Great experience with their service department! I tried to install a part myself but couldnt figure it out. I brought the part and the bike back to the shop and they installed it for no charge! They also fixed a problem with the brake cable which was a safety issue. Thanks for your service and care!!

When I moved to Altoona about a year ago I needed a bike shop to take care of me and my bike. The spring of 2019 was on us so it close to tune up time. But I own a Trek and there was no Trek shop in Altoona but there is one in Ankeny-- Bike Country. My biking days were saved.First visit: figure out why the computer and sensor werent talking to one another. Small problem but heres the thing that convinced me I made the right choice. I was greeted by Sean, one of the mechanics at Bike Country. I explained my problem. Have you changed batteries? Two days ago. Sean got another battery, installed it in the computer and five minutes later had the system working and calibrated.I was not so impressed with the solution to the problem-- it was going to be batteries (five bucks) or a new system (at least 80 bucks or more) but it was the fact that my small problem got a lot of attention. I like that.I also met Gordan and LeAnn (sorry if I didnt get that right LeAnn) who asked me questions and showed me around a bit. Bottom line: I was very impressed with the people. I was not a big spender-- this time but they treated me like I was.I was also impressed with the store front part of Bike Country. Everything you might need to enjoy the biking experience. I sensed these people are as passionate about biking as the people who walk in, and I sensed they would and will take great care of their clients. It is comforting to me to know that I have a place to take my pride and joy and know that WE will be taken care of.

Ive used Bike Country several times. One of my favorite things the convenient location. Im very happy to see a bike shop in Ankeny. Im not a big fan of driving, so anything that saves me a trip downtown Des Moines is a blessing. Being that this is a small shop, I love supporting it.From my experience, small businesses are totally awesome. Each time I have gone in to Bike Country, I have been able to talk shop with an employee. I love biking, but Im not very knowledgeable as to the details. The staff there knows multitudes about bikes. They seem to know the ins and outs of every single item they sell and they are happy to talk to you about it. No hard sell either! Granted, they want anyone who comes in to walk out having made a purchase, but they wont force it on you either!I will say that occasionally, they may push a few things on you that you probably dont need, but its probably more out of passion than anything. The last time I was in I had a staff member look at my bike and he suggested that I by a whole new gear set/assembly rather than just simply replace the chain (which is what I came in for). While it may have been a good suggestion, it was not for me.As someone in the middle (more of a novice) for biking, some of the pricing seems a little on the high side. Installation can be pricey. When they changed my tires and grip tape it felt like time they spent on it was not proportional to the cost. The tires were great, but I would have liked to have seen a little more care go into putting the grip tape on (Its still pretty good). Lots of products on the shelves are full retail or marked up. However, I urge anyone who is reading this to remember one thing; Bike Country is a small local store competing with huge big box chain stores and online services. Im willing to pay more simply for the convenience, knowledge and service I get at Bike Country. One more quick thing. After shopping around at other local bike shops, I will say that Bike Countys full bike tune-up package is very competitively priced and Im excited to try it out. It looks like an excellent value. I hope to update my review following my tune up with them. So far, excellent store and awesome staff. You just dont get the same friendliness and compassion for trade many places any more.

The staff and service were above and beyond excellence!! Thank You Bike Country!!!!!!!!!!!

I spent a lot of time looking for the right dealer for my next full carbon road bike purchase. After much research and test riding I found Gordon(owner) and Kyle to be extremely helpful and knowledgeable with my first purchase from Bike Country. I even chatted with Gordon for a couple of hours going over any questions I had and really narrowing my choices down to what fit best for ME! I will continue to give them my business and I wish them the best and continued growth but I hope they keep the small local bicycle shop feel too.

I have taken my mountain bike and my kids bikes here for repairs and have always been pleased. Yesterday I bought a pre-owned road bike on Craigs List and I am totally new to road bikes. Bike Country helped me for 2.5 hours with everything from selecting shoes, clipping in/out of the pedals, the differences between types of padded shorts, and even safety education. I am so happy to have found a home for all of my familys bike needs. I highly recommend Bike Country because their customer service is unmatched by any other bike shops in the area.

Went in with my husband so he could get new pedals. First sales guy told my husband that all the pedals were basically the same with the same post size, and talked over me every time I tried to show my husband a platform style pedal. When we were checking out, we compaired the pedal the first guy chose for him to the one we brought with us, and sure enough, the post was the wrong size. After talking WITH the other guy (who was trying to ring us up) he suggested the pedals I was trying to show Robert in the first place. 🤦🏻‍♀️Second guy was nice and helpful. I feel sorry for whoever has the first one help them though. Especially if they are a woman.

Today, we had a slight bicycle brake emergency. I called to check on the availability of a technician and they told me to bring it in. I gave them a description of the problem and they estimated the time it would take. They were right on and we were out and repaired in 10 minutes. We also got additional supplies and got the guidance to select the right products for what we needed. The team not only did the work but shared some tips on making us more succesful doing some of the work at home.

I disagree with the poor reviews of Bike Country because I had an absolutely WONDERFUL experience there!!!!I have worked retail and Im sorry, but when its time to go, its time to go. If I owned the store, I might stay and sell a bike...maybe the guy had somewhere to go. If you stay open for one person, then more people come in. Also, if the store is that busy, sometimes its hard to acknowledge others who have walked in. Especially if you are paying attention to the customer you are with and think someone else may have greeted them.Anyway, I went into Bike Country today because I have been having a VERY hard time finding a bike shop who was willing to work with me and the issues I had been having riding my bike. I had been having pain while riding in a sensitive area. I assumed that any bike shop would have been able to help me, but 3 major bike shops in Des Moines dismissed me and 2 of them were flat out rude. Yeah, I get it..I am a girl and my seat is pointing in directions it shouldnt be, but you would think that the bike shops would be PROFESSIONAL and help me out. It seems that they were quick to judge me as not a serious rider and since I dont have boy parts, they had no desire to help me. I swear to God, that is how I felt!!!I was greeted immediately once I walked into Bike Country. All of the sales people were with other customers and I patiently waited until Leanne (hope Im spelling that right) was available. I told her my issues and she was completely understanding and knew exactly what I needed to fix my problem. The seat I was told to buy originally was too big and made for a man.I bought that after the seat that came with my bike hurt me too much so I was just told to get a new one. It was like 140.00! She showed me how the seat was causing pressure points and pain while I rode and put me into a very reasonably priced WOMENS seat that fits me perfectly. They have a tool there that actually measures the distance between your sit bones and that determines the size of your seat. I couldnt believe how EASY it was to do that!!! Not ONE place in Des Moines offered to measure me. Such a SIMPLE TOOL!!!Once we got the seat on, she had me go outside and ride around in the parking lot so she could see how I rode and also so I could tell her how it felt. The first loop around the lot, I felt a bit of pressure. She made one tiny adjustment and then it felt great! She also gave me some great tips and even showed me how to adjust my seat myself.I had nothing but a fantastic experience with her and the store and I will be going back there for all of my biking needs. All of the workers in there were very professional and courteous. The store was very clean and kept up nice and I think the merchandise was very reasonably priced. Even the bike shorts. Most stores they are 60 + with the nice ones being over 100. I noticed their nice ones start around 45.I hope my review goes a long way with potential buyers. I am not a recreational rider, I take my riding seriously and have spent thousands of dollars on my bike and equipment. With the help of Bike Country, I can take my riding to the next level without suffering with terrible pain!!! I think they are more than capable of helping any rider at any level. Go check em out! :-) (Especially if you are a woman, go there and ask for Leanne, she is fantastic and understands our bodies!)
