We love Parrot Stars! They really care about parrots and their conservation. Very helpful anytime I have a question about any of our birds. All their birds appear happy and well cared for, and weve never had health issues with birds we adopted our purchased from them. Plenty of cages, toys, accessories-- really anything you could need for your feathered friend. Fair warning: Parrots are LOUD! Anybody sensitive to noise should enter prepared for that.

Ive owned birds for over 20 years, purchased mostly from breeders or recues. Only Parrot Stars had a specific bird species I was looking for. I was a bit weary purchasing the bird before seeing her since at the time, I was 2,700 miles away in CA, but would be visiting IL two weeks later. Parrot Stars suggested a video call to meet the bird. I was really surprised that they did that. This made the decision clear, I knew I wanted the bird right away. They continued to take care of her, and she remained hands off to anyone who did not work there which was great to hear. The day I picked her up, they went over all of her care in great detail and made suggestions for her care in her new home, including her favorite foods, toys, etc. They have really customized a care package to take home just for her. I couldn’t be happier. She is the most sweetest and loveliest bird! Im so happy that she is part of my family. I highly recommend Parrot Stars for all of your birding needs. Thank you for being the BEST bird store ever and doing a fantastic job raising these feathered gems. :)

I was so happy about every detail of this place. Not only do they care for the animals very well with the highest standards, they help each interested buyer to learn and follow those high standards to guarantee the best life for each animal. They have a large selection of unique and hard to find birds, a huge selection of great feed and treats in lots of varieties, and lots of toys and other accessories needed beyond just a great cage. Each bird is immediately vet checked and an entire DNA blood check done to be aware of any potential current or future concerns. The overall prices are somewhat higher than some other stores (think petco/petsmart), but for the detail and great care, its worth every cent. We even received a verified birth certificate for our bird, and found out they ensure this for every pet they sell because it can also help guarantee the history of the pet. And verify it was native, captive hatched, not wild caught.I couldnt say enough praise of this place!

The birds are healthy and well-cared for, and the products they sell are excellent quality, but I’m not sure the same can be said about how they treat their animals. I brought my young conure here for a nail trimming a little over a month ago and he’s been incredibly aggressive ever since. He used to calmly sit on my shoulder for hours at a time, explore, play, and chirp normally. Ever since the grooming we can’t bring him out for more than 20 minutes before he starts attacking us, completely unprovoked, to the point of drawing blood. I don’t know what they did to him but he’s not the same sweet bird he used to be.

If youre looking about possibly buying a bird as a pet, Parrot Stars is an excellent place to go. They went through the whole process with me with so much patience. They answered any and all questions I had. And theyre super friendly and knowledgeable about everything birds. I havent had a bird as a pet in a long time but this little guy has brought me a lot of joy. I highly recommend Parrot Stars. They treat you well.

If the owner isnt around its great. If she is expect a down to business mentality. Unless youre buying the bird you want to hold forget it. If the owner isnt around the atmosphere is much friendlier and although we just went in to look the second time we walked out of there $3,000.00 lighter than when we walked in. That wouldnt have happened if the owner was there. Her mother is great though.

I love this place. The birds are gorgeous and so sweet. Alexis is a great, loving person. She was so sweet and she let me hold a macaw which was amazing and I loved it. I bought a bird an the bird is sweet and so friendly. I have a passion for birds and parrots. Maybe next time I will buy a macaw. I cant wait to come here next time.

PLEASE READ IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING BOARDING YOUR BIRD!Firstly, the store used to be amazing. The past manager was extremely nice and loving to us and all the birds. However, the new manager is the opposite. I have always gotten bad vibes from her and her smile is extremely fake. However, the store itself had a pretty good reputation so we got our cockatiel (Mochi) from there. We already had a budgie (Disco) at home. When we were picking up the bird, they basically forced us to buy more than $50 of food and treats. Since most of the food seems high quality, we bought most of it. (This is important information for later.)Fast forward more than 2 years later, we had to go on a vacation and had to fly and couldn’t bring Mochi and Disco. So, we decided to board them at Parrot Stars, since we didn’t know anyone else that could care for them for the week.Firstly, when we dropped them off, they wouldn’t let us go in and see what cage Mochi and Disco were going to be in, let alone set up a comfortable and familiar space for them. They said it was for safety reasons, and it was their rule, even though when we discussed the conditions earlier they said we could set up the cage (lies). During our vacation, we called several times asking how Mochi and Disco were doing, and they always said they were doing very well.When we went to pick them up, we first noticed Disco had dried blood on her head. The staff then carelessly told us that Mochi had a “few” blood feathers and that was the cause. However, it was way worse than that; Mochi apparently had a night fright and lost ALL of his left flight feathers, and it’s obvious from the dried blood and the wound that it happened on the first few days. Also, under BOTH wings he has plucked a lot of the small feathers, due to stress and mistreatment. Thus, they were all LYING to us when we called and they said Mochi was doing very well, in addition to LYING straight into our face and not directly telling us what happened to Mochi’s flight feathers. (I was the first to say that Mochi was missing all his left flight feathers and they agreed after.)Also, Mochi lost almost 20% of his body weight and is extremely underweight. We provided Top’s pellets and some other food that he usually eats for them to give, and allowed them to give their seeds because we buy/ bought our seeds from them. However, when we picked our birds up, the seeds/pellets in their bowl were NOT the (expensive and good quality) food they forced everyone to buy; it was very LOW quality food, and Mochi didn’t even want to eat them even though he loves his seeds.Moreover, he has become very skittish and sleeps with one eye open, always observing his environment. After talking to other bird owners, it can be agreed upon that not only was he neglected, but also mistreated. He seems very traumatized by whatever happened during his time in boarding. Also, Mochi is basically stuck to the window looking outside, like he hasn’t seen the sun in ages.Disco is fine physically because she is an independent bird, but she is way more aggressive and wild (from them manhandling her instead of using the stick we provided to get her to step up).We will NEVER be putting them in boarding at Parrot Stars again, and I suggest everyone not as well. Listen to the reviews! We will also never go there ever again because all they care about is the business and have lied to us many many times.

Great place to purchase your bird from. Great information grooming them as well. They carry treats, foods as well perches etc... As well they have there birds in a area so you can pick and choose. Great Place happy we found them a year ago. We have a green conure we taught him how to speak. His very vocal as well knows how to get to your heart.

I purchased a Pionus parrot from this lovely place, and the bird was social and sweet. I havent even brought him home yet, but they made special accommodations for him since I had to go on a business trip before I could take him home. Theyre amazing for being so generous with taking care of him! Highly recommended.

Parrot Stars is my family’s favorite place to visit. The store is meticulously maintained, and their birds are very well cared for. Cages are clean and spacious, they’re fed the appropriate diet for that particular species, and every bird that we’ve handled have been well socialized, too! The owners are wonderful, and you can tell they’re extremely passionate about these beautiful animals. In fact, the whole staff are friendly and willing to provide bird education whether you buy one of their birds or not. It’s more important to them that the right bird goes home with the right family. Do yourself a favor and stop in and see for yourself. They also have a great selection of quality toys at very fair prices.Yes, the birds are a little pricier than other places, but what you’re getting is a happy, healthy bird because they were spared no expense from when they’re born to when they go home. We love Parrot Stars!!

My family has owned parrots since I was little so I have quite a bit of experience caring for them. It is for this reason I can appreciate a good knowledgeable pet shop or breeder. The Nanday Conure (named Ivy, female) I purchased is, according to my vet, in perfect health and has great muscle structure.The person who helped me gave me a lot of good information about proper care as well as made sure that I understood the responsibility I was taking on. I mean I knew all of this but I listened anyway because it was great to see this level of concern and care from any seller.Will definitely shop there exclusively, for little Ivys needs going forward.

They have beautiful birds here. They have a giant corner enclosure that was full of green cheeks when I was there. It appeared that nearly every bird that was there was also listed for sale on the website. They have many toys and food options available for all bird sizes

Friendly staff great care with birds

I do not want to give a bad review because we bought our bird here. Always had a great experience at Parrot Stars, until today! Whomever the lady is working the front that was yelling and just being nasty to my wife and kids who did not know where to go to have our bird groomed. Get a grip on yourself! Treat people with respect. Either you dont like your job or are unhappy with your life...Leave that attitude at the door when you work!

The shop was very clean and the lady helping us was very nice but I contacted them via facebook the night before and asked if we needed an appointment to come in to get a conure. We werent told that it would be at least 2 weeks until they were weaned. They only had one conure available to take home.

Employees are knowledgeable and caring but felt pressured to buy accessories and food i did not need for the parrot i bought from there. Felt very corporate as the manager whispered to the sales person(who was very nice) good job when she thought that we were buying extra food and accessories. Good place to buy a bird but already expensive and beware when they try to add on a bunch of items with purchase.

Before I say anything negative, their birds seem to be in great health and all of the employees are very knowledgeable. My complaint is with the customer service. I was in the store today and the young man that was working was helping an older couple. He said hello to me and kept helping them, which is fine. Then, an older woman came out front and I asked her a question and she had no problems answering it. My issue is that after I asked the question, I was ready to check out and the older woman stood around when I was at the register while the young man was still helping the couple. Then, another employee came up front and also ignored the fact that I was standing at the register. In fact, the older woman (presumably the owner or manager) was barking orders at her the clean. The man that the other employee was helping was the one to say, go help that young lady (me) and then come back to usWhy did it take a customer for me to get checked out, and not the 2 employees (possibly even owner, or manager) to get me out of the store. CUSTOMERS ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF YOUR BUSINESS. NOT BARKING ORDERS AT OTHER EMPLOYEES!

We got our white capped pionus here. They have a lot of birds, toys, treats, and services like bird grooming and boarding! They dont push you to buy anything and in fact encourage you to take your time finding the right bird for you.

I called looking to buy a hand raised cockatiel and spoke with Mack. Awesome customer service! Before I picked up my bird I had a 45 minute in service on how to properly care for my Tweet. When I got home I appeared as if my little baby wasn’t eating and I called Mack and he assisted with trying different methods. I finally figured out what was best for Tweet! She is happy and eating and drinking! Thanks Mack for your customer service and support ☺️

Joyce spent most of the day with us. I was so impressed by the shop, and all the birds as well has how they are handled. Honestly I cant wait to visit them again! We bought (actually my father bought hey for us) a black headed Caique. She is so sweet and playful! Thanks you guys!

I called to inquire about getting my birds groomed here and she said to come on over. No appointments necessary, even on a Saturday. The person who worked with my birds was very kind and she obviously loves birds. My birds have never been this content after going to a groomer. They are so happy and playing like crazy. I will always bring my birds here and use them for boarding soon.

If you want a bird, come to this place! They have so many different parrots. The people who run the place are incredible and very knowledgeable. You can tell that they sincerely love what they do and theyre very good at it. Great place to get healthy food for your birds too! My birds love their sprouts and human- grade seed/floral mix.

They had a lot of birds/parrots available and they have a really friendly staff only problem was that they seemed to wanna push you to buy a lot of accessories that you really dont need lol.

The bird we purchased was so well adjusted. And on top of that, they provided us with so much information and made it known that they would be a resource moving forward. Theyre very knowledgeable. They do a great job cutting my birds nails. Theres large number of bird supplies including many natural and eco friendly bird toys. The only reason Im not giving them 5 stars is because they dont allow returns (now and pre covid-19). There is no mention of their return policy on my digital receipt and they dont mention it unless you ask.

I have noticed a definite resurgence in the popularity of keeping parrots as pets. As an avid bird owner I always appreciate knowledgeable bird owners with their helpful tips and advice in all areas of daily life from housing, diet, behavioral training, all the way to veterinary care. As a regular attender of the rolling Meadows Illinois monthly bird show I have recently met the new owners of the new Parrot Stars pet shop on Arlington Heights Rd. just north of downtown Arlington Heights. I would recommend a visit to discuss your interests in parrot ownership. The employees are knowledgeable and dedicated. Please remember that a bird is a long-term commitment and brings with it responsibility for years to come.

The owners of this shop are very passionate about their birds. The site was very clean despite having multiple large birds and several other species. The manager Alexis was extremely knowledgeable and was willing to answer any question you had. She ensured we were comfortable with our bird before leaving and explained everything to me and my children. I highly recommend this store. The birds are all health and disease tested. I bought the cutest blue Quaker parrot here yesterday. The level of knowledge and care that each staff member displays when interacting with the birds and customers gave me confidence we found the right place to get our new family member. They have the most beautiful birds, a great variety, and keep the store and cages very clean! We are so excited to have found this gem so close to home and know we will be tapping into the expertise of their staff as we bond with our new family member!

We were looking for a place for bird stuff, as places like PetSmart are a little lacking. This place is like a PetSmart but for all pet birds! Bird toys for all sizes, cages and playstands galore, and a large selection of food options. But the reason for a visit is the bird room. They have everything from parakeets to rare macaws and cockatoos. If you like birds, you will love this place!

The place was really clean, which impressed me at first sight. I bought my feathered friend from here, and loved the whole experience, besides the lengthy time it took for them to check me out, despite the store being empty. I had been looking for a bird for weeks at many establishments before finding Parrot Stars. I am so blessed to have come across this place! Of all the places I had gone, none compared to Parrot Stars! On first impression the vibe felt right - the store is kept very clean, each bird is kept in his/her individual cage (unlike many places that put a bunch of birds in a single cage), there is sanitizer in the entryway before even entering the store to keep the birds safe from illness, the manager (Alexis) was very informative and gentle with the birds, and the story of how parrot stars started is heartwarming. They truly care for the birds well-being over anything else. They are not in it for the money and will not recommend a bird if you are not 100% ready. Alexis and Joyce spent a lot of time with us and helped us choose the perfect little member to be a part of our family. We adopted a baby Quaker Parrot and hes the sweetest little addition to our family. He came home to us healthy, happy, cared for, hand fed and weaned. We knew exactly what to expect when taking him home (all the pros and cons) thanks to Alexis and Joyce, who also guided us throughout the entire process. They are so knowledgeable and answered my hundreds of questions with enthusiasm! They truly want their birds to go to loving and committed homes. In addition, they have a wide selection of healthy food at very reasonable prices! I cannot recommend Parrot Stars enough! Thank you Alexis and Joyce!

We had an amazing experience! We drove 9 hours, changed our minds 3 times and put up with our questions for 3 hours! So nice and informative and our canary winged parakeet is a perfect gentleman! Im in love!

Important to read: please consider buying a bird from this wonderful (and I mean wonderful) exotic bird store...I hate calling it that because it is so much more than a store. FIRST: most of [these] birds can be a 20 to 80+ year commitment--do not rush into any purchase...let the rush of what you learn from these wonderful people sit for an evening; then, and only then, make your purchase. My wife and I stopped in to view this new store and were overtaken by the sheer amount of exotics. We have had a few parakeets in the past and really did know what we were looking for in terms of a future bird purchase (for us a green cheeked/cinnamon turquoise conure.) But thats where our expectations were left squarely on the floor. Joyce blew us away by the breadth of knowledge she has accrued in her bird-life. I can go on and on about the birds, the people, and the way everyone interacts. But now to jump to, SECOND: if you go here that means one of a few things {interest, knowledge, purchase, love-of-birds.} do NOT expect to simply walk in and purchase a bird simply based on a whim or some fanciful notion that, ...hey, why not get a bird. This is a serious based group of people that want the best home for every single bird. This is a commitment, like a child in some respects. So please, consider wisely when your bird chooses you on your visit. There will be many wonderful years ahead when you take the time to visit, think it over with the family, then decide to bring home your new bundle of joy...I mean feathers. :-)

Really rude and unprofessional. Especially the woman that had curly greasy hair. She was doing the most as if she just got hired. I have never seen her there before, and every time I’d pet a bird she would have something rude to say to me. I believe she needs customer service training because that’s no way to talk to customers. I had a very bad experience and will never be returning. No customer service skills whatsoever. Also seemed racist towards people of my color.

I wasnt impressed. Based on other reviews, I may not have gotten the normal experience. But, that doesnt negate the fact that mine was poor.I called the store for directions, as the address on Google Maps is not where this was located. I was directed by Lauren who confirmed she was me pulling in. When I came in, I thought it was odd there was no one to greet me. Seeing that she WATCHED ME pull in. I was left on my own to wander the front portion of the store with merchandise, until I figured out the bird room was in the back.I found two women in conversation, one whom I was assuming was Lauren, the other a customer. Wrong. The other was another staff member, and neither acknowledged me! I thought this was super weird. I have found the Parrot community very friendly and open to all. However, I continued to wander the bird room, still without being asked anything by either women. A third woman showed up, in which I deduced was another staff member. There was now three members of the staff who all ignored me.I went back to the product room, I am always looking for stores that carry Harrisons, and went to search for perches. Still, I may add, not being acknowledged as a customer by the three staff members, who remained in conversation in the bird room. I thought to myself, I could grab my stuff and walk out the door and none of them would notice. Now I am not that person but I do value customer service. I couldnt find the perches I was looking for and at this point, had a bad enough taste in my mouth that I just wanted to grab the Harrisons and go. Which I already knew I had to grab one of them, out of their conversation, to pay.The woman checking me out assumed I had been there before, stating, I cant find you in the system. Duh! Never been a customer! I paid and left.I am surprised by my experience based on all other comments, but mine was TERRIBLE. I think it super unprofessional of Lauren, to not greet me at the door, she didnt even put down the Macaw she was holding or leave the back room.Unfortunately for Parrot Stars, they lost out on a customer who would have been loyal and true had they paid any attention to me as a customer. Shame on those staff who cant see the value in customers for the owners sake. Wish I had something better to say....

Birds are healthy, food is good for my parrot and my parrot enjoys it too. Staff is friendly, parrots seem nice, and grooming is super fast.

It doesnt feel like a pet store but more like an adoption center. You can tell they truly care about every single animal that they care for, the shop is super clean and inviting. I will definitely be back for toys and food.

Amazing place to visit! It is wild to have a tropical bird store in the middle of Arlington Heights. Great selection of exotic birds and also lots of more common budgies, parakeets, and canaries. The employees are true bird experts.

What a great place, knowledgeable staff, all birds are hand fed and treated well. Youll be getting a very good lifetime pet from them.

Great employees, and greatly cared for birds. Though the birds were awesome there, we bought a parrotlet, and it was fine for the first few days we had it, then it turned on us, and began to bite us. We tried everything to get this bird to stop biting but nothing worked. The bird would draw blood. We ended up having to return the bird.Employees were very helpful, we are looking into a cockatiel and hoping to provide them our business. Good selection of toys. Not too bad of a smell, place is kept very clean.

I have been in the market for a baby green cheek conure for about 6 months before coming across Parrot Stars. I am a first time bird owner and wanted to purchase from a place that was willing to be personable and answer my questions. Despite the fact that this store is new and has limited staff, I am usually able to get someone on the phone or reach Alexis through Facebook with all of the silly questions and updates about my baby bird for the entire weening period. I don’t know how they do it, the birds are all well socialized and the place is very clean and well organized. They also take their time with each customer, educating them and providing them with support. Most importantly, my bird is friendly, healthy, and well socialized now that he’s home. Glad I went with Parrot Stars!

I bought an albino cockatiel shipped to Seattle by Delta.Process was smooth(though Delta changed the flight without notice) and she is so sweet and healthy. Converting to pellet was easy as well she ate Zupreem natural pellet instantly.If you cant find the birds locally, this store is highly recommended.
