Unreliable and terrible customer service.Last year they gave me an absurdly wrong pair of glasses and it took repeated visits to finally get it right. But they are convenient so I gave them another try. Bad idea. The new optician urged me to talk with him before booking a cataract surgeon, so I called and left a message. Called again and spoke to someone. Another week went buy. Called again and was told sorry, weve been busy and I was apparently a low priority.Promised to call me back later that day. No call. The indifferent Asst. Manager seems clueless about customer service.Later when she did bother to finally call me, it was too late. I had already met with the surgeon.I cancelled the reading glasses I had ordered. I will not deal with a company that treats customers so poorly. They seemed happy to keep the 30% restocking fee and made no gesture of apology other than a lame, half-hearted sorry. The website currently states: Your feedback is important to us. But they have no place designated for sending feedback! That says it all.
I called in for an appointment, a woman named Tina answered the phone. I requested an appointment for the first date/time available next week. She was extremely short told me they are open monday through friday. I requested the actual date and time that the doctor would be earliest available. She signed loudly on the phone and said Im so confused. I think Im helping you.. Im telling you that we are open Monday through Friday.. So what day you trying to come in?? I responded, how about Monday? What times are available? She responded loudly, WE ARE OPEN 9-5 MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY. You could also look on the website if you want to know when were open. Youre looking for an eye exam. We do eye exams. Im trying to help you and youre not giving me any information!Typically, when someone calls for an appointment the receptionist gives the dates and times of availability to book the appointment. I told her I did not appreciate her shortness on the phone with me and asked for her name. She says Tina. I ask if I could speak to another customer service representative, and she tells me Hayley will call me when she is available. This is the worst customer service experience for a doctors office, I have ever experienced, and it has completely turned me off from booking an appointment for this facility. Either get this woman training immediately, or risk losing more patients. Patients deserve empathy and care from the receptionists to booking the appointment to the actual clinical visit.
The worst experience ever. I called a day before the appointment. I provided my insurance ID number and my last four social security digits. They were able to pull up my account, so we set up the appointment. the following day, I received a text message with visit time. When I showed up, the asked for my last four digits and my insurance card. This time they said they couldnt pull up my account. I asked why they had been able to pull it up the day before. I called my insurance, and they assured me that made so many mistakes in the process. At the end, they were able to find my account and asked me if I wanted to go ahead and do the exam, so I did not want to because they didnt even apologize. They acted as if nothing had happened. I will never go there again.
I brought my son to the Leesburg location for a contact lens fitting. After the exam, the associate was very aggressive with trying to get me to spend $600 on contact lenses. Thank goodness I resisted and took my prescription to Walmart where I got the same contacts and saved over $100. Be prepared for high pressure sales tactics at this location; consider going someplace else.
The doctor thorough and listens to any problem area. The front office/ receptionist is rude and has an attitude. She needs help with her communication. The optical doesn’t have too many frames to choose from but the girl that attends it is friendly.
I really like coming to New Era Eyecare. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable and helped me with all my questions about glasses, contacts, and eye health. Would definitely recommend them, I have sent a few friends their way too.
I hadnt gone to an eye doctor in years but New Era Eyecare is super convenient to my work location, it takes many kinds of insurance, & the scheduling process was quick & easy. You arrive to fill out a mere 3 pages of details, the exam takes maybe 20 minutes + another 5 for the standard machine tests, & the billing/post-exam details last maybe another 10 minutes. Each stage was efficient, professional, & detailed (I asked a lot of questions).Would I go again? Yes, I had a wholly positive experience throughout.Would I buy glasses from them? Maybe, its unclear how their prices compare to online locations but this seemed reasonable. What was the weakest part of the experience? Being told I should get glasses for the first time -- BUT the staff was pretty understanding & helped me pick out frames & walked me through the pricing. The nice thing was by the time I got out of the exam, they had all of my insurance staff figured out instead of being ambiguous like other medical providers. What was the best part of the experience? The staff were all very friendly & offered genuine input. They cared about my comfort & helped me to better understand their processes.
Right in the muddle of Clarendon with plenty of street parking (meters at certain times). The store is bright and open. The staff is cheerful, knowledgeable, and helpful. Great selection of frames with a wide spectrum of prices. Most of the frames can be order is a small set of colors. Very happy to have found this place.
Came for an annual exam and chose this place based on the good reviews. Front desk staff were incompetent (did not know I had never been there before and were rude). Dr. Craig Spelkes chairside manner was so terrible I went for a LASIK referral the next week as I did not want to give them any more business. I have never encountered a less professional group of medical professionals. Very disappointed by the entire situation. Would advise you spend your time money elsewhere.
I went there on 1/15/2021. Im with Dr. Edwin Adair. My eyes are needed for comprehensive Existing, Fundus Photos, Refraction, Contact Lens, and Freshlook Colorblends. Employees are friendly and helpful as well. I will be back to pick them up. Also, I will get my new glasses later this year, cant it! Honestly, it was nice to be back there AGAIN.
As a fair review, I’ll give 2 stars because I’ve previously had a better experience here. I have been a patient at New Era Eyecare for the last year, but I will no longer work with this establishment. I gave them a try and had satisfactory service in 2020, but my experience in 2021 has been less than desirable. After a minor mixup with my scheduled and rescheduled appointment, I wasn’t too bothered; however, I’m still not satisfied about the service provided on the day of my appointment and the days after. I have no major complaints about the eye exam with Dr. Spelke, but my prior experience with Dr. Sleva was MUCH better. After completing the eye exam, Dr. Spelke incorrectly told the staff to order a year’s supply of contacts for me. I had not yet decided to purchase them on the day of the appointment, but after his statement, decided that it might save me time later. After making the purchase, I realized (obviously too late) that the boxes for charged at $40 per box ($320 more for a year supply) than what I found on a competitor site. I called the office during business hours to inquire about cancelling the order, but the phone went straight to a voicemail system multiple times. I left a message requesting a cancellation of the order, and never received a call back. I called the office back on Tuesday (2 business days later) and was told that I would need to talk to the manager about a price match but she was not in the office at the time. I called back the next day to speak with the manager, and once again she was not in the office. A message was taken and the receptionist stated that the manager would call back. After a third call, the manager was get again not available and another message was taken with a promise of a call back but still no results. Still working on trying to get a resolution.Bottom line, you can likely find better service at a different provider and definitely purchase contacts and/or eyeglasses somewhere other than New Era Eyecare.
I would not recommend this place to anyone I care about. I was asked to remove my contact lens (normal) and was shown the bathroom for a mirror and solution. The receptionist stated the bathroom didnt work (fine). I went to wash my hands before removing my contacts and there were no paper towels or hand dryers. I asked for a paper towel and the receptionist said we dont have any. WHAT. Are customers and employees not washing their hands while interacting with their eyeballs?! Even pre-covid its a good preventative measure to wash your hands before touching your eyes. On top of that the receptionist was not wearing a mask on her nose. It was loosely on her mouth. She was attempting to train another receptionist to take my eye measurements but they ended up arguing the whole time. It was uncomfortable. On top of that I was pressured into a comprehensive contact lens exam which I refused twice. Finally I said yes and found out later its not a routine exam and my insurance only covered 10%. I paid over $100 for this exam I didnt even want. I came in for an eyeglass prescription. Horrible service and concerning hygiene.
The doctors are professional and the staff are excellent. Genesis was able to get me a 1 year supply of contacts, rayban composite frames and a price match for 1-800contacts. Even better you can use your care credit and financing for 0% here. Best eye exam and purchasing experience in town, you won’t be disappointed.
My distance glasses didn’t need to be changed. My reading is good enough most often to read without needing glasses. I told him for the little that I need reading glasses I use generic ones because I can have multiple pairs. One in each location (office, home, car). 4 out of 5 because I felt that the Optometrist was trying to up sell me on an unnecessary pair of reading glasses.UPDATE - that was last year. This year the Doc did not try to sell me on getting glasses I do not need. The people in the shop are great. Most especially Crystal. She’s great at making sure you’re getting the most out of your insurance and getting the best deal possible. They have a good variety of styles and price points.
I came in for a visit for a script for glasses and contacts, and was led in to doctors room. I gave my insurance on the phone during the intial scheduling and assumed if any hiccups occurred, theyd let me know. Aside from being a little short of word, everyone did their job until after the exam was over when I was told my insurance only covered the glasses part and I was on the hook for $150.Apologies about not communicating clearly, etc, but Genesis did offer a months worth of free trial contacts (which is appreciated)--- but I should figure out how to trade them for Metro passes.
I’ve been coming here for my annual eye exams and getting glasses/contacts for over five years. Staff here are always nice and professional. Doctors are very patient with all my questions. All the services and products are reasonably priced. I will definitely continue to come here for my future exams.
Greeted nicely, only had to wait for a few minutes - less than five. Doctor and staff were very friendly and competent.
I recently got new reading glasses here. Dr. Adair was very attentive and professional. The staff was super friendly and they made picking out new glasses so much fun.
Dr. Craig Spelke at New Era Eyecare and the entire team are AMAZING! They practiced safe pandemic requirements with masks on, social distancing, hand washing, and having customers one at a time in their offices. Dr. Spelke was also extremely professional, thorough, accomplished, and answered all my questions. I highly recommend Dr. Spelke and his team at New Era Eyecare.
Its fantastic when getting glasses is not a chore. Iris and Jennifer were extremely helpful and very very friendly! I spent a bit more than I intended. But, the financing options were also very helpful.I Highly recommended!
A seamless process setting up the appointment for an eye exam, quickly getting a convenient date and time and Dr Spelke was thorough, but not rushed, going through my history and then examining my eyes for glasses. Great selection of frames, so lots to choose from. The staff is very professional and not pushy.
I was very pleased with my appointment yesterday -- everyone was pleasant and attentive. The exam was thorough and the doctor took time to answer my questions.
Great seeing you guys out at Clarendon Days! I love having a local eye doc I can trust and is part of our community!
The staff was very nice, friendly and knowledgeable. The doctor was very informative and made sure your eyes prefect before giving prescription for glasses.
I went there for the first time. Im there for eye testing, get new glasses, and get a new eye contact later on it. An Eye Doctor is friendly and respectful. A lady is helpful to me. I havent been to an Eye Doctor in Rosslyn since 3 or 4 years. Im with them for 20 years. I need to do something different and why not try in Clarendon at New Era Eyecare. Here I am!
I had a great experience here! Im really happy with my new glasses - I find its always more helpful to go in-person, where someone can help you find the right pair that suits your style/face-shape, rather than order online.
Great service, reasonable prices. Dr. Spelke is patient and thorough.
My first visit was a great experience. Really friendly, knowledgeable and helpful staff. I didnt see Dr. Adair, but the doctor I saw was extremely thorough, upbeat and clearly passionate about her job. The staff worked to get me the best deals possible for the eye exam, glasses and contacts. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a new eye doctor!
Jennifer helped my wife choose some great frames and she price-matched her contact lenses. Terrific customer service experience!
This place is awesome! I stepped foot in to the store and was greeted by a super friendly staff! I told the manager Sulaiman, who was helping that I was in the market for a new pair of glasses. He showed me different brands and took the time to recommend and try a bunch of different styles. At the same time he was not being pushy at all and took his time helping me. I needed an eye exam because it had been a while, and lo and behold my prescription had changed! Dr. Adair did a series of test and went more into detail than any other eye doctor I have got an eye exam from. The people here are absolutely fantastic and the prices are the best around town. I walked out purchasing a pair of glasses and an awesome pair of Ray-Ban prescription sunglasses! I will refer all my friends, family and clients here.
The manager on this store was phenomenal, her new staff is great. I had a horrible service not long ago and the manager contacted me and apologized for the bad experience and provided me with amazing service and I gave this store a second chance. Can say with confidence that they listen to their customers and since the changes they store seems nicer.
Very fast and efficient service. Staff was friendly and extremely helpful.
Im in love with this place. They really took care of me. The staff is SO friendly and helpful. They even took the time to find me new model frames that hadnt even been unpacked for display yet. They even gave me special (multi-purple LOL) lens coatings. 😉 The optometrist is extremely skilled and thorough, and took the time to do extra things like tell me the focal power I needed for reading glasses with my contacts. They made a new return customer today.
I went into New Era Eyecare in Arlington without insurance and not only got a good deal but phenomenal customer service. I got my eye exam and contact lens exam for only $99 and not only that they gave me a 3 month supply of biofinity contacts for FREE. And most locations or websites give you a small discount when you get a 1 year supply but they offer a way BETTER deal by replenishing any pair of contacts of that might of been lost or damaged through out the year and they also give you 2 boxes of contact solution every month. I also needed glasses at night when I dont wear my contacts so they offered me 20% off glasses as well.Overall, great staff and everyone was very knowledgeable. They have free parking for patients and I DID NOT have to wait for my scheduled appointment. Will definitely recommend this play to others.
Visited this location yesterday (Nov. 27) and was extremely disappointed. Their online appointment system somehow incorrectly recorded my time and they could have cared less. Later I was told they couldn’t accommodate the purpose of my visit despite the fact that I was told they could when I called during scheduling. Extremely disorganized and bad attitudes. I will never again visit this location or any other New Era office!
Understaffed and careless optometrists with no bedside manner. Would recommend going anywhere else but here.
The Dr. And staff are knowledgeable, friendly, patient, and efficient.
Kind and courteous staff who worked with me at every turn.
Great service. Friendly. No wait.
I was in a few months ago to have an eye exam done for eye glasses. I put down a 50% deposit and was told that I would be given a call within 2 weeks once they arrived. I never received a call so I reached out a month later (3 days before my move to Texas) and was told that they had arrived. When I went in to pick them up the next day, the glasses were not the right prescription. My vision was very blurred when I put them on. The manager was not in so I was told I would be given a call back. The next day I got a call from the manager saying that they were the right prescription and that I just needed to get used to wearing eye glasses. I have had eye glasses and have never had an issue with blurred vision. I was told that I could come in for another exam but at that point, I was already driving down to Texas.I finally got in contact with the manager who again told me that the prescription was correct. They were absolutely not correct. As a resolution she only plans to refund me $105 because of a 30% restocking fee. A restocking fee should not be charged if the issue was the fault of the business. I will never go back and have contacted other sources to receive my full deposit back.
Staff was professional, kind and very helpful!!
New Era was a breath of fresh air after going to LensCrafters at Ballston for several years. The best part? Plenty of staff to handle the customers, so no standing around and waiting to be helped! Great selection, thorough eye exam, and prices equivalent to what you would see elsewhere.
Friendly, knowledgeable staff. They also helped me pick out a new frame when I was struggling to make a decision.
The staff was friendly and helpful, and the exam ran smoothly.
Positive experience! Staff was helpful and professional!
Ive never been this satisfied with my new glasses. Great job, and very friendly folks.
I went to New Era Eyecare with a groupon for an eye exam and prescription glasses. At first, I was hesitant to buy the groupon because it was only $39 and offered a $305 value, which I thought was too good to be true, but I was really happy with my decision after going there today. New Era Eyecare provides quality eye health care with top of the line equipment. I have really bad vision and sensitive eyes so generally it costs me an arm and a leg to get prescription glasses, but with groupon I bought I was able to get an exam and buy a really nice pair of glasses at a very reasonable price with no insurance (on a students budget). The entire staff is very accommodating and made my experience really enjoyable. The optometrist seems to be intent on getting your prescription right, which I found very comforting. I got a breakdown of all the features of my new glasses and the expenses. The selection of glasses was just right for me. Overall, I was very satisfied with my experience and purchase.I would recommend New Era Eyecare to anyone. The groupon is a real life saver if you horrible eyesight (like myself) and very convenient for anyone looking to buy a new pair of glasses. New Era Eyecare is proof that sometimes you get more than you pay for.
Staff and Doc were great, parking is a pain though.
Professional
