The place I first got a love for coffee. About 16-18 yes ago I came to this place, and it was a frequented place with friends drinking coffee and listening to local bands and poetry. The chi is legendary and the coffee today was excellent. This will always be a part of my heart as I travel the world of coffee. Oh and by the way the staff was knowledgeable and extremely kind and helpful. Nostalgic

This place is a go to when I visit Athens, Ohio. Donkey coffee serves fair trade, organic coffee with compostable coffee containers! I had a Iced Mocha with almond milk and shared half a blueberry muffin and half a carrot cake muffin! My favorite was the carrot cake muffin! Both muffins were fresh tasting! Fast and friendly service!

Donkey Coffee, what a splendid establishment. They brew the choicest of beans and the atmosphere is splendid to a fault. I traveled from a distant to reside in this fair estate of beanery, it was blissful. 51 out of 51, would recommend to a bean junky.

Even when the line is long they always make sure to thank everyone for being patient. Its a very cozy vibe in there, and their drinks are really good!

One of the best coffee shops in Ohio! The Cubano espresso shots are delicious! Nitro cold brew is great just wish theyd sell it in large growler bottles! Love the snowville cream and milk! Wish they would of had condensed milk to make a Vietnamese cold brew

Great little place in a college town for an cappuccino!

It is a very quaint little coffee shop with plenty of space to sit and a variety of hot and cold drinks. They have everything from coffees to teas to smoothies. Very relaxed vibe. There is always good music on, and local artworks are displayed throughout the venue. If youre craving a spiced chai latte with oat milk or just need a place to sit and work or read then this is the place.

Really enjoyed the atmosphere of this place and the prices were really good. the staff was nice and kept the long line moving. i liked the seating arrangements. However, i give it three stars because i didn’t like the taste of my coffee at all. it was too bitter for me & didn’t have enough vanilla flavor and also felt some wheat grainy. i may have gotten a bad coffee, so i still say try this place out

Not sure how I’m just now getting around to reviewing Donkey as I’ve frequented this shop for years. The mocha is my personal favorite but their chai and lavender beverages can’t be beat. Pastries are always on point. Customer service is excellent. If you’re not sure what to order, just ask; they won’t steer you wrong.

Hands down, absolutely the best coffee and freshest pastries . Went two days in a row because it was so good . If you are a chocolate lover I recommend their chocolate cherry cookies, heat it up for 15 seconds, melts in your mouth.

This place is soooooo welcoming. They have great coffee and baked goods. They have lots out seating and an outdoor second floor patio. They also have a open stage that you can rent out. They also host special music nights as well. ( At least they did unlit Covid-19.)

Donkey Coffee is very good and the building is great. Walking up to the counter, the young lady seemed to not be in a good mood. By the end of our transaction she had loosened up a little. The coffee was great and the Barista did a great job.

Donkey Coffee has incredible coffee. I highly recommend their chai (Ive also bought their chai mix, which never lasts me very long). Highly recommend drinking coffee here!

Very warm and cozy place with really nice seating areas. I had a smooth and creamy Americano and sat down on a comfy couch in the large back room which feels like a vfw post basement or your local polish buffet room. Los of lamps for reading and a friendly and talented crew!

Seems like nice enough of a coffee place. The employees were definitely nice. My only problem is that if you don’t live nearby, parking can be an issue if you want to be there for awhile, cause then you’re practically buying another cup of coffee with what you gotta pay for on the parking meters.

Latte was great. Coffee had flavor and wasnt too hot or cold. Plenty of cozy seating available. A lot more intimate than Starbucks!

You can’t find a better coffee shop in town. The coffee and beverages are excellent, the baked goods are to die for, and their stage attracts some great local talent. The ambiance is stellar, I can’t recommend this place enough.

I had a great first time visit here. The employees were very friendly and the coffee was truly perfect. I ordered a mocha with almond milk. Im glad they had vegan cookies from the Alternative Baking Co. but it would be nice to have tried a fresh baked dessert. I was very impressed with the many rooms, the artwork (especially from Passion Works) and the comfy furniture. I would be a regular if I lived in Athens!

Very fun environment for college kids, sells art on the walls which sometimes looks very psychedelic and cool. Claims to support the bean farmers, dont know if there is truth to that but those cups are biodegradable I know that. Small coffee is like 4 bucks too.

Terrific little cafe with a collection of classic board games for guests to play.Good selection of roasts and sources, Donkey takes their coffee seriously. They make great pour-over and latte brews.If you are visiting from out of town and want a delicious snack and a cup of coffee ... Stop here!

This place is amazing! The staff are really friendly and helpful. Theres a decent amount of drinks to choose from but it is a little expensive. Theres a lot to do there in a lot of room. Theres two floors and its a very nice scenery. They have a lot of really nice stuff on the walls and yeah I highly recommend stopping there if youre in the area.

The coffee beverages are totally top notch! They use Deans Beans, the official beans of the coffee gods! The staff is usually pleasant. I always enjoy seeing the latest art for sale. The owners are nice folks as well. Its a bit of a drive from home, but for a serious coffee fan, it is worth going out of the way. 🤓

There is ample space to sit and chat with a friend or work on an assignment, especially with the second floor seating. Music is playing throughout the space to create a relaxed atmosphere. If java and caffeine are not your think, they have wide selection of teas (ask for the menu) and a variety of snacks and juices.

This place is amazing! The first time I went in there I had no idea what to order and the kind guy who was working there asked me a bunch of questions on what I liked and decided from that a drink to give me. It was an iced vanilla chai tea and is literally the best drink I’ve ever ordered from a coffee shop. The only thing that keeps me from going everyday is that it’s very expensive. Love this as a treat every so often!

The best coffee place in town. I have had friends coming from France and Italy who declared the Donkeys espresso to have authentic taste. I have tried almost all type of coffee there. Never disappointed. They have good collection of tea which they brew from fresh processed tea leaves (not tea bags). The place is cozy and well decorated. They have good collection of boardgames upstairs. Whether you want to have chitchat with friends or work alone in a laptop, this is a really nice place. Sometimes they organize karaoke night.

The staff has consistently underwhelmed me. For instance, when I ordered a coffee with an extra shot of espresso I was told Coffee really doesnt come that way when in reality it does, its on their menu, and it has its own name.Among my visits I have felt like I was an inconvenience to serve.

Funky coffeehouse near Ohio University. Lots of small rooms winding through. Interesting art and more interesting crowd. Students, families, retirees, travelers. Nice drink and pastry selection. Friendly and accommodating staff.
