Well this was my first time here and it was okay until I got to a cashier working. There was no one in her line so I went to it and started putting my things on the belt, she didnt say hi to me so I did and she didnt say it back, so I spoke up and said How are you and she said good. I just felt like she didnt want to work there or like her job. She wasnt too welcoming. The owner would really watch who they hire.

Absolutely rude customer service worker. She was an elderly black lady, didnt catch her name. She was blatantly rude with her first words to me and it didnt get better from there- luckily enough I chose to ignore her but now I will never spend money with this location or the location on Jefferson as both places are dumpster fires of grocery stores with horrendously rude workers and nasty, out of date and damaged products. Because of this incident, youve lost mine and quite a few others I spread this to. Word of mouth in a small town goes far, you should take more care in how you treat your customers.

Love the environment! I also love the cashiers! My favorite would have to be Julianna I think. Such a sweet young lady she is and she always has a smile on her face when I come in! Hollie is also a amazing sweet girl! Always very friendly and has a smile on her face! Don’t let anyone else fool you, these teens are so sweet and have such good manners. Always happy to help and ready to work. Never once has any of them been rude to anyone! Riley is also a sweet boy. Nice and offers to take out my grocery sometimes! Just an amazing place to shop at and I will continue to shop there.

Always have loved shopping at Hometown since I was a kid. The employees are extremely helpful and polite. I love how they cash payroll and social security checks for a smaller fee than any bank. Their prices are lowest around and the 5 for $25 meat deal is great. Highly recommend shopping at Hometown.

Nice employees and good prices but there is one thing wrong with theyre store they need to unclutter there isles and clean up the store especially the restroom and stock there shelves they was out of a lot of items. And clean up the parking lot I would appreciate it a lot thanks from Mary Lewis tomboy outlaw harmonica player

This is a very well run store and I have frequently shopped here for years now. The employees are always really kind and helpful whenever I need assistance. That bakery manager especially, hes a wonderful guy and knows the answer to pretty much any question I ever have. Keep up the good work Hometown!

I love Hometown because I can park reasonably close and if I just need a few things, I can quickly go in, select my items, check out, and be on my way!

Hometown is the BEST grocery store in Athens!! They always have great deals, has everything I need and I dont have to go to Walmart! Also, every employee in that store is always so nice and helpful! I also use the Pharmacy, AWESOME people there too! Thank you Hometown for making life a little easier!

Again this is one of the best markets we have in this town today. You guys took a failed Southern Family Market, Piggly Wiggly, and all it took was some cleaning up and making it that kind of store again. Great job guys!

One of my favorite grocery stores these days. They have real butchers!, and if you ask they will cut any meat product anyway you ask. Not many stores do this anymore. Most other stores only have meat stockers. Everything comes in pre-cut frozen bulk packages. Not at Hometown Grocery, everyone should be on a first name basis with their butcher.

We always get our meats from here they are a small town style grocery store that has actual butchers in their meat department during the day. A bell to ring if you have questions or need something specific that they dont already have out there

Nice local chain, better selection than the smaller Jefferson store. My only complaint is some produce isnt as fresh as Id like, and there is a ton of junk food crowded directly up front. Im not a health food nut, I just prefer less processed foods.

A certain cashier here is very quick to discriminate !!! Terrible moral values. I’ve dealt with this 2 times already here.

I have only been to this location two times. Both times I left disappointed and rolling my eyes at how rude and inconsiderate the cashiers have been during checkouts. Not to say that all of them are, but the young high school/college aged students at work during the times I was there are completely unprofessional and care more about their own side conversations than the customers. The young lady wouldnt even slide my bags down to me. Instead I could only reach them up and over the credit card machine. I will continue to shop at Hometown Grocery, not Hometown Market, like I usually do. Sometimes convenience is not worth it.

DONT... i repeat, DONT APPLY THE JOB! i am deaf and i applied for the job 3 times within a year and the manager discriminated me, how did i know? i gave my application.. (3 times) and the dude who handle the hiring, said the papers are overload which I did not buy what he said, because the employees told me the store is badly needed to hire. and i asked one employee to see if they got my application, but said my application wasnt there next day... 3 times! it is disability discrimination... and I KID YOU NOT!!

One star because negative stars isnt an option. One the freezers was unplugged or broken all the meat in was thawed and warm! Gross!!!

The Store across town is better than this one. Im really surprised at how lazy,rude and sloppy they act here. They dont want to help. Especially if you need help at the service desk. Then all they do is complain. They should be very Happy they have a job but instead they are miserable. They get equally frustrated if you use the coinstar. That confuses me to why that bothers then so much. I guess different strokes for different folks.

Prices on the shelves are way higher than other stores. A bottle of Gatorade that sells for .80 at Walmart everyday is $1.49 at Hometown. Other items that sell for $1 most places are 2 for $3 here. Thats a 50% increase, for nothing. Do people not understand that on the non sale items they are being completely ripped off? Hometown had better hope their customers never set foot in Walmart or Aldi and compare prices.The meat department is tiny and meat prices are high. Cheap chicken thighs are priced higher than boneless skinless breasts a mile up the road. Best of all, check out is totally stalled out. They currently have one slow lady running a resister with six people lined up waiting to check out. Meanwhile store employees file past the registers looking grim, and no one is the slightest bit concerned about the wait. I guess opening register #2 would be way too much trouble. The good reviews this place receives are a complete mystery to me.

Its not new but its easy to run in & grab everyday items... dont buy cereal or detergent though... its really quite a bit higher than discount stores. .. unless youre in a pinch. I grab basics because its on my route home from work sometimes. I do not regularly shop for main groceries.
