What a great market! I am a foodie who lives above the market. I go (downstairs) multiple times per day. They have great, fresh, local produce and other great stuff which I buy daily. If you have not visited Kindred Market, you should check them out. Nice store, for me...and I am fussy.

Not a fan. This place is overpriced even for the quality. Plus the employees are just not very personable which I really look for in these types of stores. Its a nice place and all, just not the experience I expect for the money.

This market has hands-down and absolutely the best and most products from here through Columbus and with exceptionally low prices. Ill drive the hour and fifteen minutes one-way to shop here again and again and not just because of the products, but customer service is beyond polite and very helpful.

Moved to town a little over year ago and Kindred was a life saver for me! If it weren’t for Kindred I would have to drive all the way to Columbus for my groceries. Kroger and the Farmacy can’t compete! I love this store!

Love the staff! Everyone is so friendly and helpful. Prices are pretty decent for such a small store and I feel so much safer going here then any other grocer in town since the pandemic started. Check out the pet treats, lots of great variety and I love we can order specific items or request things we may like. Im still figuring out how to move all my shopping here.

Walking into Kindred Market feels like you are walking into a small grocery store in a popular neighborhood in Los Angeles. There are lots of local, healthy, and organic food options. There are displays with local art. There are some holistic health items, sweets, dog treats, plants, and lunch offerings. The vibe feels very exclusive upon entry and the prices of some of the items are surprisingly high, but that is what comes with shopping and buying local. This store is selling you more than goods; it is selling you the experience of feeling good about your purchase.

Kindred Market is an AWESOME independent family-owned natural/organic grocery store in Athens, Ohio! They provide excellent customer service, great food, community and social awareness, and good vibes.

Wonderful natural foods store with fresh local produce, local honey, craft beer, fresh locally roasted coffee, locally produced dairy items, kombucha, a large bulk food section... all in a clean colorful store with friendly hardworking staff. Love it here!!

Found the staff cheerful and very helpful and even though were going the extra pandemic.

This review is just about the little coffee shop in-store. I was there within a month or two of the new opening and it has some pluses and minuses. Whats good are the coffee prices, real half-and-half, and a reasonable selection of espresso and drip brews. Improvement could be made in terms of your usual add-ons, like having more than just Stevia on hand as an artificial sweetener (Its been 2 hours and I can still taste that--ewww-- but thats all they had). They could also use a better traffic flow for food area purchases--everyone has to line up into a dead-end corner so congestion is a problem.All in all, I think this will work into a great new place for an afternoon coffee, away from the maddening crowds at Kroger, Donkey, and the OU Frontroom. They just need to get the kinks out.

You can tell so much thought and love was poured into every corner of this store, from the paint on the walls to the products on the shelves. Kindred has everything youd want from a shop that supports organic and local options, but with a clean, bright atmosphere that is unmatched in Athens. The staff is super knowledgeable and take the time to educate you, while never making you feel like you are being a burden or asking a stupid question. The food in the grab-and-go section is delicious and constantly gives me inspiration on things to add to my own family menus. Kindred is such a wonderful addition to Athens. I cannot recommend it enough!

Kindred Market is Athens. If you want a great deal on a high quality coffee or water there is literally no better place in town than the front of the store for the coffee and all the way in the back for some great reverse-osmosis water. (I can currently leave with a coffee and a refill of my 32 ounce water container for $1.10. Try to beat that anywhere else, even at home.) The quality of the items in the store is top tier. My personal favorite item in the store is the continual procession of amazing soups being marched out of the kitchen. I have never been all that into soup but have had nothing else for lunch for the past week and a half due to the high quality and amazing variety Kindreds amazing cooks/chefs provide. The best thing about Kindred Market though, by far, is the people. They dont just work there, they are there; there to help, to make recommendations and to just be real people. Real food, real sustainable consciousness and real people. What a great addition to our amazing community here in Athens. Five stars falls short, come on Google give us more options, I know you are listening :-)

Outstanding selection!

Great place to buy organic and local foods, and the bulk wall will fill most of your dry goods needs. Bring your own wide mouth jars to fill or buy one on site. Easy in and out, too!

Athens is SO lucky to have this wonderful store. Now, when I come back to Athens, I dont have to stop at Whole Foods in Columbus to grab the items I need that I couldnt find anywhere else in Athens. Kindred has a wide selection of excellent, quality products from brands I trust and many from local businesses. Additionally, it is obvious that the family who owns Kindred cares deeply about creating a thriving workplace and that they value their employees. Everyone was super kind and happy to be there. The same cannot be said about the grocery industry in general, and even at a place like Whole Foods. I am so, so glad this store is here and I hope they continue to thrive (so I can keep shopping here!!).

This place is super cute! I got to try vegetarian jerky here(which i didn’t like but i’m picky) but i was so happy to see an option for that! there are not many places like that but this is such a cute little shop! i would definitely go back! prices are a little steep

Everything has been thoughtfully handpicked by it’s owners to ensure you are getting the best organic and freshest food possible.

So happy that we have another solid choice in Athens Ohio for natural and organic food! Very impressed with the selection so far and looking forward to the evolution as they find what products sell and are needed in our area. If your local, let them know what youd like to see on the shelves. I am hoping for a wide consistent choice of organic produce, would be very happy to buy most of my organics locally here and at the farmers market, rather then at Krogers.

Great products, great service, great atmosphere...but quite possibly the most overpriced store in town. I know specialty items there are hard to find elsewhere, but even compared to other high quality places this is too expensive for most shopping.

Absolutely love coming to shop and check out the ever-evolving shelves. Though there is no upside to a pandemic, it has made me more focused on what I eat and where I choose to source it. And the lay-out, as well as the staff, are super-accommodating.To date, I have fallen over gaga for the Rudis Organic English Muffins, the Explore Edamame/Mung Bean Fettuccine, a great source for Mirin, just to mention a few. Being stuck with Mollie Katzens The Heart of the Palate and avoiding big box stores has been inspiring! Thank you, Kindred store and super-friendly staff!
