I really hate to leave a low review. I really had high hopes for this place. My PBC omelette was good. However, my hubbys Challah french toast were overcooked as well as his sausage and eggs. We had to send back twice, when sausage came back less cooked. They were cold 🤦🏽♀️ Go figure! Not fun spending your lunch date talking about how disappointing the food is. So, we wont be back!
One of the staples of ATL brunch. I love coming here for the food, the vibes, and the service ! No matter what you choose to order, you will not be disappointed. The drinks are delicious as well. Located in West Midtown, you are in close proximity to other attractions and shopping centers which will give you more of a reason to stop by for brunch on anyone’s busy schedule. I will totally come back again since I had great experiences here. Kevin was the best, he definitely knows how to make strong drinks !
After reading the recommendations from Infatuation and others, I was ready for a stellar breakfast… But was disappointed. The Caramelized Peach French Toast was soggy. The Westside Pileup was mediocre at best. It was lukewarm. The potatoes were dry. Service was slow. West Egg Cafe seems more interested in quantity over quality. It wasn’t terrible, but not sure it warrants a second trip. TIP: They automatically add a 20% tip to checks and validate for the garage next door.
Loved our breakfast here! Everything was delicious and fresh. Good portions for a good price. I’ve seen several others mention the automatic 20% gratuity so I wanted to mention that our party actually really respected their reasoning and fell in love with the place that much more. I would definitely visit again.
I had the fried green tomatoes and shrimp and grits. Both were delicious and the shrimp and grits definitely deserves the hype. I love that the shrimp are purposefully unseasoned and boiled rather than cooked in a pan, you really get the pure shrimp flavor, unmuddled by other competing flavors. The coffee is a medium roast, so just be aware of that (I’m personally not a fan).
West egg is so dang good. This was my second time going. First time I had to make the reservation which was kinda a pain, but now you don’t have to do that anymore! I split the chicken biscuit with my sister and it was really good. Everyone at the table really enjoyed their meals. Staff very nice and food came out quite fast. If you go on a Saturday, get there early! Don’t show up at 10:30, you will have to wait. Get there at 9:30 or 9
The West Egg Cafe, was not really on my radar for food. But now it is, all thanks to their all day breakfast menu. From their Banana Bread French Toast all the way to the Fried egg Sandwich, there is something for every breakfast lover here. I went with the Banana Bread French Toast and Blue Plate, paired with a ice tee and lemons.
The place was very nice. Food was delicious! I cant remember the waitress name but she went to Delaware State. She was very pleasant and professional.
Good vibes. Nice food. Love the fried green tomato
Great authentic menu! Food full of flavor and the just right touch of perfection. And the waitress Nina is absolutely Beautiful very helpful and accommodating for those first time patrons. I will definitely be a regular when Im in town.
I’m go-to brunch spot and anyone I’ve taken with me have loved it! Even the ones that don’t really like food. Anything I’ve had from West Egg and been great, you really can’t go wrong. Nothing dined in but it looks so cute in there!! Can’t wait to dine in here some time
Could be better. Was very busy but the wait wasnt long. Unfortunately our server only showed up once during our whole breakfast and did not refill our coffees. Food was good so that made up for the pretty terrible service.
Slow, mediocre at best.I had the fried chicken biscuit and my wife had the peach tree plate.Took ages, coffee never refilled. Got room temp water in a carafe on the table.Biscuit was good, but the chicken was dry. Tomato sauce tasted like it came from a can.My wife was less than impressed with the peach tree plate. Flavorless tomatoes, flavorless grits.20% tip included automatically.Wont be back.
I’ve been to West Egg plenty of times and my experience is always worthy of 5 stars. I’ve had the Westegg Pile Up. A delicious blend of potatoes, eggs, veggies, and bacon. Im a big fan of this restaurant. A simple breakfast with their sour cream pancakes, eggs, bacon. Their fried egg sandwich. I’ve tried their mimosas. There’s several choices such as original with orange juice, grapefruit mimosa or even strawberry mimosa. The teas and lattes here are great as well! I love to try something new every time I come here and I haven’t been disappointed yet! Service is always pleasant as well! :) Be forewarned the wait time on the weekends can be pretty long, and they are required to seat you at your table once the whole party has arrived. They have a huge parking deck which they share with other west side provision establishments. So parking should be fairly easy as well. I’m telling you this restaurant is definitely a must try!
My brother and SIL just moved to area and we wanted to pick up some breakfast while unpacking. We ordered directly from the West Egg website and were given a time to pick up the food. When I arrived to pick up the food I was told that the food was not yet ready and ended up waiting 18 minutes for the food. Unfortunately I did not check the boxes and when I arrived home we were missing the grits from one order and a biscuit from another. I attempted to contact the restaurant regarding the issue by both phone and email and was not contacted back regarding my concern. The food was fine. Standard breakfast fare. Not worth the hassle of wait and missing food items.
A great place for brunch and/or lunch. Fantastic atmosphere, friendly staff, and delicious food. Their coffee drinks are fresh and high quality, theres all different kinds of food on the menu, and their bakery items are lovely. I highly recommend the shrimp and grits, the French toast, and the pancakes! Their biscuits are done really well, too. It WILL be busy at peak hours on weekends so expect to wait. But its worth it.
Had to leave an automatic 20% tip on a party of four for the worst service Ive ever experienced. Felt swindled. Food and drinks were extremely hit or miss. Feel dramatic saying it, but has to be my worst dining experience. Will say the food/drinks can be good, but its hit or miss. Half the dish I got was a plain salad without any dressing or anything at all. The salmon avocado toast was very good, but the value isnt there. Drinks are nice, but a bit inconsistent for the price.Hour and a half wait to get a table, 45 minutes to get water after asking for it. Others arrived and ate before we got our food. No apology from the waiter. Also the tables wobbly. Hate that.
Great brunch option with eat in and pick up options. The garlic grits were phenomenal, with a solid ham and cheese omelette. Prompt service too!
Delicious and aesthetically pleasing breakfast spot for reasonable prices. Coffees are excellent and they offer seasonal options that are fun and interesting flavors.
COVID reviewMy family was visiting Atlanta and wanted shrimp and grits, so after a quick search West Egg was highly recommended. Wasnt the best Ive had but definitely Wasnt the worst. I enjoyed the experience. We placed a reservation via Resy. Also, you have to pay for the rsvp but it will go towards your final bill. I did enjoy the cranberry orange mule.
Food was very good, service was great. Did have to wait to be seated but it was worth the wait.
Nice place with indoor and patio seating. Food was delicious and service was good. Clean establishment with a wait time of 45min around noon time.1 issue: we wanted mimosas but were told that they were out of champagne bottles and only had enough for 2 glasses. The issue is that after we got 2 glasses another waitress that we asked brought us out 2 more and another party was brought out 2 as well. Thats 6 glasses total whereas we were told there was only enough left for 2. Not that there was 2 glass limit per couple but only enough for 2 glass total.Other than that good restaurant with good eats.
The waitress that we had was lousy. She finally came over and took our order. She took her sweet time even serving our drink. When I place my food order with her, that took over 35 minutes. When I questioned her as to the problem she said she would look into it. And she didnt. She chose to serve two other white couples who came in long after I did. I am going g to register this complaint with her Manager
OMG! The banana bread French toast with caramel syrup is spectacularly tasty. I HAD to write a review. Its like a light, fluffy banana bread, and the caramel tastes like the kind on a caramel candy apple. The sliced banana pieces were fresh and good. This combo is amazing. Im very shocked that the caramel was so good because I absolutely love caramel, but finding excellent caramel is a hit or miss type of thing. The bean cakes are a fail. Theyre just smashed black beans and arent visually appealing or very tasty. The turkey sausage is good. I would DEFINITELY go back for that French toast.
We had to make a very conscious decision to get here for brunch as we live over an hour away! SO worth it!Each item came from the kitchen spot on for presentation, temp, etc. Service was relaxed feeling, but always on time with water, coffee, napkins, you name it.Only let down was banana bread French toast... more our issue than the West Eggs though. Kinda expected something a little more towards the French toast I had in my head, but was still good.
Was asked by a friend to join him for breakfast at this spot. It was my first time but I thoroughly enjoyed the visit. We were waited by Taylor who did a superb job. The food was really good. I did have to season the salmon patties a bit but I have no complaints. There was a terrible wait but it was worth it. I even had a almond joy coffee. Will be returning soon. Try the grits, theyre delicious!
My wife and I have found a breakfast staple. I love their Peachtree Plate. It comes with a biscuit, fried green tomatoes, brown sugar bacon and grits. Pimento grits to be exact however I ask for their garlic grits as a replacement. I’m not a grit person but their grits are fire. First time you try them... you will need to take a moment and get yourself together. The brown sugar bacon is always crispy like I like it and has a little sweetness from the brown sugar, for the sweet and salty lovers. My wife gets the churro waffle which is perfect with the cinnamon sugar. There’s really no need to use syrup but live life and try it out. The prices are great and the school house vibe is dope too!
A fantastic dining experience, with personal but professional service and great food. In fact, their range of drinks might actually eclipse their food menu slightly, offer a lovely variety of hot and cold drinks that you wont find elsewhere. In particular, we would recommend the apple pie chai latte and French toast for possibly the best way to start the day, though their biscuits shouldnt be missed out on either.
I just stop for some coffee was awesome and friendly staff.
Definitely worth the 45min wait! I got my personal favorite, chicken and waffles. Funny enough they forgot to bring my syrup for it. That’s like being a bricklayer and forgetting your mortar mix.
The food was excellent and our server was on point...looking forward to going again!!!
Salmon avocado toast is something else! There salmon has a bit of a sweet sauce on it. Really great with the avocado and chrunchy toast (had min with the wheat amd not rye bread). Fresh fruit was simply gross, looked old and mushy. Didnt taste any better. Great morning latte too. Wrapped up in friendly service and its an Atlanta favorite
Decent food awful service. Probably the worst service I have ever had. Everyone who works there was rude…Our server tony, literally didn’t speak to us after we ordered our food. No drink refills, no checking in to make sure we are doing ok. Couldn’t even get ketchup. The service was so bad we couldn’t enjoy our food. Wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. There are other place with decent food. Without rude people serving you! Crazy thing is my wife mentioned the bad service highlighted in the reviews, should’ve taken it serious.
The wait was long. Ordered food and ate outside. 30min wait turned into a hour. Food was great
This was the Worst dining experience I’ve ever had. I had been here before and the food was good, we waited 2 hours after being told wait was 1 hour. Once seated it took 38 minutes to get a tiny cup of water after asking for it. Everyone around us seated after us had eaten and left by the time we got our food after 1 hour. After all of this, there was a 20% tip automatically added on the tab for 4 people. I am so disappointed.
Went for a drink and bacon biscuit horrible service one piece of bacon on dry biscuit had to ask for honey butter and a bag worse customer service for high prices. And nobody cared the cook came out n slapped my food on the counter!!!
If you’re looking for a normal SAFE pick in Atlanta, you really can’t go wrong with West Egg Cafe. It’s always clean. The vibe is very casual and cool. Not to mention their food is very good. I had the Blue Plate with eggs, bacon and potatoes. Biscuit on the side and I even split an order or pancakes 🥞!! It was great. The service was awesome, the manager checked on us a couple times which was nice. I did not get a chance to check out the desserts but that’s def in the menu for next time.
For automatic gratuity, superb service should be the standard. Unfortunately okay service is, along with the food. The highlight was definitely the grapefruit and sage mimosa. That made up for the poor service I received. The server needed a basic one on one in training. His colleague tried to make up for his lackluster attitude and performance but it was my first time, and sadly I was disappointed. I know this has been a long time staple, but there are a several great breakfast spots in Atlanta that rival in both food and service! Great service always makes okay food taste better in my opinion.
My group was visiting Atlanta and we were referred to this place. It didnt disappoint. Everything was delicious! The shrimp and grits was awesome. The garlic grits and omelette was really good. As were the sour cream pancakes. The spiced butter is delicious and adds a wonderful flavor. I just wish establishments served pure maple syrup... especially one this good. I think Im going to start carrying some with me. :-D That would have really set the pancakes off and put them on a whole other level. All in all we loved it. And were stuffed as we left!! Well definitely visit again when in the area.
Absolutely an excellent experiance. Atmosphere, service and food quality were all excellent. We only waited 15-20 minutes for a table at 9:30am, but when we left we could hardy find the exit for all the people waiting. So the earlier the better if you don’t want to wait too long. Young vibrant clientele. Parking is available in a near by parking garage at no charge. They serve breakfast and lunches.
It was worth the wait. The food was excellent.
Went here on a Saturday morning. When we drove past we could see lots of people waiting. We went inside and as we were about to put our names on the waitlist with the hostess, we noticed people leaving the bar area. We asked if we could sit there and she said sure. She cleaned the two spots for us and we got seated immediately. Our waitress was very friendly. I ordered the Black Bean Cakes and Eggs with Garlic Grits and my fiance ordered The Blue Plate. Both of us very much enjoyed our meals. The black bean cakes had amazing flavor and the salsa and sour cream really set it off. The only downside to this place is that you cant order cocktails before a certain time. They have a menu with lots of great breakfast/brunch cocktails but if you go too early you cant indulge. Since I couldnt get a cocktail I opted for the Spicy Hot Chocolate (not sure if this is the exact name) and it was delicious. Service and food were great and we would definitely return.
First time here. Food was amazing!! Will go here again next time we are in town.
Oh yeah. 5 stars for sure. Visited West Egg at about 3pm on a Sunday. Parking is free but can get crowded. The location is West midtown..a nice vibrant area. The staff are friendly, the place is clean and spacious - I love that. Service is fast and food portions are as expected and definitely delicious.I recommend this place. I will come back to the West Egg.
Sitting on the patio was very relaxing. While sipping on some mimosas and other mixed drinks. The food was amazing plate was so full could not finish it all. Definitely will be a frequent visit when in ATL
Restaurant was recommended to me so I took my mother and daughter on Easter. Food was excellent, cute decor, and great location. Wanna especially thank Lissa (I believe) for being a team player and assisting us. I wish I could rate more but due to AJ forgetting our coffee and food I cannot. May return with hopes for better service.
Probably one of the most overrated places in the area. Unless you show up really early on the weekend, the wait is always at least 30 mins. The food is … ok at best, and actually bad in some cases. The steak was way over cooked (not medium rare as asked), and not good quality. The michelada was mediocre. Pancakes were fine I guess. You wait a lot, you pay a lot, for … not much.Don’t believe the hype, and if you want a low key breakfast, cheaper, and better, go get biscuits across the street.
The brunch here is unforgettable. the menu has a little bit of everything, and the drinks, specials, and desserts are all very creative. the biscuits are perfect, soft, and flaky. the Milky Way latte is even more delicious than it looks!! (its very sweet, it could honestly be dessert.) the fried green tomatoes are some of the best Ive ever had and compliment the eggs and biscuits perfectly. the gravy truly tastes homemade and the experience was overall wonderful. this restaurant is adorable. theres an awesome little photobooth inside, though it was broken when we went. it even had an F. Scott Fitzgerald quote framed on it, to go with the name of the restaurant! be ready to wait - we showed up around 1:30pm on a Sunday and had an hour and a half wait. definitely worth it though and I cant wait to go back!
Came for brunch here on a Saturday around midday expecting a wait and there was! Had a coffee and the time passed quickly before we were called to our table. The service was excellent and we felt well taken care of. The food came quickly and was delicious, very good size portions for the money too. Overall it was a nice way to ease into Saturday on a hangover and we didn’t need to eat again all day!
The food and service was good!! First time trying them!! My husband and I ate breakfast here
Pancakes were delicious! Shrimp and grits! Not so much; no flavor and the sausage was not a good pairing. It just tasted off! And for 15.00 I want more than 8 shrimp!!! We ordered a bottle for mimosas and we got water glasses instead of champagne glasses. Took away the mimosa feel. It was very busy in there on a Sunday.
New spot. Me and my wife enjoyed every bite. Big portions for a low price.
Service was not friendly or attentive, and the table still had cereal and crumbs from the last guests. My fried eggs came with alot of water on the plate. This restaurant used to be great, I dont know what happened to the service and food quality.
Good food .....but making an hour minimum wait with no text updates and a hostess with a bad attitude is not cool. Aim for the bar but dont expect to get any love from the staff smfh
Nice staff! Very nice setup! Food was AMAZING! The virgin drinks were perfection in a glass!!
1. Be seated:The experience is unfamiliar; however, understandable due to COVID. You order your food and pay before you are seated, kinda feels like a cafeteria style restaurant. Also there is a mandatory 20% gratuity (Personally, I am not a fan of because I believe service determines amount of tip).2. Food:My wife and I had the shrimp and grits with a side of the fried green tomatoes. The food was a 6/10. Flavor was present, the major issue is the grits seemed oily most likely because of the sauce. I want to be clear it was more then edible, however we had the same dish at “Another Broken Egg” and it was masterfully done. Overall, I don’t think anyone would say the food is a disappointment; however, it’s just above what you would cook at home.3. Service:This part is a little unfair because of COVID and the way management has set up the experience for customers. I will start by saying they have a Brazilian steakhouse way of service with the green and red toggle for service. It worked well for us when it was green, the servers worked together, we never waited longer then 30sec. However my big issues was the demeanor of the staff; everyone seemed rushed or almost interrupted in the way they served you. Due to the masks you cannot really see a smile, so the eyes are that much more important. When the servers came to the table their eyes never expressed patience or a willingness to help. It was very cold and transactional. Once again to be fair, I believe it’s more of the way management has set up the experience.4. Would I come back:Probably not during covid. Service matters when the food is not over the top. With the way West Egg Cafe is set up they seem like business is so good that experience for the customer doesn’t matter. Hopeful after COVID we will give it another try and let you know how it goes.Caveat:Brian at the cash register was awesome. Great energy, patient, kind and pleasant. Even with a long line and indecisive customers he was a rock star!!!
My boyfriend and I ate here this past weekend and we had a great experience. Despite the 35-40 min wait (typical on a Saturday morning here) we enjoyed ourselves. Our waitress was attentive to our needs and our food came shortly after we ordered. When our food came out it was hot and delicious, my boyfriend really enjoyed his chicken hash he ordered and he even took a picture because of the presentation. Will definitely go back since I visit Atlanta frequently.
Recently went here for breakfast because I had been here about a year and half ago pre pandemic and was very impressed. The first time I went the food and drink were super yummy and the service was great. Well when I went again the other day, I was hoping I would get the same experience. I was wrong. We went right when they opened at 8 and there were very few people there. We waited at least 10 minutes at the table before anyone ever came over to even bring water. Waited another 10 before they ever got our drink orders. Waited at least another 20 before someone came back to take our food order and they seemed irritated that we even wanted to order food at all. 30 minutes after I had ordered my drink I was told the espresso machine wasn’t working. I asked for a mimosa but it was 10 minutes too early and the server seemed irritated that I wanted something else to drink after I was told the espresso machine didn’t work. We did get our food pretty quickly after we had ordered and the food was not bad but not the best. Eggs and potatoes were cold. After we finished eating, we waited probably another 30 minutes for someone to bring the check and that never happened so we had to get up and go to the cashier who was very confused that we didn’t get the check and was also rude when we were trying to tell her what we had. Maybe all this was due to pandemic staffing but as of right now service was awful and the food is subpar for the price. Wouldn’t recommend at the moment.
Short staffed, rude, bathroom nasty (the one that worked).Foods great but not worth the hassle. This place used to be good.
The Food was excellent..The wait was a little long but defworth it..And the waitresses/staff was awesome!!!
Been on my list to try out. Ordered the fried chicken hash. It was the perfect portion, and new combination of flavors Ive had. Definitely recommend coming here for those looking for a delicious breakfast.
The banana bread French toast is DELICIOUS!! I also had the Peachtree Plate, the grits taste very unique, cheesy with a kick & the brown sugar bacon was also delicious.
