As a child & teenager, I loved and practically lived at this store. I came here instead of the local library. Now, as an adult, Ive realized just how expensive the reading material is compared to many other online places you can buy new or used books. They have a great childrens book section in terms of selection, but again, its quite expensive. Side note, I think B&N should start a used/lightly used for sale book section for those of us who either cant afford or dont care to have something brand new, & those who want to do trade-ins of equal or lesser value within that used book section.Basically, nothing beats fresh books, except a cheaper version, & I will forever be nostalgic for the days 10+ years ago when they had comfy arm chairs to curl up in next to the Manga section. Now, the only chairs are in the Starbucks, and they are hard.
I love Barnes and nobles. Im sad that there are not many locations left. This location is very well organized and fully stocked with childrens toys, books, fiction, literature and music. My reason for going in is usually to visit the Starbucks cafe which you can use your Barnes and nobles membership discount card for 10% off. I am planning on picking up a cheesecake factory rainbow cake for my daughters birthday in a couple weeks. You can get an entire cake or cheesecake for about $40 and they are always amazing! The tangible value of holding a book is therapeutic whether youre sharing it with someone or taking personal time for self care and a moment of space in this lightning fast world.
I came here to study/work because Barnes n noble cafes are quite compared to coffee shops. The cafe had not one outlet anywhere.I did find an outlet literally right outside the cafe. And the wouldn’t let me move a table and chair so that could eat whil having my laptop plugged in.Here I am sitting on the floor when there’s a bunch of empty tables right next to me…
What more could you want theres a Starbucks in store walk around freely to browse the many books.
Always a great place to go. We go to just looking around sometimes. Great atmosphere. The new displays in Augusta store is so nice♡
They have a tremendous selection. Staff is always polite and friendly. Highly recommend for book purchases. Theres also a Starbucks there but I dont partake.
One if the few bookstores left in the state. Its nice to browse. Their Cafe is Starbucks. They have an impressive amount of vinyl records.
Augusta, Maine - Waited a while for customer service. Asked for a book [Greenlights] on best seller list (in store display in hardcover) in paperback and clerk argued that it wasnt out in paperback. Then I had it pulled up on Amazon.com in my cart as a paperback and showed her. She then copped an attitude. If you dont offer it, say so but dont lie to me and remember that you are in retail and work in customer service. Also asked for another popular book that clerk never heard of [Population One] and told the store didnt carry it. So I ordered both from Amazon, and I am sure cheaper prices. Also, no carrying bags or book sacks offered for purchases made by another member of my shopping party. She had more than 5 books totalling over $150.00. Cashier stated they didnt have any bags/sacks even for shoppers to purchase. Not again - lost my business. Id rather order them online and have them delivered to my door at cheaper prices and no attitude. Instore Starbucks was good though.
Amazing store with wonderful employees. Always very clean, great assortment of treats at the coffee shop. Very kid friendly too!
Was helped by an amazing staff member who empathetically understood my oddball request and was knowledgeable of the store, quickly directly exactly where I needed to be. Barnes and Noble is an oasis of resources when I want to look beyond my phone screen and I truly cherish this store as well as my local bookstores.
The store has been rearranged since I was last there, and the selection does not seem to be as extensive - meaning not as many books by one author on the shelves, and fewer jigsaw puzzles to choose from - but the variety of subject matter in books is fantastic. I could spend the day just browsing and leave with an empty wallet. Each purchase gets you a coupon for the in-store cafe. B&N offers a membership, which would probably be great for a frequent purchaser.
Great store and some helpful employees showed us how to get a $20 discount on a $100 purchase.
They have such a good selection of books, their Cafe makes very good coffee. I got a lot of stuff for my Christmas shopping done and it was one stop shopping for the kids and grandparents
Its a shame bookstores are on the endangered species list. But Im really glad barnes and noble is still around and still has a n amazing variety of books. They also have some of the best puzzles, kids learning and interactive toys, music, and journals. Im happy theyre still around. Thanks Barnes and Noble
Always love to visit various Barnes & Noble stores when I travel. Each is a little different and carries slightly different items in every store depending on location.
I did not buy any books but my daughter bought a bunch. Cool store.
Has a lot of books. The staff is nice and the store is always clean. Though, the prices of books are sometimes pretty expensive.
Used to be well stocked and have great selection of discount books ...now not so much. I always liked shopping here...now not so much. I guess Amazon it is.....change my mind...I will wait.
Very nice Customer Service Agents. They didnt have what we wanted but they tried!!!
The store is spaced out wonderfully with all types and genres of books/magazines. The kid section is just as big as i remember from my early years. You can get lots of music not just on CD but vinal too. They even have record players you can buy! Oh and theres a starbucks, so you know its good coffee.
Great customer service - nice clean store!
Very helpful in finding what you want plus they have a cafe inside the store
Did a pre-order online. They got their money and canceled my order. Now they refuse to refund my money and now cant even reorder the preorder because its no long available online. Called and the lady and supervisor were incredibly rude. Supervisor told me she was not sorry and continued to belittle and call me a liar. So they got their money and Im out almost $40 with out my preorder. Bunch of thieves.
Love there new set up. Plenty of space for looking around at all subjects. Tea and coffee great too.
Nice selection of new and exclusive vinyl records
Its beautiful books and the best coffee on the planet Cafe Verona Starbucks rules! Not only do they make the best coffee ever they make so much money just in gift cards alone in 2020 they made over a billion dollars and no one even used the cards can you imagine all that money just sitting there for interest to be compounded over and over! I wish I were Siobharona Starbux! Lol
Good experience typical of all locations that I have visited. The staff was really nice.
They didnt have what my husband was looking for. But we both live book stores.
Always been a staple of the community.Youll occasionally encounter a snooty moment...lol... but its worth going.
No chairs to sit in . I know its because of Covid but I cant stand long.
Great place to browse for books and have a coffee
Nice an quiet.good bathrooms kind staff. Great deals got a nice star wars poster and frame for less the a ten dollar bill!
Easily found everything I was looking for and a few things I wasnt expecting. Fast check out.
Good store with competitive prices and medium/large selection. Good diversity of departments. Everything from books to toys to puzzles and music. There is also a cafe. Presumably due to Covid, the layout and navigation is a bit constrained. Some sections were like cubes to keep separation, and navigation was not as open as usual.
Its a B&N. Fine inventory and effective staff.
I love this store always have the staff is amazing, friendly and helpful and if they cant help you with it they will help you figure out where to find it
Absolutely fantastic every single time!
Signs are not clearly visible and I was followed around my entire visit by staff.
Very disappointed in the selection or lack there of of funko pops this used to be one of my go to plaves to hunt for them
Great store! A lot of departments not found in California stores.
Stopped for ice coffee at starbucks
I liked getting a book for my grandson at the Barnes and Nobles.
Always gonna be my favorite because the Cafe still has the original mural.
Love the sale section. Store is beautiful and the cafe is great. Love coming here.
If you can get it online not the best store to go to not all the associates are very helpful a lot of them like the point
Glad their still in business and hope it stays that way. Always find something to buy with any visit.
Always a great place, they always have something good
Just experienced their curbside pickup, after ordering a book. Very smooth, simple & no waiting. I actually liked the process, but still prefer to hold a new book in hand when purchasing. Hopefully this virus situation lifts soon, so we can all go in & read a good book with a cup of coffee! Thank you for offering this great service! Highly recommend!
Love the books. Coffee area has sparse seating so I just drank my coffee as I walked around.
Love this place!!! Always have!!!! The new set up is nice no more rows more like little cubbies!
Great location. Got what youre looking for.
Love going in and getting usually what I want to read or music CD.
Very clean store, with nice and helpful staff. It is one of the smaller Barnes and Noble stores I have visited but it has all the books the other stores have . It also has a nice music section too.
I was disappointed not to find any journaling Bibles in the Augusta store. But, I still love B&N.
Very nice place. They got almost everything.
The staff was fantastic and helped me locate the material I needed.
The CSR actually went out of his way to round up books in the store that might be what I was looking for.... and one of them filled the bill! Loved that he went above and beyond!
Helpful employees, always get a few great bargain books. Nice to have a brick and mortar bookstore not too far from home.
Hate the new design. It’s just frustrating. I want to find a book, not me part of the next Maze Runner movie.
Not all the signs on the wall matched up with what type of books were there.
It has a lot of great selections for everybody
Theyve gotten rid of a lot of their in-store inventory, so the store is not as enjoyable as it used to be.
I love this store! B&N has this charm that is seldom found in chain stores of any kind. They also always have a great selection of both new and old titles. Most of all, I love their friendly service. Definitely recommend. Check out the cafe while youre there!
Always have what were looking for and unique learning gifts for kids
Few people working, cant ever find anyone to help and one register open with a line of people.
Extremely busy and not alot of help. not enforcing the 6ft distant rule in the store...
Good to see them opening up
This store has such a wonderful variety of publications. I have ordered each and every volume of the Harry Potter series, several cook books, magazines, novels. The list goes on and on. I really enjoy just browsing through all the different selections from reality to science fiction, comedy to drama. You can relax, make yourself comfortable, and read your purchase while enjoying a beverage. Stop by and see for yourself. Do a little browsing.
Solid selection, nice layout.
Very good atmosphere. I did have trouble finding help with a book.
Its a great book store!
Mask mandatory. Im just happy to get in😁
A great place, a nice atmosphere, quiet and chill. I love books and this store is my favorite by far, they have everything you cojld think of down to childrens toys a games. Its nice to get a coffee at Starbucks and then browse books.
Always have the classics and the new releases! They do rearrange more than Id like
Any book you want, they got it or will get it. Great place to go on snowy afternoon. With a pastry, hot chocolate and a book, what more can you ask for
It took over 10 days to get a price check on an item. No one put in effort and was rushed off the phone by more than 1 employee.
Very nice environment and it was pretty easy to find what I was looking for.
Went inside to get a coffee at the Starbucks and shop for books and instead the manager decided to refuse to make the drink because the only employee they staffed, was forced to take her break. And she offered to stay to make the one drink we wanted before going but the manager refused and told us to come back in 30 minutes instead.Literally the opposite of customer service and it soured the experience so we wouldnt even stay to shop for books.Place has clearly gone downhill and im appalled.
Knowledgeable staff.
I have been purchasing publications from this location for 7+ years and always found the staff friendly and helpful. They had a vast array of international magazines which kept me up to date with events/styles/news from Europe. Sadly they recently changed suppliers and their stock of these types of magazines etc has dwindled down to a handful. I hope they reconsider stocking more of this type of publication as they used to be a convenient source ?
Love the store layout and the wide selection available of books, magazines etc.
Best place to go to for books to read and enjoy
We really like the Barnes and Noble in Augusta. They have a wide variety, the staff are helpful, its comfortable (though we do miss the chairs that have been taken away over the years), and the cafe is always good for a cup of coffee, tea, a cold drink, and/or a treat. Theyve added a selection of board games in the last few years, too. Its a nice place to spend an hour or two looking at books and magazines.
Its a bookstore. Who doesnt love bookstores? Its like entering the gravitational pull of a black hole. Its nearly impossible to leave! And its a great bookstore. One of only a few in Maine and the ONLY one in Central Maine. Did I mention they have Starbucks coffee...
We often lose track of time here exploring the toy section and childrens books topped off with a perfectly crafted iced chia latte in the cafe. The staff are very knowledgeable and approachable, and truly seem to enjoy their jobs. I would have given 5 stars but the ladies rooms are in dire need of an update and the aisles are not easily maneuvered by wheel chairs and strollers.
Ok for a physical store. I mostly go here while my wife is in the craft store. Comfy chairs.
This place is huge. Has a cafe, Starbucks and of course a ton of books.
Would not honor a $20.00 gift card that expired by 2 days. Shame on you. By doing this you have lost a customer that purchased $ 100.00 gift cards every year.
Wonderfully friendly staff! 🙃 And books!
Love browsing a book store! Nice cafe with wifi. Nice staff! The prices are reasonable. Too bad theres not more like it!
I always love Barnes & Noble
Absolutely EPIC
Great store.. lots of books of course, but lots of great gifts too! Super friendly staff, very clean store. Always feels inviting and comfortable.
Always a positive. Great cafe to boot with current 2fer cookie deal and yummy bucks coffee. They match their website prices which typically match the big As without shipping wait.
I love this book store so much.
Very helpful staff, pleasant place to visiy
