My wife and I were waking around Bangor trying to find a place to eat breakfest and noticed a lot of the places were closed. Im extremely happy this wasnt one of those. The bagels were fresh as youd want and tasted delicious. They have a number of different baked goods and many drink and coffee choices. If youre in Bangor wondering where to go for breakfest, go here.
Well after THREE trips to pick up a replacement order, weve decided were just done. We dont want a refund or our food replaced. The first time the order was 100% wrong. The second time (which we paid for) was right, if you like hair in your sandwich and atop your Danish. Today was the third and last time. They didnt do it right AGAIN. The sandwich was wrong, the bagel wasnt toasted, etc. We give up. The food could be great - it was never like this before. Someone clearly needs to choose their customers over their newest crew. They are not cutting it. This is not the quality and award winning service advertised.
Visiting a friend in Bangor! I got the bagelwhich- really good bagel for a good price. And the eggs were not frozen or powdered which is always a plus for me! The only (very slight) negative I have is that I think the eggs couldve have used a bit more seasoning (salt/pepper). I also got some really good pastries there, I recommend the cheese Danish and the candles!
I dont often leave reviews but needed to jump in. They are so amazing about labeling things as vegan or dairy free. As someone with a dairy allergy, I cant remember the last time I was able to go into a bagel shop and get a bagel with cream cheese. They have a tofu based cream cheese that actually tastes so good. They also have a variety of dairy free and vegan pastries which I dont often see.Their service was also so amazing and the food was spectacular. 10/10 will be going back.
Bagel Central is an absolute staple of downtown. They always have great food, great prices, and although theyre really busy most times, its ALWAYS worth the wait. Whether youre dining in, or purchasing breads or bagels wholesale theres no way to do wrong. One of my top 5 local favorites for sure. I never get pictures because Im too busy stuffing my face.
Beautiful restaurant and amazing customer service. The food here is mind blowing, They have different types of inhouse cream cheese and bagels. You can order for different flavours of cream cheese for takehome in the size of half pint or pint. We called for Brady gang with with egg white omlet, bagelwich, spinach pie, oatmeal pancakes, carribean coconut flavoured coffee and mocha coffee all dishes ordered were mind blowing. Visit them for breakfast or brunch

Vegan Cheesecake ( most days) and the best vegan ( tofu)cream cheese I have ever had! I go there to buy pints for my cook to make me cheesecake when this location is out. The Vegan bagels are simply irresistible !! The gluten free are not made by them are not the best. Prayers they will make their own I bet it would be yummy....I would order by the dozen!
Ive never been disappointed by their food, its always amazing! I regularly get their bagel sandwiches and their gazpacho is delicious. Theyre usually pretty busy, but its worth the wait if you do have to wait. If you call ahead it usually makes it pretty quick.
Despite the fact I spend a lot of time eating NYC bagels, I really enjoyed my visit to Bagel Central. Bagel Central offers breakfast combinations including bagels and eggs which are enticing. The poppy seed bagel was very good and the cream cheese that accompanied it offered a great taste and texture. You can also have your bagels toasted, which I requested. This is a great bagel option, if not the only one in Bangor.
Very different experience from the typical bagel/breakfast joint. The food was awesome. I had the bagelwhich with sausage, and to my surprise, instead of a round egg on a bagel, it was more like a folded omelet with cheese and sausage. - yum. The rest of my family had a few different things and they all liked what they had. The sweet potato home fries were awesome
This is by far one of the best restaurants in Bangor! Every time my family comes here from out of state, they want to go and we are never disappointed! We came last week and the place was packed. We were not in line for even five minutes because of the way they conduct their business! THEY ARE AWESOME 🤩 My family said that every time they come they will go to Bagel Central because it’s always fresh and it’s always good!!!😋😋
Good bagels the customer service is great.. the person who took my order was prompt and courteous as well as helpful... I would recommend this establishment to be a good choice for a good meal...
Excellent food! The Raspberry-lime Ricky is a must try. The line was long(ish) but worth the wait. Once we ordered, the food came out way faster than expected. We will definitely be back.
This place was awesome. Very clean prompt serviceDidnt have to wait long to receive what I ordered. Also not expensive at all. I recommend g Bagel Central to all my friends and family. Yummy yummy in my tummy.
FULL SERVICE DELI!Not just a bagel place.I wish i had a deli half this nice in my city!Great prices great quality.5 star experience every time.
A great addition to Bangor life and culture. Tasty soups, salads, and of course bagels and lox. Friendly informal atmosphere.
For a Bagel Place, the bagels felt somewhat doughy similar to what you would expect from the grocery store. Cream cheese is also served on the side which can be a plus or negative depending on your preferences. They do however have many other pastry and breakfast options available. Personally had the pumpkin chocolate chip french toast which was very delightful and a unique experience. Prices are also very reasonable with a great atmosphere and large indoor dining.
We live in NYC and we still love the bagels, cream horns, and their breads here. My favorite are toasted bagel-any bagel, with low fat cream cheese for breakfast, pizza bagel with green pepper and onion for lunch and they also have lentil veggie soup with hot sauce available to mix it to your liking. DeliciousOmelette with broccoli cheddar. We visit Maine a lot and we make it a point to stop by for some of our favorite food.
By far the best salmon cream cheese bagel Ive ever had in my entire life. I also have an incredible assortment of delicious desserts that you must get your hands upon.
Local bagel shop in downtown Bangor. Very popular restuarant providing a wide range of breakfast and lunch entrees.Excellent place for a small meeting between friends or business associates. Though quite busy, it was not hard to hold a conversation.Excellent food and service. It is a must stop for the downtown area.
First time visiting Bangor,my hotel was a block away and I wish this place was located where I live. I enjoyed it that much. So many items on the menu!
Great food. Reasonable prices.tasty food
Great find today! My niece is gluten, dairy free, vegan and plant based and there were options for her even! Very nice staff too! Go in order, check out menu ahead of time online) then sur and wait for number to be called... honestly we didnt have an easy order and had food pretty quickly. Home fries are unique they include peppers, onions and sweet potato along with regular potatoes..they were great! Fresh homemade bagels are yummy too!
Always great for breakfast of course, but definitely go for lunch if you havent. Excellent sandwiches, and a few vegetarian and vegan options too, aside from the build your own.
The best bagels Ive ever had!! Love this cute spot. It will definitely be a regular stop.
Tasty bagels. I enjoyed my egg and cheese on a plain bagel. Its not a NY bagel, but its very satisfying and far better than anything you normally get in Northern Maine.
The order taker was kind and pleasant. Good things stop there. After waiting for nearly a half hour for two sandwiches and about 8 orders were done before mine, the sandwiches were cold. Ordered a Reuben and mine had no sauerkraut on it. Ate in the park nearby so didnt bother going back in as they were busy. No distanced seating, nobody wiped a single table and they were crumb filled. The silverware were all out for everyone to touch and handle; right now thats not something you want to see. Also, the workers handled the replacement silverware by the eating parts and not the handles.
The food was good, not overly expensive. I’m rating it 4/5 because there was a long line and it took a long time to order because of a new employee who was a bit slow. Other than that it was great and I recommend you come here for a breakfast
I finally had the opportunity to explore downtown Bangor and a stop at Bagel Central was definitely on my top list of priorities since my daughter highly recommended it to me. When I stepped inside, I found it to be so charming! I loved the variety of seating including bar-style seating along the expansive front windows where you can people-watch to your heart’s content. There are also regular tables as well as many long tables so Bagel Central can easily accommodate groups of most any size. (There is even a meeting space with seating up to 20 people with optional catering next door for about $20 an hour.) As I waited in line to order, I was happy to see there were three cashier’s which helped to keep the line moving. I was impressed by their array of pre-bottled drinks (including various juices and kombucha) as well as the selection of handcrafted drinks, Bagel flavors, variety of specialty cream cheeses and yummy-looking bakery items. (And I have not even told you about their soup, sandwich and salad options, yet – oh my!!) There are a few seasonal drinks, too… I believe I might grab a Raspberry-Lime Rickey before its off the menu. Everything here is handmade with no preservatives and is made on-premises. They use natural ingredients and fresh produce. (It was refreshing to see that they dont use chemicals or preservatives!) There are a number of vegan and dairy free options as well. There is a QR Code for online ordering and daily specials. For my inaugural visit, I chose a hot coffee with cream (simple and yummy), a plain Bagel with low-fat vegetable cream cheese (DELICIOUS with fresh rated carrot, bell pepper and scallion) and a side of bacon (perfectly cooked) – all for the low price of $7.34. After the delicious breakfast I had, I can completely understand why it’s pretty busy in here… and I *can’t wait* to come back!!
Im doing landscaping in the park next door to Bagel Central I will be going there every day I work in the park. I love bagels and pastries its like finding a gold mine for me. Yummy! 💞👍
Was wanting to grab something quick from here on my way out of town so I just got a bagel and cream cheese. I waited over 40 minutes for this, which was sadly disappointing and frustrating. My order ended up being more of cream cheese featuring a bagel, they must of had Bananas T Bears making a fresh one for Paul Bunyan instead of me. @StephenKing amirite?
Excellent cream tomato soup and open-face tuna melt for lunch the other day on a cool afternoon. Desserts are to-die-for delicious!! Love, love Bagel Central and would recommend over and over.
Really nice coffee shop and bakery. Bagels were good, definitely worth it. The salmon cream cheese was excellent.
Best bagels in the world (Ive had many lol)
Run very efficiently and organized. Gets pretty busy on weekends during brunch hours. Place is big and gets pretty noisy. Has good wifi.
Surprisingly good bagel sandwiches and bagel pizza. Turkey w/ Swiss cheese and Russian dressing was awesome. Although the Russian was unrecognizable to me, it was very good.
The blueberry bagel and everything bagel were great. This place has a great atmosphere as well. Definitely a good spot to grab some breakfast.
All of their baked goods and sandwiches are incredible. Im especially fond of the sesame water bagels. They are really really good. Im trying to figure out how to make the apple pie stuffed muffin. They are incredibly yummy. I cant find a recipe for it anywhere, so I just get one every time Im there. :) Bonus, the coffee is delicious. My husband and I find excuses to come to Bangor from Mt Desert so we can get brunch and pastries at Bagel Central.
Honestly, after spending years of going to Bagel Cafe in Camden and having a friend give this place a good review im kind of let down, consistency of the bagel here is not the consistency of a true bagel, these were very much like conventional bread like. I wouldnt recommend if you are looking for a good authentic boiled bagel. And if this is your regular and you make it to Camden sometime, be sure to hit the Bagel Cafe up.The taste wasnt bad....just not a bagel.
Great bagels and breakfast! So needed and they were open on a holiday too. Very happy with our find here
Supe selection of bagels, baked goods and sandwiches. Really efficient service and easy parking. The acoustics can get a bit loud (its a big, open space) but the texture and flavor or the bagels and goodies are so, so worth it .. or just take out! Top tip: stop by before heading to the airport for a high quality brown bag lunch.
Always fast, friendly, and delicious. I’ve visited upwards of 100 times and have never had a bad experience. Honestly the best part of Bangor.
Ummm... YES!?!? Why WOULDNT you come here...??? 😳 Let me just say the onion bagel with lox, scallion cream cheese, tomato, red onion was ON... POINT. ❤❤❤ AAAND... they dont have just one ServSafe Certification on the wall... thet have 7. SEVEN!!!! This is a great atmosphere too. Please go here??? And the cream cheese croissants.... I wanna bring this back to Ohio!!!
Order at the counter. Selection of bagels, sandwiches, pastries....highly recommend the apple muffin which has a sweet pastry outside and chopped apples inside. Bagels are large and soft with a a good variety to choose from.
Amazing place for breakfast. Loved my salmon bagel a lot.
Great staff and plenty of room to sit and enjoy.
First time here the staff was friendly, very patient and quick fast service! THE BAGELS WERE DELICIOUS!!! Like nothing I’ve ever had before. So so so good! Wish I lived closer and I would be there every day (may be a good thing lol). Definitely will be returning when in the area!
Everything was delicious! Had the nova, blueberry bar, herb bagel w/ veggie crea
EXCELLENT food and service! Wide range of food choices. The bagels are the best this Mid Westerner has ever had! Highly Recommend.
Busy but worth every second. Got a 12 dozen of bagels with honey butter. OMG so good and the bagels are so fresh!!
I got Pasta salad today. It was stale and was rotten. I had to throw all of it.
This is THE place to go for bagels and schmears in Bangor. Ive only gotten takeout (bagels, cream cheese, sliced smoked salmon -- aka lox), but the dine-in breakfast and lunch menu looks great too. I havent had out of town guests during the pandemic. But if I did, Id take them to Bagel Central for brunch.
Good food joint. Loved the egg bagelwich and avocado sandwich. Everything bagel was good. Bit expensive and very crowded. Long lines for order & then wait for delivery.
Love this place! Their food is amazing!
Most people go for the amazing bagels but don’t miss the excellent sandwiches as well
Tasty bagels. For some reason when I stopped by I had to wait a long time to get my order but Im guessing that is not normally the case.
Amazing food. Make sure too check what you got if you ordered through the phone. The missed so many items for me and charged me extra for items which i never asked them for
Excellent food. Awesome atmosphere!
All the of us got a bagel each and I got a coffee. The bagels were very, very good quality. The coffee was very good as well. We will definitely be coming back here frequently.Total bill for 3 bagels with butter, 2 chocolate milks and a small coffee was less than $12.
We ordered a pick up order and ate in the park. It was delightful! I will definitely head back there next time I visit Bangor!
One of the best bagel breakfast I have ever had!!! Must try!
Great place! Food was great at a really reasonable price. In the heart of Downtown Bangor! Great coffee too!!
Bagel Central is the best!! High quality bagels at a very affordable price. The blueberry bagels are incredible. The long line on the weekends is well worth the wait!
Great bagel, delicious omelet, perfect sweet tea. Fast and friendly service. Ill be back soon
Nice breakfasts. and great pastries. gazpacho soup is fabulous
Bagels were amazing. Cream horns sadly werent fully filled. The coffee was really tasty.
Really good bagels 🥯 But, the wait is pretty long for some bagels. About 20 minutes.
We go here every single week. Its such a great breakfast place, great homemade food with lots of options. And it’s inexpensive! Also try the zucchini chocolate cake if you go, it will change your life.
Home made meals and desserts. 100’s of combinations
Best bagel and lox in the area. A quintessential Bangor dining experience.
Cool place food was good. Would have given it a 5 but the bathroom was not usable.
Every time I visit from out of state, I make it a point to come here. Big fan of the soups and all the different daily specials. The beautiful atmosphere just makes it even better!
They have a good section of vegan stuff! :)
The people and bagels of bagel central are great. Its an excellent breakfast spot if thats what youre after. Their spanakopita and hamantaschen- also very good! That said, if youre going there for much else the quality kinda dips. The only thing I would outright dissuade folks from grabbing is the coffee (watery) and potato pancakes (greasy, doughy and very saddening).
Great place for breakfast, lunch, or just to hang out and do some work.
Huge selection and very modest prices for the quality offered. Very popular on any given day, but the line moves very quickly.
Today was my first time at bagel central and I had the BLT...it was awesome!! Great service as well!
The standpipe. So good.
My only complaint is that they dont have any flavor options for the tofu cream cheese. Otherwise, my favorite breakfast spot in town!
