One of the best local bookstores around. Cynthia the owner is so kind and helpful. So many different books to choose from or even have her order them for you.

Drove an hour to visit this store to support an independent bookstore in VT as my gf and I are making efforts to visit every one in VT. Had a hard time finding it and then when we did there was just a sign saying they went to the beach and to order online. Might try to visit again but not a great first impression.

Cynthia and Next Chapter have been a great source for my book needs during the pandemic. I am able to order online and pick up my purchases from the store. Cynthia has always been super friendly and helpful. Support your local bookstore!

Very friendly helpful people! Last time I called they didnt have the books I was looking for but had them in the store three days later. Note that they have moved and the picture showing their Main Street facing location is now inaccurate.

When we travel, we enjoy supporting independent book stores. We are always pleased with the personalized service and the unique charm of each store... However, in this case, we didnt even have the opportunity to see the charm. The woman who was behind the counter was less than pleasant. When Wife#1 asked if there was an available rest room, the woman was quite rude. There was clearly a bathroom in the childrens section of the store. Im not sure why we were not allowed to use it. We would have stayed to browse and would have, more than likely, made a purchase; but we chose, instead, to move on...

As usual, service was excellent. I love the wide array of gift selections and of course, the wonderful inventory of books. A favorite book haunt!

I love that the bookstore is run by local people who are passionate about what they do. Staff are always helpful and friendly. I also enjoy that the bookstore is friendly to a range of ages :-)

Ive had a dismal experience on the customer service side of this bookstore.I mistakenly ordered a book from Next Chapter in early June. I meant to order from a store of the same name in St. Paul, MN. After a little phone tag, I was able to get in touch with the owner and we arranged for the book to be shipped to me...Fast forward to a month and a half later, the book still hasnt arrived and none of my messages have been returned.As a former bookseller and current indie bookstore patron, this really bums me out. No book, no refund, and no communication. This review is the LAST chapter in my attempt to understand what the hell happened. For your money, patronize Next Chapter in Barre, VT in-person. If something goes wrong with your shipped order, they will leave you high and dry.

Next Chapter Bookstore is by far the nicest book shop in the area. Cynthia and her staff are so helpful in assisting you with finding the perfect book. And if by some chance they do not have it in stock, they get it shipped to the store for you super-fast at no extra cost. And after you are done getting your new book, you can stop in for a Bagel next door!

I am thankful to Cynthia at Next Chapter. I order books for school and home use. My questions are always answered quickly, books are ordered if not in stock and they arrive just when Cynthia says they will. I also love their note cards and stationary!

I started to do some shopping there and set aside a card to purchase while I continued to browse. I asked the shop owner if I could use the restroom. She told me I wild have to go next door to the bagel shop or to the shops on the other side of the store. The bagel shop was closed and the other restrooms were locked with signs that the were only available for customers of those stores I had to then leave and find another place to use a restroom. I will not go back to that book store. After reading the other review, it is clear that the owner is not service oriented. I will advise my friends to avoid going there.

Kid friendly and helpful local book store that has a little bit of everything.

Went into the store recently to see if they had a book I wanted.. They didnt have it in the store but the woman at the desk told me that she could order it online and it would be in the following Friday.. The book I ordered was The Wiccan Bible. I called the store that following Friday and my book wasnt in yet. I waited a few days and then went down to the book store to see if my book was in.. The owner of the store told me that my book wouldnt be in until she got an order of 15 of the same books, so she could get free shipping... I have never heard in my life about this sort of rule in a book store... I waited another couple of days then I sent my boyfriend down to get my money back. Had the sales slip proving I paid for the book, he went in to get my money back. The daughter of the owner of this book store said that they didnt give refunds, I could only have store credit. My opinion if this woman continues to run this book store in an unfair way then her business will not last long in this town.

Went in while walking around and my wife and I purchase a few books. We then went outside and waited around till the rain slow down, we were reflecting on the price of the book and how we misunderstood one of the sale signs that were up. An employee literally walked outside and told my wife and I to stop complaining that it was clearly marked. We have not and will not be back every again. STAY AWAY!!!!!Very Rude!!!
