What can I say, Sam is a great guy!!I brought my car in to get my brakes done, I dropped it off and went for a walk. On my walk Sam called me and said “Hey, I have good news and bad news, which would you like first?” Of course I said give me the bad news first so I can at least have a happy ending…we chuckled and continued the conversation.He said you know since you own a foreign car the parts are going to be expensive, so I have two options for you:1. The Very expensive plan (paraphrasing)2. The not so expensive but expensive as well.SHOOT! :(BUT, with the deals that we have going on, I can get you in at a comfortable price.Cool, let’s go with option 2!We disconnected, and about 10 minutes later he called me back with more bad news, he said “Sir, you have been misinformed, the person who previously worked on your car broke the sensor, and you will NOT need to replace your brakes”Than he proceeded to offer another option at more than half the price I was willing to pay in the first place for option 2!Long story short(er)…Sam, I want to say Thank you, and your Crew for getting me in and out in no time flat!Best regards,One Happy Customer

I recently brought in my Corvette for an estimate. A very young porter decided to drive my car into the shop with the parking brake engaged because he simply couldn’t figure out how to disengage it, despite being several people including myself he could have asked. Needless to say I was furious and did not end up using this Midas. I am taking in my Corvette to the dealer I and this Midas will be hearing from me if anything needs to be replaced. An honest mistake is one thing, utter negligence is another.

The staff does a lot more then oil changes, they have always respected my vehicle and have done a great job for a fair price on anything they have ever done for me. The manager Tim is extremely knowledgeable and doesnt seem to push you into a direction you shouldnt go. Great place to take you vehicle!.

They took care of my brake rotors quickly and did a great job.

Customer service: outstanding in every way — great communication at every step in the process; Rebecca is professional, personable, and caring; the whole team is super polite and kind. They ALWAYS try to accommodate your schedule. Competence: Tim and his team kept me safe in my beloved 19-yr-old car until I was ready to upgrade. Honesty: always reasonably priced. Last time I brought my old car in, it needed quite a bit poured into it. Asked Tim if he thought I should make the repairs/upgrades or if it was time to buy another car. He said, “Put the repair money toward your next car. But do it soon.” That’s honesty. Quality: I have never had an issue with any repair they’ve done. The place is immaculate, and they’re taking all precautions to keep you and themselves healthy. I would never go anywhere else, and you shouldn’t either. Even if there’s a good mechanic closer to you. Go the extra distance to put your car in the hands of Tim and his team. When you do, you’ll be the one writing like this. 🙂

Tim did a great job helping me out with the front brakes on my traverse. It turned into multiple comebacks but Tim was patient and professional throughout the whole ordeal. Ive been bringing my car to this Midas since they opened. Not only are Tim, Becca, and the team honest, knowledgeable, and passionate about the care of cars, they cannot rest until theyve solved even your most difficult problem. My 19-year-old CR-V has presented them with some real posers, and they have gone way above and beyond the call of duty to figure them out and fix them in a way I can afford. No one in my family will ever go anywhere else!

Did good job.Bought tires from TireRack.com they give you choice of places to deliver tires to and each places price to install. Did 2 sets of 4 tires two weeks apart. Midas refused to honor their published price on Tire Rack. Dont know why Tire Rack has a Midas price that Midas refuses to honor. Sure stinks of bait and switch.

Worst mechanics ever. They wont give old parts back cuz they never replaced them but had a 500.00 invoice for not even fixing the problem.

My elderly dad brought his car in to have the brakes checked because of grinding. He ended up needing breaks. He said a young gentleman named Trevor took care of his car. He said he left out of the there knowing exactly what was done. He also rotated the tires for him.Thank you, Trevor, for taking care of my dad and getting him out and without worries!

Ive been taking my car to Midas in Barrington for years and am very happy with them. Mufflers, brakes, tires & electrical work - they know what theyre doing, theyre honest and have good prices without any games. (Im one of those rare birds who like to change their own oil - its one of the few things I can still do on a car).Years ago, it was under a different ownership and those bad reviews were probably well deserved. But since Steve bought the place a few years back, the service has been exceptionally good and I recommend them wholeheartedly.

Do not go to this Midas. They redefine HORRIBLE. They are rude and only 1 person on their staff is trained in automotive repair. Time estimates are extremely unreliable. Rude. Not Skilled. Their coupons and prices reflect their terrible quality of work. Warning do not go to this Midas. They screwed up my sedan and I still cannot get them to admit it and repair. Clowns.

I went to another repair shop 3 x for the same problem. Stopped in at Midas in Barrington and the young lady at the counter told me they will help me. I was so relieved, they fixed my coolant problem and I was on my way in a timely manner. Will differently recommend them and will be back to purchase tires soon from there shop. The customer service at this store is unbeatable by anyone else in the area. I stopped at the Toyota dealer and they were rude to me and there was a long wait time to even check why the check engine light was on. Went to Midas in Barrington and they said they could help me out. The reason why the light was on because a hose was unhooked from the engine. What a company would normally charge $40+ for, they looked at my car and reconnected the hose for free. We will be going to them for all future problems with cars. Would recommend to anyone!

They tried telling me that several expensive parts needed to be replaced after hitting a curb. I talked to a mechanic friend of mine and he just couldnt believe what they told me. I had my car towed to a different shop and I was up and running for 25% of what they quoted me.To be fair there were minor issues with the parts they wanted to replace but nothing critical and I was pretty clear about just wanting the minimum done to repair the damage from the curb. The work they wanted to do was simply pre existing wear and not related to what I asked them to do.All in all they made minor issues seem like a huge problem and tried to pressure me into over $2000 in work on a car thats worth $3500.

I have nothing but positive feedback for Barrington Midas. I dont post many reviews but after my experience and seeing the negative reviews in the past I felt that I should give my two cents as I believe that this business has recently come under new ownership and I dont feel the prior posts accurately reflect this shop. Admittedly, I only had standard maintenance type work done (oil change, tire rotation.. ) but I wouldnt hesitate to take my vehicle back for more extensive service. The owner Sam was very straightforward with the expected wait time. They did identify some areas that could become issues in the future, but I didnt have the time to address at that visit. The issues were things that had been suggested before so I dont feel that I was being mislead or sold. I didnt feel like I had to have my guard up because I was being sold a bill of goods. Overall Sam and Becca were helpful and polite. I would not hesitate taking my car back to this shop and would be recommend this shop to others that need to get work done in the Barrington area.

If I could give less I would. These mechanics are full of sheiße. I will be contacting the BBB. They have fed me nothing but lies. I told them after the work they did my car was still misfiring. After spending 400 dollars to fix a problem it was still not fixed. I told them I was taking it to another mechanic to get a second opinion and they erased my codes on my car so the other mechanics couldnt find whats wrong. Jokes on you Midas. After 150 bucks the other place had my car up and running just fine. I will never go here again. SCAMMERS at the least. I hope those lies come back to bite your own cars in the trunk.

Is there a way to give less than one star and report these people for SCAMS? Long story short, took my car in for one thing, came back with almost $1500 worth of items to fix. Check this out... The items that were priority came to about half that price including a power steering pump, flush, etc... Two of the guys there (Steve and the guy from Greece) scammed together... brought me out to the car several times to look at the OIL leaking all over the car....after realizing I wasnt falling for the ENGINE OIL LEAK story, they claimed it was a power steering fluid and pump issues and that the entire PS pump/system had to be replaced... they literally literally had OIL all over the place... took it to TWO other places after to get second/third opinions... BOTH places were like...UM, how the heck do you get Power steering fluid on the inside ROOF of the car? They both said...if OIL or FLUID was leaking like THAT from the car, the car would have either blown up long ago, caught fire or wouldnt have any oil left in it. BOTH places said it looked like oil had been sprayed all over the place and the Barrington Midas place was trying to pull one over on me.THIS IS EXACTLY WHY MANY WOMEN (I suppose men too) are leary of mechanics...because there are always some idiots trying to scam people out of money. I took my car to a wonderful place 20 minutes away and they fixed my car for under $700. My car runs like a gem now and the guys are trustworthy.I could go on with the details but Im wasting my time. THE POINT IS... DONT EVER TAKE YOUR CAR HERE EVER! Total scam... The owner is even trying to get people to buy this Midas location because he doesnt want it anymore. SCAM SCAM SCAM... not to be trusted.

I was in a pinch, wheel bearing went out on my truck and I was running late for a very important event. They rushed in and fixed right away. Not to mention I was 1hr from home and 45 min from my event. VERY friendly and were very honest, even told me I didnt have to replace a part I thought we had to. Highly recommend them. If I lived nearby I would continue to bring vehicles here for service. Sonu the owner shook my hand and smiled while he spoke, didnt make me feel at all uncomfortable.Midas in barrington deserves more than 5 stars for their efforts. Thank you all so very much!!

How this place has a good rating with the BBB is beyond me. STAY CLEAR AWAY FROM HERE. THEY WILL TRY AND MAKE YOU PURCHASE UNNECESSARY PARTS AT OUTRAGEOUS PRICES AND THEN ARGUE WITH YOU IF YOU REFUSE.We brought a truck in for hub assembly replacement; we had our own parts - spoke with STEVE and he said no problem with the fix. After they looked at the truck Steve came back with we need brakes, a new axle, etc...and the cost for THEIR axle is $350.00! My husband informed him we dont need brakes as they were just done last year, and that we can purchase our own axle for $75.00. He called my husband a liar and began shouting at him and mocking him. My husband is disabled and has a disabled placard in the truck. Steve picked up his placard and started shouting at him youre not disabled, you walked in here just fine and kept waiving it around calling my husband a scammer. My husband has congestive heart failure and many other problems. Steve humiliated him and kept screaming at him. Steve then locked our truck in their shop saying that if we dont let them install an axle or do the break job, then they wont install the hub. My husband had to call the police to get our truck out of their building. After my husband left, Steve took a customers black volkswagon and followed him to flip him off. Very sick individual, we have filed complaints and plan on going to court. STAY AWAY

There is no record of a Nicolas Perkins ever visiting Midas of Barrington. He has never been a customer and has never had any work done here.Joanne McInerney of Harvard, IL who has never been here, has a husband who threatened to punch me in the face before I ever gave him any estimate for his dangerous axle. We never said anything about his brakes but his axle was rusted away and had no threads left holding it on. He was speed walking back and forth like a madman and yelled at my technician for test driving his vehicle. He was acting out and scared my daughter who works for me and the other customers. After reading this slanderous attempt to hurt my family business, I see that I should have pressed charges rather than just asking him to leave. It makes you wonder, if they drove all the way here because every other shop evicted them as well.Why people like this write reviews for businesses that they have never had any work done at, has cost them nothing, and then try to destroy a business that has thousands of happy customers with an A+ rating from the BBB is beyond comprehension. You can always tell who the unreasonable false people are. They always write their reviews in large capital letters and warn people to stay away.Truth Seeker needs to understand the basic laws of physics, especially: centrifugal force. The underside of the hood of the car had oil sprayed all over it because the serpentine belt was flinging it in a 360 degree clockwise pattern everywhere in the engine compartment. It is amazing that it did not start a fire, but I have seen a lot worse driven on the roadways shared by our children on the streets of Barrington. I can not walk outside this shop for one minute without hearing a vehicle go by with scraping brakes, loud exhaust, or banging suspension. This state needs to enact annual safety inspections to get dangerous vehicles like Truth Seekers off the road.Also, dont shoot the messenger who warned you of the poor condition of your car. Especially when you are not even a paying customer and just using us for a free estimate.
