Best Indian food that we have found. Great spice levels, taste, and excellent service. I highly recommend the Biryani.
One of the best Indian restaurants in Seattle area and I know what I’m talking about, I’ve been in 99% of them and I’m not even Indian myself. Can’t say much about service because I mostly order it for to go or delivery, but food is awesome.Highly recommend butter chicken curry + garlic naan.
The food was pretty tasteful for the most part but super hot spicy it seems as if the people do not understand what mild is I requested no spice at all but my mouth is still burning
Such a flavorfilled meal of lamb curry and butter chicken! Delicious and plentiful! GreatFriendly service! Super Indian dinner!
Bad food. No spice even though I mentioned to make it spicy. The food was bland. Would not recommend if you are looking to try good authentic Indian food.
We got some take out tonight and it did not disappoint! Delicious fresh naan bread, butter chicken, and very tasty samosas! Thank you for including a complimentary dessert too. We’ll be back!
Wow ordered delivery and the food was so good!! I ordered daal tarka, aloo gobi, basmati rice, and garlic naan. The daal tarka had an amazing texture and rich flavor. The aloo gobi had one of the most savory flavors for a veg dish without lentils that I have ever had. The naan was good, but hard to judge a naan thats not served fresh in the restaurant. The basmati rice was fantastic, seasoned with cumin seeds (I think), and had a tender and chewy texture. Ordered one of the dishes medium and one hot. The hot was haaaaat but in a good way. Ill have to try the very hot some time when Im looking to really get some jet fuel. Will be back, hopefully again and again and again.
I found a huge fried house fly in my chicken biryani. Super duper gross. Tasted good until I found the fly. Ugh.
2 star for the service(picking up the phone) and getting the order done on time.Food was the worst I had anywhere in Kingd County, even worse than I had it at India Gate before COVID-19.Curries tasted like they were prepped a day before and warmed up for the order. I dont understand why do you have to add so much food coloring in the curry.Rice tasted like they have gone bad as well or from a day before.I used to like this place before COVID-19, had a lot of buffets, because my office was next door. Guess what, I dont think I am gonna order from here again.
Amazing!!!!!! Great curries (tikka masala for example) and super spicy if youre into that!
The best Indian food ever. Beats our favorite spots in SF and NYC. Come here once a week, if not more. Love you India Gate!
Although the food might seem picture perfect, but they are doing a very bad job at flavors. The chicken karahi I ordered was supposed to be spicy and it turned out sweetish. I even had mentioned in my order to make the curry extra spicy. The gulab Jamun that I ordered were the worst I ever tried in Seattle area and not even close to any place in India.I dont think I will order again from here.
Ordered via Github, worst indian food I,ve ever had. Burnt naan and salty curries.
This restaurant serves the the best Indian (North Indian) food in the eastside. We order only vegetarian food and we love it.Dal Tadka, Shahi Paneer, Baingan Bharta are our favorites. Butter naans are awesome too. We will be ordering food/visiting many more times in the future.
Their lassis are bussin
Delicious and not too expensive. For people that remember how cash works it saves 10%!
The front staff are always very nice about those with dietary restrictions and the restaurant has multiple options to accommodate them.
We moved close by and eat here probably once a week - it never disappoints. This has become our go-to Indian restaurant for covid quarantine (and otherwise!). The food is always great (I usually get channa masala, my boyfriend gets chicken korma, and we split some samosas and naan), its always ready quickly, and the staff are so sweet. I highly recommend!
This place is amazing. My family and I have been going here for 10+ years. Never disappoints! Customer Service is fantastic and food is always 10/10.
The hostess at the front has the most beautiful eyes Ive ever seen. If shes single Id totally marry her. Will deliver here again.
Excellent food and the front staff. Owner decides to treat orders at his whim and let people wait for up to 30 min more than the time they were told. Unprofessional and annoying. Next time verify if they can really deliver on time...
Fantastic food and great service. If you’re looking for great lockdown food, this is the spot. We ordered saag paneer and the butter chicken with garlic naan. Huge amount of food for 2-4 people. They included a cup of Kheer (rice pudding) with our Togo order which I have never had but will certainly be ordering next time. Don’t miss out on this place, it’s awesome!
Delicious!! We always get their butter chicken, lentil soup, tandoori chicken, and mango lassi. 🥰
Loved the food. The lunch buffet isnt big, but I found it quite good. Better than having lots of stuff at low quality. Relaxed and quiet atmosphere. Got married nearby years ago and after all the wedding photos we were famished so we decided to stop in for a quick bite. We were quite a sight in a tux and wedding dress! They gave us a complimentary lunch for the wedding. We stop by to eat every now and then for good food and fond memories. Love this place.
THE BESThas been my favorite restaurant for 10 years, always 10/10, delicious consistent food and the people that work there are fabulous. I couldn’t recommend more.
Ordered food from them and it was pretty bad. There was no flavour, just color. Dessert was good, though. Would not recommend ordering, especially if you grew up in India
Mutton Biryani was greasy fried rice with old hard mutton pieces dumped in. Never again.
I was in the area working from out of state, and two co-workers and I decided on Indian for dinner. We chose India Gate because it was close to our hotel. We really enjoyed our dining experience.I really enjoyed dining here. The staff friendly and attentive with prompt service. The food was very good and fresh. Some of the best Indian food I have had in a while.I would highly recommend dining here if you enjoy Indian food or would like to try it for the first time. You wont be disappointed.
One of the best Indian-style buffet lunches in Bellevue, if not the best. Excellent customer service. Food is absolutely delicious. Ive been coming here since 1997 and they have always exceeded my expectations.
Great place! We place our order online and pick it up quickly with no contact. Average time between order being submitted and available for pickup ( we order around 4: 30pm, to pick up after work) is about 30-35 minutes (we order a lot of entrees). When going inside to pick up there is only one person in the main lobby to facilitate any help and they wear a mask. They make it easy to order online through chownow.Portions ValueIm one of those people who care about how much I get for my money and I always get irritated when restaurants cant tell you how much food youre getting. I dont have to worry about that with India gate we get this at least once a month to give me a break from being the main household cook for the week. The portions are generous when it comes to the carbohydrates such as rice, naan, etc. The portion is still good for the curries you get at least 16 oz and we like to order a couple different curries w/some rice so we dont have to cook for the week on our busy weeks. The food still tastes fantastic even 3 days later for lunches/dinners.Im writing this as we just finished doing our third order from them and would love to see them continue to be open as they are staple for us now.Food rating/recommendAs for which dishes I recommend (because every place has its super stars). It depends on what you like as a flavor. What we consistently find ourselves getting is the biryani rice, shahi paneer, mango/ginger chicken, lamb karahi, and the mango lassi. Weve had some of the naans they were okay standard naan nothing too out of the ordinary. I do personally like the (potato stuffed naan)alu kulcha, my SO says its a bit simple/plain but sometimes I want something simple alongside bursts of curry flavor.I would say we havent had a bad dish yet. Some where a little lackluster in direct comparison to their superstars, but that kind of happens when you compare side-by-side no matter where you go. If youve never had Indian food this is a great place to try. If youve been around (like us) and you just want something consistent its a great value. We went digging around the menu and found our favorites.Just to add to how much we like this place my SO is making a Google keep note of our personal dish reviews . We like to think we are foodies, for us we have not had a bad experience and we have mastered their hot medium mild rating system. We have yet to try the fish but when we do Ill probably have my SO put up their review in regards to the fish dishes.Overall I give this place I solid B+ I know there are probably fancier more authentic places out there but this does the job for us and its reasonably priced. My rating may not match yours and its because everyones wants different things and have different paletes. I hope I expanded upon our paletes, our expectations, and what went into how we rated this. I cant stand to see short reviews that say foods great/bad and dont tell you why in detail.
We used to be regulars and take out at least once a week. They are always super friendly and the food is delicious. Portions are generous and prices are great! We’ve had Indian cuisine in many different cities and countries across the globe. It’s not my all time favorite, but it’s definitely in the top 5 (hard to beat Boston or Chicago!). Now that we moved I’m missing this little gem terribly! Good Indian food is hard to find!
Super-great service and good food as well. Our son’s family eats here a lot and it’s their favorite Indian restaurant! I didn’t take pictures, but we enjoyed several dishes and really liked the rice dishes. We’ll go back!
Delicious. We ordered take out and it was fast, accurate and the portions were big. Even got a free rice pudding. Yumm!
Absolutely excellent lunch buffet. Price has gone up in recent years, but its in Bellevue, what did you expect.
Been here several times and have eaten the buffet and ordered off the menu. This particular time I ordered the buffet. The food is always good and this time was no exception. The reason for the 3 stars is because the wait staff was very slow and uneager to please. I literally waited 10 minutes to have my drink refilled and as I write this review my dirty dishes are still sitting on my table. I definitely recommend this place because the food is out of sight. so long story short if you dont care about having your drink refilled or your waiter catering to you even just a little bit then by all means definitely come to this place.
Second time I’m ordering takeout from here and both times I have been very impressed with the taste of the garlic naan, the saag paneer, and the mango lassi! Food is very hot and fresh, delicious! And mango lassi drink is nice and thick, not watered down like some other places. Fast pick up for my takeout order and the lady working at the front is friendly. Definitely would recommend this place!
Awesome all you can eat lunch buffet. Amazing food and good service. Ive been there for their buffet 3 times and they offer mostly the same chicken dishes which are really good; and they seem to switch up their vegetarian dishes every time Ive been there. The vegetarian dishes are amazing as well. They even offer free chai and dessert with their buffet! I highly recommend their lunch buffet.
I tried this spot in the past with my friend and I am hooked since then. I enjoy the awesome character and fresh dishes and drinks. They never disappoint.
Very reasonably priced. Not a massive selection compared to other indian buffets Ive been to but everything was very tasty and high quality. Will be going back in the future.
Lovely takeout. Got a free kheer (keer?) with our order. Reliably delicious food.
Came in for the lunch buffet. A mix of different dishes to pick from, all of which are very good.Edit:Still thinking about this place a day after having it. Lunch buffet was that good.
Amazing food, great prices, generous portions. This was my first time having Indian food. I had the butter chicken, tried a couple of appetizers and naan. Delicious! Great service too!
Great service and awesome food! I saw another review that said the food was too oily so I wasnt sure about trying this place out, but Im glad I did. The lamb coconut curry was amazing, and garlic naan was perfect! The price was good at $14 for dinner, and Ill definitely be going back.
Just had a meal at India Gate that left a lot to be desired. Everything seemed watered down, thin and not very flavorful... the curry dish, the mint sauce, the tamarind sauce, even the rice pudding was like soup with a few grains of rice. This used to be a great place to eat, but my last three visits have been very disappointing. I do not recommend this restaurant!
Excellent chicken tikka masala. Their garlic nan is the best Ive had. Very friendly staff and reasonable prices.
Food was so so. Very limited Buffet items. I have definitely had better Indian food. But the non was good but we had to ask for it and it did not come with the buffet. But the servers were very kind to us as we stayed for an hour and a half and chatted so that was appreciated.
If you are from hyderabad and vegetarian do not order veg biryani. i order veg biryani even pulao in hyderabad is spicer than veg biryani here.
This place is incredible. The food is excellent and the people are super-nice. Easily the best Northern Indian food on the East-Side.
Friendly and attentive staff, fantastic food, and great prices. I would recommend this place for a nice meal out with friends or a casual lunch with co-workers.
Been eating here for over 10 years. The food is good overall. The butter chicken is very rich (cream and butter) compared to other places.
Our favorite Indian restaurant!!
Great service, amazing food. And who can forget the two Santas window art they did once :) the best around in my opinion
I loved the beautiful lady who welcomes all customers with her beautiful smile.. I went to the restaurant many times only to see her and her smile.. I love her :)
Staff is nice but food is below average. Its very oily and doesnt taste nice at all.Felt kind of sick after eating 😕
Very clean and friendly staff. I wish they had more than 1 restroom per gender so we dont have to wait if 1 is occupied. But in general, price is pretty reasonable
Good food good price. Not the best but above average. The service is good. Very prompt and to the point.
Always great service whether we dine in or take out to go. Food is amazing, the decor and service are simple and not overdone. Very comfortable. There has never been a time where we did not absoutely rave about the quality to our friends. We dine there about once a month. A treat not to be missed!
Awesome Indian food, with wide variety of appetizers, breads, rice dishes, vegetarian, desserts. Always a pleasure to eat here.
It was Ok. Degree of spiciness was on the mild side. Not everything on the buffet was hot enough temperature-wise. Service was perfunctory; not much joy being spread. I was in the area and thought I would try. Doubtful revisiting.
Food is great. Service is okay, can be improved. Chef needs Robbie careful in understanding what no spice means, several times our kids could not eat the food. Hope they improve on this front.
One of the worst Indian restaurants Ive been to in Seattle. About the best thing I can say is that it was clean. I had the lunch buffet, and it was terrible. I cant imagine that the normal menu is that much better, but theres a bunch of reviews saying that its great. I dont get it.
First time eating Indian food and it was amazing! Will definitely go back and get EXTRA garlic naan
Good food, friendly service. No indoor dining, but there afte tables outside.
The buffet is excellent with a wide variety of options. Very courteous service in an older facility. Perfect for lunch.
As someone who has lived in India for 20+ years, this place barely qualifies as Indian food. The chicken pakora was cooked horribly, I couldnt even cut it with a knife. The garlic naan was good but the ginger chicken was again horrible. I should have realized when I didnt see a single Indian eating here and walked out. Never again.
Sooo good!!! and amazing customer service. my favorite restaurant in bellevue :)
Love this place!!! The food, staff, atmosphere, ALL OF IT! Give it a try, you wont be disappointed. We order veg korma, paneer/tikka masala, and naan. Yum 💛
Amazing Indian food. Im a foodie who has eaten all around the world, and this place is top quality. The butter chicken is to die for, and everything else is equally as good.
We like to dine in for dinner. Food and service are both good.
Have gotten to know staff they are all very pleasant. Im not a huge volume eater, but I do like the buffet because they rotate dishes so its not always the same. I come here weekly. See you soon.
We moved away from the State 3 years ago and miss India Gate terribly! We love that restaurant. My wife visits the area once a year in February and always picks up about four takeaways of their wonderful lamb coconut curry with eggplant bharta (both 5☆), rice, and plain naan to bring home with her!! We have no Indian restaurants within 75 miles from where we live now and those just dont compare. India Gate is *the best*!
This is the only Indian restaurant my husband and I go to. Their food is great (I crave their Naan the most) and theyre friendly and very attentive. We dont consider trying new Indian restaurants, even the one thats just a block away from our building.
Friendly clean atmosphere, and great food. The lunch buffet has a great verity of both vegetarian and non-vegetarian choices. Closes after 2:30PM and re-opens at 4:30, so dont try to show up for a late lunch or early dinner!
The staff is amazingly courteous and food is awesome. Just hope your path doesnt cross with the owner who on his bad days gets offensive and insulting to the customers. I still visit this place for the good food and good staff it has!
This is only for the ones who feel authentic Indian food is all about oil and random spices. I was disappointed that there is nothing authentic about this place at all. The concept of cooking, the necessary blend of spices cooked with vegetables is just not known to them. I am disappointed - wish I could give it a bit better rating - but I cant. They destroy the food!
Love their dal tadka and navratan kurma. Receive great service from them every time
Ive been going to this restaurant for over 18 years (-1yr due to fire/renovations). The food is consistently awesome, tasty and fresh. Service is off the charts; they will go out of their way to make it right.
I just cam out if the restaurant..couldnt stay for more than 10 mins. The food is watery, this the worst Indian restaurant I have been in the last few months. At the end the guy who showed me the table said That was a quick lunchLol..if I stay for more than 10 mins there..I would end up in hospital for the worst food you serve.I am surprised how they Got four star for five. What a waste of money, this ruined my afternoon.
The lunch buffet was adequate, but not memorable. Too much chicken! Where is the lamb and goat? Also, the vegetarian options had too many starchy ingredients such as peas, carrots, chickpeas, lentils and potatoes. Where is the spinach? And for the record, a potato is not a vegetable. In short, it is very hard to find dishes that are Paleo and/or keto friendly. The flavors were mostly fine, but the lack of variety made it difficult to enjoy. Sadly, the chai was not palatable to anyone in the group. When I brought this to the attention of the staff (manager?) he told me he had tried it but was dodgy about if he liked it, which clearly meant No. One has to ask why a restaurant would serve their guests items that even the staff find questionable or offensive. Either they dont care or they completely lack and type of quality control.
The taste was good and flavorful. Didnt go for lunch but dinner was a-la-carte which had decent amount of selection. Price is at the higher side but since taste was good I was fine. In this area only Indian restaurant within next 4 miles so woul definitely come back.
The BEST Indian food! Peter was our server and he was very nice.
We had the lunch buffet. Nice selection of hot tasty choices.
Food was good. Bhindi awesome, but sagg wasn’t.Had a good time.
Really great Indian food and lassi. Love this place, especially their lunch buffet.
Went to Lunch buffet.Pros - Decent ambiance and customer serviceCons - Food not authentic in taste. The chicken Pakora was too oily. The other dishes were not well prepared too, including both veg and non veg.
Small but great buffet and I loved the icecream cone deserts. Great service too.
My family has been eating here for at least 10 years. By far my favorite Indian restaurant in the area. Paneer Tikka Masala is always delicious, perfect flavor and they are great at making it super spicy. If you need convincing on how good it is, I now live in West Seattle but still drive over to eat here. If they ever close down I will cry
The best Indian food you can find in Puget sound
I’ve liked this restaurant in the past and have not visited in at least a year. The food on the buffet was very poor quality. Burned onion in the cauliflower, poorly spiced and there was not much variety. Certainly it was at least a bad day to eat here.
Good for quick bite but lunch food could be much better and in general 3 from 5. Especially masala chai is really bad almost pure water. Prices are good and regular compare to Seattle region.
Traveling from Florida through Seattle. There are tons of authentic Indian places in FL so I know a good Indian place when I taste it. India gate was close to my hotel so I walked over there for their lunch buffet And was greeted and seated promptly. The food is good, and theres a decent selection. Not crazy flavors or anything, but it was good and I was hungry. It didnt seem to give my taste buds as much enjoyment as the food in Florida but it was still quite satisfactory. The only thing I was disappointed in was the Naan, it seemed a bit too doughyand didnt have that fresh bread feel. Still, this place its a solid 4 stars. Clean and friendly. Im sure there are better places in Seattle, but this place was still a great enjoyable experience.
The best Indian in the Seattle area for dinner. The lunch buffet is decent, but dinner is Devine.
Great Service that doesn’t bother you during your meal. The food is also Fantastic
Decent North Indian food. The service was better than some of the other Indian restaurants in the area.
