My wife and I brought a ~13 runner rug in for an appraisal. We purchased it second hand and had no idea what it was worth. Sam took one look at the rug, still rolled up in my hands, and told me what he thought it was worth (which is what we paid). He explained why after I asked his reasoning (weave density and location of origin).This would have been just fine, except for the fact that the rug store across the street told me the rug was worth 5x what Sam thought, 15 minutes prior to meeting Sam. The gentleman across the street unrolled the rug, looked it over, explained where and how it was made, and what material it was made of.Truthfully, Im confused. Sam seems trustworthy, but so did the gentleman across the street. Now I feel obligated to visit a third rug appraiser to dial in the value of my rug.I asked Sam to appraise the rug and he did. 4 stars.

We recently purchased two rugs from the Oriental Rug Gallery in Bellevue and could not be more pleased. Not only is there a large selection of rugs and to choose from, the service and input provided by the owner (Sam) was beyond what I expected.Our home is a condo with an open floor plan, and we use rugs to define the various areas. I brought along our color palette, which Sam was able to use when suggesting numerous options, several of which I would not have considered on my own. His color and design sense were “spot on”.To top it off, Sam personally delivered the rugs by carrying them to our home. Admittedly we are only a block away from the Gallery, but regardless of the distance you do not normally see this sort of service!

I took my rugs in to be cleaned,and repaired. They kept the price reasonable, and they are good to go for another 50 years. He has some exquisite silk rugs to die for, and soft wool rugs that are beautiful. If you go in to look, you will be able to find a great rug in various lengths and prices. They went out of their way to help, and were very knowledgeable.

Although I did not purchase a rug from this establishment, I was very pleased with my experience at this establishment! The gentleman was very knowledgeable and he took the time to openly share his experience and knowledge with me. I brought him two rugs that I purchased overseas and he was able to share with me all the history of how and where they made. My husband and I have had a life time love and appreciation of glorious Persian Rugs and have shopped in many places all over the world for these magnificent works of art. We bought our first rug in Europe in the 70s. We recently were delighted to find Sam at the Oriental Rug Gallery in Bellevue, Washington State. Last Thursday I had less then an hour to find a runner for the OEX.CLUB project. I had never been to the Oriental Rug Gallery in Bellevue but passed it several times.It was an excellent customer experience. I found what I wanted, quickly with the help of Sam and within my budget. Sam was very accommodating pulling out things to show me under piles of rugs. No high pressure sale which one so often finds in rug stores! He is also very knowledgeable about both the old rugs and the new rugs being made in Iran, China and India.It was no easy task to find a suitable oriental rug runner for a Ferrari red kitchen. The one I chose is a new rug, from India made from very fine New Zealand wool, but the design is an excellent interpretation/copy of the designs in the antique rugs I am more familiar with.Later when talking to friends about my experience they said many local designers say the same about the rug gallery as I am writing here.

I recommend this place. I didnt think that I would be able to afford a rug here with a box store budget, but the owner worked with me. I didnt pay ticket price for either of the rugs I bought. He was patient with me and showed me many rugs until we found the ones I loved. He included the pads.The quality is great. Ive never had such a nice rug so this was a big treat. I read online reviews of rugs from discount online retailers that pilled and shed so Im glad I went here and got a deal AND quality. There is a gold silk rug there that Ill be thinking about. Its stunning.They also clean and repair rugs.

Bought a rug from this place with a great discount. It seemed a little dirty in the dimmed lighting in the store, and the clerk assured is that it was just because its been sitting there for a long time. When we came home and looked at it with a better lighting, it looked significantly worse, hence decided to clean it. Cleaning company came back saying that before them the rug was cleaned with some heavy solutions to hide dirt, and it came back in even worse condition. We couldnt put it in our living room looking like that. My wife tried to reach out to the store owner, but he hatefully rejected all accusations, blaming everything on my kids, who didnt even have a chance to play on it even once.

I found Sam the owner to be the most knowledgeable in town. He helped us pick out the perfect rugs for our new home and I was very happy with my experience and service. Highly recommended!

I had bought a couple of rugs from vintage and fleas market in Europe; beautiful small pieces. Sam is very knowledgeable and advised on the merits of cleaning carpets in oil based versus water based cleaners. I visited other specialists too however he is the only who actually took the time to explain the process thus there was immediate trust. Highly recommended.

Sam is a true professional. About 15 years ago I purchased a beautiful but medium size Afghan carpet in Lahore Pakistan. Ever since then I wanted the same carpet but in a larger size to fit the exact dimensions of my living room. I thought about a return buying expedition but then I found Sam. No need, Sam has buyers all over the region. With just a picture of my smaller carpet Sams buyers were able to locate the same tribal weave for me and have the carpet sent to me by air. The price I paid for a genuine woven carpet of art museum quality was comparable to a machine made carpet. Why pay more for less carpet? We have collected oriental carpets for years from Europe and Asia. So, we were delighted to find the Oriental Rug Gallery with its collection of quality rugs. Sam, the owner, was most knowledgeable and helpful. He knew exactly what we were looking for and patiently assisted us to find the right rugs. His rugs were excellent and of course, he made us a great deal when we bought 3 rugs. He even threw in free pure rubber padding to protect our newly refinished hardwood floors. All in all it was an enjoyable experience working with Sam, and we learned a lot. We recently had a near panic after our dog had a messy accident on an expensive, oriental, wool rug of ours. Calling around to a few local rug shops and cleaners late in the afternoon, most were closed, very expensive, or would take weeks to do the job. We got ahold of Sam at the Oriental Rug Gallery and he gave us a reasonable estimate and told us to bring the rug down to him, even though he was closing soon. I got the rug right down to him, and he happily held his shop open for me after hours. He calmly reassured me that it would be no problem to clean the rug (Phew!) and gave me a very reasonable price, with an estimate of a 1 week turn-around. Well, 6 days later, Sam called to tell us the rug was ready, but we had a bit of a complicated afternoon as my wife was ill, so Sam personally delivered the rug to our home on his way home that night. I literally could not imagine better service from a business. Sam scored an A+ on this one, and well definitely be going to and referring people only to him from now on. Thanks again Sam!

He has a massive selection of superior quality rugs.Sam let me take home several rugs to try for color and also exchange another rug that I brought from NY for something that was much more appropriate in size and color.I would consider Sam my go to person for any oriental rug purchases.

Sam was able to tell me the rug was made between 1900-1910 in the city of Farhann, Iran. Also, the current value and the cost to restore the rub. Highly knowledgable and professional.
