I was greeted by a friendly waitress who brought coffee immediately. I was the only early morning customer. I ordered corned beef hash and eggs with toast and homefries; everything but the homefries were great. The home fries were just potatoes-no onions- and seemed to have been deep fried and were flavorless. The waitress brought numerous coffee refills. When I asked her about the homefries she said sometimes the cook deep fries them. He shouldnt - thats what the griddle is for. I would go again.
Fantastic service from Cindy. Delicious and filling breakfast. I had the Irish Benedict and my buddy had them make him an omelette. Both were flavorful, large portions, and served hot in a very short time. We found Sunnyside in a Google search of nest rated breakfasts near us and were not disappointed.

This place is an area icon. Decent breakfast reasonable price Their home fries are not deep fried like some of these breakfast joints. Here they always cook home fries on the grill.

Haha, YES! Brought a friend here from England for a “classic American diner” experience. It’s the PERFECT greasy spoon diner that I’d hoped for. We grew up outside of Pittsburgh going to places like this: friendly / chatty / quick witted waitstaff, quick / tasty / inexpensive food from the grill, “secret sauce” sold in a label-free glass bottle and to top it off, an over abundance of kitschy Americana decorations. QUINTESSENTIAL AMERICAN DINER!

Let me start off by saying that the Irish Benedict at Sunny side is absolutely amazing! I would have finished the meal if there wasn’t a hair in my food. I looked to the back and realized the cooks weren’t wearing gloves or hair nets! My waitress Francis handed the situation like a professional her customer service was a 10/10. Unless I see hair nets and gloves I will not be eating at sunny side.
Absolutely the best eggs & bacon joint this side of ya mamas house! Just good food done right, done quickly and best of all done exactly the way you want it ! Ive been to Sunnyside many times and I have NEVER had a bad meal or a bad experience. Aaa+++
Honestly, great place. Disregard the bad reviews about their goods or service. I read the reviews before going and all of them the accurate about the food. The food is amazing. Not sure if your a homefrie addict like me but at this diner they are out of this world. Crispy and crunchy delicious homefries and bacon. The eggs beni is also soooo good. Dont even get me started on the fluffy pancakes. They are like clouds when you are eating them. The eggs are a little greasy but hey your going to a diner not a five star restuarant. The prices are great because you get your monies worth from this place. The portion sizes are huge which is great. I have been in search for a good diner near me for awhile. This just won a new customer. The wait staff is amazing specifically Claire and it is so refreshing to see the owner on property during hours of operation. The restuarant is spotless and the employees wear masks. I cannot stress enough that you should go here!

Ate there yesterday morning....5 hours later came down with food poisoning fever...throwing up the whole nine yards.Knew i should of got up and left when i got a look at the lasy cooking outside smoking and never washed her hands once.NEVER AGAIN
It has a home-y feel, the place is clean, the staff are nice and accommodating and the food was amazingly delicious! Definitely recommend!

This place is a great diner.There is a friendly staff set up with the endearing What can I get for you hun? Good delicious diner food. They even have kielbasa and eggs, and baked beans with the breakfast! Its my new local favorite.They have a full set of provisions for the pandemic. Hand sanitizer in the entrance alcove, masks required, plastic sheeting between booths, and masks required while not seated.

Quality is dropping bigtime
The first time I ordered from here it was fine. This is now the fourth time I try to order something off of GrubHub I wait a full half-hour before I receive a text that says my order was refunded and cancelled I have the money in my account. Ive wasted my gas so many times to show up and have my order be canceled if its absolutely ridiculous.
Not a bad spot; atmosphere is alright, easy to find seating but front door area is a little cramped. Food is okay (needs a little love!), pricing not bad. Closest diner in the area. Waitstaff was sweet and attentive.
Service was incredible, food was pretty good! Enjoyed my breakfast there.
Great food its not expensive at all, and everybody that goes here should try the hot Jamaican omelet, its to die for.
I have been coming to this place since 2004 its awesome sometimes I even go there three or four times a week. The owner is so welcoming and the staff is great. And the food is wonderful.

Been there a few times and will never go back. I ordered steak and eggs.... steak wasnt fresh...recooked, tough. Eggs werent up to par. Great service though, she didnt charge me for my plate...she was kind and friendly. Its the cook that wasnt that good and got upset when my plate was sent back.
Cook did have no mask and was talking while cooking.
They do pack them in here.Pretty good place, although we sat at the counter as there were so many people we would have to wait for a booth, and it was a little squished for comfort.If you want to meet the locals, this is the place!The food was good and reasonable price.The girls waiting tables were running around like some choreographed dance, each with such purpose, not getting in each others way. It was amazing to watch. Our waitress was so nice and made sure we were content with our meal and refilled my coffee as needed without having to ask.I would say that this is a really great place.
Sunnyside delivers exactly what you want a breakfast diner to be...great food, quick, at great prices. Booths, tables, and counter service where you can watch one of the cooks in action. Friendly, fast service, bottomless cup of coffee. Big menu and great food. Great home fries and loved my BELT on Italian bread. Dont be shy about venturing into Lawrence if youre not from here. This diner has been around since the 20s for a reason.

Hot chocolate was good. Hollandaise was runny and sad. Customers were loud and unpleasant, from a man who was arguing very loudly with his adult daughter, and then decided to glare at me because I accidentally made too much eye contact... to a family that put on a cartoon on for their kid... I was eager to leave. Service seems slightly understaffed and not especially friendly. Eggs were poached nicely.
Too small tabes too close. I sat i down first and they served somone else before me.

Great food, great price, but I dont know what happened to the service. Weve been coming here for years and the service has always been great, except for the last 2 times. We sat at the counter last time and it took over 45 min to get our breakfast. This time it took almost 15 min before a waitress came to take our order. Thats why only 3 stars.

Great family place and the food and staff is always the best. They make you feel like family when your there and not just a customer. My sons love going and always have a wonderful time. Plus you get a lot of food for a great price. Has to be one of our favorite places to go. We now live in salem ma and will still continue to come here because its worth the drive.
Update 11/29/19: This place can only be described as an iconic greasy spoon diner that does not fail to provide outstanding food and a wait staff second to none!Excellent place for grub and the staff was very good!

This spot never fails to impress. They have fantastic dishes for fair rates, there is no waiting time even when they are packed.
I’ve always liked that place. Good food, good waitstaff and good crowd. It’s family owned and they always try to make you feel welcome and special. They have a Mickey Mouse shaped pancake for kids. Great coffee. Fresh juices.The cook is funny and chats with everyone and seems to know everyone that walks in.

I visited the restaurant on Sunday and I really wish I could give it 0 starts. The food was HORRIBLE to say the least. The eggs were burnt, the home fries were burnt and cold, the toast was not wheat (as I requested) and they were cold and burnt, the bacon was burnt. Essentially, the whole plate was burnt.Not only was the food horrible, the server had the I dont care attitude. No manners and didnt even check if the food was okay. I regret leaving a tip as it was not deserved.I will never go to this place again. Ive ate in the past there a few times and it was great but the last visits havent been so great especially this past Sunday.My recommendation for them is to fire whoever the cook is (I believe it was a female cook that day) and give their servers some advise on customer service.
Food may still good, but the service is nonexistent. I miss the old times.

Good pancakes at a great price. Try to go there every Sunday but today was different. Went over there at 12:25 as soon as we walk in a person comes and tell us we cant sit or eat cause the kitchen close 12:30 I mean thats five minutes early plus they were people in there and half of them didnt have there food in front of them. Then we leave quietly about fifteen feet away the guy comes out and start whistling at us to get are attention like if we are dogs I dont know about you but I dont like to be whistle at. We kept walking away. I work at kitchen I know its not easy but if I was a manger I would let people in five minutes before we close and just let them know that kitchen is almost closing give them a limited menu option. Also if somehow a customer walked out cause I told them the kitchen is close it really wasnt then I wouldnt whistle at them Ill run up to them and call them out. But hey those are my opinion if I was a manger. Ill never go ever there never again. Really bad managing skills
