This is a long overdue review (what a year its been =/). My wife and I absolutely love our pieces from Mid Century Mobler, which we got back in February (purchased in December and restored/delivered in February). I agree with another reviewer that these prices are eye-watering, but as newcomers to the world of non-Ikea furniture, Julian and Desiree offered a furniture buying experience (cliche, I know) that I havent seen at any other furniture place I had been to during our search.Julian and Desirees love for furniture is evident in the first seconds of walking into the store and speaking to them. Their store is skillfully crammed floor to ceiling with furniture and they get periodic freight containers of furniture from Europe (check their Instagram). They also live in a recognized midcentury home in Oakland. The amount they know off the cuff about midcentury furniture (and how to restore them) is overwhelming and I needed them to explain every name and every technique I hadnt heard of before. But they are both incredibly patient and understanding. I went to their store 5-6 times to talk with them before deciding on a dining table and credenza (and I even went back for dining chairs) O_O. It was certainly more than I initially went into the store looking for, but Julian and Desiree made us feel comfortable and confident in the purchase. These are by far the most expensive things aside from a car that weve ever purchased, but Im convinced we got a great deal in terms of the quality and value of the pieces. To be honest, we had also looked at other places and online (and even found the identical credenza across the country). But with delivery and restoration totalled up, MCM was only less than a couple hundred dollars more. And I was more than happy to pay a small premium to support an avid local shop in Berkeley and to be able to work with Julian and Desiree through the buying and restoration process.A note on restoration: MCM lists two prices for the furniture, one as-is and one including restoration. I believe the restoration is 100% worth it. Desiree knows her stuff! She was very patient walking us through the restoration (e.g. sanding out surface blemishes, smoothing out drawer movements), the different finish options (e.g. lacquer vs oil), and diligently worked on color matching the pieces (I believe she does parts of the restoration herself). The dining table has two leaves that never saw the sun in its previous life and she worked hard to color match them as much as she could. Honestly its still not perfect and its still a noticeable difference between the table and the leaves, but Im impressed how much closer they got compared to how they initially looked. In the end, the credenza and table match beautifully and the chairs complement perfectly.And a note about delivery: Mac and his crew were on time and careful with carrying the pieces up a flight of outdoor stairs and through a narrow hallway to the dining room. They helped move and align the pieces to the spots we wanted. And they left us a bottle of oil/wax and extra feet padding as to not scratch up our hardwood floors. Overall a seamless operation.Thank you Julian, Desiree, and the rest of the MCM crew for an amazing furniture buying experience. Love our sideboard from Mid Century Mobler. Julian was extremely helpful and patient while we looked at several sideboards. His knowledge of every piece is impressive. The piece we chose was in great condition for its age, but Julian cleaned it up a bit more before delivery and wow, its beautiful. They did such an amazing job, we couldnt be happier.

Beautifully restored mid-20th century furniture, predominantly Danish, in addition to new pieces. The on-site owners are very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable​. Their enthusiasm for their products is infectious. The prices may seem high, but are commensurate with the quality and uniqueness of the items.

Julian and Desiree always have a beautiful collection of furniture at their shop and are extremely knowledgeable about every item that comes into their hands. We have invested in two beautiful pieces that we will treasure for a long time. Every time we shopped there, I never felt pushed or pressured to buy anything or make a quick decision. What a great place to shop! I bought two nightstands from the unrestored section on Mid Century Moblers website and arranged for them to be refinished using a stain compatible with my Herman Miller Thin Edge bed. The restorer MCM sent them to did an absolutely fantastic job - they look amazing. Just as important, Julian and his staff were a joy to deal with; the restoration was completed exactly on time, and the packaging and shipping were excellent. My experience was a 10 out of 10.

Prior to shipping, all joinery was inspected for stability, and i noticed that all drawers were smoothed for proper function, the interior was deep cleaned, and the exterior was waxed...ensuring that this beautifully preserved piece will last many many more decades. i will definitely be back, thank you!

The drop leaf coffee table that I found in Mid Century Moblers show room has turned out to be a good choice. I spend a great many hours sitting at this table because it is my desk. Its polished wood is pleasing, a warm honey color. The wicker shelf below the table top has become a useful place to store my wool blankets.Im glad that besides selling antique furniture, Mid Century also offers the service of cleaning up the piece that one wants to buy. I decided to spend the extra money to have the coffee table refinished. When the table was delivered to my home, I was astonished to see that it had become beautiful. Thanks Mid Century Mobler!

I ordered a G Plan dresser through their eBay store, and I have never had such a pleasant transaction. They answered all questions I had very promptly and were extremely helpful. They included free white glove delivery, which is something not many furniture stores include (at least, in my experience), and the shipping company they chose was also very nice and great! Will definitely purchase all of my furniture from them in the future :)

Incredible selection, impeccable service, fantastic taste. - We bought a vintage danish wall unit for storage and as a media center. Not only was the price reasonable, but this place had several style choices. Even with the huge selection, the owner spent a whole hour with us talking through options and laying out the pieces. And when it was delivered (after a light refinish which was INCLUDED in the price), they even left me a couple furniture blankets as I wasnt planning to install if for a few days and they didnt want it to get dinged. We had a fantastic experience and are in love with what we bought.

Great source for modern- and Danish-inspired furniture. Prices reflect the quality so you need to understand what you’re buying but I find them fair and worth it. We’ve bought a set of chairs, a console, and a tall dresser, all vintage pieces, and very happy with all of them. Delivery was quick and white-glove friendly including installation on 2nd floor. Owners went out of their way to refinish and reupholster where they felt it necessary, even before I could ask, so I’ve learned to trust them sight-unseen. Will definitely shop here again.

Mid Century Mobler offers a fairly unprecedented location to view an enormous amount of real vintage European mid-century furniture. The prices are eye watering but the quality and selection more than makes up for it. I cant think of anywhere else in the bay area where you can view such a huge collection of pristine mid century furniture. Most items are Danish style mid century. Even if you arent in the market or not in the budget to buy here it is definitely worth dropping by to just take a look.

Finding Mid Century Mobler was such a treat. Julian was very helpful in showing us around the showroom. We found the perfect end table and when it was delivered I was thrilled with how beautifully restored it was.

Why is the furniture here so expensive? I get that this stuff is imported, but there is a guy with a warehouse in San Francisco importing and selling the same exact pieces on Craigslist at 1/3 the price. I’m talking $900-$1100 for pieces these guys are charging $3400 for. Talk about price gouging!Pro tip: Come here to look and ask questions. Buy on Craigslist or eBay.
