Wonderful collection! Take the time out of your day to walk through 2 acres of beautifully crafted bonsai trees. Dan the artist was on site when I went and he was great to talk to and had a wealth of knowledge to share. When you go try and find the 2000+ year old tree (hint: its name is Methuselah).
I have lived in Kitsap county almost 40 years and have missed this gem until recently. The entrance to the gardens can be misleading because it looks a little unkempt. But once you enter the gardens proper it’s almost like you’ve entered another world! I have seen bonsai trees before but nothing like Elandan Gardens. The owner gave us a tour and explained much about Bonsai trees and the history of the land, which incidentally was a dump for the shipyard and then transformed into a thing of beauty. Words do no justice, visit this place for yourself.
Absolutely stunning garden stroll. Well worth the $8/person. Owners are delightful and knowledgeable not just about bonsai, but of local plants and trees. Truly a wonderful place with breathtaking views in a surprising location. The shop is free, and even in the deep of winter is strongly recommended
Really loved reading about all the trees, taking pictures, snuggling with the cat and watching all the dragonflies dance around the pond. Get a coffee and stroll around the grounds then check out the shop. The owners are very sweet.
Absolutely fantastic. I spent about as much time inside the greenhouse/shop (filled with fascinating Asian art, goods, jewelry, etc.) as I did in the bonsai garden outside ($8/adult, $1/child). The dogs (Mercy & Sushi) were so cute and friendly! It was fascinating to see the bonsai artist prune one of the trees by the fireside. 1000%recommend! I will be back and plan to take friends when they come to visit.
One of my favorite places to go to satisfy my love of bonsai. So many trees, one of which dates back to 300 BC (I think). Dan, the bonsai artist and founder of the location, is an amazing man with a truly awesome life story. Even if bonsai doesnt really peak your interest, this place is a must-see if youre visiting Bremerton. Right on the water, so good views all around. The store inside also has so much history and a huge variety of objects from various parts of the world!
Beautiful garden, and a great display of bonsai! Wide variety of trees, flowers, and sculptures in a unique setting. Dan and Diana are very welcoming and great hosts!
Each time I travel to Bremerton, I make a point to visit Elandan Gardens. The bonsai are breathtaking and make for a memorable experience. It also helps put your time on Earth into perspective 😊The owner is very sweet and her cat and dog make for a one-of-a-kind shopping experience after your tour. I cant wait to come back!
Such a beautiful place I have passed by it a million and 1 times growing up and finally visited it ! Such an amazing and personalized experience! Even with my little one being stubborn and having a meltdown ! Thank you all !
If I could give this experience 10 stars, I would. Its was worth the $8 admission just for the serenity and peacefulness. Wandering into this garden, was like stepping into an old building in a part of town youve never been to before, and finding a five star restaurant that needs someone to test a new dish, and then getting a cooking lesson from the master chef. It was cultural, educational, spiritual, inspirational, and beautiful. Elandon gardens is truly a gem that all ages can enjoy together. Be sure to give yourself at least an hour if you can. Obviously the garden is outdoors and so if its raining it might be better to go a different day. I really want to come back to see it in each season!
If you like trees and really cool trees, this is the place! For only 6.00, you get to walk the gardens and see some amazing creations. Well worth it! The owners are super nice and love to share the stories. Im looking forward to Spring/ Summer for a completely different experience!
Absolutely beautiful and the kids loved it as well. definitely recommend
Awesome bonesai, way bigger than I expected. Awesome little antique shop too
Beautiful and unique.
You must see in person. Photos cannot capture the beauty
Beautiful experience. The garden in conjunction with the great conversation with the staff tied everything together. Will definitely return.
Fabulous place and people! Highly recommend a visit.
An overwhelming gallery of bonsai specimens, set in an artfully crafted garden landscape. Its almost overwhelming: walking through, its easy to focus on the minute detail and subtle drama of the bonsai, then look up to curated vistas and striking architectural garden features of stone and wood. One of Kitsaps best kept secrets, for sure. Admission is $8. Give yourself at least an hour and a half.
Love this place! We visited last year and were met by two adorable dogs! We had the pleasure of meeting and given a tourof the beautiful garden by the owner! He and his wife are so knowledgeable and very engaging.Although the gift shop was a little pricy, the items are worth buying.
I came here not expecting much. I have to say its one of the coolest places Ive been within 20 miles. With fairly sheep admission you get to see a very large selection of very well-maintained and high quality bonsai trees. Also they have answers to almost any question you have and its a great place to go if youd like to feel like youre at home.
Really a pearl a shop/store that captivated my imagination what a collection!
There are no words to capture what Elandan offers the world. Beautiful bonsai..... And gifts for the most discriminating people in your life. A truly elegant and sophisticated place. Theres a cost to get in to see the trees in the curated part of the garden.... But its worth it.
Amazing place too look at. And children can pet two dogs and one cat.
Being in the area for a short period of time, we wanted to see various parks and such. This sounded like a great place to visit. Checked out their web site and decided to risk going. Its not easy to get to. We had to go past and make a U turn because we were going East/South on Hwy 16 and its inaccessible from that side. Okay, fine. Traffic was horrid but we made it. Figured the garden would be a nice way to relax. Its not readily apparent where to enter. The door to the gift shop is hidden, and even from the small parking lot it wasnt easy to see. Once you find it and go in, its a wonderfully eclectic mix of things. A lot of Japanese-style clothing, bonsai, and various other knick-knacks and kitsch. However, there is an $8/person charge to go into the garden. That wasnt mentioned at all on their website. With all the free parks in the area, I didnt want to spring for admission. Big disappointment. The woman in the gift shop was friendly enough, to be sure. My only complaint is that they dont mention the admission charge for the garden. It was an unpleasant surprise.
Botanist Dan Robinson has been working with and collecting bonsai trees for more than 60 years, but some of his trees have been around for nearly 20 times that long.Robinson has become a go-to expert on bonsai trees; he even developed new methods of caring for and shaping them. He travels, giving lectures and workshops on the trees. His personal collection, at Elandan Gardens in Washington state, features of over 200 bonsai trees arranged among ponds, waterfalls, and rock sculptures. It has become a major draw for horticulture lovers. His trees have been gathered over the course of his life from all kinds of environments, from mountains and marshes to areas ravaged by logging to old nurseries. The ages are determined by counting the rings on clippings of the roots or branches through microscopes.Japanese Maples and giant rhododendrons help fill out the rest of Elandan Gardens, which also has a gallery and a stunning view of the Sinclair Inlet on the Puget Sound.Know Before You GoVisiting in the spring and summer is good for seeing the trees in bloom, but their foliage makes an autumn visit striking as well. One of the most interesting things about bonsai trees is their usually gnarly underlying structure, which is most visible in the winter.
Beautiful, amazing living art. Hidden gem
Let me start by saying this is NOT a garden center, but rather a bonsai museum ($8 feel to view) and some high end eclectic gift store. The store is packed with items picked up from around the world by the owners and seems like more of a personal collection than shop. The staff was friendly and we enjoyed looking at everything, but the prices are ridiculously high. They had some clothing items that looked promising until we realized they had been on the hangers so long they were faded and some were starting to rot. They flatly refused to negotiate on prices. An good place to check out if you are in the area and have an hour or so to kill.
We had a wonderful time in the gardens. The trees were simply amazing. What a learning experience for us too as we had no idea how these were done before. Loved all the elements of the garden!
My husband and I just tried to stop by and visit the museum, we were met at the door by two barking dogs. Unsure how to proceed whether they are friendly or not there was no one around to tell us. Left pretty disappointed. I had heard really nice things. Very pretty outside.
Very nice place to visit. Lots and lots to see ...Prices are firm but that is Ok you know what to expect . I would buy from again, wonderful !
This is a wonderful place! Its just a few mintues from downtown Bremerton, used to be a landfill but has been converted into a truly beautiful Bonsai garden! Its much bigger than you might imagine with a spectacular collection of Bonsai trees, beautiful rock carvings and a collection of Asian art, furniture, collectibles etccc.Dan (the owner/ founder) and his assistant, Ron, should be casted for Modelo commercials as they really are two of the most interesting people in the world!Definitely worth a visit if youre in the area!
Amazing place! Plan to spend some time here relaxing and finding your balance. The garden is a true gem, hidden away in plain sight.
Peaceful gardens. Dan Robinson, the bonsai master, is always eager to share his knowledge and give advice.
Great bonsai garden by the sea. Some trees are 1000 years old. Beautiful view. Relaxing, peaceful, meditative place.
Cool place. Love the garden tour.
We just had a 50 year old, beautiful, Japanese maple chopped down. It was perfectly healthy until it was pruned by the person from Elandan Gardens a few years ago. It has gotten sicker each year. Several botanists have told us they believe this was the cause of its death. The gardens may be beautiful but we strongly urge you not to hire them to care for your tree.In response to the owners statement that no services were provided to me, services were provided to our family, probably noted under my spouse Charles Meades name. The review stands.
I have no words to say how great and unique it was to see the garden and talk to its creator and supporters. It is must stop and spend some amazing time.
The garden is beautiful. Worth going on the weekend when Dan the owner is there. He will talk to you about everything.
A beautiful place to spend an afternoon! The Bonsai collection is wonderful and lovingly curated
This is an amazing place to visit, the have a garden to die for that only cost 8 bucks to get into
5 Stars arent enough! The bonsai collection and the history of the location makes this a must see place for any plant lover! The admission is a steal at $8 for adults and $1 for children.
This was a cool place. The bonsai were very interesting, and the staff were friendly and enjoyed sharing their knowledge.
Hidden gem. Gorgeous setting with some incredible bonsai. Highly recommend a visit if youre in the area.
Awesome! With my mom and dad on this beautiful, sunny day!
One of the best Bonsai exhibits in the country. You must visit if you are in the area.
Lovely. Really enjoyed reading the history of the bonsai.
Beautiful garden! The store is filled with rare and awesome treasures!
Great stop along the kitsap peninsula if you like bonsai trees, the property is set up nicely as you drive in
Fun shopping, $8 admin charge for admission to Bonsi Garden.
Amazingly unique items!! The garden is very relaxing and peaceful.

What a lovely place to spend an afternoon. I could not recommend more highly.

Great garden with interesting shop. More bonsai to see than you can shake a stick at.
Friendly service and interesting plants and cute cats and dogs to pet
Beautiful garden and museum. Helpful and friendly staff
Amazing must see, megaliths, Bonsai, extraordinary home/garden ideas, and GIFTS can be purchased too. Only thing missing is PIE!
Nice little shop with a large bonsai garden with really nice landscaping. It isnt something that Id expect to find in Gorst, but it is a fun place to visit.
I didnt visit the gardens because they charge too much for such a small area ($8 per person). Further complaint is they dont list their prices on the website.
Its more then trees its its art. Friendly staff some of the best bonsais I have seem in a while.
They cant even answer their phone!! Ive been trying to reach them 5 times today!
Great landscape with bonsai designed by the owner on display.
Amazing, vast bonsai garden. Must see.
Not what i was looking for in a botanical garden. Nice folks but the place seemed incomplete.
Beautiful garden, great for taking pictures.
Gorgeous store I fell in love with every single decorative at aspect of it the day we arrived it was pouring down rain so we didnt get to go see the gardens that we are planning a visit real soon to see them
