If you need a bike...Bluestem Bicyles is the shop to go to!! They worked with me to find just the right bike to take my biking to a higher level. They know their stuff! They treat you like family, not just some money walking in their doors!! Highly recommend them!!!

I like this place. The owner was friendly, the bike parts such as handlebar tape were reasonably priced (10 dollars versus 45 dollars at other place... not paying 45-50 dollars for handlebar tape) and I found a great made in Germany air pump for sale there. I know not much of a pitch right? Im a cheapskate that likes to maintain his own bike so its hard for me to give business to local bike shops, but I like to help where I can. This guy will get my parts business in the future.

Caleb is a great guy to work with. Knows so much about bikes and the sport of biking. Will be going to him for many years to come.

They have built a couple sets of wheels for me. Alway great to deal with. Alway been able to get what I need for a project.

I originally took my carbon frame to Bluestem as I was wigging out about a frame fracture. Caleb examined the bike, explained his assessment and let me ask questions. It was obvious he loves bikes and he knows a lot about bikes. I was very comfortable with his assessment and overjoyed to find a true bike specialist. I was so pleased I asked Caleb to rebuild my bike from the carbon frame up with all new Shimano Ultegra parts. This is THE bike shop you want.

My husband is a bike guy, so we stop at Bluestem whenever we’re in town! He always finds something he needs for his latest bike project, and he loves talking bikes with the staff. I got an amazing vintage Schwinn there a few years ago that I love!!

We purchased a new womans bike this weekend from Bluestem. They were the only place that had one available in Brookings for under $500. We were camping in the area and they were able to accommodate us in getting it assembled before we left the area. Our daughter really likes the bike. Staff was helpful and friendly. We would recommend this bike shop and we will be using them for our bike repairs & maintenance.

In the process of hunting down the perfect stem for a bicycle I was building I came across Bluestem Bicycles and their online inventory. Not only did they have a vintage new-old stock stem that fit the bill, but they were able to sell it for a very reasonable price and ship it to me very quickly. Incredibly helpful staff! I bought several gifts for bike loving family members at Bluestem. They have tons of fun accessories like different shaped bike bells. I bought a tea kettle shaped bell for my bike and they even put it on for me! They really care about their customers which makes going in there fun and easy. No matter if I need a repair, a new bike, or just a fun water bottle, they are there to help! Thanks Bluestem!

Daughter’s bike was damaged in a bike on bike accident on campus this week. We stopped in on a Saturday afternoon and they were able to quickly diagnose what all needed to be fixed. And they were able to squeeze in the repair as we were just traveling thru town to help our daughter after her accident. They got the repairs done quickly and made sure the whole bike was looked over and safe. And when we picked up the bike a little later they even gave us an SDSU discount. Very pleasant experience and they did a wonderful job. Would highly recommend for your bike needs.

Always friendly, help not only fix my bike but answer questions and care about my ability to take care of it myself. Care about re-use and recycling and you are far more than a credit card with legs in this shop.

While I do not bike much, I know the owners well. They definitely care about the community and their customers! Bluestem is the first place I would look for a new bike or accessories.

They had what we needed but were very unhelpful and borderline rude. Will not shop there again.

Finally, a great LBS! We only had one shop in town until these guys opened up, and it was like a breath of fresh air. This shop reminds me of the places we had back in Austin, TX. The guys working there ride single speeds and fixed gear as well, so if thats your thing, they know what you are talking about. I just picked up a new chainring from them for just a shade over internet price, but Im happy to drive business their way. The mechanics are friendly, and the bikes are not too crazy expensive. From now on, Ill be sending people over to Bluestem for bike needs, and telling them to stay away from the other shop. All in all, friendly staff, good prices, and no elite attitude. This shop is a winner, and I hope they stick around.

Husband and son took bike here to be redone months ago.List of excuses ranging from “it’s been too humid to paint” to “we’re just slammed”.We are one of the customers “slamming” you with our business.Wishing we would’ve looked elsewhere as bike still not done.
