I met some girlfriends for lunch. Ordered a latte an ice tea and a BLT. They gave me a number to place on my table. People that ordered after me got their food before me. I had to inquire twice as to where my food was. When it finally arrived, the bacon on my BLT wasn’t done and it was very fatty. When I alerted the staff, they told me they had only one cook there that day and that they were very busy. They made no attempt to make it right! Later that day, I contacted the manager and told her about the experience that I had. She offered to follow up with me at a later date and she also wanted my address, which I gave her. She promised a gift card so I could come back instead of leaving a poor review. Now it has been almost 3 weeks, I have never received a call back or a gift card from the manager. This used to be my favorite place to go for coffee or lunch, but unfortunately they are struggling with service and food quality ☹️
Lipstick on my ice tea glass, the tall dark hair hostess acted like she was doing me a favor replacing my drink... very rude to say the least when she deposited the disposable cup back on my table. I hoped she refilled it rather than dumping the contents, but I didnt drink it bc she took it in the back to do it when the drink station was in front. Cold chunks of potatoes, dried out sausage, eggs wrong (wanted fried hard, got scrambled). Not impressed, over $40 for breakfast for 3 people so not cheap either! Ill hit the McDonalds for breakfast or make another choice next time...
Love love love visiting Cottonwood!!! All the food is delightful, the coffee is straight fire, and the staff is helpful! Highly recommend visiting!
Had breakfast here everyday while visiting an old skydiving buddy. Great service, good food! Highly recommended.
Lived our Sunday brunch! The French toast and fresh fruit were awesome!
This is a charming coffee shop with a wide selection of brunch and lunch options. It is worth the stop.
One of the best places for coffee and good food.
It was very busy. Waitstaff was friendly and apologized for our wait. Food was good.
Gone here and spent money multiple times, I always tip and I’m polite and every time I’ve had rude service. Makes me think most the reviews on here are fake. Libby was a standout on rudeness. Done buying anything from here again
Their blended smoothie(mango flavor), that I had was simply perfect and really delicious. Would recommend their smoothie🙏🏾
Yummy and quaint. Such a lovely day stop, and the food was super great!
Mediocre food and coffee. Slow service.
Crispy apple wood bacon was awesome! Best latte weve had in Brookings.
Very good food at a fair price
Good food and friendly service 👌
I really like the small-town feel Cottonwood has. The staff is easy to have a conversation with and its also a great place to go to be alone and study.Im more and more impressed each time I come here with the quality of coffee they serve. They definitely put work into their craft, and it shows. Their light roast brews are especially delicious and they make really good lattes as well. The food is pretty good too. Definitely fresh ingredients and a reasonable variety.
A great place for a romantic dinner, business lunch or to celebrate a revered occasion.
This place should be more popular than it is.
Great Food but quality is not consistent! I still enjoy meeting friends for conversation and fantastic coffee.
Cozy even during Covid. Friendly staff that hooked me up with the deliciousness.
Food is fine. Nothing bad but also not ground-breaking. Prices are ridiculous though. You want cream cheese on that bagel? Better be willing to pay an extra dollar! Service is friendly, but slow.
Always amazing coffee and service
I used to grab a coffee here once or twice a week but hadnt been in lately. After a couple months of only sugary lattes while grabbing groceries and brewing my own national brands at home, my first Cottonwood sip this evening reminded me how great it is. Even with maple spice syrup and milk, their espresso has a depth of flavor that I didnt realize Id been missing. Thanks, Cottonwood. See you again soon!
Really good food and coffee, okay prices. But I feel the prices reflect the food quality. Their dining area can be cold in the winter, as they have large single pane windows that allow for a lot of natural light, and doors without a heat saving front area. One of my favorite places to study and enjoy time with friends.
Great! They were amazing about getting my drink out on time. It is so chill and nice in the Cottonwood Bistro. I highly advise going there it is always tasty, and the smoothies are amazing. It is such a great place to come with your family after church or anytime. If you just want to come with a friend thats great to.
Amazing service, amazing staff.
The food was amazing! They atmosphere was great and the food quality was great for the price. I will definitely be going back for breakfast! Might have to try a lunch or a supper!
Super yummy! Pleasant staff and inviting atmosphere! I love doing homework here or catching up with friends.
Love this coffee house. Good coffee and a great breakfast sandwich and pancakes.
Great Coffee! Great breakfast and cool atmosphere! We really enjoyed relaxing and waking up to a good breakfast and great coffee. Well be back!
Wonderful little place for lunch or breakfast. Great quiche.
I enjoyed a nice cappuccino. The staff was nice and cleaned our table off for us. Great spot to hang out! Not a particularly amazing ambiance. They had two different radio stations playing, which was weird.
My wife and I noticed that people who ordered after we did were getting their food/drinks before us. By the time we got our food, it had been 40 minutes. I talked with the owner, Jacob, to let him know what had happened and he was very apologetic. I definitely appreciated that, and the food was fantastic. Those 2 things are why we will come back!
Good drinks at reasonable prices. Looks like they have free wifi for those remote work days.
I went this past weekend and while the register service was great nothing else was. For $8.50 I expected more on my plate, I left feeling hungry and robbed. The food and drinks are over priced. Also, upon realizing the table was missing a coffee we asked for it. In return, we got attitude and the wrong drink. The overall experience was less than pleasing.
Attended a small event here. Delicious and huge chocolate chip cookies! Didnt get to have a coffee hope to go back.Decent little coffee so it seemed like.
This is a nice place to go get a coffee and breakfast their chocolate chip pancakes are a full plate and very good
Excellent food and coffee! The atmosphere is super chill and its fantastic that they show local art. My only critique is that the service is hit-or-miss. Someday I get fantastic service and the friendliest of folks and other days the servers are very distracted and forgetful. Overall I love this place and do recommend it.
Great place for breakfast! Not cheap but still reasonable for good quality, non chain restaurant food. Nice upscale, cafe atmosphere with real art on the walls.
I enjoy the main street location of this coffee shop. It’s warm and inviting, there is comfortable seating options, the baked oatmeal is delicious, and the baristas are very friendly. I highly recommend Cottonwood in Brookings, Sd.
Great coffee, scones and pb&j sandwiches.
Awesome place! Some of the best coffee I have ever tasted. Relaxing atmosphere with space for small groups. Jacob, the owner, is very friendly and will make sure your visit it great.A definite stop for you coffee-lovers!!!
Always good food for my part. Baked oatmeal but could have a bit more milk on it. A friend had the Cuban ham and it was not good. First time ever she said. Not sure why. Service is always good and friendly. Will be back.
Love stopping here for a quick sandwich or even breakfast. Very relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff. Highly recommend for small groups too.
Quality casual food. They make a lot of their items from scratch (granola, pastries, baked oatmeal) and really focus on getting it perfect. Compared to the downtown location, this Cottonwood seems to focus a bit more on brunch-y foods than drinks (not to say that they dont have great drinks, too). Excellent place for a light meal any time of the day.
Great coffee place! I love coming here to study or simply to read! The coffee is delicious and they have a wide variety of drinks and snacks!
The customer service in this establishment is completely sub par. Order a menu item that was delineated to have only one or two things on the item and upon ordering asked to with hold one of the items unaware that it contained other items not stated on the menu. My suggestion would be if you are going to delineate on the menu delineate all items or no items. And work on your customer service. I was told I would be charged again full price to correct the item.
Always great food and coffee. Best breakfast burrito.
Homemade imaginative light fare perfect for breakfast, lunch or a light snack. Excellent, caring staff.
Ordered an apple turnover and got blueberry instead even after she confirmed I asked for apple. In the very same visit I got a turkey melt when I actually ordered a tuna melt. And I know that I didn’t accidentally say turkey because the tuna melt is the ONLY sandwich I ever order there. Still giving 3 stars since the food is quite good and they don’t skimp on the fillings in their melts.
So good! The food and service was wonderful. The chai is some of the best Ive had! My husband and I both loved our meals.
Too pricey for what it is. Nice atmosphere but you can do better.
Loved this place. The atmosphere was great and the did was awesome! Will cine back again.
Best coffee in town! I love the food and atmosphere. The wall art is always on point. I can tell they support the community, so I always support them when Im in Brookings
Their hot tea is awesome.
Great coffee! And food.
Random Justin Bieber cut out and great white mocha. I recommend it.
Good coffee good food but Ive never felt so unwelcome in a place. The staff is always rude and could care less if youre being helped or not. Super disappointing, will not be returning and will not recommend to others. Dont want others to feel the way I have every time Ive been there.
Cute coffee place. Went there to prep for a mtg
Coffee leaves a lot to be desired, but food is great! Best breakfast in town.
We have breakfast here and its one of the best breakfast Ive had at a restaurant. Great quality food and coffee.
Super good food, coffee, and friendly staff
Food is always delicious! Cashiers & wait staff always friendly! Thanks!
First problem, the guy taking our order had no business dealing with the public, bordering on rude. 45 minutes later when people were being served who came in much later than us my daughter questioned the order and was given attitude. Finally asked for our money back and left.
Ate lunch here with a friend and had a pleasent experience. The atmosphere was small (but not tight or closed in), clean, quiet, and had nice natural light. The salad I got with my bean burger (instead of fries or chips for NO extra cost) was excellent. It was a lettuce mix, tomatoes, and onions, & wasnt just plain iceberg lettuce with dressing. I would recommend the veggie wrap my friend had if you are looking for a good vegetarian option... It had great flavor and had black beans and quinoa (?some grain).
Nice pleasant environment and great coffee
Very nice employees. Good food! Will return!
I had visited this place a couple times to do meetings at, most of the time after my clients have confused it with Cottonwood Coffee shop on main street. Out of nowhere, I get told that I have to leave. The man I spoke with said its because I have been in 3 times and havent bought anything. I gladly said I would buy something and he said no, you have to get out of here. I went up to the counter and asked for the managers business card and he said that he was the owner and then I asked if I could leave a review and he said go ahead. I went back to my table, was leaving a review and he said Go do it on someone elses WiFi, even though I was already on my phones hot spot. Not sure if this guy was having a bad day or what was going on but being from the Brookings area, this was just beyond rude. Most coffee shops allow you to come in and do your work at them, Starbucks, Caribou, etc without having to pay anything.Note: I was GLADLY willing to order something off the menu.
Good food, nice place

Been waiting on a salad for 20 minutes now. Plus my lemonade was 2.75 and came 80% full. No refills.
My go-to place for coffee and occasional breakfast. Great pancake and breakfast sandwich.
Fresh food, great atmosphere, and the coffee is excellent.
Generous portions. At $15 more than Perkins but better food.
Nice coffee shop with just enough food options.
Best cup of coffee Ive had in 10 years. Food is high quality.
Good coffee but the food is overpriced for the quality, its not the best food. The space is really nice for hanging out or studying though.
Good food and nice atmisphere
Great food, friendly service.
Food was good and coffee was great.
Breakfast was delicious.
Great coffee and a great selection of food. Also a very nice place to meet up with some friends or to study for class.
Good food. Not a coffee drinker so I cant say anything about that.
Good breakfast options, yummy chai tea
Best Dirty Chai Ive ever had.Food at the bistro is surprisingly good. It seems a lot of people forget they serve food. Try the muffuletta.
This is a great place, wonderful owners and great service!
Over half the tables were left uncleared with dirty dishes for over 45 minutes. Extremely slow service. Ten minutes to get a cup of drop coffee. Food orders came out one at a time. New customers coming in with no place to sit unless they bus the dirty dishes themselves to another cluttered table.
Open space, always comfortably filled with people working and socializing. Love the coffee, friendly service.
Best spot in Brookings for locally sourced food and handcrafted coffee and espresso drinks. Meet the local creatives and interesting people here!
What a good surprise. Will come here again when were in the area.
The best quality food in Brookings!
Called in an order for pickup (for 11:45) at 1030. Ordered 3 meals, all of which were wrong. My tuna melt had chips instead of fried. The turkey panini had fruit instead of chips. The crab cake burger was not ready because the cakes were not prepared. This was not relayed until I picked the order up. The Batista offered to replace it with a different item and it would be free. She charged me for half price of the replacement meal (with fries). Was charged for fries in tuna melt and had not received them for both the tuna melt and replacement meal. Left at 11:53. Very poor first experience for our office. A gentleman from the kitchen had taken my order on the phone, not the Batista. I would blame the kitchen.
A nice place to catch up with a friend
Delicious food, great service!
Waited nearly an hour for a breakfast sandwich. Never again.
Great coffee, best sandwiches in town. Good atmosphere.
Great staff, very open atmosphere.
