This was a great experience! They took the time to help pick out the right guitar for my husband, giving him different options catered to what he was looking for but were within our price range. Dave (the owner) and Other Dave were super knowledgeable and patient with us as well. Not the first time we go, nor will it be the last. The stores well stocked and looks great!Really happy you guys survived the pandemic!
Monkton Guitars is a great music shop where you can actually walk in, pick up and play a guitar or bass and play it before buying. The last of the small music shops of old where the owner knows his gear, knows music, and provides expert advice and recommendations. Great customer service and surprisingly good selection of guitars, basses, pedals and amps and ukuleles. Great customer service, and honest people. Highly recommended!!
Monkton Guitars is a beautiful shop that always has interesting guitars and gear in stock. Lots of amps and pedals too. You can browse and play and Dave encourages you to try different instruments. We bought a vintage 70s telecaster and Julian made adjustments on the spot. Its a really great experience there and everyone is friendly and loves music. Dave always lets me play any cool new bass he has in so thats a bonus! Thanks Dave!
I found Monkton by chance. I was in the market for a DSL40CR and searched Marshalls website for authorized dealers and stumbled upon their name. I browsed their website and saw they had what I wanted in stock so I went for a visit. I was immediately greeted at the door by David and he assisted me from start to finish ensuring I was getting exactly what I needed. They have a cool collection of guitars and amps. I strongly recommend paying them a visit. They made me feel as if I had been shopping there for years. Good people!
I needed new guitar strings and a dealer search on the string manufacturers website came up with Monkton, which I didnt know about. Glad I found them, and they had the strings I wanted. This is a great store. They have a nice selection of electrics, which dont interest me, and a nice selection of acoustics, which do interest me. In addition to a good range of name brands, they have lots of guitars from local builders which Ive never seen anywhere else. Really cool!Another plus, they work with a local jewelry maker that makes bracelets out of used guitar strings so you can recycle your strings through them and they go to a good use.Overall a wonderful store.
I needed an acoustic repaired that would have ran me at least $150 at most of the guitar stores I got quotes from. They did it for $50 and did an amazing job. Great selection of guitars and friendly atmosphere as as well
Understanding that the community of guitar people out there are always very accommodating and open to help others I must admit that this shop went over and above ....just one of the more enjoyable purchasing experiences Ive had in quite some time... Thank you
Dave runs Monkton Guitars, and I was extremely impressed with the service I received. He has a can do attitude, and is happy to give advice and the benefit of his long experience. Its refreshing to deal with someone who is passionate about what they do!My instrument arrived safely in the UK, and was exactly as described, so I couldnt be happier. Definitely worth checking out if you are looking for either a new or vintage instrument - and you can buy with confidence, even if you are not able to visit the store in-person.Highly recommended!
Absolutely fantastic experience. These guys are so knowledgeable and helpful, incredible selection of gear, and made sure we left happy and satisfied. They helped us with a repair as well as a trade in and both worked out extremely well. We will always be going back to Monkton for our guitar needs!
I found Monkton while searching for a Nash Telecaster locally. I emailed the shop to let them know what I was after. The owner was kind enough to email me photos of the guitar before I drove out the next day. I picked it up, strummed it twice, and knew I was taking it home. Easy. The shop is clean, organized, and fully stocked with guitars of all levels and prices. The staff was polite and helpful and made sure I had a quick and easy experience shopping with them. While it’s a little further out than I’d normally like to go, I’ll definitely be coming up with reasons to drive to Broomfield to shop with them. Thanks again for the killer deal! I’ll be back soon!
The service was amazing. I finally saved up enough money to buy my own acoustic electric guitar, and they sat down with me for hours helping choose the perfect fit. Dave the owner and all the workers were so nice and I wouldn’t have made any other decision. Customer for life ❤️💖
A bit tough to find, but its a wonderful shop. Owner is very knowledgeable, kind and friendly. I already had a carbon fiber Klos tenor ukulele and asked them to put on flurocarbon strings for me. I saw a very wide range of ukuleles and guitars, including carbon fiber guitars which looked amazing. Highly recommend this shop not just for instruments but also for re-stringing etc.
I purchased a brand new Eastman Guitar at Monkton. My shopping experience was delightful. Dave knows his stuff and his inventory. He guided me through a number of options, the play room was perfect and there was no pressure. I will buy more things from Monkton.
Fixed my PRS SE tuning issues in less than an hour of time worked! This place charged me considerably less than the other local stores would have, but most importantly, they did a FANTASTIC job. Monkton guitars has won me over as a customer. Support your local small business, choose Monkton!
Very friendly and knowledgeable. Worked with me on my needs and came up with a solution for rocking!
Very friendly and informative when I called in to ask about pricing and brands.
I purchased an Isle of Skye guitar from Dave at Monkton and I could not be happier.. Dave is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. He will help you find what is best for you even if he cant sell it to you. I would recommend Monkton to anybody.
Monkton is awesome! David is exceptional and the communication was second to none. Great store, great products, great people. A++
After some questions about the store schedule I was finally able to visit this store and boy was it worth it. Really cool guitar selection, very welcoming environment (owner was not there but Im definitely looking forward to meeting), we jammed out for a while and I walked out with a new Epiphone acoustic guitar. Probably one of the best experiences Ive had in a guitar store. Will definitely return!Update: Two years later and I was able to meet the owner, Dave. The atmosphere is still as welcoming as I remembered and everyone goes out of their way so you can walk out with the right guitar for you. Other Dave helped me out with my selection and I couldnt be happier. Monkton Guitars is the best!
Best guitar shop around! Dave really knows his business. They did a greatjob setting up my bass at a very reasonable price. I highly recommendMonkton Guitars!
Monkton Guitars is the go-to guitar shop in Broomfield. Its a small, comfortable store with lots of eye candy. Dave, the owner, is a knowledgeable, laid back resource. The selection of guitars and equipment is very good and Dave offers solid information. The shop has new and used equipment and well priced. He has a few jems in the vintage area and he is constantly sourcing new/used gear. They offer reasonably priced lessons for a variety of skill levels. The shop has comfortable rooms for lessons and to really check out your potential new purchase. This is a great shop.
Do not take your guitars here for repair! simple jobs will end up being 2 hours in labor charges. they will take your working guitar and send you home with a non-working guitar. they will mix up the wiring on the pots. they will give you pots too large so your knobs have a huge gap underneath. unbelievably unprofessional and incapable.EDIT: The business response is not a fair respresentation. First guitar, volume pots wired backwards. Second guitar, repair only lasted the car ride home. Second fix only lasted the next car ride home. Third fix, incorrect tone mapping and too large of pots. Every single trip a problem. Why would I go back?
I bought a ukulele from them and I will be back. I love that they are locally owned and that the owner is incredibly knowledgable. Their products are quality and diverse for everyone from affordable beginners to precious collectors.
Monkton Guitars recently did a bit of work on a couple of my guitars. Their tech did an excellent job for a great price, and the owner was super knowledgeable and friendly. I have visited several guitar shops in Broomfield/Denver over the years and think I have a new favorite. Thanks Dave! Ill definitely be back.
Super friendly and knowledgeable staff. They did a great job at setting up my guitar, replacing parts and giving me some tips. The fact that they charge really reasonable prices is great too!
This shop is great!! Went in to get a small repair...diagnosed and fixed on the spot. Owner and staff were super nice, patient, and knowledgeable. Ended up purchasing a classical guitar and planning on classical lessons. They offer lessons on all styles as well. They’re my new go-to music shop. Thanks guys!!
Just recently found Dave at Monkton Guitars. This place is a great shop. Really nice space with an acoustic room, electric room, amp room and vintage guitar room. Dave the owner is extremely knowledgeable, patient, and you can tell this is a labor of love for him. I am very impressed and proud to support this local business!
Great place whether it’s your first guitar or you’re a long time pro. I’ve known the owner for over 20 years and he is passionate about guitars but more importantly a quality guy. You will get honest advice and the best deal here. Full price range of acoustic and electric guitars, ukuleles and amps, and excellent rooms for lessons. Fantastic shop!
Awesome shop, did a killer job fixing up my guitar
Dave is a really awesome guy who’s willing to work with people to get them playing the guitar(s) of their dreams. I always feel welcome and able to relax in Monkton, and my every question will get an answer. It’s the only guitar store I ever go to anymore because my every need can be taken care of. Shop local, shop Monkton!
I took my acoustic guitar in, which was passed down and means the world to me, to be cleaned and restrung. Dave was knowledgable, friendly, and handed it back within a couple days in great condition. He did a great job, and the price he charged was more than fair. I didnt look around very much while I was inside, but from what I could see there is a good selection of quality electric and acoustic guitars. I highly recommend this place, and would give this shop 6 stars without hesitation if I could. Huge thanks to Dave for taking such good care of something I care so much about.
Got a used guitar and it needed a cleaning and intonation, Monkton Guitars was able to help me out and with a fast turnaround. Will definitely be going to them again for the next service I need.
Beautiful store, beautiful location and some of the most knowledgeable, nicest people you will meet. Dave and Dave were in the store both times I visited. Dave, the owner, was so gracious with my son and myself, showing us around the store, the workshop, and talking about all the vintage guitars. In the end I picked up a few and experimented with some amps, smiled and walked out. Never any pressure to buy, although I did eventually ;-) Dave really takes his Music is personal motto to heart. I am extremely excited to see a business like this pop up in my community, so ready and willing to be a part of it.
Great shop with exceptional, personal service!Much better experience than shopping at Guitar Center!
What an awesome guitar shop! I’d been following Monkton Guitars since the days when it was just a website, so when I learned that it was now a physical shop, I was super excited to see the stock in person. Monkton’s website had always had a great selection of used and vintage player guitars at player prices, which would get me drooling, but I need to play a guitar before I decide if it’s coming home with me.Anyway, from the unassuming exterior in Bloomfield, I would have never expected what an amazing selection of instruments they have. The owner took us on a tour of the shop, and I was like a kid in a candy shop. I especially dug the vintage PRS that they had in stock, but they also had a bunch of vintage and used Fenders, Gretsch, and Gibsons. The prices were all reasonable. They also had a nice selection of affordable PRS SE, Epiphones, etc. Oh, and pretty solid collection of used and vintage basses. And don’t even get me started on the amps - vintage and boutique amps spilling out of everywhere. Basically, a great selection. Lots of cool stuff. My one disappointment was that, while they have an acoustic room, they did not have a great selection of vintage acoustics. They did have a nice selection of a variety of new/used acoustics, but nothing that really got my vintage itch going. However, in light of the shop’s clear focus on electric instruments, and the fact that most normal people would love the selection in the acoustic room (I’ve got a problem; just ask my wife), I think this really isn’t a huge negative. Also, there are a bunch of great shops in the area that have vintage acoustics, but, until now, we really didn’t have an amazing vintage electric shop. So, yeah, while I was a bit disappointed, this really isn’t a song against them.To sum up - this is an amazing guitar shop; I could easily have spent hours there, drooling over their amazing stock, and talking guitars with the owner, who was super nice and generous with his time (and not pushy or condescending like you sometimes encounter at shops). The dude clearly knows and loves guitars, and made some great recommendations on guitars I should try, based on what I’d told him I’d liked. I can’t wait to go back and spend some more time there - if you go, make sure to give yourself plenty of time to peruse the stock! I made the mistake of not allotting enough time on my first visit; that is a mistake I will not be making again.
Come see the best local guitar and music store for yourself! Great selection of instruments and amps with some choice vintage pieces and great teachers if you are looking for lessons. Come remember why hanging out and shopping at a local music store beats the internet shopping experience anytime!
I just had my guitar set up and intonated here. They did a great job on it. I would definitely recommend them for repairs. They even knocked a bit off the quoted price since the job didnt take as long a they had originally thought. Awesome customer service. I will be coming back here for my guitar related needs in the future for sure.
Monkton Guitars is a really cool guitar shop. I had some setup work here for 2 guitars and could not be happier with the work. They also have a nice selection of Guitars and the owner is super knowledgeable and easy to talk to. Monkton Guitars is a welcome addition to Broomfield.
Awesome, best shop for new and experienced students ....David has a host of guitars for sales and an teachers for new students
Just a great local store. Dave does his thing really well. Great selection of new and vintage guitars and amps.
Very nice shop.Good selectionGreat vintage guitars and ampsGood teachers for lessonsDave has been around a long time and knows what hes doing.Cant wait till he has a full lutherie for repairs.
Great gear and space, and even better owner. Very knowledgeable and helpful. Cant wait to come back to get my son his first guitar to learn on. And maybe something vintage for myself...
Monkton is an amazing place! the selection is good with plenty of amazing choices for all types of players.
Awesome little store with a great selection of new and used gear. Dave Monkton is super chill. Laid back and very knowledgeable, hes awesome to talk to.Ive had two guitars set up by his luthier. Both were awesome. One was a variax standard and he really went all out. It needed a lot of work, but we wouldnt let me pay him extra. Insisted on the standard setup fee. My G&L plays like a dream now. Very reasonable rates and convenient to drop off and pick up.Its fantastic to have something close and for a guitarist its so much better than the chain in Arvada (which will remain nameless). Everyone needs to stop by and give him some love.
Ive been a friend and business colleague of Daves for a decade. His dream has been to create a music store that shows his passion for great music and those who create it. This is especially true of guitars and guitar players. He has now created that store in Broomfield. His caring customer service skills, his knowledge of his inventory, and his passion to deliver a wonderful experience can be found in Monkton Guitars.I purchased ukes for my granddaughters and had repair work done on a pineapple uke. Dave and his staff did a fabulous job.If youre looking for assistance with any questions about instruments, need fair pricing on selling an older instrument, or just want to hear the backstory on some of your favorite contemporary musicians, drop by Monkton and meet Dave.
Dave got my Taylor playing like a dream for a song!
Great store, good selection and the owner is a super cool dude.
Definitely recommend.
