I got the sweet corn and jam flavored ice cream. There was about a 15 minute wait to just get in the door so my expectations were high. The shop is super cute and bright and the staff is friendly. I enjoyed the ice cream, but I’ve had better. The jam to ice cream ratio was a little high or maybe it could have been mixed in better. At one point I got a giant blob of jam and I wasn’t into it. The waffle cone was yummy.
I had ordered (sweet corn and blueberry jam + s’mores) and (honey lavender + coffee). All flavors are good.coffee is my favorite 😍.But I wanted to try tiramisu taco as read so many reviews but it is available only on Tuesdays as the name Tuesday Taco.So if someone like me want to try taco just FYI visit on Tuesday.Overall place is great and smell amazing.
Some of the best ice cream we ever had! I went with a group of friends, and as the vegan of the group, I was able to have multiple choices of flavors! I tried the horchata ice cream and it was amazing! The servers were friendly and very accommodating. Would definitely come back next time I’m in Boston!
Went with my girlfriend and got a scoop of blackberry and sweet corn and a scoop of s’mores. She got the salted caramel and mocha hazelnut with honeycomb and waffle pieces. Very good with lots of allergen free/vegan options that are hard to come by. Wasn’t wowed by my flavors but will definitely be in to try out something else.
Ice cream so good, makes me tear up. Absolutely distraught that I’m moving away and can no longer come here.
Good service. Be sure to order before online. You then go stand in the line outside the store and when you’re in the front, you call them to let them know. They bring out your order. Really appreciated their process. Then there’s the ice cream. I ended up getting the peanut butter brownie, and honeycomb toffee I believe. Both were so fresh and delicious. Loved it. (Sorry forgot to take a photo)
The cones are AMAZING. Buttery and crispy. So delightful. We got malted vanilla, browned butter oatmeal cookie, apple cider donut, and smores ice creams. We liked all of them, but the BBOC and apple cider donuts are exceptional.
The ice cream is really good, but the waffles are too thin and the ice cream melts too quickly (especially considering there is no seating inside or outside nearby). Within a 2 minute walk to find somewhere to sit, the rapidly melting ice cream had dissolved the waffle and made a giant mess.
If you are interested in chocolate and coffee flavor ice creams, here is your go place in Cambridge.
Ice cream was good! Got the coffee cake and the coconut zucchini flavors. Overall the caramel flavoring is very heavy
Delicious and unique flavors of ice creams and toppings. Their Honey comb crackle is amazing. Their custom made to order ice cream cakes are amazing.
Wanting to try a new flavor of Ice cream? This place was pretty interesting to try. I would definitely come back.
Among the top 3 ice cream shops I’ve tried in the U.S. (and I’ve tried a good number of them!). Unique flavors done well, high-quality local ingredients, generous scoop sizes.
I first tried their vanilla port cherry at a farmers market a couple of years ago - before they’d opened their own store - and it blew my mind. I’ve had almost all of their flavors, I’ve ordered cakes for birthdays, during lockdown I had so many ice cream tacos delivered because they are perfect. The owner is a genius. The flavors are so rich but not overwhelming or cloying. Everything tastes *real* - like the ingredients used, not some fake approximation. The late summer flavors with fruit jams mixed in are fantastic. The ice cream tacos are always some amazing combination of different tastes and textures. Honestly, Honeycomb has ruined me for all other ice cream.
Lots of flavors. Fun place. Ice cream tends toward the sweet, almost too sweet side.
This is actually one of the few places that I didn’t mind getting ice cream from. I love the different types of cones they had & as well as the ice cream flavors. They don’t have a huge selection like other places but it’s still a good amount of choice. The place is well kept clean & friendly & cozy as well as it’s not too big or too small. Would def come back again
I can tell you about some of the flavours I tasted. Peanut butter and honey ice cream was simply a sloppy box you buy in a grocery store. Green matcha ice cream was green, thats all I can say. No more, no less. But my biggest grievance was with how miserly the store operators are - I asked for a simple thing, a glass of water. All I got was a cup that could hold no more than 10 ml. Please be a bit more generous when giving people water, especially when I had to wait 10 min to even enter your store on a feeling hot day.
I am disappointed that I have to write this review because years ago I had a pleasant experience at Honeycomb Creamery. However this was not the case this time around. I left the creamery highly upset and frustrated with my treatment by one of your servers who was a young lady with purple hair.I had come in with a pair of friends ready to order ice cream and have a pleasant experience. I was raised to treat everyone with respect and kindness. I was very polite in my ordering, only becoming curt after your server decided it would be in her best interest to yell at me after I had trouble hearing her because she was muffled by a mask . What if I had been someone who was hard of hearing? That behavior is simply unacceptable. As someone who has spent 10 years in the customer service industry I know that days can get rough and that you will sometimes get customers who purposely go out of their way to be difficult but that’s no excuse to take it out on the next customer. If your reaction to having a bad day is to take it out on someone whose only mistake was being unable to hear you then you shouldn’t be in customer service. Point blank. Period. At one point I had asked if it was possible to combine flavors to which the server yelled “Small or large?!” at me. If the answer to my question was no then a simple “Sorry you can’t combine flavors” would have sufficed. This server also after yelling at me proceeded to give less ice cream than the amount I had ordered. I had ordered a large one. Luckily her co-worker who was a woman who was about 5’3 with blonde hair caught her mistake and made sure I got a proper amount of ice cream. I will refer to the server with purple hair as Server P and the server who is blonde as Server B from now on to avoid confusion. It is disrespectful and inconsiderate of Server P to not only treat customers with hostility but for her to make the jobs of her co-workers more difficult by not giving customers the proper amount of ice cream. No one wants to have to make up for their coworkers mistakes. Server P was also very rude to Server B when she suggested that the ice cream was light. I remember Server P snapping at Server B and saying something along the lines of “ Well if you want to add more then do it!” in a very curt tone.Server P was rude, inconsiderate, hostile, childish and unprofessional. I hope she learns from her mistakes and learns not to take out her anger on the undeserving.I do want to thank Server B for being professional and treating customers with politeness.2 out of 5 stars.
Unique and delicious selection of flavors, plus the waffle cone was so super fresh! The ice cream tacos are to die for.
They make weird icecream but all of them makes your taste bud excited and experience a different dimensions of flavor ....
I would sell my kidney for the sweet corn and blackberry jam flavor
Flavors werent great. Consistency was odd.
The best ice cream in Boston. Their peanut butter fudge is fantastic and I even love their non-dairy options. Even if there’s a line, it’s easily worth the wait, and their staff is very friendly.
One of the best ice cream place in New England. Unfortunately they are not able to manage their own success. They are broken! You need to wait 1 hour after you order online. Crazy!
Best ice cream Ive ever had, hands down. Very creative, non-traditional menu. However, the service is below par and honestly quite rude. The runner came out and was fairly aggressive to the patrons in line rather than welcoming them to the creamery. If the ice cream wasnt A+, I would not come back.
Loved the creaminess, which I guess comes from great quality & fresh cream/milk!Liked the malted vanilla but salted caramel was too sweet. The first few bites/licks were good but I got surfeited pretty quick. Matcha waffle cone was a tad bitter.Ordered a large and being a slow ice cream eater it was melting all over (me) in the nice warm spring weather, but thats on me.Strongly suggest providing a hand sanitizer at the collection point.
Excellent range of flavours, and always introducing new ones! The ice cream tacos are great too, I just wish they would offer them on more days than just Tuesdays. The online ordering and contactless pickup works pretty well, though pickup can be pretty slow on warm days once they get busy.
The ice cream was good, but definitely not good enough to make up for the terrible customer service. We heard nothing but great things about honey comb, so you can imagine our disappointment when we were greeted by the most unfriendly staff member. I say greeted lightly. She was extremely short, gruff, and curt to every person in line. We were first time customers, but luckily we figured out the online ordering quickly. However, there was another new customer in line behind us, and when he told the staff member that he was figuring out how to order, she replied with an “UGH” and walked away. Needless to say, that potential customer left because he was confused and embarrassed. She did the same thing to another customer who informed her he was in the middle of ordering; replied with an annoyed “cool” and went back inside. It almost seems as if she was annoyed that customers were showing up during business hours? Mind you, it was a Tuesday at 8:30pm (4/14.)I wish I would’ve asked her name to pass it along, because her demeanor and attitude alone was enough to make us never want to stop in again.
Pretty good ice cream. i would recommend the thai ice tea and avoid the vegan banana option. ordering system is a bit archaic, you have to go to a website, order then wait in line. think having a QR code will make the process a bit more streamline
Really creative flavors, changing all the time. Be sure to try a sample before committing to a scoop though (note: you can only sample two flavors per visit).
Despite the 5 star ice cream, the service is quite off putting. We’ve been coming here for a while but tonight (2/21) the person who game us our ice cream was unnecessarily curt about the call-in line. We called to let them know we arrived, it was very cold and absolutely no one else was in line so I got back in the car (parked immediately outside the front door) for a moment. In that short moment, two people got in line. Immediately after, the service person came out with the ice cream and abruptly lectured me about being unfair to other customers (seemed like this was a general source of frustration for them).I get that it’s frustrating to figure out a way to serve customers during COVID. It’s also frustrating to try and support local businesses and get your nose snapped off for it. I hear that people don’t follow directions and it can be frustrating, and perhaps I should have waited outside. However, I recommend if the process is confusing to customers (waiting outside in an oddly blocked off area and staying there in the middle of winter despite no one being around), consider adapting to a process more based in human-centered design. It will be easier on staff and less likely to trip up customers.Regardless, it’s never appropriate to treat customers the way we were treated. Pretty shocked and disappointed.
Soooo good, delicious flavors and a great vegan option too.
Interesting and well-executed flavors, but...the basic quality of the ice cream itself is mediocre at best. Honestly left wondering if we had been given vegan ice cream by mistake, like, maybe there was a notice on the menu that we missed. Nope. Just not very good ice cream.
Incredibly rich and creamy ice cream, and the server was helpful and kind
The ice cream was delish and the cone was outstanding. Got scoops of the Thai tea and milk chocolate stracciatella in a matcha waffle cone. Cones are made in-house and theyre the perfect consistency. We came on a Saturday night, so it was pretty busy, but service was a little slow (hence the four stars).
Consistently amazing ice cream and interesting seasonal flavors
Good ice cream. Extremely poor service. If you’re in the mood to be berated by condescending staff while enjoying some ice cream I’d totally recommend this place.
Unique flavors. Online ordering and call before pick up. The jasmine ganache flavor is really good.
The ice cream here is ridiculously good. All the flavors are creative and interesting, so it was hard to pick. I got the seasonal pumpkin pepitas brittle. It was creamy with fresh pumpkin in it and not overly sweet. The crunch of the sweet and salty brittle really brought it to another level. Will definitely be back.
Yum!! My favorite things about honeycomb are their unique flavors, and waffle cones. Definitely get the waffle cone here - its light and crispy, and holds up to the melting ice cream pretty well. Im a huge fan of unique flavors and salt in ice cream (LOVE salt and straw in CA), so I come here for that -- jasmine sea salt ganache is my current fave with Thai tea, and salted caramel crackle high up there as well! Will be trying the London fog soon too hopefully. I will say that I prefer the texture of the ice cream at toscaninis (my other top local spot), and toscis giant chocolate chips, but that might be a personal preference. Cant wait to come back!
Great ice cream!!! But horrible customer service by the staff!!! It took almost 30 minutes to place an order and they refuse to help me out!!!
Ice cream is usually great. Ineptitude of pickup line is a disaster. Make a second line for pickups that are only pints; waiting 15+ minutes in line with only a couple customers in front of me, on multiple occasions, makes me not want to come back.
Honeycomb is my favorite ice cream shop! All of the flavors are so fun and delicious. Dont forget to get the honeycomb topping!!
The ice cream tasted very unnatural, has nothing to do with the real ice cream taste, expected better quality
For almost 8 dollars one can get two rather small scoops that half-heartedly fill the container (large size). Some of the flavors are actually quite good and then some left me wondering if it was ice cream or some kind of slush. Going to nearby creameries can get me almost twice as much ice cream for less and the heavier consistency I prefer.
My favorite ice cream place in Cambridge, if only the owners were as delightful as their flavors. Could tell from the last time we came that the place was run like a dictatorship. My friend was yelled at to stand in line even though hed said repeatedly he wasnt getting anything. Id asked just to see if perhaps they could do something special for my birthday and the poor guy ran back out saying, I dont have the authority Im so sorry. That became the catchphrase of the night, because on many occasions simple requests were responded with, dont have the authority. You need authority to put an extra scoop of ice cream on a sundae even if I said I could pay for it??
Fantastic quality ice creams with a wide range of flavors. You can really taste the quality of ingredients in the product. They also have a robust curbside pickup protocol so thats an added bonus. Well worth taking the few minutes to go here if youre in the area.
The ice cream here is great! Im not usually a fan of pumpkin things but the Pumpkin Ginger Crisp is AMAZING! And, it is non-dairy, which is key for me
Walking in, you can smell the honeycomb flavor. The ice cream was great (got the salted caramel and smores). Smores was harder to taste but the salted caramel was great. Its a good spot and close to the Porter station with a lot of other decent restaurants near by. The community wS mainly younger students or professionals living in the neighborhood.
The caramel on vanilla cone was decadent
Good ice cream. White Chocolate rose Jam is really nice.
Delicious ice cream served by a less-than-friendly employee.
Fan favourite ice cream? It was more like ice butter. If you are there to try out the flavours, great, if you get a kid size one flavour on a cup, probably ok, but if you get a small size and up, it becomes an overdose. The cream was probably over churned and it became oily. I had the honey oats flavour with a hint of salt, but due to the glistening effect I was eating frozen salted butter in the end. My Wifes dark dark chocolate was good though.
Amazing seasonal and vegan flavors, best ice cream Ive had in Cambridge!
Trash service who ever came up with the idea for ordering online right outside of the store should be fired. Ice cream was bad and overall just bad
Amazing ice cream. Great quality
Im saying it...hands down the most amazing soft serve in Boston! We are late in finding out about this place, yes thats true, but I am so glad we finally visited this summer. The first time we tried it, we had the chocolate and vanilla twist and we immediately had to have it everyday. What we like about it is that we dont feel heavy after eating it and dont feel sick. I have to admit, that the first time we had it, my daughter and I went back for a second cup. Im not proud to admit that but it was that good and even after the second cup, we felt full but didnt feel heavy or sick that it was too rich. I do appreciate the richness of some frozen custards but sometimes they can be too creamy that I can only eat it once in awhile. While other soft serve taste like nothing or its like milk with cornstarch. My husband tried the malted vanilla ice cream today and said that its the best vanilla he has ever tasted.I know these are bold statements but I will say it anyway. Its your loss if you dont try it.
Not your average flavor list!London Fog is Tea. Earl Grey. Cold.
Great ice cream! I got the horchata and Thai tea ice cream scoops and the mint lemonade. All three were great! I will definitely be back.
The BEST Ice Cream in the Boston Area. HoneyComb creamery is a small batch ice cream shop that sources their ingredients from local farmers and businesses. This ice cream is to die for, it is super sweet and creamy and you don’t need a huge size to satisfy your cravings (kiddy or small is perfect). They have a few nondairy options and other treats as well. If you see something you like make sure you get it as you might not see it for a while (like s’mores).
Excellent artisanal ice cream! We’ve been doing curbside pickup for a couple of months now, and we just can’t stop. Plus, their Socially distanced curbside pick up works perfectly: fast and convenient. We love it.
Always a ton of creative new homemade flavors to try. Ive never had a flight of ice creams before honeycomb but its the perfect solution when you cant pick just one. These days you have to order ahead online so make sure to do that first and save yourself some time.
Very unique ice cream flavors (think ginger strawberry or matcha), including a weekly ice cream taco that is usually fun. A bit on the pricey side.
The chocolate peanut butter was perhaps the best ice cream Ive ever had. Well done!
A wonderful place with the most delicious ice cream! I love the malted vanilla and peanut nutty honey! So yummy! Super nice/friendly staff! Easy parking on Mass Ave with lots of metered spaces.
Delicious, but they got rid of Banana Pudding and I’m on strike until they bring it back.
You must order online. Pick-up was easy and safe. My ideal honey lavender ice cream has a strong lavender flavor like Salt & Straws; the honey lavender here was slightly more honey than lavender. Pricy.
If you have a sweet-tooth this is a must try. You can smell the aroma of the honeycomb from outside - it adds a lot to the ice cream if you get it! I had the salted caramel, which I definitely think is their best flavor and the creamiest.
Honeycomb is excellent, interesting rotating flavors.
We LOVE Honeycomb Creamery ice cream. Its very hard to find ice cream that is truly made from scratch, and this small business goes above and beyond. They make everything from scratch, even their little gummy bears. I love supporting a local, woman owned business whos truly doing it all, including being a mom. We even bought our family pints of ice cream for Christmas one year. Amazing!
We went there today and were quite disappointed. We both tasted the mocha hazelnut flavor which didnt taste like coffee or chocolate and had some weird aftertaste . I also tasted the vanilla flavour which was also far from the original flavour of vanilla, and my spouse tried the honey lavender which was ok. The waffles (chocolate and matcha) were great.
The employees first ignored me (I was the only customer!) and then refused to take my in-person order for a pint of ice cream to go.
