My family is visiting from overseas and the 13 of us descended upon the Longbranch last week. Theyre big meat eaters and at first were not too enthusiastic about vegetarian fare. (My sis, one son and I are regular diners at Longbranch.) Guess what...the adults and children alike fell in LOVE with the variety of very tasty meals, sides and deserts. It was also the best and friendliest service weve experienced thus far during my familys extended visit to southern IL. We hope to return soon for more!

The owner is a very interesting woman, I love that she displays students art work. Her espresso is not bitter, her vegan breakfasts are very good! Inside or outside the service is tip worthy!

Longbranch coffee is yummy! And their food caters to multiple life styles (i.e. GF, DF, etc) which seriously impressed me for this area. I had the walnut salad with creamy dill dressing. It was worth every penny! Also, the pastries looked delightful. I didnt get to taste one, but cant wait to go back for another coffee and to test a treat.The atmosphere was cozy with a lovely historic downtown Carbondale view. I would definitely recommend!

This isnt your biscuits and gravy cafe. Its comfortable with a more specialty menu such as toast with avacado and goat cheese. They have great drink choices from special coffees (such as Bulletproof) and juices such as carrot, beets and apple blended. The service is perfect with just the right amount of attention. They love what their doing. If you enjoy a comfortable atmosphere and great menu options youll love as we did.

Went there while my bicycle was being fixed. It was a great choice, the art on the walls made it a very colorful and unique place to relax. The food was really good too. I had quiche which was a special and it came with perfectly cooked asparagus and a very tasty fruit salad. The coffee of the day was good though they only have one option each day. Would go here a lot if I lived close by.

Very happy with the service and friendliness of the staff. Ive been on a date here a couple of times, and always have a great experience. The menu is pretty good, and very vegetarian friendly. They also take COVID restrictions seriously, and while dont their best to make your visit as comfortable as possible. I especially love the large gas lamps they roll out, if you wish to eat in their outdoor patio area.

Great vegetarian and vegan food. My favorite coffee in Carbondale, you HAVE to try the Wils Cuban (or the London Fog if you prefer tea.) Menu was recently revamped (summer 2019) but some favorites include the spicy Chinese noodles, gorgonzola fettuccine or the happy artichoke panini. The pastries are good too!

Longbranch is by far my wifes favorite place to meet up with a friend or two and grab some good, in flavor, ingredients, and nutrition, food! We are no vegetarians but we have enjoyed anything we try off the menu at Longbranch, from their coffee selection, to their dining, and of course their bakery goods. Today I enjoyed the huevos rojos (red eggs). It included egg whites (per my request), red salsa, black beans, cheddar cheese, corn tortillas, cilantro and avocado.Absolutely delicious and a great brunch meal!

Went in and waited to be seated. Nobody seated me, asked if I just seat myself was told yes. Seated my self. Nobody came to wait on me. While I was there they waited on a few that had walked in after me. I left. Being that I had turned around after I passed this place and drove out of my way to give a local business my business I am disappointed.

One of my favourite stops when Im in Carbondale. Great coffee, baked goods and vegetarian deliciousness(even if youre not vegetarian!). Locally sourced and locally owned, community oriented and a hub of the downtown. Not to be missed if youre visiting.

Slow service, ok food. The salad I ordered did not come with avocado as stated on the menu and they charge $1.50-$2 for soy/almond milk - the highest I have ever seen.

My first time coming here brown rice and beans where good but not $12 worthy. I market for restaurants in Indiana and the portion size was not of market value. But I guess someone has to make up for the profit loss during the pandemic. Wait I thought that what the PPA LOANS were for. Also I handed the cashier my credit card hand to hand but it was tossed back to me on the counter SMH not professional at all.

If you ever see the mint chocolate fudge brownies in the bakery case, buy multiples. You wont regret it. I never regretted buying them, ever. I used to keep a few in my freezer wrapped in wax paper and thaw them out as needed to enjoy.Food, baked goods and drinks here are a mix of vegetarian and vegan fair, with gluten-free options. Youll find tofu, real eggs, vegan or vegetarian meat substitutes, dairy and dairy alternatives. The knowledgeable, friendly staff are happy to make recommendations and answer questions.Although a few years have passed since my last visit, I was in town and stopped in for some food with a few friends. Note that due to current COVID restaurant restrictions in Illinois, you are unable to sit down to eat inside the restaurant, but there is outdoor seating nicely spaced out (for social distancing) under a lovely pergola. You can also place carryout orders, which is what we did. Various bags of coffee beans and items with the Longbranch logo like mugs and t-shirts are also available for purchase.Our food was made quickly and with skill. My meal was a super tasty vegan Buddha Power Bowl. Tofu and seasonal veggies like onion, zucchini, red cabbage, kale, yellow squash, red and green bell peppers are tossed in a red Thai coconut milk curry sauce, topped with chopped basil and cashew pieces, and served on a bed of rice noodles. Healthy, flavorful and filling. It was everything I wanted that day. I was lucky enough to enjoy a vegan dark chocolate ginger cookie, a vegan orange dreamsicle cupcake and a vegan pecan sandie cookie for dessert. All were delicious, but my favorite of the bunch was definitely the soft, chewy dark chocolate ginger cookie studded with chocolate chips. It reminded me strongly of comforting spiced gingerbread, but in tender cookie form.Another thing I like about Longbranch is the art made by local artists available for purchase on the walls of the store. The proceeds go to For Kids Sake, a local organization that fundraises for children, schools and orphanages in Bangladesh. There are so many different kinds of art by so many talented local artists. Its truly a treat for the eyes, and a worthy cause.

Excellent food, very friendly folks. I dont drink coffee when I go there so I cant comment on that. For the quality I thinks the prices are reasonable. Deserts are a little pricey but the quality is very high so they are worth the price. Excellent ingredients do not come cheap. Leo

Longbranch is a Carbondale staple, in my opinion. They have great food and a friendly staff. My pup enjoys joining us on the patio during the warmer months. I never make a trip to town without stopping in for at least a cup of coffee. Ive been visiting this place for decades and have never had a bad experience.

BEST PLACE EVER!!! Food is amazing and especially their vanilla soda. Also amazing hospitality. The manager walked to each table and talked to us. Lovely experience and prices are good.

My Aunt and I made a trip up to Cdale just to visit this store. We both love coffee and were looking for somewhere different to go. This place was cozy, cute, warm and just our style. The coffee and sweets were well worth the drive. I will come here again sometime. It was a great birthday gift from my Aunt.

Me and my friends had the best visit last night! The owner, Elaine, was our waitress and made us all feel at home! She told us some very fun stories and gave us the best customer service we have ever had! THE FOOD IS AMAZING!! I had the soup of the day (tomato basil) and the happy artichoke sandwich! Those two items are my favorite and are so good together! Every item on the menu is amazing and home cooked with the best ingredients; all for reasonable prices!! The coffees, smoothies, and juices are to die for as well! You also cannot go wrong with all the amazing fresh bakery items!! PLEASE CHECK THIS PLACE OUT IF YOU HAVE NEVER BEEN! 100% my favorite restaurant in Carbondale, IL!!!! :)

All of the food is top notch! Priced reasonably considering the quality of the food. Ive never been disappointed in what I order. The ambiance is lovely, often like eating at an art gallery! They host other events as well that are interesting. Save room for dessert!

Always a five-star experience. The food is so good that non-vegetarians like it too. The owner and employees are knowledgeable about the menu. They can always answer questions about the food and their tea collection. And the bakery...the bakery alone is enough reason to visit. The owner is very involved in the community too - an additional reason to support this restaurant.

Delicious food and great Cafe atmosphere! They have homemade cream soda with various flavors that I recommend trying. They also have outdoor seating that is lovely when its nice out. I tried my second ever veggie burger there after having decided long ago that I didnt like them and my whole view on them changed when I tried theirs. Simply delicious. Everything is vegetarian from what I saw on the menu. The pricing is reasonable for the amount​ of food you get, too.The parking in the area is by parking meter only so that should be taken into consideration if you want to park close by. We went during a time when the place wasnt too busy, so we had a nice quiet dinner. It is a spacious cafe so it can seat a lot of patrons however.All in all would recommend to a friend!

Longbranch Cafe and Coffee House, is a fantastic little place. Its quite bigger on the inside than it looks from the outside, and also features an outdoor patio area. The food here is unique. Quite a bit of vegetarian fare. Fantastic baked goods. Great coffee. A fantastic place to go anytime of the day or night that theyre open. Interesting crowd. Always something unique happening at this place. Highly recommended you go.

Super place for coffee and dessert in Carbondale. They also have other menu items but Ive never eaten there for a meal. Great service and espresso/coffee made right. Probably the only place I this area like this. Very open minded and accommodating atmosphere. Everyone should feel welcome.

Hygge, cozy atmosphere. Great place to work or hang out. Tasty food, veggie only. Theres a room in the back for big parties. Cute. Pastry display case full of sweets. The parking lot is owned by the City, so if you park there be sure and press the button for the correct parking slot, which the person doing the honors on that detail failed to do, netting us a 7 dollar ticket.

Well I didn’t realize that this place doesn’t serve meat. I didn’t research it on Google before going. My food had way too much hummus, but without it I bet it would have been good. They serve a Very Good Cuban Coffee. Next time I’ll just get a salad or a bean burger. They also have pastries and treats I believe!

Great place to eat! Delicious organic food! The coffee is top of the line. They offer homemade lavender syrup. This place also has live entertainment on certain days. One of my favorite places. 🍽☕🌹 They do a lot of charity work. The desserts are gluten free.

One of my favorite places has honestly really gone down hill. Although their pastries still rock, the wait staff was verrrry below average. Long wait just to get orders taken, no water until asked, wrong food /: I will say everyone was very nice, it just seemed as though no one was experienced. New menu is barely new, new hours prevent you from having a late night bite, overall I’m just really disappointed. Sorry LB, it’s juts not the same.

I like this place and go there occasionally. Last time I was less than pleased with one of the employees and I took it to the general manager/owner, she handled it wonderfully. Her kindness made up for everything, she’s such a warmhearted person, and a beautiful soul.

Honestly, the food is pretty solid and I would certainly come here again if it wasnt for the employees. I see on other reviews here that apparently their has been some trouble with management, so possibly that is a cause. The employees have been rude to both me and my girlfriend on separate occasions. One time, for example, my girlfriend put a tiny piece of lettuce in my water just as a joke. I didnt care and continued to drink my water, until the waitress came up and said, Well, guess youre done with this. In a very annoyed voice. She then took my water and I got no more for the remainder of my meal. Then, when she came to take dessert orders, she turned her back to me, as to not allow me to order, like she was punishing me with the silent treatment. I would have thought I had imagined this if not for the other two people I was there with laughing at the absirdity of what the waitress had just done. Im sorry if the lettuce thing hurt her feelings but I feel she maybe took it a bit far. I have other experiences similar to this in which staff were very rude to us. A shame because we love vegan food and the food has always been solid.

My adventurous adult child & partner suggested lunch here today. When I walked through the door I immediately took im the smell of wonderful coffee! The baked goods case had beautiful selections. The three of us all ordered different items from the menu & all our selections were delicious! Very inviting atmosphere...hope to return very soon!

I go to the Longbranch Café several times a month to meet with business colleagues. The staff is friendly and able to make suggestions for the best items on the menu. The bakery items are delicious, I like knowing I can trust in quality of the ingredients, the space is quiet, and I am confident in inviting my colleagues to meet me there. The only negative suggestion I would make to the public is to not go here if you are wanting a big steak. You wont find any meat on the menu here, but what you will find can satisfy your sweet tooth and appetite just as well.

Came here for a short break after hiking at Shawnee. The food was simply amazing. It was some of the best vegetarian food I’ve had in ages. And Elaine is one of the sweetest people I have ever met. I will definitely be going back if I’m ever in the area again.

Absolutely LOVE the longbranch. The food and drinks are awesome. The staff and atmosphere are very welcoming. Love the art and the ties to local business and community. A visit to the branch is a must if youre in the dale.

Ive been going to Longbranch on and off for the last five years. The food is always excellent and the drinks are on moderate to good, depending in whos working. The service, however, is why there are long periods of off. Very few of the staff are ever friendly, and most seem to think that theyre doing a favor by simply taking your order and making your drink. A coffee shop should be a friendly place and Longbranch, for the most part, fails miserably.

My wife and I had breakfast here this morning and it was very good. Regrettably Id been avoiding this place for years due to an odor of either boiled cabbage or unwashed hippie that insinuated itself into my clothes on my first visit not unlike the BO from the valet in that Seinfeld episode. Anyway, thankfully, today the smell was nowhere to be smelled. Fresh coffee, one of the two smells likely to wake me from a coma, the other being my dog, greeted me upon arrival. I had to have some, which I did, along with a fried egg Sammy, which was wonderful. My wife seemed to enjoy her Huevos Red which she finished in record speed before allowing me to share my Sammy with her. Our waitress was completely on top of things; filling coffee and water, clearing away spent dishes and bringing the check. The check was reasonable; $19 something.

Will makes THE best mocha, and the whipped cream is amazing. Their baked goods are also sold in several other spots near by, theyre just that wonderful. The place is busy because everything is tasty and healthy!
