I came to KNS to get a car hood painted after buying an aftermarket one for my Mustang. It was a fiberglass hood that came with a scratch from shipping that needed to be repaired prior to paint. My quote felt reasonable and included fixing the scratch and the full paint process (sand, prime, paint, and clear). I was told the job would take two days and to drop the car off in two weeks.Well, the job took 4 days and I was disappointed by the job to say the least. The paint looked like you were looking into a kaleidoscope and there were pits and bubbles all over the hood that had already starting chipping and exposing bare material underneath. After 2 days of having it I brought it back and showed my concern for the quality vs l the price I paid. The owner first tried to say that it was defects in the hood and that he only does quality work, thats why hes been open for 30+ years etc. etc. Regardless, he took it back and said hed get it sanded back down and assess if it was a good problem or a paint process problem. The final product was 10x better and was what I expected to pick up the first time. While it still wasnt perfect (a paint run and bubble in like 2 spots), the paint job had little to no orange peel and looked amazing in comparison to the first.In the end, Im happy with finished product but the process that it took to get there was less than desirable or necessary. If more skill and time had been put in the first time, a second time wouldnt have been needed.

Mr. Keith and his employees were amazing great people. Mr. Keith is very personable and easy to speak with. I heard about him from a neighboring auto-shop and every word was true. He is genuine and provides excellent work. Great man, great business, and great experience. I’d recommend him shop to anyone of my friends/family.

I am extremely disappointed with the quality of work from KNS automative. I took my car for a body work based on the reviews here. I am very disappointed with the quality of service and attention to detail. I had to take my car multiple times each time working with the insurance claims team to fix the missing parts. The technician did a poor job in taking a complete survey of all work that needs to happen and see if anything was missing in the initial assessment. I ended up taking my car multiple times to tell them they have missed one another thing. The car is still not fixed completely. This is such a waste of time. The office takes pride in their work and unfortunately I did not see that in their quality and attention to detail. I will think twice to take my car there again.

I can’t say enough great things about Kieth and his staff. He provided me with an estimate which was a third of the price of two other local shops.He completed the work on time and flawless. He’s honest and personable two qualities that seem to be lost these days. His little dog is worth a visit alone.

Going to KNS is a no brainer. KNS was at least half the cost as the estimates I got. Mr. Newman the owner was fun to deal with. The car was done on time and the car was back to its form before the accident. If all business could run like this the world would be a much much better place.

Impeccable customer service skills and very knowledgeable. I made appt. To bring vehicle in for repairs.WOW was I in for a pleasant surprise!!. When I went to pickup my car it look like a brand new vehicle. He did an excellent job. Everything he promised to do he did it and then some. He even washed my vehicle and clean the insides. They Fixed the trunk of my car. Keith the owner is very nice and I love the fact that its in Chapel Hill. I would recommend them to a friend. Plus they have a cute little dog there inside the office.

The owner was nice enough, but the repair done wasnt a quality one. I took it back once to have some of the repairs fixed and gave the owner a written list, but not everything on that list was corrected. My trunk alignment is still off, my rear brake light alignment is still off, and there are obvious places where the paint job done was just overall poor. At this point I dont want to deal with the hassle of taking it back again for another repair.KNS automotive is good if youre looking for a cheap place to get your car fixed, but if youre looking for a quality repair, then look elsewhere.

KNS Collision is the best automotive shop around. I needed a new bumper and they offered the lowest price out of the four body shops that I went to. Their workmanship was incredible and my car looks amazing. In addition to replacing my bumper they took it upon themselves to wash the outside and clean the inside of my car. I had a wonderful experience at KNS. They fixed my bumper though I was sure it needed to be replaced. Keith, the owner, stuck to his estimate even though he needed extra parts and took extra time on my repair. They even cleaned the inside of my car free of charge. I was very impressed!!

KNS Auto was wonderful to work with! Their prices were so reasonable - which is great because we werent doing our bumper repair through the insurance company. They got everything done quickly and were so nice to deal with. And when we showed up a month later asking about a problem with the bumper, they took care of it right away... even though they knew (and we eventually found out) the new problem was caused by our teenager and was NOT due to a problem with their original work!

Got my car fixed reasonably fast. Very fair prices and Keith and his crew did a fantastic job replacing a door and fixing the bumper. The only downside was while dealing with the front desk person. Shes very nice but disorganized and very forgetful. Keeps you on hold for too long trying to find something simple and doesnt communicate well during the actual repair process. Still, I will probably go back in the future

I took my car there and after he fixed it the dealers wanted to buy it. I am very happy with what they did and the price is reasonable. They took time and though I complained at first for the time, thinking back, it is worth the wait. I will definitely recommend them to any one. I took my car in with a dent on my front fender and lip almost hanging off. I went to three other body shops within a 15 mile radius they all returned with quotes that were above what I was willing to pay (out of pocket). If you are like me, you dread taking your car in for any type of work, including body work. I usually cringe while waiting for the price, which is usually even higher than Im expecting and the service is subpar. I have an Audi A6 that I wanted to get some body work done, had taken it to another shop in town, and quickly left after the price I was quoted for just a portion of the work. Then, I found out about KNS and read the reviews. I was skeptical, but decided to go for an estimate. I met Keith, who was friendly, honest, and completely different than just about anyone Ive met in the car business. I had a number in mind, and Keith blew me away with his quote. I had work to be done on the front and rear bumper, plus some blending on 1 of the quarter panels. Price for all the work was 1/2 of what I was quoted for just the front bumper by another shop. I just picked the car up and the work they did on my car is spectacular. Keith went above and beyond what was quoted, but didnt charge me any extra. Its so rare to meet someone so honest and fair. KNS will be my go to for any future work I need done on any of my vehicles and I couldnt recommend Keith and his business enough. Dont bother with other body shops, head straight to KNS. I cant remember the girls name at the front desk, but she is very friendly and fun to talk to. Everyone there I met treated me great and the turn around was quick!

Getting my car fixed at KNS was the best decision I could have made. I am a UNC student, on a budget, and was not going through insurance. The owner was very nice and made all the efforts possible to save me the most amount of money possible. My car was returned looking brand new, as if I had just bought it. And it was cleaned inside and outside. It was returned in a timely manner as well. Overall, I would most definitely recommend KNS to anyone!

Took a car here after a family member had an accident. Keith at KNS is helpful and reasonable, and weve had good experiences with him in the past. In this case he initially underestimated the repair cost and then discovered more internal damage upon closer inspection. This felt a little sloppy, since it changed our decision about whether to repair it, but overall we still had a good experience dealing with him. Because of the circumstances in our case, he was able to waive storage fees that would have usually applied.

The WORST experience ever!It is obvious that a small part of the engine cover drop off from my car underneath, I asked how much does it cost. He never told me the price until his technician replaced TWO screws and SIX clips. And thats it. Then he took my car key and told me $35 DOLLARS. It only took him 10 MIN to replace TWO screws and SIX clips.The disgusting experience ever! The most worst part is he will never tell you the price until he take your car key when his technician is checking out your car.I really want to give zero star. By the way, he is so rude and always looks angry.

Keith Newman, owner of KNS Collision, is a dishonest business owner, so please read my experience before taking your car here.April 9, 2014 - 3:30 PMMy car had been backed into in a parking lot, but luckily, the person left a note. I brought my car to Keith Newman of KNS Collision. After a short wait, I met Keith, and we went outside to take a look at my car. I described my situation and showed him areas that had been scraped. I asked if these scrapes could be buffed out completely, and after telling me that these were light scratches that did not penetrate the clear coat and could be buffed out, I asked again to confirm if they could be buffed out 100%, hoping to restore my car to pre-accident condition. Keith re-assured me that he could and that he would do it for $75 and that if it was not back to 100% and I was not satisfied, he would not charge me for his work. This sounded a little expensive just for buffing a few areas, but he promise that, if I was not satisfied, I would not be charged for the buff job. He told me to come by at anytime the next day.April 10, 2014 - 9:30 AMI brought my car back to KNS Collision, and one of his employees came into the room to get me, and I showed him the three areas that would need to be buffed. After about 30 minutes, my car was back and ready to go. Keith walked me out to show me my car, and as soon as we exited the front door, he stopped cold in his tracks and took a long, over-dramatic gaze at my car. His employee had washed my car. That was a nice gesture, because my car was filthy from the pollen. He pointed out that it looked like a brand new car.We walked over to the front of my car where then I take a close inspection of all three of the areas that had been scraped. His employee had done an okay job at buffing, but there were a few scrapes that could not be buffed out despite Keiths claim that they could. One of the three scraped areas even looked untouched. Keith then pointed out that one of his guys did some extra buffing in one area, but there were still scrapes in that area when I looked at it, so he said that instead of $75, I would have to pay $120. He was going to charge me $45 extra even though I was not satisfied that the bumper was not restored to the condition that he promised. I was very skeptical at this point, but I went inside to see what would happen next.He gave me an estimate for $285.73 and said that I would have to put down a $120 deposit for Sand + Buff Front Bumper, which was hand-written on the estimate. Something seemed completely off at this point. After reviewing the estimate, he had charged me 3.4 hours of Paint Labor at $45/hr. and 3.4 hours of Paint Supplies at $30/hr., but I didnt have any paint work done to my car. It was also 10:30 AM, only an hour after I had stepped foot into his business. I pointed this out to him, and he completely avoided the issue and gave me an estimate for $438.73! He had increased the Body Labor from 0.5 hours to 3.9 hours! He told me this was the estimate that I should give to the insurance company of the person that bumped into my car. Both of these estimates were completely dishonest, and he was trying to scam me and the other person out of a lot of money. I asked for an estimate with ONLY the work that summed up to $120. He did as I requested, but after looking at that estimate, the $120 was listed as the price for a new bumper and categorized as Miscellaneous. I told him that I wanted an estimate specifically for the buffing that had been done to my car. He then gave me an estimate for $81.50. He had increased the labor from the initial 0.5 hour to 1 hour, added a $20 Materials charge, and added a $15 charge for the car wash that previously had been complementary and had not been on any of the other estimates. I was tired of dealing with his deception and asked him to take off the $15 for the car wash. He gave me another estimate for $66.50. Im not one to typically write reviews but I must after KNS went above and beyond for my car. I took my VW Jetta here for a minor ding on the rear a few months ago and they restored the scratches perfectly with paint that matched. It looks completely flawless and you would not be able to tell an accident occurred. Not only did they exceed my expectations on the repair work, but the price was reasonable as well. Not only that but they cleaned the interior of my car and waxed my rims at no additional charge! I was blown away at the service of this place and highly recommend it to anyone who needs any repair work done. I will certainly be using them as long as I am in CH.

Absolutely disappointed with this place. I had heard they were good to deal with, but for the second time I have tried to get a simple bumper repair on my truck, and they screw me over. I made an appointment on Monday at lunch, to drop it off first thing in the a.m. Tuesday when they open, and was assured since it shouldve been simple, that it would be the first one worked on. And my truck sat in the same spot i parked it in all day long. When i returned the owner was not there, and the gentleman that helped just assumed i wanted to bring it back again. I told the owner the day before when i set the appointment that i work out of my truck, and cant leave it for numerous days. So i lost a day of work, and yet they did not seem to care about it.

WOW WOW and WOW!!! I first met Keith about 6 month ago, a neighbor hit my car and I was in need of repair. He gave me an estimate less then half of a certified insurance shop. Granted, the estimate didnt include some of the plastic parts that they were replacing, but in my opinion it wasnt needed. I sold the car as is and didnt get a chance to use his services. However, November came, I was away on business and my wife lost control of the car. The insurance deemed the car as totaled. I didnt have a chance to see the car and was a little nervous, but sent her to Keith so he can take a look at it. He inspected the car and gave a VERY VERY reasonable estimate. Why would insurance total it and Keith said that the car can be fixed? I was skeptical and 500 miles away. My wife ended up going to him a couple of times to confirm his and insurance estimate. He even offered to call the insurance company and tell them that they are full of it (didnt really have to go the extra mile, but offered to do so). We decided to get the car repaired. All I have to do is say WOW!!! I came in the day after the car was repaired, I couldnt believe my eyes. The color matched perfectly (always my biggest fear, Ive seen sooo many crappy paint jobs, even by insurance shops), the repairs were excellent, the car looks like new. We are very thankful to Keith and his team. He saved us the car and potentially a lot of money if we were to buy a new car. The car only has 50k miles on it and mechanically in an excellent condition. All those things that insurance company warned about, were looked at and passed by not only Keith, but a mechanic that Ive been taking my car to for years.FYI, asked for a windshield quote from Keith, ended up being half price of that given to me by SafeLite.If you dont take the time to read the whole review, know this, GREAT SHOP, GREAT SERVICE EXCELLENT PRICE.Keith, thank you very much.

Keith at KNS really came to the rescue for us. My son at Duke got rear-ended, by fault of the tailgater. The insurance company said it would cost $5,000 to repair, and that his aged car (which still runs like a top) was only worth $$2000, or less. They offered us $2,000 to sign off and go away. No way could we have replaced the car with a reliable one for that price. However, it did have a bent frame, ruined bumper, warped side panel, crushed trunk, etc.After googling a few body shops in the Durham, Raleigh, Chapel Hill area, I phoned Keith at KNS all the way from New Mexico and told him of my kids situation. He promptly sent a tow truck to Durham, had the car towed in, and repaired it like new, including towing, for $1539.38. My son was back on the road within a few days, car is in great shape, and should see him through his last two years at Duke. Needless to say, we plan to settle with the insurance company for more than enough to pay for the repair. Hooray Keith. Hooray KNS. And we did it all by telephone. I shopped around to 4 places in the area for my repair (side view mirror replacement) and was given quotes of $160 on average for the service alone (not including the part). Some said I would have to wait a day for the service. KNS Automotive did it in about 15 minutes and charged me $35 for service. The staff was also very friendly. Bottom line: I will never go anywhere else again.

Im not sure why this shop has such high reviews. I took my car in for an estimate, and the price is ridiculously cheap. However, Keith (the assessor) doesnt seem to know anything about car and cant answer /dont want to answer basic car questions on how hes planning to fix the damage. He said my car can be fixed in a day, and frankly i dont know if thats possible since it requires some paint work .
