Superb customer service and knowledge! First time here and I’ll definitely be back when in town. They helped me narrow my mirrorless camera choice down and took a look at an old film camera I brought to get a battery and film. Replaced the battery right there for me and checked the film camera to ensure it still worked.

The team offers technical advice on equipment from high-end, new technology like mirrorless systems to mechanical solutions for a studio like light mounting systems. These pros take the time to keep up to date so my team can spend more time and energy creating artful imagery for our clients.Additionally, SEC rents equipment which is an important aspect of any smartly managed studio. The pricing is fair and the equipment is reliable, clean, and comes with a carrying case (usually a hip belt case for lenses). Plus, the used equipment is priced to sell and, if the Carrboro store doesn’t have it, you can almost always head to the Raleigh store where Tony probably does have what you’re looking to buy.One thing that I believe is important is SEC gets the same deals as the “out of town”, jumbo camera stores and will match prices. You get the same price, no delivery fees, and a knowledgeable person all while supporting a local business. I’m a 20+ year customer. 5-stars for our local, friendly camera store⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

When I first started photography i was so intimidated by all of the gear available and had no clue what to buy, but the staff helped me every step of the way. Every time I visit I always buy more than I anticipated, but Im happy to do so. Ill always be a lifelong customer!

We went to Southeastern in search of a new camera for an upcoming trip. The staff was incredibly helpful and very nice. They took their time showing us different cameras, answering any questions we had, and were an incredible resource for wannabe photographers. They had a huge selection of cameras for sale, both old and new along with tons of equipment. Would highly recommend going back for any photography questions or needs.

My wife and I were in the market to purchase a new camera, and Southeastern Camera was recommended to us. Dennis was wonderful and offered us several options in line with what we were thinking. We were able to try everything and use multiple lenses to ensure we liked the camera before buying. He advised on bags and other accessories, but we never felt like we were pressured to buy anything that was recommended. We had a great experience there and will be back!

Visited two times. First visit I was just looking, second I was ready to buy. Staff treated me the same both times. They were genuinely interested in helping me find the right solution for my project and budget. Ended up buying a combination of used and new equipment. Ive been a fan of Southeastern Camera for years. My most recent experience has been as nice as all my previous ones. I need a point-and-shoot/compact sort of camera for an upcoming trip, because the type of trip makes my regular DSLR a poor choice. The Southeastern Camera man and I looked at various new and used ones, he pulled up comparisons for us to discuss, and I ended up getting a used Sony that is exactly right.Ive bought a variety of items from them through the years - DSLR, tripod head, and various and sundry other items. I really like dealing with them. I find their prices competitive. I find their knowledge priceless. We are lucky to have an honest-to-gosh real camera store in our area.

I have been a customer for many years and always appreciate the knowledgeable staff here and have bought lots of camera equipment and supplies here. The other day I came in with my daughters camera that was broken and they were able to fix it and save me hundreds of dollars. Great local camera store.

This is a real old fashioned camera store with knowledgeable and helpful staff. Can get equipment from their Raleigh store as needed. I buy my cameras and lenses here because their prices are competitive with online stores and I have a place to take them for guidance or repair.

They are helpful and have anything you might need and if they dont they will get it for you.

Great local store experience! The staff is friendly and helpful as a bonus and you cannot put a value on being able to try out equipment right there. I used to be a Best Buy/Amazon shopper, but this is now my first stop for any photography related purchases.

One of the only shops like this left; come here for proper photographic equipment sold by proper photographers. They have the same discounts that everyone online does too, so shop local and meet some awesome folks in the process.

Stopped by today with a question about my camera. Not only did they help me navigate the functions, but corrected the issue and made sure that I knew how to correct it myself. Will definitely be back and recommend all business that I can. I didnt browse the shelves very much, but they seem to have an excellent selection and lots of brands.

I went to southeastern camera to get passport photos; Dennis was very attentive and kind in helping me, and generous with his time as he took couple of photos to make sure it looked nice and the dimensions were accurate. Lot of professional photographing equipment, which I don’t personally know much about, but seemed like you could find anything you’d need!

This is a modest sized shop with a much bigger selection than I would have expected. The staff is very knowledgable and they have photo developing on site. Having worked as a Professional photographer a beginnin professional could get pretty much anything they need to start and simple alternatives are there for average consumers. Worth a drive.

We know nothing about cameras and these guys were so kind and helpful. We wont go anywhere else for our new camera needs. Thanks guys!!!

Ive shopped at Southeastern for over twenty years. Excellent processing and developing every time. The entire staff goes above and beyond to help and provide their expertise.

What an awesome experience visiting one of last remaining hometown camera shops in America. There were no high-pressure salesmen to deal with. Unlike the big box stores who may sell some cameras along with other electronic devices, this shop is a photographers paradise. The layout of the store is simple and easy to relax in. The employees were more like a favorite teacher from school who were happy to answer questions. If there was something they did not remember or recall, they were honest in saying they didnt know. Maybe things are a bit higher than what you would pay online, but I personally guarantee you will never experience the same customer service anywhere else. In conclusion, I wish I could give higher than a 5-star rating.

An iconic Carrboro business that takes the hassle out of making important decisions about your camera needs. The advice has always been exactly what I was seeking and the prices have always been lower than both local big box stores and on-line discounters, which is surprising to many. Though the quintessential photog destination in this region, they seem to somehow have everything for every age and kind of photographer. The people behind the counter are all pros and enthusiasts who can compare any two cameras in their own head and tell you which is better for your needs. Because they are enthusiasts first, they dont seem to mind if they dont carry the model that works best for you and you need to go elsewhere. That said, they seem to have almost everything and I havent had to do that. They are also happy to order something they dont have in stock if you are willing to wait a few days. This is the kind of store people reminisce about and mourn when they are lost to a community. This place does everything right and deserves my money more than anywhere else. Id be glad to pay a premium for their products. Fortunately, that is not necessary.
