I purchased a new radio for an older car online. I have a bit of experience with installs, so I figured it was no big deal. When I got the package and all the extras involved, I realized that I was going to have a problem putting everything in the radio cavity in the dash (2005 BMW). So I went to Caton. They were very helpful, and agreed to complete the install for me at a reasonable price.When I picked the car up, I should have done a full test, but didnt discover that the steering wheel controls were not working until I was almost home. (I had purchased a new steering wheel control module with the radio, and had it wired and working before drop off). So I called and Sabrina asked me to bring it back.Once they determined the module was not working, she said she would order me a new one. I assumed that was accepting responsibility for breaking my module. Otherwise, wouldnt I have just called the place I bought it from and told them it wasnt working? Of course.So the new module came in, and I was asked to bring the car in on Saturday between 9 and 10. She said it would take an hour or so, so I decided to wait. By 10:00, the only person with a key to where the module was had a flat tire and was going to be late. So I got a ride home.About 4:00, they called to ask me what they were supposed to be doing, since Sabrina had left and they couldnt reach her. I clarified, and then got a ride back over to the shop. They finally got everything together, then presented me with an invoice for the controller. The replacement for the one they broke! They couldnt get hold of Sabrina, so I was held hostage. Pay for the invoice, or leave the car. Ugh. After much consternation, I paid the invoice and decided to deal with it Monday .Monday morning, I called and talked to Sabrina. She was nice enough (always), but said John the owner would have to call me. It is now Wednesday and I have not heard from John.Overall I am happy with the service, and this would be a 4 or 5 star review if they would resolve this issue.Update 4-29-2021 - I went back, after not receiving the promised call back, to have an issue resolved. I met with John and Sabrina and we came to a satisfactory conclusion. As such, I am increasing my rating and will continue to do business with them in the future
DON’T GO HERE….EVER! I had a head unit replaced in a 2005 Avaitor. Since then the battery is dead in 2 days if not driven because of incorrect wiring. I’ve returned on 4 different occasions to have remedied, the last time they had the nerve to charge me an additional $175 and that solved nothing. I will post here daily in efforts to steer others clear of this place.
Just wanted to say that this shop greatly exceeded my expectations. I had put off going to Caton Radio to even get an estimate on work for over a year after reading some of the reviews, but I guess those with problems are the ones apt to provide a review, and when everything works out great, we often fail to spend the effort to thank those that contributed.I don’t want to be one of those as my experience with Caton Radio far exceeded my expectations. I have a very basic 2013 Tundra pickup truck, which my wife has been driving a good bit lately due to some non-profit work she’s doing to feed the less fortunate. And, she has wanted a backup camera added to the truck so she could better back in to loading docks. In addition, she drives several hours a couple of times a week and really wanted Apple Carplay to use with her iPhone while driving. We didn’t even have bluetooth in the truck before going to Caton Radio.So our requirements were simple when I met with the owner, John, on a Saturday afternoon. He spent just about an hour with me, explaining the work and providing recommendations on an affordable head unit and camera that would provide bluetooth connectivity, Apple Carplay and Android Auto, and a backup camera that would work just like a factory unit coming on when shifting the truck into reverse.I was very skeptical they could pull all this off and make it look factory installed, but went ahead and parted with my deposit and scheduled the work for the very next Friday afternoon.I waited while they did the work that took about four hours, but when John met me at the truck to provide an overview and set up my phone, I was blown away, the install was beautiful and I don’t believe any normal person would think that it didn’t come from the factory when the truck was purchased. Everything worked flawlessly, and John spent another 30 minutes making sure that I was well versed in all the operation and options that the head unit could provide. Five stars for John and the staff at Caton Radio for their excellent work and support. Thank you, J
Called them three times with no answer. Took them a day to return my email. so, I called Poptronics who answered their phone after the second ring and were very knowledgeable about the system I wanted. So, I purchased a system for 6k and will be installed next week. I would recommend to Caton Radio to pay someone to start answering your phones. Or maybe you can afford to lose 6k deals?

I just picked up my second car that Caron Radio has perfected for me. This time they installed a 10 speaker, two amplifier, head unit and a custom sub woofer in my Z4. The sound is incredible. They spent the extra time to show me every feature on my head unit, paired my phone and open my common apps. The installers really enjoy their jobs and take the time to make perfection. I couldn’t be happier... not so much for my neighbors!!!!
My father got custom seats installed for his monster truck sized Ford F-350. Let me tell you that those seats are by far one of the best features on his truck now and he agrees too! If I could post pictures of it I would.All around 10/10 experience. Customer service are nice and respectful, and they know exactly what they’re doing. Definitely would recommend!
I got an alarm and a backup camera installed on my 05 Tacoma. I am very satisfied with the workmanship and the time they took to explain all the features and answer my questions. The customer service department was also excellent and again took the time to answer all my inquiries. Overall an outstanding job and business. I will use their expertise and skill in the future.
(Take your vehicle there at your own risk). I left my 750 BMW there to see what the problem was with my amplifier. When I came back to let them know if I wanted them to replace the amplifier i noticed that some property of mine was missing from my truck. I tried to reach out to who I guess was the owner or the owners son and what I got in return was a want to be tough guy. The guy basically cursed me out over the phone and then hung up on me. In anger I went up there to see how tough he was in person but as you can guess he was totally different face to face. One more thing. They were going to charge me 13.hundred tx. o fi
All I have to say is my Jeep sounds great. They did a wonderful job. Set my first car alarm.
Incredible attention to detail, and patient staff. I went with a stealth install, and now have a phenomenal sound system with 0 sacrifice or flash. It was a challenging job, but they took their time and did it right. My sub-woofer is completely hidden, and takes up 0 trunk space. Wait times can be lengthy, so its always worthwhile to have a ride to pick you up and drop you back off, but the trade off is the best audio tech team in the DMV. These guys are pros!
What can I say Caton Radio is awesome. Sabrina is very helpful and knowledgeable about all the services they provide. Anytime I had an issue, just gave them a call and either Sabrina or Jon took care of me. They through the years have become one of my gotos for my automotive/car audio/video needs.

Caton Radio is the best! Our 2016 Jeep Wrangler was having radio issues and Caton Radio fixed it. They offer many services: back up cameras being one of them. Abraxas in the office and the other woman are great. They know their stuff and will take good care of you. I highly recommend Caton Radio!

Very niche market dashboard cluster replacement, but they do a great job.They said could drive a car without a dashboard but I just was not comfortable, not an issue left car there. Expect 7-10 day turn around. Highly recommend.
I arrived at Caton auto 9 AM to have my a daul 2- channel dash cam with the viper alarm I purchased installed ! At 4:50pm, I knew they had messed up the wiring in my truck. My boyfriend, who was still at work got concerned that I wasn’t home yet. He saw the notifications was coming in on his phone because we prior installed a tracker as well, my truck was moved five times throughout the day 😤😤 when I finally got my truck at 9:09 PM. 😡They hadn’t even finish installing a dash cam in correctly ! My truck started up with the remote control. but the door wouldn’t unlock!!! I also was told at the last minute that I need A needed an longer extension to run wire through the back of my van!! Into add insult to injury, it was going to be another additional charge to put that in!! 🤬🤬 they should have noticed that when they open the box, the cord wasn’t long enough for my commercial van ! They charge me knowing my dash cam wasn’t working !!! To add more insult to injury! While, I was driving my viper alarm siren was going off and The Howard County police officer pulled me over 😤Thinking my truck was stolen!! Got a citation and was told by the office to sue them!!! Because they did a horrible job !!!

Had a remote start installed today. With the snowstorm approaching they got in touch with me yesterday asking about my VIN so they could get a head start programming it. I dropped my car off first thing in the morning and they were finished before lunch. Great experience all around.!

Dan S: Just had new speakers- amp- sub- digital processor installed today in my 2019 Toyota Tundra. Factory speakers were junk. John the owner spent ample time helping me select what I needed. His recommendations were 1st class.The Install Tech was the bomb! I sat in the vehicle with him while he tuned in my system with the digital processor through Bluetooth on his phone. He would not stop set up until it was perfect, getting the ranges worked out. Truly treated my experience as if it was his own. The clear output was better then I ever expected- the level off quality sound coming out was impressive. I highly recommend John and his team.

I have a Hyundai Accent 2019. At first i had a defected product that was giving me the biggest headache. Caton Radio took plenty of hours to figure out the problem. I am very satisfied with the professionalism, technical skill and customer service of Caton Radio. I gave them a complicated project to retrofit my 2006 van with a new radio, inverter and back-up camera. They took care of every detail and I am happy! Ive attached a picture of the custom panel that the technician installed to make my inverter work.

I have been to Caton Radio multiple times. First time I asked for them to replace two front and back speakers in my car. Not even a week later, the front passenger speaker blew and I had to come back. They then told me I can upgrade with better speakers and had to pay labor and parts again - the better speakers weren’t an option the first time around. My second time, I got tinted windows put on my car. After I received my car back, the car smelled as if someone was smoking a cigarette while working on my car, every door was wet with a water type substance that they used, the seats were moved from their original position and all my stuff was moved from the back seats to the front seats. Messy work to give the car back to a customer that could have easily been avoided. Besides the below average work they do, the employees who work there are very nice. The front desk lady and Chris are awesome! I have been there where customers are screaming and yelling to the employees but the employees keep their calm and do not yell or raise their voice back. Their customer service is amazing. Also, Caton Radio is fast. Everytime I have gone there, my car was given to me earlier than told. I just wish they would put that extra time into giving me a better end result. Again, below average work and could possibly find somewhere better.Caton Radio does electronics, interior and anything else.Tintmax does car tinting.Treat them with respect and they will do the same. Come in the store thinking you own the place, you’ll be disappointed.
Just had Caton Audio install a a Bluetooth system I bought and attempted to install myself but had to bail out once I saw the mess of bundled wire harnesses and the lack of even an universal FM antenna connection I could tap..John was a true gentleman, incredibly articulate and knowledgeable he made the process easy and enjoyable..I cold called to see if they could do the job and John told me if I made it there in 90 minutes they could do it right away so I packed up and they had it done a couple hours later..He even showed me how to use and navigate the system and the two buttons that are visible look like they are factory installed genuine Volvo parts!!!I am over the moon with the service and the iSimple system which ironically they use and install themselves!To back up, I took this route to avoid the $2000... $1000unit and $1000 for Volvo to program it to the car...We love the car but a 2004 Volvo S60R which has the premium factory sound system w a 200watt amp under the driver seat can be a real pain when replacing repairing certain things...But again Caton Radio made it not only easy but enjoyable as well!!!

I have had work done on at least four of my vehicles over the last decade. Customers who complain about not getting through on the phone or through the companys website need to adjust their expectations. I dont expect to be able to walk out of Five Guys with a burger in three minutes, but its the best burger in town. Caton Radio is the Five Guys of car audio and electronics. I give them my car and/or equipment, let them take their time, and it always comes out right. I know enough about cars to know that sometimes quirks need to be worked out, its the nature of the business. Caton Radio always stands by their products and installations. Treat them like family and theyll look out for you. Go in with an entitled attitude, and expect to be treated similarly. This is an old school business similar to a gruff business in Philly. People are too sensitive and want want plain vanilla cookie cutter experiences. Toughen up, people. Grow up.

I called before I went in to make sure they could do what I wanted which was to install my new car radio (which I didnt buy from them). I went in less than an hour after I called and they had taken my car back and installed my stereo within 2 hours. Sure the time was a little long but all of their employees are very friendly and knowledgeable and I had a very pleasant experience overall and will definitely be a returning customer to get my windows tinted and other things done to my car.

Summary: I would never go back for anything, and I would recommend you avoid at all costs. They are completely inconsistent in pricing, communication, and documentation. Interior car work is inherently a shady business, though. I should have just done everything myself using YouTube tutorials.Details:My tape player was broken, so I took it in hoping they could fix it. Yes, they pulled the radio at a charge of 130 - 30 being the removal fee and 100 being store credit. They did NOT make it sufficiently clear that the 100 was non-refundable, non-transferable, cant-even-resell-as-a-gift-card store credit before they began work. After diagnosing my radio, they tried to up-sell me to expensive aftermarket products to get me to spend more.I decided to use the store credit for labor costs to re-install a new radio and sub-woofer that I would buy on eBay. I called three times to get quotes for these different installations. Each time I spoke to a different person, and each time I got wildly different rates. Let me reinforce this point - people at the same business were quoting price differences of 112 vs 30 dollars and 75 vs 0 dollars for the exact same job. Those were some actual prices they quoted me. At this point I was beyond frustrated, so once all of the parts I purchased on eBay came in, I called again to let them know I was coming in. I was able to haggle with them back to reasonable prices for the work, but was left with a remainder of store credit that I had no use for.I rated two stars instead of one because instead of wasting the remainder of my store credit, they were able to do a simple hand wash and vacuum. They also amazingly did install everything correctly, although with the large number of confusing papers I was forced to sign, I would never return in a million years.

Caton Radio improperly installed an amplifier causing damage to my vehicles computer! My vehicle was undriveable and Caton Radio was unwilling to fix the problem even though it was under their warranty! Warranty??? Yes I had a lifetime warranty which this company did not follow! They did not stand by any of their work! Long story short I had to fix my self costing upwards of $1500 just to get my car on the road again! Please do not patronize this company!!! They are a fraud and everyone working for them should be ashamed!
Sabrina, runs the show, with an innovative spirit and she always gets the show moving in the right direction.EG, is a skilled technician who worked relentlessly learning new avenues to master installing a Blackvue 900s 2 channel dash cam in well equipped X5. DO NOT SHOP HERE!Good sincere technicians and desk staff, extremely poor owners and managers. Still pissed off after spending every afternoon for a week there and basically being thrown out of the shop and told that we dont want your business, go somewhere else. Me, well then how about either fixing what I paid you to do or give me a refund on what you did not do. Owner, no. Me, but something is not right, Owner, you are saying we are lying? I dont want your business. Me, well then, just either look at what is not working, or refund for what I was charged to fix it. Owner, go away. This after spending 2+ hours each day this week trying to get them to do what I asked them to do. Got very pissed off, went home and fixed it myself. I will bad mouth them every chance I get and want my money back (just for the work that was not none correctly that they refused to look at. I have no problem paying for the work that they did correctly that I asked for.) Not a lot of $$, but I could never treat a customer like that. Just to be told that there is something else wrong, you need a complete rewire We did everything right, you must have broken it etc....DO NOT SHOP HERE!
Had my windows tinted here and had a very good experience. They were professional, ontime, and did a great job. Three + years later and the tint looks great.

Went to their website to get information on having a GM dash cluster repaired. Filled out the Contact Us information and submitted it. Received no response from them. Called a couple of days later and spoke to a guy there and he said that the guy who fixes the dash clusters (Carlos or Cesar) had left for the day. He took my contact information over the phone and said he would have him call me the next day. About a week has gone by now and no one has called me. Guess what Caton Radio, I sent my dash cluster out to someone who actually responds to their customers. If owners wonder why their businesses fail, heres one reason........
Caton Radio is a hidden Catonsville jewel. They do customer service in a way not easily matched anywhere else. Sabrina at customer service desk goes extra mile to assist customers. The owner - John should be proud of his staff : When I need anything - install radio in my car or fix television - I am sure that I will get excellent service. When installing radio in my car the technician devoted his time to explain how it should work. hen my tv broke - Sabrina did everything to get it fixed. Anyone with radio or tv repair needs should go to Caton Radio

Too bad there is not a -5☆ rating available. Went in at 12:30 for a tint job.. @5:00 PM I discovered that they had not touched my car. We were initially told that wait time would be 2hrs. However, we found out that half the staff was a no show. So instead of letting the customer know that the wait time would be longer, they insisted on lying about the status of the job. At 2:30 we were told that they cut the tent and the wait would be 20 min. At 430 we were told that the windows were being cleaned. At 4:45 we discovered that the car had not been touched and was still parked outside. In addition, the attitude of staff was nonapologetic. WILL NOT GO THERE AGAIN!..... ok now a couple years later they say they do not do tint...they used to and you can find that feature online... Im sure many people can attest to that. Im done. Still not going there ever again.
I had a person called Jeff, he did a really good job at troubleshooting a radio that I installed on my Honda Accord 2007. He fix minor things I did not ask him to do.

I would not allow this business to touch anything belonging to me, Hucksters would be kind, incompetent crooks would be better. Especially when someone who connects wire for a living, tries to pretend hes a rocket scientist, and wants to charge as if its true. Quoting that it would take at least two hour just to get my radio out, @ $80.00 an hour, made me think I was talking to a major idiot, and a crook, That would be the starting price to install a plug and play device, that I knew more about than he did, seeing that this business had nothing to offer, obviously nothing remotely near integrity, I left
Left a 5 star review 2 months ago which is now being changed to 1 star because they dont have a no star option. THEY STOLE FROM ME!!!! I bought and have a receipt for a kicker ck4 wiring kit ($150) which after leaving the shop i realized the tech did not install i came and left with the same crap i brought to get removed and replaced not my nice hyperflex wire from kicker. Not only did they not put my new wire in they cut off my connectors for my amp power ground and remote turn on and put bare wire back in which is how i found out because it ripped out immediately! DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE! when i called to express my concerns the manager told me not to bring my car back no refund for the $100 hr labor to install something that never got installed and no refund of my $150 wiring kit that was stolen!
Had a horrible experience at this location. Took my sons car in to have his windows tinted. Returned to find a huge scratch down one side. No proof that it was their fault, obviously, but upon bringing it to their attention, Chris the manager was incredibly rude and unprofessional! He refused to allow me to watch the video survailance footage a cause he didnt have time, and he became quite hostile! Horrible customer service! I wouldnt trust this establishment with my vehicle if I were you!!!

I took my Volkswagen to the Catonsville, MD location to have an automatic remote start installed. I was assured that the remote start that they were installing would be compatible with my 2012 Volkswagen CC. Well the process took longer than their normal install time. When I picked my car up that evening it worked fine. The next evening (Sunday) my car completely shut off/down while I was driving. I drifted off to the side of the road and had to call for a tow which cost me money because I was outside of the covered tow miles. Because this happened on a Sunday I had to wait until the next business day (Monday) to contact Caton Radio. Once I contacted them on Monday according to Chris, who stated he was the manager, told me that the issue couldnt have been their installation so it must be something wrong with my car. I explained that my car worked completely fine before this installation so someone needs to look at it. Chris came out to my house and looked at it, wiped and sprayed under my hood. He kept insisting it must be an exhaust issue with my car. The car started and drove a few feet and then shut down again. To make a long story short, Chris looked over my car a few more times after I decided to leave at their shop for a complete inspection. After a week Chris insisted he couldnt tell what was wrong and he would suggest I take it to a dealer. Volkswagen in Owings Mills, MD inspected my car and couldnt believe the shotty installation job that Caton Radio performed. The dealership confirmed it was the fault of Caton Radio as to why my vehicles entire electrical system was destroyed. Even with the dealership on my side, Caton Radio refused to assume responsibility so I took them to court. I won my case in court a year ago and still have not received my settlement. Please be very careful in allowing this company to do any installations to your vehicle. I wish I could give them zero stars. Its amazing how they only give a response to the people who give them 4 or 5 stars.
Tintmax is the best place to get your vehicle tinted
My wife and I have been here 3 times and I have referred one friend with a problem he could not solve for ever a year.I had remote start installed on my wifes car and on my van. Both are still functional and the remotes are better than OEM. My wifes car never fails to start via remote from over 1,000 feet away. My van will start 3 out of 5 times and when it fails to start it goes into 30 second delay and then starts again. It always starts the second time. Both systems have anti theft security. The price was surprisingly reasonable.My last visit was to have a new stereo radio/cd player installed in the van. The cost was $90.00 flat. By the time I walked up to Double T and ate breakfast they were finished.

If I could rate no stars it would be done. I got a remote starter and tint done. their was a special for a remote starter 149 and tint 99. of course I bring my car in in they tell me I cant use it on my car. my car is nothing special trust me just a Honda accord. so couldnt use the specials instead I just paid 320 then 135 for tint. they call to tell me its ready here I come. then I get there and they tell me to wait 45 mins to finish the tint. I barely write reviews unless I get annoyed and frustrated. so screw the 5 star reviews because I surely did not have a 5 star experience.5/14/2013 UPDATEJust came from Caton radio because i needed my remote starter diagnosed and i brought it to them 2 days ago to fix a problem with my remote starter and the manager told me he couldnt do anything even though it s a supposedly lifetime warranty on it. Its ridiculous so i bring it today and they want to charge me $75 to rewire something because its not covered in the warranty. I paid good money for lackluster customer service not to mention the product does not work 100%. This place sucks so much man. If only i would have read the reviews before i came here i would not have such a problem. Sorry caton radio but you see my name yeah its me never again
Back in January, I went the TintMax located at the Caton Radio in Catonsville. The window of my truck were tinted well, by TintMax, but a Caton Radio employee damaged my truck while pulling it out of the garage bay. The damage was acknowledged by both TintMax and Caton Radio. They tried to repair it by, just popping the bent metal back in, but it did not work. Shortly after, I was told, Caton Radios policy is that if any damage is done to a vehicle on the Caton Radio premises, the work can only be done by Caton Radio at their discretion. Of course this obscure verbal policy was dictated to me after the damage was done. Also, the same Caton Radio employee stated, He knows a guy that can come to the shop in question and fix my truck, NOT. The owner of Tintmax requested I get some quotes from local auto body shops and submit them to both Caton Radio and Tintmax; I did and I have been getting the run-around ever since. My truck was damaged due to their negligence. All I want is my truck fixed at a professional auto body shop, period.

Pricey yes. BUT you get a guarantee with the work any problems you just bring it back and they fix it. As long as you buy the items through them. SO yes $50 buck item will get a $100 added on but its the warranty so as long as you have it you can come back and get replaced. KEEP THAT RECEIPT THOUGH!

I took my van to Caton Radio to get a bazooka installed. In turn they broke my TV and dont want to replace it or even go half. Its not the cost of the TV its the principal of the situation. I just got the TV less than a month ago and its broke. If they do it to me then they will do it to someone else. I was lied to twice by two different technicians. I would not recommend them to anyone. Find somewhere else to go.Canton Radio Part TwoI believe in giving people the benefit of the doubt but Canton Radio disappointed me once again. After a week of having my bazooka installed the bass kept going in and out. I took it back to them so they could correct the problem but instead of fixing it both Chriss informed me they were not going to touch it because they could not please me. Instead of fixing my vehicle they said to take them to court. What company advises there customer to sue them instead of fixing the problem. This is the worst service I ever had. Save yourself a headache and dont do business with them.
