Cville Imports is the model of what car repair shops should be like. Not only are they fantastic mechanics, they are honest. They will not try to get you to do maintenance that is not necessary and will tell you the most economical way to do a necessary maintenance ie: if a aftermarket part will suffice they will not try to convince you to use an OEM part. They are equally qualified to work on any car even if it is not an import. I am reluctant to take my car anywhere else to have work done on it.
They are very good auto shop they take very good care of your car let you know what you need and give you suggestions theyre very nice friendly and professional I love going to them and recommend them to anyone
Honest, kind and knowledgable mechanics/humans.
This is the place that Jamel and I go for fast, reliable and reasonably priced service.
Great mechanics! Honest, fast, and know what theyre doing!! Wish we lived close enough to have them as our personal mechanic. Got a lg stick rammed in the radiator on the interstate, they fixed it within 3 days no problem. Also the gentleman that owns the shop has the coolest collection of old old Volvos. Love this placs
Honest people doing quality work, what else can you ask for.
Awesome mechanics and very friendly folks. They also have loaners available if you have errands to run or places to be. Loaners are by appointment or availability only.
Over the years Ive been using independent repair shops in various cites. Cville imports is up there with the very best. For me the most important attributes are honesty knowledge and value...they have it all.
Absolute hands down best !!
Nice service overall. I regular go for oil change. Never had issue.
Excellent service
New to Charlottesville and needed a car inspection for both of our cars. Was referred by a coworker and I am so thankful for them sharing this place!!! The shop got both cars inspected, and I needed brake pads. All completed same day!!! Price was spot on! Thank you!!!!!
Fabulous independent repair shop. Extreme integrity, honesty, and fair pricing. I bring Subaru, Mazda, and BMW vehicles here and have a never had any problems. I especially like their flexibility if I buy the parts and then they install them, charging me only labor. Also great for State inspections.
Good service at a fair price.
Truly the best in Charlottesville. Excellent work at an honest and fair price.
Great place! They are warm-hearted. I highly recommend the garage!
C-Ville Imports was able to get my 2015 Subaru Outback into their shop quickly, and they replaced my damaged catalytic converter for hundreds of dollars less than the dealer quoted me! Everyone in the shop was very friendly, and Ill definitely bring my car back in the future.
Honest auto repair shop to take your Volvo’s and Japanese cars. They have serviced my 2013 Volvo S60 and 2006 Toyota Sequoia. Very pleased with the service I’ve received.
I have rarely had such a positive experience at any business in all of my years. They are HONEST, good people looking out for your best interests. I know my fair share about cars but I am unfamiliar when it comes to pricing/parts acquisition/labor costs etc. They advised me on what my vehicle needed and what could wait until the next service. (Prioritized me, the customer, over their profit)I was expecting to pay many times more than what they quoted me for two separate jobs. Nat, Craig and Darren got my 1997 LS400 in and out on the same day on two separate occasions for extensive maintenance! BR took his time explaining the repair process and the different types of parts available.Absolutely great service at an UNBEATABLE price. These guys are truly great. I wish them the best and will ONLY continue to bring my Lexus here as well as my friends Volvos, Hondas and Subarus. Forget the dealership! They actually care about their customers and their cars.Their shop is always busy for a good reason: they are absolutely the best shop in town. Old school, honest service. Thanks again guys.
I took my car to the local dealership for recall work and was given an extensive list of recommended service work totaling $1800. I brought my car to Cville Imports and they checked all the dealerships recommended work and told me that, apart from tires that were borderline but would pass inspection, none of the recommended work was stuff they would recommend. Ive been talking my cars to Cville Imports for many years and have always found them to be extremely honest and forthright... And I know how rare that is in the auto repair business, where the business plan generally seems to revolve around ripping people off. Highly recommended.
Ive taken cars there a few times for maintenance and diagnosing issues, and every time Ive been thoroughly impressed with their honesty and understanding. Once, I came in and thought I had a potentially serious steering problem, but they told me it actually wasnt that bad and if I could tolerate the little noises it was making, I didnt need to spend the money. That was over 2 years ago and that car is still going strong.Another time I had a pretty obvious blown transmission upon arrival. They checked it out, called several places around town trying to find me a good price on a replacement, and didnt even charge me for looking at it or keeping it for the few days it was there when I decided to get it rebuilt elsewhere instead. These guys just give outstanding service every time. Period.
I was really optimistic about this place due to their good reviews, but I had a very unfortunate experience. I took my car in to have a full check prior to going on a cross-country trip. I told them we needed to do a thorough check and make sure everything was safe and in optimal repair for the long road ahead. They said all was fine and nothing needed to be fixed. After being on the road for only a couple of days, I had a major breakdown as a result of a very worn part that hadn’t been caught previously. This worn part caused other parts to break and left me with over a grand in expenses when it should have been an easy $250 replacement. This was negligence and an oversight that ended up being very dangerous and costly.
Convenient hours, honest mechanics. Its like there is no downside.
Great mechanics, honest people. A good place to get your car repairs done.
Was recommended this shop through a Volvo specific forum- brickboard. Ive been here for routine work like AC recharges and oil changes, as well as trying to have a troublesome electrical problem diagnosed. In all cases, their prices have been reasonable, and for the electrical problem, their technician was very up front about the fact that the problem was difficult to diagnose and suggested a few simple solutions after doing some basic diagnostic on the car. Ive been very happy about the service there and the location is convenient for me.
I just got a part of the car body replaced here, and I highly recommend this place.Excellent service with a reasonable price, and people are very nice and responsible.
Very friendly but a bit pricey. Great thing is they will allow you to use a loaner car.
Ive been going to C-ville Imports for more than 15 years, with quite a number of different cars. They are reasonable, completely honest, and pleasant to deal with. I recommend BR and his crew without any reservations.
I had a 2006 XC90 with 253,000 miles on it. My parents bring their Volvo here for service so when mine acted up on a trip to C-Ville, I brought it in too. It was Friday afternoon before the July 4th holiday and BR only had a couple mechanics in. While he didnt give me good news on my car (the turbo blew), he took the time to check out my car and gave me the honest assessment I needed. I really appreciated his integrity and candor.
Great service. Great pricing.
I have taken all my Subarus to Cville for the past 20+ years and can always rely on the friendly folks there to diagnose and fix everything with the utmost professionalism. Honesty is always the best policy and they represent that perfectly!
A shout-out to the crew at Cville Imports for excellent work on my Acura at a reasonable cost, for speedy service, and a welcoming atmosphere!. I will go back. It would be even better with bagels, Nat.
An Honest Mechanic who really knows their craft is better than money in the bank. Darren at C-Ville Imports is outstanding!
This review is a response to the 2 1-star reviews based upon the lady who asked for a full inspection prior to a trip. Furthermore, its a review of another shop (also 5-stars) in town named Summers Automotive. Youll see why in a sec.1. I do not take used cars to my shop for evaluation (analogous purpose to the big pre-trip inspection.) Instead I use a good shade tree mechanic or hire an off-duty guy from my shop.2. Why? Because I go to shops that are BUSY. Ethical shops stay busy. Yore gonna be an ethical mechanic, youre gonna be a busy mechanic. Great, wheres the harm eh? Well, unethical behavior does pay better in the short term.4. ALSO busy mechanics dont have time for fullsome travels up and down the landscape of your car. Wrong guy for the job. She hired the wrong guys for the job.5. Busy mechanics are for I need this expensive thing fixed sos I can make it to work & I already have one mortgage plz help. Also for New cars are for MORONS, im getting 300k out of my Honda.6; Busy mechanics are used to being PRAISED for the GTFO speech. Meh, yer okay, GTFO. Thats Summers Automotive in a nutshell. They are the KINGS of were just gonna fix what needs fixed, charge you a reasonable price, get to work on the next guys car.I LITERALLY had to talk them into doing more work the last time I was there. Had to go out & run a little experiment to get them do what needed done. The work was legit but quite subtle, and good shops never lack for work. (Summers jumped right on board once the evidence was presented.)You proper attitude is yay! I have a place that does honest work... ALONG WITH Its my responsibility to keep on top of what work needs done.7. So should Cville have caught the mistake?Yes(1).But I understand. People mess up. Busy people doing a job they dont do often & dont have time for mess up more.Their real sin was not telling the lady this aint the place for fullsome inspections.Meanwhile I have a dodgy front suspension, & Summers doesnt work on those (or anything but Hondas btw.) Glad I have Cville Imports backing Summers up.====(1) Ill give the lady the benefit of the doubt & presume she didnt hasten the demise of her part drastically on the trip & preface to it. Possible though. Also curious to know which part. Theres is plenty you cant see without breaking down various assemblies.Never heard of pro-tire-kicker breaking down anything much to inspectHumON monkeys *have* been known to ONE STAR! rationalize away their problems on others in the past Certain presidents not named Truman spring to mind.Nobel prize for psychology, here I come!Surely I just blew your miiiiiiind.
This shop is great. I needed a bolt off a broken part, to put on a new part, to fix my truck, which was broken down more than 100 miles from home. C-ville got a torch out to get the bolt loose for me, refused to take any payment, and then offered to put the part on (the pickup was down the street) if I did not have the right tools handy. Wow. I am more used to shops here in Fairfax trying to overcharge me for things that do not even need fixing.
Ive gone to C-Ville Imports for inspections and a tire change before, but recommended them to a close friend who planned to drive across country for a move. They evaluated her Subaru Outback under the instruction to check it for anything showing any signs of damage or anything needing repair for a long trip. Despite the car having 189,000 miles on it, and a high likelihood of something being wrong with it, they cleared it and didnt mention anything was wrong.Fast forward to a week later, during her move. She broke down and needed emergency repair due to something that would have cost $200 to fix, which would have stood out and looked bad to any halfway decent mechanic. Due to the negligence of C-Ville Imports not catching the issue, it did another $800 worth of damage, costing a grand to fix on the road, during a move -- precisely the situation she scheduled an inspection to hope to avoid.Ill be taking my business elsewhere, and would advise you do the same (at least if you own a Subaru Outback). While most reviewers claim they will not rip you off, they will also apparently not tell you of anything wrong with your automobile. Personally, Id much prefer being overcharged as opposed to completely ignored.
Charged my wife $120 to test our van battery. Most parts stores do this for free. Im unsure if CVille Imports does this to all customers or only take advantage of women.
I have known BR for years and hes the salt of the earth. He may go too far sometimes trying to save customers money. For the entitled Dbag who gave a one star review because Brs shop didnt drape a security blanket over his lady friends 189000 mile Subaru: If BR or his people failed in any way it would have been in not telling the lady at least 3 times that high Mileage Subarus are not recommended for cross country drives. For driving around Charlottesville between work, your favorite coffee shop or internet cafe and diversity rallies, you cant beat them, but its grossly unfair to tag this shop with a one star when Aaron wasnt even the customer in this instance.
Work at Cville Imports is well done at a fair price.
Very respectfully timely.
