Are used to go to a comic book store when I was a kid in Lansing Michigan. Now I get to take my kids out to their comic book store and GOB is amazing. Friendly staff and amazing selection. I know for a fact my kids will remember this when they grow up.

Just recently got into comics and been looking around for trade books that cover the start of still running series and I found most of them here! Been to like 5 or 6 comic book stores looking for them. This place also sells a huge amount of board games and a room for playing games. Will be back forsure!

Great shop, has a huge variety of board games, puzzles, comics, role-playing (D&D and others) materials, Warhammer, Magic the Gathering (and other card games), a few video games, and pretty much any other form of game you can think of. Their prices are about what you would find online, and they carry both new and used stuff. The place is owned by a nice family- been coming here since they were in their old location and theyve grown a lot. Support your local shop!

Called to ask a quick question about stock, hung up on immediately after asking with no response. Havent been to this store before, and was willing to give it a shot, but not after being rudely hung up on.

I literally could spend hundreds here in one visit. Tons of great games of all kinds. Their board game variety is the best Ive seen at any game retailer. They have some expansions that I didnt even know about and thought Id have to buy online. If your into board games youll definitely want to give this place a visit. They also have a gaming room with events every week.

I was very excited to stop by what used to be my favorite game store for the first time since Covid, however that excitement quickly faded the moment I walked inside. Not only were the employees not wearing masks but they also were not requiring the customers to wear them. Needless to say, I will no longer be giving this store my business. There is absolutely no excuse for failing to mask. If you have a medical exemption then by all means find other reasonable accommodations as is your right by law but what I saw in that store today was unacceptable.

Selection is pretty good but the prices are high. Seems primarily catered to board game community. 1 star off is for the prices, and 1 star is for the employees not wearing masks. Is that even legal? I’m not about to call the cops but that’s just dumb.

Worst place in the area to purchase any accessories for your hobbies, the scale models are a 2x-3x mark-up, the employees refuse to wear masks and this is without mentioning that they shut down their play area for about maybe 9 days before reopening it to the public. I would break the character limit 4 times if I could to tell you absolutely everything wrong at this place. There are 20 other LGS to take yourself and your kids in the area within driving distance and a few in walking distance, go there instead. -6/5 including cleanliness and disinfecting of the store. -5 without.

I’ve shopped here for a little under a year now, and even though the prices are a little marked up and the service has always been standofish, I still wanted to buy from the LGS, ya know.Today I went in to pick up an online order, the guy behind the counter dropped both boxes. I asked him if I could switch them and he denied dropping the box, and made me feel like I was bothering him by asking for a non-damaged product.They’re nice people in general, but this interaction really turned me off.

I was a bit out of my element here - Im not much of a model builder or wargamer, and dont get to read comics or manga often. But nonetheless, was really impressed with this place and its collection of various nerd-ery, as well as its dedicated event space for RPGs and wargames. Would love to visit again when I have some money to spend, or maybe to watch one of their hosted events.

I was in yesterday to browse and I was really disappointed by the experience and my interactions with one of the staff working.While browsing, I came across a shelf full of trade paperbacks with two signs that read “40% off all trade paperbacks”. In the middle of the shelf (propping up several of the discounted books) was a packaged bundle of DC elseworlds annuals (from the 90s) that would’ve been a fun buy. It was marked $39.99 and I inquired with the staff about about whether this bundle qualified for the discount. The gentlemen with the ginger beard helping me at first was very kind - I have no complaints about him at all - but he asked the other guy working (maybe a manager?) if I could purchase the bundle of annuals at the discounted price. My interaction with this guy was pretty bad from a customer service standpoint. He went on and on saying something about only books with stickers were discounted (which was in no way referenced on the shelf signage nor did I see stickers on any of the trade paperbacks I picked up). He even acknowledged that this bundle of annuals should be right in the middle of the discounted shelf with the discount signage but seemed to imply “duh, that’s goes there but why would it be discounted?” It came across as rude. Especially when he wouldn’t let it go and kept explaining as if I was stupid.I totally understand if a discount cannot be given on certain items but good customer service is key in these moments and it was as if he wouldn’t let it go and was irritated I even asked about it.It’s a cool store but this guys attitude really turned me off and it will be sometime before I visit again.

An absolute amazing collection of all things need/geek related. The staff is knowledgeable and very friendly and helpful. This place makes me feel like a kid in the candy store. My only complaint is that, on some things the prices are a bit steep!

They have the largest selection of board games I have ever seen, and they have a huge space where you can game with your friends to boot. Trading card wise, they are mostly focused on Magic the Gathering. Also, for tabletop gaming they have a huge used selection, so its a good place to go to look for something obscure, though its probably best to call ahead of youre looking for something specific.

This place is a major ripoff. You are guaranteed to be overcharged for whatever you buy. New comics sold above cover price, 5 dollar fridge magnets are 12 dollars here. 6 dollars on the box, 8 dollars on the price tag. Total scammers.

Brought a small stack of books to the counter during my lunch break. Right off the bat the employee ringing me up starts mumbling something about one of the books being priced wrong which I found odd as this particular store attempts to grade books and price them accordingly causing some variation in pricing. Long story short, the kid wouldnt honor the marked price and got pretty rude about it so I told them to keep the books.The customers dont price your products. If an employee graded and marked a book as a certain price it should be honored. You guys lost a sale and an future business over a dollar and 25 cents.Couple this with the fact that as a customer Im required to wear a mask but employees are walking around unrestricted means I wont miss the place.

I bought a game there.. My first player placement game.Not thier fault but it was missing cards.However, I was told on the phone to email the owner and after two emails and weeks of waiting I called and they acknowledged that they did receive my emails.No answer... No hey sorry we didnt get back to you and no resolution.. Except that they couldnt reach the maker either.So basically I have a 40 dollar collection of pretty cards and no way to get this situation fixed unless I bite the bullet and buy the same game from Amazon for 20! Yes... Half the price I paid AFTER the GOB discount.As a side note: DO NOT go there if you are concerned about the Corona virus!!I had to distance from the unmasked employee as he was EXUBERANTLY speaking with my daughter as I pulled her away from him.These are reckless people who dont care about the well being of their customers, or providing customer service.They should have at least offered me a different game at a decent price or gave me a credit for the useless one I got. But not to worry.. I wont be back.

Was a place with a great board game selection, even some stuff currently out of print, a computer catalog to search, and a free play room! Only reason for 4 stars is the discussions of the staff got a bit loud at one point, but quieted down after and were very nice at the register!

Fantastic place to get comics and games of all kinds, and it has a decent gaming area adjacent to the sales floor.

Since GOB moved to Clawson I’ve gone out of my way to support them. My recent trip into this store I found that employees weren’t making attempts to wear masks or observe proper protocol for themselves not customers. Their game room that now opened up had patrons who came in wearing masks and then removed them once inside. I’m done with supporting this store.

Good selection, cane in 30 minutes to closing to buy/look around and was suprised pretty much none of the employees were wearing masks, yet they had plexiglass dividers at the registers.

I have only been here a handful of times because its not super close to where I live, however they have a huge selection of games, cards, comics, relics etc. If I had endless amounts of money I would easily buy out half of the merchandise. The staff I have interacted with are friendly and I would be interested in attending one of their game events one day if I ever get the opportunity too. It is one of my favorite stores even though I have only been there several times. They have a sea of board games that I would love to collect and have slowly started to collect over the last few years

Spacious accommodations for game room, really friendly staff

Huge selection of games, comic books, graphic novels. They also have Citadel and Army Painter paints and supplies. In the back they have a huge area with tables and couches to meet up with people, and they are open late so you can keep your game going. No outside food allowed in but they sell snacks and water, tea, soft drinks, etc. Great selection for all ages and I highly recommend checking it out!

Edit: They have a heavy mark-up on most things and you will pay over any MSRP for anything. This is even counting pre pandemic. For example the grimore red beret that theyve been trying to sell for $60 has an msrp of $18. In order to ensure that you are getting a fair deal even with a markup you would need to go and look it up on your phone and find the MSRP for yourself.Edit 2: After finding out that they have acquired even more bandai products I urge you to literally go anywhere else, the scalping here is insane with some prices being nearly 3-4x their normal market value even during the shortage of models.

GOB Retail is great. New games, used games, cards, comics, they have everything. The staff are friendly, helpful and knowedgable. Plus cool events during more normal times.A great place to find games to play with friends and family.

I absolutely love this place! Amazing selection and a must for any board game collector or casual player! My only complaint is that the loyalty/reward program is extremely weak and does not influence my purchasing in any way at all.

I have thoroughly enjoyed every visit here and have found something I didnt know I needed each time. The staff is very friendly and theres no shortage of selection, especially with the games and comic books. My only complaint is that I cant figure out how the games are organized. It looks like theres a system to it and the staff probably understands it but I cant figure it out. Maybe its intentionally a puzzle to fit the theme of the store? Overall though, excellent store.

The board game selection is great. Comic book selection seemed good. Video game selection was not good, many items in the store were sunbleached. Employees were not wearing masks and complaining about having to wear them.

Everyone says support your local games store. Well I tried, but after covid-19 started I have been here a couple of times, and every time at least half the staff was not wearing masks or any other form of face covering. I wonder what they would do if I went in there coughing and sneezing. They have a wonderful selection and I would be excited to purchase from them otherwise. Too bad that the place is run by someone that does not understand concepts of community and mutual respect. Shame on you for driving people away from the wonderful world that is board games, RPG, comics, and so much more. I will look for other stores in the area.

Only been here twice because I live out of state but, everytime I come here, I make a point to come here. The have an amazing selection of so many different things. Love it.

Some employees are unmasked. And it doesnt seem like they enforce mask use on customers, given how one went by me without one at all in the narrow entrance area.

Very disappointing experience. I went in to buy a graphic novel, I love Star Wars comics and was excited to read one. I picked up a graphic novel that was priced at $15.99 with one of their stickers. I was really excited to read this graphic novel and I even signed up to be a part of their rewards program. When they went through with transaction they told me it $40.00 something and I said it’s clearly priced at $15.99. After making me wait for another 5 minutes they said it’s possible someone priced it incorrectly or that somebody ticket switched it, which felt like I was being accused. They then informed me that their was nothing they could do for me. Pretty disappointed in this visit. Doesn’t feel like a friendly atmosphere.

GOB(guild of blades) is overall a great store/hub for any kind of table top gaming for or comic book fan or even retro gaming fans. There is so much in this store that one could spend an hour or so just browsing the entire store. Some of the prices for table top gaming stuff can be high and it would be nice if they did price matching. Also an updated website would be amazing! But for the little that could be improved theres much more that is great. They have a large gaming room that is free to use. Loads of games to try if people want to test a game before you buy it. Plus its just nice to support a local business. All the guys that Ive encountered that work here are friendly and knowledgeable. Definitely check this place out if you havent yet.

Sales staff are knowledgeable and passionate about games! Top notch games are not cheap these days. Its important to make an informed choice, so you dont end up with games on your shelf you dont like. One nice feature: they have a section of previously owned games for sale. Their sticker assures you all the pieces are there and they rate the degree of used. If you dont already have periodic game nights with friends, this place will help you get started!

Great place to go for old console games, comics, or board games. Felt nostalgic in the console game section - plenty of old Nintendo (and even Atari) games. Tons of table top board games. The comics selection is pretty solid as well. Staff was very helpful. Good experience overall.

Great selection of miniature games and figures from legion to D&D with a hammering amount of 40K. If your looking for a board game either to go back to your childhood or something new for family game night they have it. Plus if your interested in retro video games or CCG (like magic or starwars) this is the place.

I had a friend come out of town this past weekend who is very into board games/MTG and things like that so I decided to find hobby shops to go to while he was in town. I found GOB Retail through a Facebook search and it seemed like an interesting place so we all decided to check it out. They have a huge selection of board games and Magic related things as well as comics galore. There are pros and cons to GOB, with my biggest con being that the employees do not wear masks at all. For the most part they are sitting behind the counter with a small plexiglass barrier, but when they come from out behind the counter they dont wear masks either. The guys who work there are pretty nice, I wasnt a fan of the guy who checked me out, but the worker (named Ben I believe) who checked out my boyfriend was really nice. I think its a little irresponsible having their game room open now, when COVID cases in Michigan are steadily rising, but its their prerogative. One other thing I found interesting is that many of their items are priced above retail, so be on the look out for that.

I didn’t know they had tables for open board game playing and that’s cool! They have A LOT of board games, even some used options. The big con is they are super expensive. The “cheap” games were about $30 on average.
