Decided to try this restaurant because it was close by and the patio was dog friendly. I was not disappointed. The service was great and very friendly. As for the food it was unbelievably delicious. Had the beef stew with mash potatoes in it. It was plate licking good. For dessert had the rhubarb crumble cheese cake. It was absolutely delicious. All I can say is You have got to eat here.
I’d been here a few times before they moved locations — the food is still delicious and I love the streamlined menu options! Last night I had the mini GF fish and chips, my friends had the mini GF Mac & cheese, we each got a slice for dessert, and she got a beer! Our bill came to $35 — the prices are reasonable too!The inside of the restaurant is very cool and they offer men’s/women’s handicap accessible restrooms. There is a beautiful but small) outdoor area and the new area where they are located is quiet and peaceful. 5 star experience all around 💫
First visit since the move from old location. Music, English eats, and new decor. You walk in with the new decor the bar is great and beautiful the lighting is a bit dark throughout the core of the restaurant. We love the new London clock tower and large English jack on the entry to kitchen door. The outdoor seating is sparse, but will be great in the spring and fall weather. We had the scotch eggs, not to my preferred cooking temp, the egg was hard instead of runny, for our appetizer. We then had, the new bacon banger balls which came with a bacon brown sauce and a silky smooth mash. Wife felt the meatballs were a tad strong on seasoning. I had the steak and Ale pie, it seemed like the same mix as the stew with a puff pastry that was a tad on the smaller size. For dessert we had the sticky toffee bread pudding. Thinking this would be served warm it was still sweet and tasty but served at a cold temp. The service was great and the staff friendly. The owner is an old school English soccer player with an interest in gluten free dishes. He his wife and his son run a great establishment. We wish them great success after their restaurant impossible show airs in August. We were sad they moved to Colleyville but we will always be back.
Have been wanting to try Across the Pond for over 5 years and finally had the chance today. Sat on the patio because the weather, and saw one of the coolest things. A mama squirrel ran back and forth from the tree above us to another across the way, 5 times, carrying a baby each time. Also, the food was amazing. They had the best fish n chips Ive had yet and the bubble and squeak was so good, not to mention the dutch egg and their specialty drinks. The service was also outstanding. Sorry I didnt get pics of the food.
Delicious food and lovely atmosphere! We brought the family out for a nice lunch on the patio today. The gated patio was perfect for keeping the kids safe. We had burgers and fish and chips there and a Shepherd’s pie to-go. Jamie, our waitress, was great! This was our first time checking out the new location, and as someone with a gluten allergy, I’m so thankful they are still in business.
Husband got the breakfast burger and I got the fish and chips.Burger had 2, obviously from frozen, patties and a chewy top bun. The egg was cooked well and it had a decent flavor. My fish was very disappointing. The fish was rubbery and the batter was raw on the inside. Also, the fish was very bland. Tatar and chips were good. Fish and chips is one of my favorite dishes and I get it at a lot of places and this was close to the worse I have had.Maybe they had an off night, but we dont plan on going back anytime soon.
We were very excited to try this gluten-free restaurant! Apparently this place was recently featured on a Food Network television show so they have increased in customer traffic and do not have the staffing to take care of the increase in customers. We waited quite a while to be greeted and just shy of forever for our food. That said- we both ordered the Sunday only roast w vegetables and Yorkshire pudding. The meat was tough and needed a knife to cut but was surprisingly tasty and the potatoes were great. Portion sizes are large, hardly anyone was finishing their food- they could save some money by shrinking the portion size a bit and no one would complain. They specialize in fish and chips, several people ordered this and we wish that we had as well. It looked delicious and the portion was giant. Couple of things- 1. this restaurant was so cold we saw people putting on sweaters and moving their tables away from the vent to escape cold air- another way to cut cost, raise the temperature two or 3° and your customers will still be comfortable. It is likely the temperature is set to the comfort level of your kitchen staff and not your customer. 2. We observed a female bringing food out of the kitchen and she was wearing open toe slides. This grossed us out as we know this is not approved health code for a restaurant. 3. They had gluten free bread pudding as a dessert and we really wanted to try it, we ordered it and literally waited 20 minutes- it’s apparent no one is managing this kitchen properly- dessert should have been out in 5.. we never intended to spend so much of our afternoon here. I would come back to try the fish and chips but definitely not on a weekend and I need a little time to forget some things about this experience.. they’re trying but some effort needs to be re routed. Also- the female bartender was just super loud.. talking really loud to people causing our experience to be less than enjoyable.. she could tone that down a bit.
The food is great and the staff is friendly. We have traveled travelled from Dallas and Ft. Worth to eat here many times. Every time, we leave happy thanks to the yummy food. Their gluten-free food is great and safe for people who are gluten intolerant.
The menu had changed one of our favorite options was a casualty. The owner asked how we had enjoyed our meals we gave him honest feedback. He was open about the reason for the changes while making us feel our opinions mattered to him. Old fashioned values of honesty, authentic communication and customer focus. We will be going back! Fried onion rings or not!!
Being new to the Celiac world its been hard to find places for our son to eat at. After some research we came across From Across the Pond. OMG! We ALL loved it. We ordered it online for order pick up and it was so easy and fast. They arent kidding when they say that they have the biggest, most diverse, GLUTEN-FREE menu in Texas & if I may add to that ...menu WITH FLAVOR.... They truly understand Celiac Disease 🥰 and anyone with taste buds. We will definitely be returning!
5 is not enough stars for the fish and chips and sticky toffee pudding! I have celiac and everything on the menu is gluten free!! My husband does not need to eat GF and said the fish and chips was just as good as when he lived in Scotland! The owners and staff are super friendly and very accommodating, service was really quick. Experience was absolutely fabulous and well worth the drive from across the metroplex (East Dallas!)From Across the Pond is a must try, once you go - you will be hooked like us!
Oh my gosh! Sooo yummy! I had the beef and ale stew and then the sticky toffee bread pudding. It was very filling.
We went there for dinner and everything was great. We tried the Scottish Egg and although I thought it was a bit pricey it was good. We ordered the Triple Burger and the Shepherds Pie and we were not disappointed. We decided to splurge and got the Bread Pudding. It was amazing. You have got to go there.
Came in for lunch today the was 1 other table.we self seated our selves. The front of the house staff were more concerned with their phone and music playing on the play list. The witness was kind and efficient took our order the scotch egg and rarebit chips in my opinion took far too long to arrive for an appetizers. The fish n chips were good. The bread pudding average. Overall 3.5 experience
Amazing atmosphere! Our server was friendly, smiled and had a great sense of humor. She kept our drinks flowing and made excellent menu suggestions. The fish and chips are very authentic British and DELICIOUS.Our party of 4 each had a different menu item and no one was disappointed.
We haven’t been here yet but after watching the remodel on Restaurant Impossible, we’re looking forward to visiting one day! We love the Big Ben replica, and especially those darling telephone booth tea lights on the tables. The new menu items look scrumptious! Good luck to you with your new restaurant!
Really tasty fresh gluten-free fish and chips (with real potatoes)!!!The excellent service, along with the efficient kitchen brought our hot food to our table quickly. The only disappointment was that the sticky toffee pudding was more like dry bread pudding. Although the flavor and sauce were really nuanced, it just wasnt sticky enough for me.I look forward to going back soon!
New venue and New Decor. Small intimate setting that is comfortable and not overwhelming. Fish and Chips are still spot on!!! Large portions, great prices and the staff couldnt be more accommodating! Many gluten free options that are just as wonderful as the real thing. Beer on tap and several wines, bottles available. Service was fast and food was piping hot!!! Again, the venue is small, but so very worth it. They do take reservations and as they are still playing with the hours just call and they will let you know if the hours of operation have changed. Never disappointed and happy that this Brit has made North Texas their home!
We went tonight and were so pleased. The atmosphere was so nice and friendly. Our server, Makayla, was awesome. My husband loved the Fish and Chips. I had never had Bubbles and Squeak—-WOW. Loved it. We will definitely come back and bring my grandson that has to be Gluten Free.
I would like to extend my gratitude to From Across the Pond. Being gluten free due to Celiac its not easy finding a restaurant to eat. Everything we tried was delicious. Thank you again
We just tried the new location with all the updates. The decor is nice, great job especially for such a small space. The food was fabulous. We had the Scotch Eggs. Piccadilly Salad, Fish & Chips, and Banger Meatballs. The Scotch Eggs were perfect thinner layer of sausage than Ive had before, but crispy on the outside, not greasy and the egg was so pretty. The Piccadilly Salad was actually my favorite thing and will be my go to from now on. Lots of crisp pickled veggies (green bean, red onions, cauliflower, and beets), zucchini, lettuce and a boiled egg. The mustard vinegarette with a perfect touch of curry and really set it off.The Fish & Chips. the fish was fresh mild as it should be, the batter was crisp and not greasy. The Chips were spot on and the peas were peas. The Banger Meatballs were interesting over the boursin mash. Good combo.Service was sweet and the owner checked in with every table.Everything on the menu is gluten free. Were not gluten free. Youre not going to miss the gluten!Overall great experience.Trust me a the Piccadilly Salad. It is super good. The pickles is mild not overpowering, and the dressing is delicious.
Absolutely amazing! Brilliant British food. Gluten free.. amazing staff! Thank you Lee and Jodi. Beautiful place.
Better than expected! Gluten could stand with standard dishes. Would definitely come back for everything
So our Saturday included a trip to our favorite Fish & Chips place in Colleyville--- HOWEVER-- upon arriving we decided to try a Hamburger instead -- we were NOT DISAPPOINTED!! You guys-- TRY the burgers!! Worth the trip ! Save us a table, well be BACK!!FROM ACROSS THE POND ❤
Had fish and chips and steak and ale pie. The fish and chips were good. The only defining point of the pie was a piece of puff pastry thrown on top. Its a little water but tastes good. The new location is an improvement over the old. Its a much smaller venue. The hours are unpredictable while they find their fitting. If Google said theyre closed go ahead and give them a ring to make sure.
I thought this place would be better, but it wasnt. Scotched eggs were good. The chicken tiki barely had any chicken and the shepherds pie was not the best.
I heard about this little place through my work. Since Im a fan of Dr. Who, most things British and it wasnt to far from the British Emporium, my BF and I knew we had to check them out. We were not disappointed! The food was great, pricing was reasonable and the portions are not small! They have a full size replica of the TARDIS in the middle of the restaurant. It is owned by the family that owns Abbey Road in Plano also. We both had the Shepards Pie, Yorkshire puddings and my daughter had the kids Mac and Cheese.
Great food and service. The fish & chips were fabulous. The fish was cooked perfectly. And the Shepards Pie was very flavorful and the meat was very tender.
Fish & Chips were real deal. Just like in the UK. REAL English Beer. Excellent service. Will be back.
Not bad, but not authentic. Chips shouldnt come with a Full English Breakfast. Full English breakfast should be sausage, bacon, eggs (fried or scrambled), hash browns, baked beans, cooked tomatoes, mushrooms, black pudding and fried bread. They havent even heard of English breakfast tea. That said, the service is prompt and friendly, and the food isnt bad. With a little work, this could really be something great. But as it is, it just doesnt quite scratch the itch if youre missing the taste of an English meal.
Although The Burger was good, what we really wanted was The Gluten free sticky toffee bread pudding. Which they didnt have. But they do have an interesting atmosphere
Lots of gluten free choices! New menu still has old faves, but some new tasty updates. Cant wait to see them on Restaurant Impossible Lee and Jodie are great people
True Cod fish n chips, best British batter and massive fillets! Strong crisp batter with JUICY flaky fish inside. Just impossible! Scotch eggs (Texas sausage) as good as Borough market. If youre missing a bit of UK flavor, come relieve your homesickness....The people calling the fish disgustingly greasy must like their fish DRY. Thats the juice thats kept inside when you have the Perfect batter. This aint Long Johns Silvers or Red Lobster.
What a fantastic place. I’ve always enjoyed my visits and not just for the food. The family that owns and operates are wonderful people. Keep up the great work!
Fish and chips great, wait staff 5 stars. Half my family is GF, there entire menu is available GF. Fantastic. Little bit of a drive from Frisco but will be back!!!
We had 2 entres, the Sunday dinner was overly salty! Pretty much the whole meal was over salted and cold! Keep in mind we got there like 30 minutes after doors opened no reason what so ever for cold food ever. Fish and chips is mediocre nothing special about it and very bland no seasoning at all the chips were good, we couldnt order desert because 30 minutes after opening they were already out! Go figure. We were expecting a lot more from this restaurant after the revamp but its still the same as it was before and for the prices you would be better off at Captain Ds! Sad to say the best part of our meal was the coffee that never got refilled.
Wow! What a GREAT place...Dinner was not just across the pond but out of this world!Amazing fish & chips - flaky, tender fish and crispy, fresh fries that will make your mouth water!Shepherds Pie is so deeply packed with mildly sweet and savory flavors from the cheesy topped mashed potatoes down the deliocious meaty base...the serving is more than any one person should eat.And then there was Jaegerschnitzel topped with a dark thick & creamy mushroom suace...words cannot do it justice! We also had the Bangers & Mash...savory sausage sitting on top of hearty but velvety smooth melt in your mouth mashed potatoes.Do yourself a treat and get yourself Across the Pond!
My friend recommended that I try the fish and chips, and I am never going anywhere else! The beer batter is crisp and flavorful, and the staff is so cheerful and welcoming. I went back and tried the Scottish eggs, bubble and squeak bites, the sticky toffee pudding, and the bread pudding. The bubble and squeak bites are like potato cakes and so far are my favorite appetizer. If you have a sweet tooth, the toffee pudding is the best thing on the desserts menu. The atmosphere is relaxed, the bartenders are on top of orders, and the owner is super chill, too. This is definitely going to be one of my regular restaurants from now on.
We came here for the Shepards pie, and we werent disappointed! Very flavorful and filling. Can easily feed two people. Our waiter Avery was attentive and knowledgeable, who also recommended the Scotch Egg, which was delicious. The London Mule was a nice drink too. 5 stars, because of the Doctor Who Tardis and the Whovian drink! Well definitely come back to try other dishes on the menu.
Gluten-free fish and chips were amazing! Have apple crumble in a bag to go and cant wait to dig in when I get home. Thank you for all the delicious options that I can actually eat!!!
Great British food! The onion rings were some of the best Ive ever had. The traditional Sunday roast was amazing! Made me feel like I was back visiting a pub in London!
Sunday Roast Dinner was fantastic! Sticky Toffee Bread Pudding YUM! Just like any pub in England 🇬🇧 the food is worth the trip!
Amazing staff, delicious food, and such a great space! My friends, family, and i celebrated our engagement brunch here and everything was just perfect!
We have visited twice. And both times the food was really good. On the latest visit I ordered the Scotch eggs. And they were more than just good. They were pretty incredible actually. The service, on the other hand, is very slow. It was slow on both visits. During the latest visit we ordered 2 glasses of water when we arrived. They brought the water 2 minutes before they brought our check, after we had finished eating. If only the service were better this would be a 5 star review. If service isnt at the too of you list for a good place to eat, then by all means head to Across The Pond. The food will be worth it to you!
Great food and atmosphere. Friendly staff.
Freaking Fantastic! The Daughters of the British Empire local chapter Lady Godiva held our monthly meeting at From Across the Pond. This has been the first restaurant in the last 7 years, since I was diagnosed with celiac, that there were more than a few items on the menu. Most restaurants offer one or two dishes. The whole menu is practically gluten free. I was like a kid in a candy store. The mouthwatering fish and chips were crunchy on the outside and flakey in the middle just like the original in London. You never known my onion rings were GF. If you have any gluten issues, celiac, gluten allergy or sensitivity, this is the place for you. There is also a second location in Plano and Ill be trying it out next. If you would like to become a member of the DBE, find us on Facebook at Daughters of the British Empire, Lady Godiva, Dallas Texas Chapter. Wed love for you to join us.
Just visiting the area fish was cooked perfect was just no seasoning on anything
Great food from a land far away. Most of it gluten free. Excellent time for all
I went to Across the Pond last night and will never ever return. There was only one other person in the restaurant when I went in. My appetizer scotch eggs had raw sausage and took way to long to come out. I saw the waitress 2 times. I asked her for hot sauce and she never got back to me. I was about to walk out of the restaurant and leave my phone number on the table so that they could call me for my card info. I finally asked to speak to the manager who wasn’t much help either. The restaurant smells like old grease so my mistake for even sitting down. In my opinion, keep driving!
Im always looking for authentic food from home, and this place delivered! I had the bangers & mash, and my hubby had the fish & chips. They were both delicious. Oh, and the tea was actually served HOT - none of this american like warm tea nonesense! The decor was filled with Union Jacks, telephone boxes and other British regalia. The actual vibe isnt what I would call authentic British though - but what is? I think that type of opinion is totally subjective and doesnt at all take away from the food or service - both of which were fabulous. My ONLY critique is that the gravy wasnt very thick - ultimately would have been impressed if it was real Bisto gravy, but would have settled for something other than broth. We will definitely be back - especially after seeing full English breakfast listed on the menu with REAL BACON!!
UPDATEWe were so excited to try the new location in Colleyville...WORSE dining experience ever!!! Only 2 other tables and took 40 minutes for app of onion rings that were cold and still raw inside and undercooked breading on the outside ( NO SEASONING) an order of scotch eggs that the pork was still raw and the egg inside was overcooked and dry.....another half hour we recieved entrees ....tea spilled in the plate, I quickly tried scooping fish up....she didnt offer another plate....it was AWEFUL!!! All 3 entrees were not edible......voiced my opinion and server just laughed....terribly expensive and dissapointed DONT waste your money...85.00 for lunch and would of had a better meal and service at Taco Casa!!!
Atmosphere is great and the food was delicious! The employees were great too
Came in at 5pm to an empty restaurant and ordered 3 plates of fish and chips. We waited and waited as uber eats orders were picked up time and time again. Our waitress didnt update us or even check up on us. 30 minutes later other tables started filling up and last straw was 45 minutes after we were seated other tables were getting their appetizers/food. We got up and left. The owner came out to my truck and said are you guys leaving? I explained why we were and she didnt apologize or anything. She just said that our food was finally ready and if we didnt come back in we should know that we are hurting a local small business. I am a business owner myself and I would never come out to a disgruntled customer and try to guilt them into coming back in and not even acknowledge their issues. I left with a very hungry toddler in tow and frustrated about the lack of customer service.
Fish and chips is phenomenal as are the Scotch eggs (I personally preferred the maple most while my dad liked the spice of the chorizo). Staff was great, ambiance is comfortable, and mushy peas and slaw were delish. I enjoyed it so much that I forgot to take pics of all our food! Plate of 3 tacos was great if youre super indecisive and want to try a little of a couple flavors.
Though this restaurant has changed locations several times, we manage to track them down! ;) Rather than following breadcrumbs to find them, it is the memory of good food that spurs us on. I discovered their newest location and was rewarded with their very tasty Shepherd’s Pie. (Note: It would technically be called Cottage Pie in the UK, according to an English friend, because it is made with ground beef instead of lamb, which is the chief ingredient of Shepherd’s Pie.)No matter what they call it, you will enjoy it!
The food and service were both fantastic!
Great service, several good English beers. Fish and chips really plain. This should be the flagship on the menu.
Always friendly service..the food is quite delicious. I highly recommend the Guinness beef stew..its so good..the bangers and mash, shepard pie, bubble and squeak are really all my faves. Its hard to choose..wonderful family restaurant.Just visited the new location. New menu items are great! The restaurant has a nice comfortable feel..decorations are great..Dr. Who fans can even get a glimpse of the tardis. The owner is extremely friendly, and makes sure you have a wonderful experience. If you need gluten free, this place does great gluten free items.
Food was fantastic and the staff were super sweet and attentive. Will definitely be back.
Friendly staff and owners! Excellent food!
My wife and I recently tried “Across the Pond” for the first time. It’s actually over an hour away from our house. But we are lovers of British and European cuisine. So we looked at the reviews and decided to give it a try. We have been to England, Ireland, & Wales. So we are familiar with authentic British and UK food.We decided to start off with the Scotch Egg. It took a little while to get it. The eggs themselves (appearance wise) looked really good. But we were instantly turned off by the “jalapeño” ranch that accompanied it. By looking at it, it appeared to be bottled ranch. So we tasted it and sure enough, it was. A homemade ranch would have been a million times better. So I go in for the taste. Cutting into it the egg and sausage was cooked to perfection. Time for the taste, the sausage tasted like breakfast sausage. I.e. Jimmy Dean’s style sausage. Not what I was expecting at all. It was a real turn off. I ate it because I ordered it.For the entree my wife ordered the Tika Masala and I ordered the bangers and mash. As I have said we have been to the UK and my wife has been to India several times. So I believe we are a little more versed to what the food should taste like than the average person who hasn’t. The “Tika masala” very tomatoey, slightly remnant of tomato soup. The chicken was very dry, almost indelible. The Tika sauce tasted like it didn’t have any spices in it at all. Very bland. Wife said she’s had better “Indian food” on the plane. We took it to go, as wife would not eat it.As I said, my order was the Bangers and Mash. It wasn’t half bad. The only negative thing I would say about it would be the bangers were cold in comparison of the mash. You couldn’t eat the bangers by themselves. You had to add the mash to get a suitable temperature. So for dessert, we ordered the Sticky Toffee Pudding. Now I can say this. I have had authentic sticky toffee pudding. While this was ok, it was not at all what I expected. “Sticky toffee pudding” tasted like hot gingerbread. Also, the cook must have put it in the microwave too long. Extremely too hot. Ate it because I ordered it and it wouldnt have make our over an hour drive home.Seems like a “British” restaurant for people who have never been. Food sub par and not like I’ve had in London and Wales at all.Really disappointed. Really wanted to like this place. Maybe the cook was having an off night. Who knows.
Wonderful food great gluten free options.
I took a group of colleagues here while we were on a training in DFW. One had lived in the UK for 2.5 years, another for 10. They were both sold on the authenticity of the presentation and preparation of the food. Two of our group have gluten issues; this menu was very friendly towards them.Possibly the best onion rings Ive eaten (battered like the fried fish). Scotch eggs were only OK (served cut, rather than cut at table). Fish and Chips enjoyed. Shepherds Pie looked good. My friends salmon was pretty, but overcooked. The highlight was the Cinnamon Rasin Bread Pudding with a lovely vanilla custard. The pudding reminded me of my great grandmothers recipe - not cloyingly sweet.Wed come again.
Always great service and amazing food
Really really wanted to love this place. The Scotch Eggs were great but everything after that was mediocre. My friends stew was over peppered, fish and chips was good but made my daughter sick that night (in all fairness the other 2 in our party that had fish and chips did NOT get sick.) My Cornish Pastry crust was good but the innards were bland and scant.Except the toffee pudding. That was very tasty. I will go back and try other dishes because I can see theyre struggling after a key members death.Stuff upper lip and soldier on!
We heard great reviews about this place from a celiac group on Facebook. Unfortunately this place is absolutely disgusting.1. Fish was like rubber! Completely over cooked to where I couldnt even break it apart. (My husband felt sick after trying a few pieces)2. Onion rings soggy3.fries bland and soggy4. Waitress was asked if tartar sauce was dairy free and she said yes because eggs are dairy...... so the waitress obviously isnt food knowledgeable. The mushy peas tasted nice though.I drove an hour to try this place and am completely disappointed. Place was empty and they acted like the were swamped. :( I will say thank you to the owner for having a celiac friendly restaurant. But you need to fix your staff and food cook.
We LOVE this place! Can’t believe all the gluten free stuff and cross contamination safe. Even if you don’t have allergies the food is amazing and supporting a local business and a business that caters to allergies is amazing.
