This place was recommended by a dealership to have a muffler replaced. It’s a first come, first served, Monday-Friday and appointment only on Saturday. Nothing fancy here but they do super quality work for a super fair price. Doubt you will get it any cheaper anywhere. Another customer came from Bellefontaine on a recommendation from a shop there. Really great experience.

I had a broken exhaust pipe and brought my car in to mad hatter. They took the time to show me where the problem was and replaced the broken portion in under 20 minutes at a very affordable price. As others have mentioned, get there early. They operate on a first come first serve basis, and by the time they opened at 8am there were 8+ people in line. They moved quick though and after my car was brought in it was finished in less than 20 minutes. I would highly recommend for muffler/exhaust issues!

I have to echo what everyone else says. You cant beat their prices. I expect they are a solid 75% or more cheaper than any chain mechanic shop youd go to. That said, let me also echo other reviews: you need to get there 30-60 minutes before they open. Park your car and stand in line outside and theyll start writing down the order you come in around 7:40 or so. Its still a 3-4 hour wait sometimes, but totally worth the price

I always bring my cars/trucks here for anything exhaust related, theyve got a great team and their work is always quality. If you have exhaust problems be sure to check them out, first come first serve daily though so make sure youre there when they open!

Looking over these reviews...missing is the fact that these guys ONLY fix or repair whats needed. NOTHING ELSE. They dont rip out a perfectly good exhaust pipe but theyll repair or weld the missing bracket or gasket. They are the BEST. They dont try to rip you off.

Ive used Mad Hatter many times over the years. If you have exhaust or muffler work you need done this is the place to go.It is first come first serve and you need to get there early, yes earlier then you think. This time around I was there at 7:30 and was 19th in line and they were fully booked by 9amBy the time they got to my car though it was 30 minutes in and out. They were honest and straightforward and only did the repairs that were required when they could have easily upsold me on other repairs.I had a question about a few other areas on the exhaust and they were upfront about if I needed the work or not.As a customer I truly appreciate that.

They did a good job replacing my catalytic converter. Also made me aware of a couple of other issues that they dont deal with so that I could get that taken care of as well. Get there super early though or you wont be seen. They are in high demand!

Always a wait but well worth it. The guys there are great and honest. They place your car up on racks show u whats wrong before the repair and after after repair they show u what was replaced. Ive done business with them in the past and recently too.

Get there early, because this business is first come, first served ONLY, and they cut it off after a certain number of customers. Shop opens at 8am. I got there at 7am on a Friday, and there were already five people ahead of me. A little inconvenient, but its worth it because they do only the work thats necessary and charge you a fair price. My 2000 Toyota Echo had a section of exhaust pipe that needed to be repaired. My local shop quoted me $1400 to replace the entire exhaust system. Mad Hatter repaired my exhaust pipe and replaced the muffler for $300.

The guys there are amazing! For someone that doesnt understand the car lingo, they were able to break down to me in a very respectful and detailed manner! I will definitely be coming back!!!

Everyone in the lobby during my service appointment was sharing that they found their way to Mad Hatter Muffler through a recommendation, and it’s easy to understand why their work is so well respected across Columbus. I had an 8am appointment on a Saturday to fix an exhaust leak (Saturdays are by appointment only), and I was out in 30 minutes. They showed me the issue, quoted a price, and shared what areas of my exhaust system were showing signs of wear for future awareness without trying to have me replace the whole system. Faster than an oil change and saved me a lot of money on the repair!

I went to this dealership in mid August. My car would stop in the middle of the road whenever I would hit the brake so I decided to go to Mad Hatters to get it fixed. They said that the problem was the catalytic converter so they replaced it but my car was still turning off. So I went back and told them that my car is still having the same problem that it was having before and I asked for my money back but they said no. I eventually ended up getting my money back after arguing with them for a bit but the problem is that they messed up my car even more because I wouldn’t pay them for an unfinished job. Now my car is having much more issues than it was having before because I refused to pay them for not fixing my car.

You have to arrive early. Once in it was quick and professional help. I thought I would have to replace everything. Nope just a small weld for under 50 bucks.

There is simply nowhere else you should take your car for muffler/exhaust issues. Best prices, best service, best expertise in town, maybe in the state!

Very friendly and professional staff, and the service was fast! I had new mufflers installed on my exhaust system, and then I came back to have them removed. I was in and out very quickly both times, and I was even given a break on the price for the removal. I recommend this place to anyone who wants work done on their exhaust system. Came in to remove the stock muffle on my 2006 F-150. From the time it was on the lift to the the time it rolled out was maybe 25 minutes tops, welds look good, couldn’t beat the price will definitely come back again if I need exhaust work done.

My catalytic converter was stolen, so I had to get a new one. I called several auto shop that specializes on exhaust. This place is not the cheapest but not the most expensive. Decided to give it a try due to the good reviews. Went there very early because its first come first serve basis. Told them my problem, they had quick look and give me the estimate. They worked fast and professional, less than an hour my car is done. Generally good service. I hope I never have to deal with exhaust problem again, but I will surely go back here if I have problem.

I hear they do great work and are super reasonable on price. If you are going to go, get there EARLY. I got there 10 mins after they opened and I was 20th in line. Estimated wait was 2-2.5 hours. I thought wow, I must be at the right place if they are that busy! So I patiently waited till my turn. Instead of 2-2.5 hours, it ended up being 4 HOURS! Thats not even the most frustrating part.. After waiting all that time, found out it wasnt really an exhaust leak like I was told and they were done within 5 mins. Thankful they didnt charge me to look at it. They definitely hustled all day to get through the 19 cars before me. I didnt see anyone playing around or taking breaks. They try to be efficient as possible. Just disliked not being able to have an appointment and the poor estimated wait time.

I learned about Mad Hatter Muffler years ago and I will never go anywhere else... they can just patch leaks if your on a budget or build a completely new custom exhaust.... Ive had both done and I couldnt be more pleased!NOTE: They will only work from the headers back...

From out of town and my exhaust leak got too bad/loud. A buddy that lives in town suggested Mad Hatter. Looked a little rough on the outside but the manager, Donnie, had it done in a few hours. Mentioned it could be one of 2 problems and wanted to try the least expensive option first. That was it- didnt try to cheat me by saying it was the converter. These guys know mufflers. The place isnt new or shiny and the staff is a little rough around the edges, but this is THE place to go for good muffler service. They replaced my stolen catalytic converter within an hour at a fraction of the price of a whole new exhaust system.

Super quick, courteous and very easy on the wallet.Went in today at 8:30; they got my car in within 10 minutes, showed me what was wrong 10 minutes later (an exhaust seal was going bad), and had it totally fixed 20 minutes after that. Total cost--$65. If me or my wife ever have exhaust problems on our cars again, were bringing them back here--highly recommend this place!

From the moment I got there they acted like they didnt want to do my car. Telling me I was missing at cat when I wasn’t. They quoted me 365 for a pipe to repairs in the back and for two cat flanges. The didn’t do the cat flanges like they included in the quote.

I had these guys install an aftermarket cat-back dual exhaust on my truck this morning. I couldn’t be happier with the results! The mechanics were really friendly and talked with me about exactly what they were going to do before doing it. The guy running the place was also extremely well organized, making the whole operation really quick and painless. Lastly the cost was more than reasonable. I will probably never go anywhere else for exhaust needs while I live in Columbus!

Been coming here for years. They did some exhaust cutouts and resonator / secondary muffler deletes for my Audi a8. You wont find better welders or folks that care about their work more than these folks. Oh yeah, they dont ever try to rip anyone off. If you want the work done right the first time for a price thats 1/10 what other muffler shops charge, come here. Its the not-so-best-kept secret of Columbus!

Get there early! You don’t have to line up at the door. They see who is in the parking lot as the clients come in. Once they open @ 8 they will read off a list of the cars that they saw and the order of service. Big props on running a custom duel system on my 69 Camaro. Hate to say this but I couldn’t buy the system myself cheaper in material than what they did in materials & labor.

Quality work. Good price ($60 to replace part of the exhaust pipe that has leak). Fast. No appointment needed. I came @ 7:30 am and was out @ 9 am. They have 4 doors and I had 4 people ahead of me, so I was first of the second batch. They removed the part that have gasket between muffler and exhaust pipe. I waisted $100 @ Tuffy to replace that gasket, the pipe fell off in 11 months in the same place. Mad Hatter cut it out and welded a piece of pipe in. Now it is one piece (muffler and exhaust pipe)

I would give 5 stars but theyre very busy because theyre so great and affordable they need to leave time at the end of the day to complete things. So I wouldnt count on them looking at your vehicle past 4:30-5PM. Chances are they will have crammed so many customers in they are full until the next day. I suggest go early and leave your vehicle. They are trust worthy, honest and fair.

I had them put Magna pack mid mufflers and rear resonator delete. It sounds great. I had a problem with the alignment for my exhaust tips after I left and they were able to get me in to fix it and were super friendly about it and did it at no charge! I like the work they do and if it isnt right they will fix it. All other shops were charging much higher across the board and couldnt get me in right away like Mad Hatter. I will recommend them every time and it has been the same guy running the place and they have always done a good job for me and my cars. They are honest and they dont try to sell you something you dont need. LIKE!

Its really unfortunate, Mad Hatter carries a great reputation and Ive spend thousands over the years with them. That being said, my suggestion is, DO NOT take your commercial vehicles there. After convincing me to use a smaller exhaust that what is factory spec, (the are incapable of bending 4inch exhaust) I went to pick up my fleet vehicle when completed, only to find out my manifold was leaking and the exhaust still sounds the same. After being belittled by the owner, he offered to cut everything back off. (Very professional) After paying the full price of $500+, (not looking for a hand out or free be) I wonder how people conduct business this way under this type of leadership.

I was so impressed with this business. Another muffler business (I wont name the place) told me I needed $500 worth of work on my muffler, and I told them I wasnt going to pay that amount of money. Someone told me to come to Mad Hatter, and they fixed the muffler issue for less than $100 . Also, they dont try to rip off females as so many auto repair shops do. Wonderful staff. Finally a repair shop I can trust.
