My son did a summer camp class through Pacific Ocean Sports. He had so much fun. Mike, Ryan and Shawn were all amazingly patient and encouraging.They got his confidence up and he decided to do the check out dive for his Jr. Open Water Certification. I am so grateful. I now have a dive buddy. I cant wait to do more dives with my kiddo and this group.

The Pacific Ocean Sports organization is absolutely amazing! You start with some learning to do and understanding of the dangers of scuba diving. Then you take some dives learning skill in pools with absolutely amazing instructors that are super nice and really helpful. The. You go to the ocean and do those same skills and then you are finally certified for your open water diving which can be so fun! Amazing experience!

My wife and I took the PADI Open Water Cert course and we were very impressed with Pacific Ocean Sports staff. Study the course material for several weeks before you show up on the first night! Pool training session was well-prepared and cadence was just right. Monterey diving was awesome! Lead instructor Mycol led a team of experienced dive instructors on an unforgettable experience. We cant wait to use our new SCUBA skills on our vacation in a few weeks. And were already talking about taking more PADI courses with Pacific Ocean Sports.

I have wanted to learn to scuba dive for quite a while, but with a trip to Hawaii planned I thought this was the perfect time! They offer weekend training classes, which didnt work for me as I work weekends, but they have a fully custom training plan for a little bit more money. Mycol was my instructor, he was very patient and encouraging. Highly recommend Pacific Ocean Sports for all of your scuba needs.

What an amazing experience. Just got certified as open water diver. Still can’t believe it. Dream of my life. Instructors were great: experienced, knowledgeable and fun. Whole training felt like boot camp with best reward at the end. A lot of practice and understanding of important rules of diving mixed with the best feeling in the world - being under water, being a part of underwater life, being alive. If you love ocean, don’t miss this opportunity. There is so much more to see and do. it’s not too late, I’m 51 and hope to dive for many more years. Cant say enough good things about the folks at Pacific Ocean Sports. Recently took the Open Water Class and the experience was educational and fun, with the instructors being both informative without being overbearing. I definitely plan on taking more classes with them, and if youre looking for a great place to take scuba classes, you should give them a call.

I got my Open Water Diver certification through Pacific Ocean Sports this past weekend, and it was a really fun experience. My partner and I picked up our DVD and booklet to review all the safety and equipment info about a month ahead of time. Id recommend doing this, as there is a lot of info you learn when you begin diving.The two weekends of the class allowed us to practice skills in a local pool, and then perform them in the ocean. There were a lot of students in my class, so I appreciate how the instructors split us into groups to ensure that everyone could do a skill. The instructors offered tips for how to complete a skill or go more slowly if we didnt get them the first time.The weekend of diving in the ocean was magical! Mycol, Ryan, Julie, Trish, and Sean helped us feel comfortable in the new environment and I cant wait to dive again!

When Im learning something new, about being in and part of a new environment I havent been in...well, Im gonna ask a lot of questions. The staff was so great in answering all my qustions before, during and after the dives. Im excited to finally be connected to Big Blue in a whole new way.

Just got my open water certification here with Ryan and Mycol. Everyone is very nice, patient, and helpful! All the instructors/dive masters were very experienced and ready to answer any questions that I had. A friend of mine did his open water certification the same weekend as me through another Bay Area dive company and after talking to him it sounds like Pacific Ocean Sports offered a much better experience. I feel confident that I can go to dive sites around the world and do well. Highly recommend Pacific Ocean sports!

Wonderful dive shop with awesome knowledgeable staff and instructors. I plan to keep coming here for all my scuba needs. Took the open water diver training and plan to take the advanced open water training next. The instructors were extremely knowledgeable and handled everything professionally and skillfully. One of the funniest experiences yet!

Recently got my open water certification here and it was one of the coolest experiences ever. All of the dive instructors here are really patient and friendly. I was frustrated with the instructors during training in the pool because my buddy was having trouble equalizing her ears and not 1 out of the 3 instructors I asked for help did anything more than say she just has to keep trying. All I wanted was for them to explain the techniques again or in a different way and they didnt seem to understand how that would help. They were also extremely lax on the swimming requirements, with multiple students not doing the whole 200m swim or 10 min treading/floating.Despite leaving me with low expectations after the pool training, the instructors did a good job in the ocean and did take the time required to help my buddy with the skills there. They are were generally friendly and helpful most of the time. So I hope that my experience was a one-off.

Mycol at Pacific Ocean Sports is a great instructor. His team is top notch. They all are very knowledgeable and confident in their experience which translates into clear instruction. They also have a lot of patience, which made me feel that not only was I in good hands, but that my kids were too. They make it a priority that their students are comfortable, understand the nuances of diving, and are able to implement what is taught. And they all have a great sense of humor. Im incredibly grateful to have chosen Pacific Ocean Sports for my familys instruction and for our diving gear.

My parents surprised me for Christmas with an open water certification class at Pacific Ocean Sports. I was a little nervous at first but the instructors were so friendly and helpful that they made me feel confident from the very beginning. Just got my open water certification (PADI) this past weekend. Mycol, the main instructor, was awesome. I haven’t been scuba diving in over 8 years (SSI certified), and Mycol made it easy and fun to relearn the skills and get me back into diving. I would recommend going Pacific Ocean Sports for training and certification but also for knowledge on diving in general as well.

My husband surprised me with a scuba certification for my birthday in 2019, but we werent able to do it until this year. We researched a few shops in the area, and landed with Pacific Ocean Sports based on the extremely positive reviews and competitive rate. I was quite hesitant about the training process initially because I had only gone snorkeling in the past, and relying on equipment to breathe (other than a snorkel) was very new to me (as it is for most people) and a little scary. Mycol, the main instructor, was fantastic! He helped calm my nerves and helped me work through a skill that I was struggling with in the pool-based training. All the other Pacific Ocean Sports people who supported the certification process were so friendly/helpful/supportive and made my certification a wonderful experience :) I cant wait to explore the underwater world more in the future! Ive added a photo from our last day of certification after we had completed a guided dive in Monterey from San Carlos Beach. Thanks again, Pacific Ocean Sports!

I got my open water certification with my mom and brother from here and we had a ton of fun. The people who work here go out of their way to make sure you are as comfortable as possible so you enjoy you experience.

I went to have a PCP air rifle tank filled. It was my first visit to the shop. The gentleman who helped me was fast and courteous. The shop is really neat and clean.

I was in a bit of a pinch with a malfunctioning spg the day before a dive and the wonderful lady working helped me tremendously. I came in less than an hour before they closed and she helped me troubleshoot my issue. Very knowledgeable and kind, I will definitely be returning here!

Pacific Ocean Sports recently provided a stellar open water dive certification course, including four ocean dives in Monterey, for our three teenaged kids. Instructor Mycol is clearly a best in class diver and teacher. There is a LOT to learn to dive safely, and he was able to teach the kids in a way that was engaging and effective. We also appreciated how patient and kind he was. Our kids -- all open water and junior open water divers now -- had a blast and cannot wait to get back in the ocean again. My favorite dive shop in the Bay Area. Huge selection of free dive gear and now scuba gear. Always have the gear I need on hand. If they dont have it they will get it ASAP.Spent time talking with Ryan and Jeff who got me hooked up for a lobster diving trip in October through the shop. Was one of the best dive experiences Ive had to date. They took the hassle out of everything with gear/tanks etc. Every employee is super knowledgeable and will make sure you get the gear you need and not just sell you stuff you dont.Cant recommend them enough. Only place Ill go!!

I took my Open Water Diver certification course with Mycol and his team. What an incredible experience! I came in with zero knowledge or background in scuba; or anything water related. The entire experience, start to finish, was calm, cool, relaxed, extremely enjoyable, and most importantly educational. I am confident in the skills, and base knowledge I gained; and I will absolutely be signing up and continuing my diving education and experience with Mycol and the team at Pacific Ocean Sports.

Very happy with the selection and service. We were there for about an hour and he was very patient helping us choose fins, snorkels and masks. Never rushed us or tried to coerce us in to buying anything more expensive than we needed. We’ll definitely be back.

Man, this place always has exactly what I need and never tries to sell me some stuff that I don’t need! The instructors are all super patient! Their rental gear is of exceptional quality and they have enough of it.....its ALWAYS available unlike the other dive stores in the eastbay or sac. I will never shop, rent, or train anywhere else!
