I am visiting from out of state and had a missing screw on our grandsons bouncer seat. Rather than toss the broken seat, my husband suggested I take it to Ace Hardware. I brought it in this morning and went to the fastener section. Gene was working today and he removed the remaining screw, measured its circumference and length, found a replacement for the missing one and even installed it to make sure it fit. The whole thing was quick and so helpful!! Thanks to Gene for his superior service today.! Ace is the place with the helpful hardware man!!😉

In general Id give this store a higher rating, but my last two experiences deserve a one star rating. They have what appears to be, a several thousand dollar key making machine, but it certainly appears that nobody has ever been trained to use it. Twice in the last three months Ive needed a key made for my car and both times it turned into a multi trip hour ordeal. The last time, I finally said, just let me have the unfinished key, and Ill finish it myself at home.Very bad impression, and I wont be rushing back there the next time I need something.

There was a misunderstanding about the paint sheen during a recent paint purchase. I brought in the can and explained the situation. They were fantastic about it. They mixed a new can because of the mistake and didn’t charge. No pushback or questions. You wouldn’t get that at the big box stores. Can’t say enough about the quality of service. Holly was the associate who took care of the situation. 5 stars and a smile.

I go here all the time for odds n ends. I rated 3 stars because I called this place asking if they has a specific part. The response i got was we might have those you have to come look and then they ended the call. Besides staff problems the store is clean, organized, and always stocked.

Great selection in their grills. However I am disappointed in Aces Rewards program. I had to coax the cashier into scanning my promotions. Also the discounts are very restrictive.

I went up to the counter, the older gentleman didnt say may i help you, he just kept on typing on the computer as if i wasnt standing there, Wow 😳🥴🥴😱 thats krazy. Ill stick to Menards or Home Depot or Lowes, the staff there are very polite 🤔 😊...i have to tap one 🌟 star so my experience will post, still No Stars.

10 people walked b me and NEVER asked “Can I help you find something?” I came for five things and just struggled to find them. I want going to stoop down and lower myself to ask. They need to change their ways. It is a management problem. Systematically flawed.

My husband and I thought wed visit this location since we made a day trip to Merrillville, could possibly kill two birds with one stone. Well, not happening at this location.Not sure what was going on, of they knew we were from our of town (not likely) but most Ace Hardware stores have food service. Not this one.The elderly gentleman in the paint section who we approached had decided he didnt have, not did this Ace Hardware store, have what we wanted. My husband came with the paint codes from some paint choices we hoped theyd have. The guy change the codes a cursory glance and stated we aint got those here. Not maybe hed been there a while but he didnt even try to see if there was something comparable.Hes made sure well make sure to skip the Ace Hardware while out that way, even if we need something.

I was coming in asking about lawn mower stuff. No hi, I had to say can you help me while he stay seen me looking, I asked for help with lawn mower and got a what do you want. Just s nasty old man. Half bald and glasses. 1 person can hurt a whole store.. definately dont want to return if I dont have to.

They had what I needed. Young man helped me with my purchase and took items to my car for me. He then loaded my car for me. Im disabled so I appreciate his assistance so much!

Ace is the place. I always stop here for my nuts and bolts needs. They rarely dont have what I need. Great place to shop

Every time I need something and consider this place its never open and I have to drive to the True value over by the fairgrounds.Making a mental note to just stop trying and spend my money elsewhere

Not knowledgeable of what they have. Dont stock some obvious items such as offset screwdrivers. They closed during Covid didnt consider themselves essential and left customers hanging. This describes their attitude. Good Ace in Winfield and good TruValue in Crown Point.

I visited the Crown Point location on Wednesday. I was quite distraught because the little stool I use to get my elderly mom in and out of my jeep had broke. I had to take her to a Dr.s appt that day and I didnt have much time. If you have elderly parents you know that the stool must be a certain height. Not just any stool will do. I ran around all the morning looking for the right height. I was carrying that stool in and out of every store. When I walked in I was approached by Anthony who immediately took me to stools. He said, this looks too high and this one might not be high enough. He took a look at my stool and asked if he could give it a shot at repairing it. He took it and was off. Upon return he handed me my stool, stronger then ever. Thank you Anthony. I love this store. You have made a customer for life. Sometimes thats more important that making 25.00 sale.

Always have what I need. Prices are slightly higher than the orange store. But for convenience and customer service they are great. Every worker Ive dealt with is super nice. And always seems to be the same 5-6 workers that I see. The fill propane on site and that has been great. Hours are not that convenient but again they are the neighborhood store and not the big box a few miles up the road.

Merrillville Ace Hardware has just about that anybody would need. Plumbing, paint, brooms, shovels, snacks, key maker and MORE! The employees are uber friendly and will walk you to the correct aisle for what you need! They also fill propane tanks for outdoor grilling and they even take items that are to heavy for you right to your car...

Good place with mostly knowledgeable employees.

Convenience is the only benefit to this place. Way overpriced and most of the staff is overly attentive to the point of being annoying. Many of them are not very knowledgeable either...probably shouldnt be working in a hardware store.

This place is awesome!! I went there for the 1st time today and I was so impressed with how many items they have and the brands they carry. They even have a Stihl section with saws, blowers, and trimmers. I will make this my go to hardware store from now on.

If you cant find something, you absolutely need, in any other store.... chances are, they have two kinds of them here. Staff is very knowledgeable and always willing to help find what youre looking for.

Not a very good experience here with a simple coupon sent from them, in an email. Cashier had to call and ask if it was OK to scan a coupon that said print or have cashier scan. Uhm she ended up scanning it...not rocket science
