I got my nose pierced with Olivia a few days ago and she was the sweetest! She talked me through the process and made sure I was comfortable with the placement and everything else. Would 100% recommend coming here and getting a piercing with her!! Ill be back soon for a belly piercing:)

Blake did an amazing tattoo. It was my sons first one and Blake wanted it to be a good experience. Not only did he tattoo him he also engaged my son in good conversation.

Olivia put my piercing in the WORST spot on my face. And after I had asked her “are you sure this is the correct placement?” She said over and over how perfect it was but she lied to me knowing how terrible she did my piercing when she could have just fixed it for me. I had to go to another piercing place to get it looked at they said it was done VERY wrong and they took it out for me. She does not know what she’s doing AT ALL.

I have had the best experiences of my life at this place! Grace is the most phenomenal tattoo artist I have ever had the pleasure of getting tattooed by. There is no one more talented! I also was pierced by Olivia and I had the most seamless, painless experience I have ever had in my life and I’ve had piercings from veteran piercers. What treasures those two are! I contacted Tough Luck and scheduled a consultation for a tattoo/ cover up I wanted to discuss. When I arrived at the scheduled time,the associate tried do do my consult WHILE TATTOOING another client. Literally talked across her as I stood in the doorway. The associate was rude and seemed frustrated I didnt know exactly what I wanted and of course couldnt look at the existing tattoo to be covered.Ive considered going back so many times because many other have positive experiences but this experience was appaling for me.

I typically love this place, I have piercings done by Jennifer and Olivia and a tattoo from Sean that Im all very happy with. Well today I called at 1:30 to see If they were doing walkin piercings. Olivia answered and said they will be doing walkins from 2:30 to 7:30. We showed up at like 4:30 very excited just to have Sean come out and tell us Olivia went home and no one can do piercings. Okay, no biggie stuff happens. When I asked when she would be available he turned to her and asked her when shes would be available and I hear Olivia in the back. She was getting a tattoo by Sean. I wouldnt be upset if they were honest with me. Something along the lines of hey I had some free time to tattoo her and shes in my chair right now, she can reschedule would have been perfectly professional. But instead I got lied to. Just aggravating.

Along with a few other tattoos that he has done for me, as well as going to different shops in the past, I can personally say that this man does the best. Went in to inquire about a touch up and a new piece. John was very honest with me about his skillset, and referred me to another artist for the first piece I had in mind, however my second idea was perfectly within his wheelhouse and we made an appointment. The appointment itself went smoothly. John is a respectful and talented professional, and did a phenomenal job of bringing my idea to life in a way that worked well for both parties. 10/10 will definitely be coming back.

I got a chest tattoo that did not match the pic I provided. I was tattooed by Grace very nice girl not enough experience for my skin type. My tattoo got infected because she gave me the wrong care instructions. A lot of pain and ugliness. If I could I was show pics of the work, but it seems not to be an option for this review. If you choose Grace as you artist keep your tattoo small and simple

All 3 of my piercings got infected even though i clean them everyday. My nose piercing was pierced in the wrong spot . The piercer missed the dots she placed and went straight through a keloid i had already when i specifically said not to pierce through the bump she did. I want my money back . This is not a good place to get pierced .

Ive only had work done by Blake at Tough Luck, (which he does awesome work) but from what Ive seen and heard, all the artists there are awesome.

Professional, Friendly, Clean, and Great Artwork!I got two AMAZING tattoos by Jennifer this past week and already I cant wait to come back to have more work done! They made me comfortable answered my many questions and gave me advice on the design I wanted to ensure that it turned out the best it could. There are individual rooms for PRIVACY which is different than other shops I have been in. They ask you to come in about 6 weeks after to make sure everything looks good and they offer FREE TOUCH UPs once your tattoo has healed (another perk that no other shop has offered me in the past) The tattoos themselves turned out exactly as I wanted them to and on my cover up tattoo, even I cannot tell where the old ink is under the new design!!! All the artists there are very friendly & seem to know their stuff! This is my new go-to shop for both tattoos and piercings. Ive gotten a ton of compliments on my 2 new pieces that Jennifer did I HIGHLY recommend her or any of the artists @ Tough Luck to anyone looking for a GREAT LOCAL SHOP with EXPERIENCED ARTISTS that is AFFORDABLE & doesnt cost a fortune like some big name shops. I know Ill be telling anyone looking for new ink or piercings to come here!***Pictures below are right after I was inked so it isnt all healed up and final touch ups havent been made yet but they look amazing and are almost done scabbing so the color on the cover up piece isnt as dark anymore

I had a great experience at Tough Luck! I went in with my parents and it was the first tattoo for all three of us. The whole staff was very friendly, informative and made for a fun environment. Blake did such a good job listening to our individual ideas and coming up with great tattoos! I loved that he was honest with what would look good on certain areas and what wouldnt. This was a terrible experience NO ONE should go here, they are extremely unprofessional. I came in for a septum piercing and after I filled out all the paper work and was in the chair she told my she didn’t have the proper nose ring but it should be fine. She didn’t count down or explain anything and when she tried to pierce me she missed! When I told her it hurt a lot she said “ ha yeah it looked like it hurt” Then she did it again and the placement was all wrong. She kept the needle in my nose for minutes and struggled to put the ball on the end. then charged me $60 dollars for it. I had to go to a new shop the next day to look at it and they said it was done wrong and had to take it out. Huge was of money don’t go here, it’s unprofessional, unsanitary (kept touching her face and didn’t wear a mask) and expensive!

John Thao does AMAZING work! He is SO precise and has amazing detail. He is so fun to be around and very easy going! This was my first tattoo so my nerves were extremely high but he made getting a tattoo easy! He has a light touch so there was very little pain! HIGHLY RECOMMEND! I will 100% be back to John for my next tattoo!

First time getting a tattoo with John and I am absolutely floored by how amazing he is with his line work. Precise attention to detail and also great conversation, and there was candy and pillows! I was very comfortable the whole time and I am just beyond impressed. I will definitely go to John for tattoos in ihe future. :)

Blake did a great job with my wifes ring finger tattoo. Wish the pricing would have been explained better. After putting down a $40 deposit, we were told that a 10 minute tattoo would cost $100.Still, he did an excellent job.

I absolutely love tough luck tattoo and won’t go anywhere else.I wanted to get a tattoo for my dad that is passed. I instantly got a great vibe from John. I showed him my ideas, he listened to what I wanted. From start to finish it was an excellent experience.When he finished I had to hold back the tears. He nailed it! I walked in for two simple earlobe piercings, and Jessica (the apprentice) was the first one to greet me (a couple other employees made sure Id been helped when she saw me reading). I waited less than half an hour for my turn, and she was wonderful! Im definitely going back again soon!

They were very kind and took us in on a walk in an hour before closing.Cause we were only doing small outline tattoos.They did great work!We are very pleased with our results.

I just saw John here yesterday. I called and asked if anyone was available, and luck me, John was! I got a sternum tattoo, gave him some ideas of what I like and he rolled with it and drew me up a beautiful piece! All in all, I think it took about 2-3 hours, like work looks amazing! John is also really awesome to talk to!

I got a nose piercing there from an apprentice, and I should of known better to get it from someone who didn’t have much experience. I understand that everybody has to start somewhere, but you should be well trained and educated first before you have to put a needle in someone. The person she was being watched by was another piercer and she didn’t do a very good job at watching/guiding her. I had a very traumatic experience because of how long it took and how much pain I was in. The woman watching/guiding ended up taking over because they couldn’t get the jewelry in. So they took it out, stuck the needle back in, had me lay on my back, and then put the jewelry back in. Overall, they didn’t even use the breathing technique, I was in major pain, I wasn’t told how long it would take it heal, they had trouble marking where to place it, I wasn’t offered to buy any cleaning solution, and I ended up taking out the nose piercing because of how high it was and how the jewelery looked because it was digging into my nose. I suggest that you go to a MORE EXPERIENCED location and to just pay the price $$ (I went to their $10 Friday deal).

After doing extensive research to find an artist whose work I thought would go with the idea I had, I found John Thao at Tough Luck - phenomenal artist and an attitude to match. We talked over a few details, he gave me some great advice and we tweaked a few things but overall he put together a piece that was EXACTLY what I was looking for. Dude put almost 10 hours in on a Saturday night, well after everyone else had taken off for the day, to make it perfect. As good of an artist as he is, hes an even better guy - good vibe and easy to talk to. Would recommend him to ANYONE. Already kicking around a few ideas with him for my next one. Going to be my go-to moving forward for sure. GO SEE HIM!

I am sooo in love with my tattoo! It was my first and I had John Thao. I contacted him through Facebook and he was VERY responsive. He asked what I was looking for and was able to fit me in sooner than I had expected! While at the shop he did such a great job at explaining the process and reassuring me as I had some heightened nerves being as this was my first tattoo. He’s SUPER easygoing so it made the experience even better. He’s also super professional and meticulous which was perfect for my tattoo since it was more fine line work.While getting tatted I told my sister I wasalready thinking of what I’m going to get next, and although that’s still undecided, I’ll definitely be going back to John!!

Ive been trying to get a zombie Tattoo finished for three years!!! Been calling back and trying to set up appointments for the whole time and NEVER gave me a call back and the tattoo was poorly done!Only had the outline done but I went to ace tattoo over in golden valley and he can cover it and make it look ten times better smh go to ACE TATTOO they do piercings too. This place sucks so hard

Think that this shop went through a management change. Arthur did my tattoo. He seems very green and nervous. Jennifer, who I think is the new owner, came in and touched it up his work. Jennifer than did my husbands tattoo. She was quick, accurate and did a great job. I wish that they both would have talked more, but all and all it was a good experience.

They offer a wide variety of tattoo and piercing options but seem to lack speed to their work. However, this can be seen as both good or bad.

Went in for very simple line work about six months ago and it just looks like a mess now. Way too deep. All of the lines are raised like scar tissue and extremely uneven in thickness.

Great place! Love the vibe and great artists.
