The food and the service is great. But I swept the room where we stayed in room #203 and it was not really clean. I cleaned under the table and chairs in the kitchen area and the chairs and tables where you sit to watch tv in the room and under one of the chairs had a pistachio shell and some other gross stuff. And I don’t know what is underneath the couch cause it’s too heavy for me to pull out. But everything else that I swept it was not really clean that well.

The place looks awesome and has just about anything you could ask for in a resort. Bobbers was hopping and sounded like a blast, even tho we didnt go, we could enjoy the music from our campsite. The staff was particularity helpful relocating us when our 5th wheel wouldnt fit in our reserved spot. We didnt fish but the fishing is clearly good because we seen a lot of full nets and buckets going to the fish cleaning house. My only complaint would be that leashed dogs is not enforced. We take our dogs for a lot of walks and numerous times we had to grab our dogs up so whatever random lose dog came at us wouldnt attack our dogs. It was very frustrating and almost terrifying each time we took our dogs out.We will go here again, but without our dogs :) and next time stay in a lodge or motel room!

Our group of 5 went to Woodland Resort the last weekend in February 2021. We were not very impressed with the Ice Fishing Package that we bought. The Good: Woodland Resort was a great place to stay. The on-site restaurant was great for when we arrived after our long drive. Their legendary suite was very nice and functional. The rooms were clean - a perfect place to relax after a long day of VERY unsuccessful fishing. The Bad: We understand that the resort isnt responsible for the fishing on the lake; some times are slower than others. We also understand that there is a certain amount of skill that can make a difference when catching fish. That being said, we were not even marking fish on our graphs in the Woodland ice houses or the holes we requested for tip-up fishing. Our party of five caught two fish over full two days of fishing. We split up the group between our deep and shallow houses - again, marking almost no fish at all. When we told the staff about our poor results during each day, we got affirmations that those who were in the houses in previous days had done really poorly as well. On our second day, no one checked in with our party after 9 am.Again, we understand that they cant control everything but they definitely could have and should have been doing more to find and get us on fish for the amount of money we spent. Because we thought they would be doing the effort of finding fish we didnt bring our own houses and augurs - that was a mistake. We were at the mercy of where houses had been placed days before.BOTTOM LINE: Woodland Resort was a very nice place to stay. If you need a place to stay while bringing your own gear, you should consider them. However, I could not in any way recommend that you use them for their ice fishing package. They DO NOT provide a service that is worth the expense. The disinterest and apathy towards our poor fishing sealed the deal. We will likely choose to go to another place in the future.

I received a phone call from staff at Woodland around 3pm on our arrival date (we were actually on the road traveling there) asking me if it would be okay to switch our camper spot from site 10 to site 11. I didn’t know what to say as I didn’t exactly remember what the spots looked like when we were there the year prior. I asked why are we being asked to switch. The person on the phone told me that an employee accidentally told another group to take spot 10 earlier in the day. When we arrived, it was quite obvious why site 11 wasn’t used by the people previously assigned to it. There was clumpy cotton everywhere and the dirt where the camper is supposed to go wasn’t even level, lots of dirt hills/uneven spots. The cotton was all over. There’re as a hailstorm the day AFTER we arrived which didn’t help with the dirt/mud situation. It actually helped was some of the cotton away.It was quite a challenge for my husband to get our camper in the spot. Once we were finally parked and got the camper almost level, our electrical cord didn’t even reach to the outlet! Then he had to move the camper a few more times, but in order to reach the electricity and park, our awning couldn’t even be opened up due to a tee in the way. We obviously wouldn’t have had any of these problems if we were in our original spot that we booked a year ago!I’m just so disappointed that this spot isn’t what we were expecting. We looked last year at the spots and liked site 10. We reserved that spot a year ago….just don’t feel it was fair…what WAS I to say on the phone when I’m told that someone’s else is set up on original spot? I was thinking maybe someone with a large motorhome needed it, but obviously that was NOT the case!…I didn’t know that site 11 would be in the condition it was. I emailed them the evening we checked in about this issue and still no response. I also said something to staff when we checked out, but no apology, just happily took our payment.Wewill never camp there again. The food was delicious at The Cove.

At the end of the day, we all had a blast drinking at the Proz Lakeside Bar and grill where they offer GREAT food and cheap drinks! Highly recommend the pizzas and the Hawaiian chicken dinner. Oh... The fishing was worse than sub-par, the “guides” that take you to hard shacks don’t really know where the fish are or really help you to find them either. The only thing they care about is keeping the heater on 2 and not if you caught anything. We caught more fish on our own than in the shacks and even when we asked them where we should try because the hard shacks were so bad, they still couldn’t get us on fish. Straight disappointing.

Just got back from a two day trip ice fishing. Unfortunately I do not have any fish to unload. The staff was great but it could have been a little more organized in the morning on where to go and what to do. Speaking of morning it would be nice to get to your houses at 5:30-6 not 7:30. The food? The food is amazing and Ive been a chef for 20 years. Great food. The cheap Motel rooms tiny but youre not there to sit in a room so oh well they are cheap. Nice ice houses. Just no fish. 20 hours in a ice house should yeild at least marks on the vexilar. Maybe 10 walleyes 6-12 inches. 1 little perch. Go during the week if you can and not the weekend, way less people. Will go again but bring all my own gear so I can bounce around. Houses dont get moved often thats pretty clear. Maybe Ill try a guide next time.

The facilities are in good condition. Our Pullout bed was completely covered in black hair(dog?), however. The lodge and Bar were very nice, with good food. Our biggest problem with the stay was the condition of our fish house on Saturday, and our overall fishing success. Opening morning, we were driven to our house by a guy filling in. We got turned around on the way out but were given NO help in fishing tips. We were a group of 4 guys and were crammed into the morning house tightly. That house did not have good lighting and the holes were close enough that the one fish we caught there was able to wrap up 3 lines. The main guide did show up and apologize repeatedly, but it is tough to fillet an apology. At the end of the day, we told the lodge of our terrible fishing, and the kid said that area hasnt been good for some time. That made us glad we were chosen to fish in the bad area.... We went to a roomier house for Sundays fishing (although the lighting still was terrible) and fishing was even worse. No fish. Vexilars dont lie. We didnt see a single fish under that house. All in all we drove 6 hours one way to experience Great Perch and Walleye fishing. We were terribly disappointed. Will go back to Lake of the Woods going forward.

Service was great both nights by both our servers and bartender although one male bartender be was not friendly or helpful (so we didnt order from him). Even better, we fished two days straight and we caught TEN fish TOTAL. That’s five guys, again two full days of fishing. The staff knew we weren’t catching any fish but let us sit there all day long and continue not to catch fish. We thought they should have tried to move us to get on SOME fish. Upon arrival we discovered we had in fact not seen pictures of the rooms we were staying in but of the overpriced suites ($200-300/night). The rooms we received were in a separate building more like an outdated roadside motel. Im all about staying in family owned places, but this is too bare bones and wrongfully advertised. The rooms smell stale, the wifi doesnt work (which meant I could not work at all), the food next door made my guts hurt, there wasnt any soap, and it gets noisy at 4am for hunters. None of this would be a problem had it been advertised or had the guy at the front desk explained that this was more of a hunting bunkhouse for retired wealthy hunters. My coworker and I feel scammed, and the front desk response was, K.So. This is just a placeholder until they fix their ad to assist others from falling into the same hole.

My dad was diagnosed with ALS in November. I told him to pick a place ANY WHERE IN THE WORLD he has always wanted to go and Id make it happen! He called me a few days later and said Woodland Resort North Dakota ICE FISHING! So it was no Mexico with sandy beach trip I knew but it was going to be great! I think it is important you guys realize just how important this trip was for our family. No fish and weather sucked the first day but that is not the resorts fault and we were never upset by it!What is upsetting is the fact our trash was never taken out. My husband had to take our trash down to the front desk and ask for towels. The guy didnt say oh my gosh Im so sorry. He just looked at him and said yep. No towels arrived. It was the night before we left that I finally had to call the emergency numbers listed on the locked lobby doors to get towels at 10 PM. There was 5 of us and 4 towels for the first 4 days. There were a handful of guys working front desk and taking us to ice huts and literally maybe 2 guys were super friendly and trying to be as helpful as possible. I bet these guys go through some real nasty people when they arent getting a bite. It is almost like they didnt want to make eye contact. We arent those people! Customer service and hospitality lacks. I dont know if its cause we were staying towards the end of ice fishing season or what. The restaurant for supper was GREAT food! The waitresses were all super friendly. The breakfast is an absolute joke. You pay $9.75 for a basic continental breakfast buffet. We ate breakfast one morning not knowing better. Save your money! That kind of breakfast should be included in your stay. For what you pay it should be off the charts great! They have a great resort and all the tools. It was truly just unfortunate cause of the stakes of this trip. Did I mention we drove 14 hours one way to go here.
