Bottle King is a local chain, so I can understand those who want a more intimate, local setting. Dont be dissuaded by the large building and the voluminous selection - this is a great place to shop. There is a fantastic selection of liquors, beers, and wines. The staff is friendly and helpful with their recommendations. The member prices give a nice discount. The cheese variety is also lovely. Well worth your time.

Dumont is ok with a membership but pricey otherwise. I gave it four stars because of its great selection, organization and variety of snacks you can pick up for a quick gathering (i.e. meat & cheeses platters). Itll cost you but youll find it there!!

I really enjoyed shopping here. Coming from NYC this shop is gigantic and carries everything. Theres even a great selection of party snacks and appetizers. Its one stop for everything if youre visiting a friend whos hosting a cookout or party.

Convenient and reasonably priced. I drive over from a few towns to come here when I need to purchase alcohol. I usually go to Total Wine in River Edge, but this place is sometimes as competitive. The selection is obviously less than Total Wine because it’s a smaller store, but it definitely beats all the other mom and pop liquor stores who overcharge.

Place is lacking in customer service. I put in a curb side pick up order, parked in the curb side p/u spot and there is a sign there that says text your order number with a phone number. After waiting for about 15 minutes I called and the person informs me that the phone number listed there does not work. Why dont they take the sign down if it does not work. Does not take a genius to figure that one out.

PROS: Always my one stop shop for all liquor. No matter what type of wine, beer, or hard liquor they have it. Not only that but they have it at the best prices. Most of their staff is very friendly and they are eager to help you out.CONS: As mentioned most of their staff is nice but some arent. Some dont look like they dont want to be there and anytime I speak to them they give me attitude. The parking lot is also difficult to navigate around simply because its congestedOVERALL: I will keep on coming back to this store because its the best liquor store around. I just hope management has a meeting with its staff and reminds them to at least act happy

I was followed through the store and asked if I needed help. I immediately declined. After all, I had just left the store after making my first purchase and turned back because I forgot the triple sec. The man continued to follow me after I declined what I now know was his insincere offer to help me. He waited until I checked out and ask me if I had stolen something in front of everyone at the checkout line. Luckily for me I had gone to the same checkout counter so the cashier was able to tell him that I hadn’t stolen anything that I had just forgotten an item. The guy seemed to be satisfied with the cashier’s response and just walks away. NO APOLOGY! No apology for following me through the store no apology for accusing me of stealing in front of a line of people. A receipt is optional at bottle king I fear what may have happened if I didn’t ask the cashier to print the receipt. I fear how it would have escalated had I not gone through the same checkout line. I felt profiled and the whole thing just felt wrong so I filed a report. They guy told me they would call me back with a follow-up. Which they did today. The guy on the other end of the phone had no idea what HE was calling about. I had to explain the whole situation to him, although I had already explained everything for the report. This man called me just to make excuses about why the guy had the right to do what he did. I explained that’s fine! I understand you have a store policy! I understand you have a lot of thefts but that is no reason to not apologize to me when he was completely in the wrong. I did not take anything, he should have apologized. Don’t walk away from me like I’m not a paying customer in your store. Like I’m not a human being. You make a mistake, you say sorry. I am a nanny and that’s exactly what I teach my children. I shouldn’t have to explain this to an adult. Why did I even receive a call back if you planned to make excuses for treating a paying customer like a criminal? After explaining being profiled, which what they usually do to look for shoplifters. The guy’s response was oh no the guy didn’t profile you. Dude, you barely know why you are calling me. How do you know what he did or didn’t do, you werent there. I was there I felt his eyes watching me. At some point It felt like this man over the phone wasn’t even listening. Then He says, “ooh is the problem that he didn’t apologize ...I’m trying to understand”. YES!!! He goes on to say oh okay I will tell him. Still no apology ...just me being more upset than before. The only comfort is me hoping this man will tell him for the next person he harasses? Bottle King needs to do better. Until they do I won’t be shopping there again.

My dad needed several cases of beer and a representative got it met us at checkout and then loaded into his vehicle. Great Employees!!

They made me fill out some silly paperwork at checkout because my ID was from PA. My friends and I have also been treated rudely by employees because they thought we were underage (we were all 23 at the time). Ive never dealt with such foolishness at other liquor stores.

The a Bottle King in Dumont is my new go-to spot! This place is simply the best. We ordered a bunch of kegs for a party that had to be special ordered. Ken was the manager that was helping us and he was just great! Knowledgeable, professional and really nice. Patty the store manager was really on top of things too when she called to let us know kegs were in and followed up a few times. Even Dan... THE DISTRICT MANAGER... was helping out. All questions were answered and no stone was left unturned. I would never thing such a large store (and chain) would give such one-on-one attention for a random customer with a small order. I just can’t go anywhere else simply based on their impeccable customer service. They have everything you’ll ever need. Thx again guys! You’re the best!

Nice store. Decent prices on some things. Awkward parking lot.Main problem is there is absolutely no selection of mid-size bottles. Its shots or liters and up. The few 200 oz. and 375 oz. bottles are so few and very overpriced, forcing you to buy larger. I dont like that. Cigarettes are also expensive.Otherwise, well-organized, friendly, shop.Not dark, with a grimy feel, as so many liquor stores are.

I WAS a long standing Dumont resident and customer of Bottle King. Even before it was Bottle King. Its morphed into quite the gourmet wine/liquor store equipped with all types of accoutrements. Ive been in line when a customer requested an item be stocked. Voila! Its on the shelf. I followed suit. Still waiting for my item. Oh well, ShopRite Liquors carries whatever I ask for because “green” is THEIR favorite color. Cheers, Bottle King - - I’m out!

Bottle King is scamming customers. The wine point guide does not match the year when the wine was made. They are trying to trick the customer into thinking they are buying the wine that got the good rating. When in fact it was a complete different year. Between this and the raised beer prices. You can go anywhere now and get the same deal as bottle king.
