Ive been going to Jess for a while now and she is so amazing with my super fine hair, she always helps me decide what to do with it and teaches me a new haircare trick every time I see her. My color and cuts grow out so well which is perfect for my low maintenance style. Shes the best!

I know multiple people who have had an awful experience here. i never felt the need to leave a bad review but after today, i am appalled. when i went a couple years ago, i went in for a trim. mind you, all i wanted was a blunt trim. when i asked the hairdresser to straighten my hair after, she rolled her eyes. i was in and out in maybe 25 minutes, like i was wasting her time. then when i went to pay, somehow a trim and styling made it to $150. today my mom went in for her appointment and they messed up her time. the girl at the front desk was nothing but rude and petty. even though they were the ones who messed up her appointment time, they told my mom she was not allowed back until she paid for her services. like are you kidding me? i wish i could give this place 0 stars. it’s a joke here. just don’t go.edit: they just cancelled my sisters appointment

I was quoted $90 for a full foil. When I went in, I was told that doesnt include the color/bleach! How am I going to get a foil without the color? I felt this was very disingenuous and basically, false advertising. I think the hair dresser did a great job, but I wont be back because of the false advertising.

I have been here a few times and I have always liked what they did with my hair. My last visit felt like a bait and switch, they charged me for having thicker hair, they have never charged me before. Really disappointing. I won’t be back.

I have seen multiple stylists here over the years, most recently/during COVID, Jess. Everyone is very knowledgeable and will make your experience fantastic! Jess was so enthusiastic and encouraging I had zero reservations chopping off 12 inches of hair to donate! She was not only able to put me at ease about a big chop, but also able to get me excited for a new look! JESS IS A BOSS! What is also cool is that the Refinery owners, Sarah and Elizabeth (who also happen to be operators) set her and all of their team up for success. I cant believe I havent posted a review before! Ive been going here for quite a while. As an aging woman hopelessly fighting gray, when I found Refinery my hair was a MESS! Im so thankful I was connected with Jess. She has literally turned my hair life around. She knows her stuff! Shes a color whiz! Also, her cuts are spot on. But then...shes also awesome at extensions. This is a really great salon! I see Hannah and she’s definitely the best! She asks the right questions and is the nicest, most patient stylist I’ve ever had in my life. The space is really nice, roomy, and feels private (no one from outside can watch you get your hair cut). They have a lot of Kevin Murphy product, and some Knick knacks at the front for little cute gifts. The staff is always really kind - I highly recommend this place, and if you’re a guy and want a killer haircut, go see Hannah!! But she does female cuts very well also, my fiancé will ONLY get her hair cut and footer from Hannah.

Haley rescued me from an awful cut I got elsewhere! She is super friendly and knew exactly what would look great on me - I got a compliment on my haircut within 2 hours of getting it!I also like that they dont have a separate rate schedule for men vs women. Instead you just pay by the amount of time you want the stylist to spend. Which is super convenient for quick touch-up/reshape.

I have had great experiences over the last several years at Refinery Salon. Crystal is amazing! She is very skilled at both cuts and color and I love her bayalage color for my blond hair. My last professional cut was Jan 2020. I trimmed my own hair in late August. That was rough, my hair was rough, so I caved and booked an appt after reading reviews. I was a new client as I recently moved to the area. I understand it’s covid, but my cut seemed rushed. I thought it looked “ok” in the salon, just kind of mediocre. I came home and found uneven length comparing each side, a bunch of uncut hairs, and some uneven cutting. Just found a chunk next to my ear that is 3 inches shorter than the other side :/. I’m not sure if it was covid or that I had a 7pm appointment on Fri or what... I won’t be a return client though. Going in really wasn’t worth the covid risk, so my bad ig.After posting this, the salon emailed me to fix the cut. Not going back & already used my home scissors to try to even it a bit.

After having a nightmare at another salon (literally days before giving birth) I came across a recommendation for the Refinery and their ‘blonde specialist’ Brianna. She spent time understanding what I wanted and filled me with so much confidence she could fix my hair! After a two phase approach to fix the damage (and not having me leave with fried hair), I left with a look I love! The salon is great and low key but uses the very best of products. My hair smells and looks amazing and I know I’m in great hands!

Sure maybe they do a good job cutting and coloring hair. But at what cost. They have a terrible record for customer service. First time my wife went here they cancelled her appointment the day of and rescheduled her with a different stylist. (If you cancel the day of they will charge you a fee if they cancel the day of you have no recourse) her second visit they sent a text to the wrong number the day before and that wrong number responded with cancel. Instead of calling her to verify they just cancelled this appointment. Mind you she had to schedule 2 months in advance. Then they offer no apology and no fix for there screw up. Needless to say she will not be returning here. This is more than lack of customer service. This is lack of common human decency.

I love the ambiance here. It is in an old house so feels homey and welcoming. I never have a problem getting an appointment within a week of calling. The stylists are friendly and the prices are comparable to other high-end salons. Easy parking on the street or adjoining lot.

Just had a fabulous experience with Jason who chopped 6 inches off my hair! He was a total sweetheart who listened to me and understood my hair as soon as he put his fingers in it. Overall great service. Hard to find a good stylist for my fine hair, but my stylist, Hailey, is one of the best I have had. I strongly recommend the salon and Hailey.

I was getting tired of the cookie-cutter undercut Ive had for a few years, so I asked Kara to make my hair look good. 30 minutes later I had the nicest layered haircut Ive had in years. Can deal with all types of hair; highly recommended.

After leaving with a haircut that I was less than enthused about, and tried to get used to, I called the salon. The receptionist, along with the Co-Owner, Sarah, were both very understanding and kind in their response. The stylist I had seen had done a nice job, it just wasn’t what I had asked for based on pictures that I had brought. So, to remedy it, I was offered the opportunity to schedule an appointment to have it fixed by Senior Stylist, Rebecca. She made me feel that my concerns were valid, and helped me by explaining what she could do, and listened well to what I had wanted. Within about 30-minutes me hair was looking more like I had imagined, and I felt relieved that she understood what I was hoping for. I left feeling satisfied with my experience, and valued the time the team took to make sure that I was happy with my new hairdo. Thank you, ladies!

I live in Seattle but make the commute to Edmonds just to see Lizzie! Its so nice to sit in her chair and know that if I completely surrender to her, she wont let me down! Shes incredibly talented and has a very good understanding of all hair types. I have very stubborn straight hair and she makes it behave every time. Ive learned so much from her and always feel glamorous when I leave . Lizzie is a sweet lady full of talent. She has a great knack for hiring talented staff. Check them out and feel refined!

The search continues. I understand having a cancelation policy, but food poisoning is not something I can 0lan for 24 hrs in advance. It does not make me want to reschedule and pay a fee when my appointment the day before was canceled because my stylist was sick.

Came across Refinery the old fashion way. I saw someone with amazing hair and asked her where she gets it done and she (strongly) referred me to Sarah. My boyfriend decided to treat me to going here and Im so glad I did!Got in to see Sarah for a full balayage and haircut and am super impressed. First of all, Im pretty picky and a serial monagomist when it comes to my hair. I went to the same person in Tucson, AZ for a decade (even when I lived in San Francisco) but I dont go home often anymore, so, I needed to find someone here. I have dark hair (colored by me) that has not been professionally cut for two years *eh hem grad student* and she was able to lighten it up quite a bit without frying it or walking out looking like Tony the Tiger. She did a great job with the cut-- Ive had a terrible time finding a good hair stylist out here (think football helmet hair cut from Gene Juarez) and Im so glad I was sent her way. My hair looks and feels amazing.The salon is adorable, everyone is really nice and not pushy about buying products or make you feel bad about the condition of your hair. SO looking forward to going back in a couple months! PS: They have MIND BLOWING promotions. Like, woah. >.

I have been looking forward to getting a facial done for some time now, and when I found this highly rated salon so close to my home, I booked an appointment immediately.I was asked to come in at 3:15 for a 15 minuet complimentary skin consultation and a 60 minute signature facial. I arrived few minutes early and was asked to wait. At 3:40 I was still waiting. Then I was ushered into a room by Karissa, asked to change cloths and get ready while she collected all the needed material.She got back after 5-10 minutes and the consultation began. It lasted all of 45 seconds, as she told me about a cleanser with lactic acid that they have available for purchase. It would do wonders for my skin, she said. She started the facial and I didnt object as - Hey! Consultation was free, if she didnt want to spend 15 minutes on it, it was okay with me.As for the facial though - It was the worst I ever had. She was done at 4:30 - not even one minute more! And most of that time was spent wiping my face with hot towels! Seriously! Massage felt more like someone tickling my face with feathers. Karissa mentioned that she was going for a relaxing approach. I guess it was relaxing for her, certainly not for me.In any case, when she announced at 4:30 that we are done, I was outraged - how she performed 75 minuets of promised services in under 40 minuets, and didnt realize it at all, was beyond me. Her response to my questions was - I was not looking at a clock and didnt realize that I was going so fast. To be fair, she did offer to do some extraction (which she had simply ignored during the whole facial process - black and Whiteheads still adorn my nose), but as we were all done with masque application already, I didnt want to risk inflammation caused by extraction with no masque to soothe it.Anyway, I got out of there and went to front desk to make payment. Voila! I was asked to pay $15 more for the complimentary consultation! I really couldnt believe it - Naomi took that $15 off when I explained how bad my experience was, and I left after paying full price for facial.Upon reflection I believe I should have asked them to reduce the price for facial too - I certainly didnt get the promised service, and it was actually total waste of my time.Not going back - ever! Sad part is, I dont think they even care about it.

I recently went in for a standard haircut and color. The staff was very friendly and nice, but I had to dock off a couple stars because their pricing wasnt transparent. I was offered a deep conditioning treatment on my hair for an additional $25. Since my hair was dry and damaged I agreed to it without asking for more details. Big mistake! All she did was apply a little of conditioner to my hair, left it on for no longer than 10 seconds, and washed it off. There goes $25 out the window! In my experience, deep conditioning treatment usually requires a minimum of 20 minutes. Ten seconds of deep conditioning treatment for $25 is a rip-off. At the end, I still received a nice haircut that I was pleased with.The coloring (with another stylist) was even more expensive than expected. I called and asked for the rate before coming in since they said their website doesnt reflect the current pricing. My coloring wasnt even a full head, just root touch up and the color at the end was not much different from my original hair color. Yet, I still get charged the full price (at the stylist rate) plus additional $10 for gloss. Im not sure what that is since I wasnt told about it, but she did put some hair product on my hair at the end (usually should be complimentary) so I guess thats the price for one pump of hair oil.Not sure if I will return because the haircut was great but their price transparency, especially for the additional services makes me uncomfortable.

Seriously love love love this salon! I went in for a last minute eye brow wax and my stylist Jessica gave me a consult on my hair afterwards! We had just been chatting about my red ombré that I attempted at another salon, and she carved out like 10 mins after the wax to help me make a plan. I ended up booking my first hair appointment with her and got some great new guest deals! She totally fixed my red ombré and made it 100000% prettier than I ever imagine! Her creativity, confidence, communication, and technique is seriously what I’ve been looking for these last few years.

I love this salon!!! My first time at this salon was to interview for a front desk job. Although the commute didnt work for me, one day of working in the salon made we want to come back for a service. My stylist was Raychelle and we hit it off right away. I explained that I only had one stylist growing up and she wouldnt let me do what I wanted with my hair. Raychelle listened to all of my wants and recognized my needs as well.We started with balayage to get my hair lighter and lighter until it became this beautiful blonde. After a few visits, Im getting adventurous and asking for undercuts (which I have never ever had clippers to my head)! Im always nervous to try a new place for the first time, but this place has stripped me of that fear. I always leave this place feeling absolutely beautiful and refined. If you are even thinking about checking this place out, DO IT. Thank you so much Raychelle! Youre a rockstar!

If you need someone who can actually cut your hair and color it without messing it up this is the place for you. Been going over 1yr seeing Elizabeth. Worth every penny any then some.Recent transplant from AZ found this place after another salon horribly destroyed my hair. All my life I’ve never had a bad cut /color. I normally feel it’s just hair it’ll grow back. I lamented to a Friend in beauty business in AZ who manages the PNW division for her company and SHE sent me to Elizabeth. “If you want you hair done right see Elizabeth”.I could not have imagined how amazing my hair would be cared for. She speaks fluent “blonde”. My hair has reddish undertones that become very orange when going any color. Including blonde. My blondes always end up yellow/orangey and yucky looking, never a cool blonde without damage. No one ever gets it right. But apparently -Not with Elizabeth. She took my hair to an icy light blonde with no damage to my hair. Also My hair has natural curl so it always gets cuts wet and ends up shorter than planned. Again -Not with Elizabeth. She noticed and stated it prior to even cutting it.Love her energy, love her personality, her genuine love and kindness, but even without all that I’d love her for her hair skill and art form alone. Literally never had hair this healthy and gorgeous. Just ask my husband and he’d agree.
