I have purchased 3 cars from Honda of El Cerrito. My experience using their Service department has not always been great.However, the one bright spot has been working with Mel Santiago. Mel has great interpersonal skills. He’s always takes the time to explain everything that’s going on with my car. Through his professionalism Mr. Santiago makes a sometimes expensive visit pleasant.

Let me start by saying I initially went into Honda of El. Cerrito strictly browsing at vehicles as its something I enjoy as a pastime. What the car needed now and gave an estimate. The estimates are the total price unless something is found.Got the private line to the person who gave the estimate and an accurate time it would be done. Could call him directly and leave a message.The car was done on time, washed and ready to go.I have never felt that the prices were too high or that I was being charged for something I didnt need.Very honest and good service.

I was scheduled for an oil change but when I got there I asked for a quote on fixing the light as well-which was going to add a longer wait time so I opted out. Phillip was great! He quoted me a time and made sure to keep me updated as to when things would be done.. surprisingly he was able to do both the oil and light in a timely fashion. I always appreciate an ‘under promise, over deliver’ type of service, thanks Phillip!

Over the last few months we have worked with several dealers to buy this car as well as another car. Of those several dealers for different brands El Cerrito Honda was very transparent very straightforward and very businesslike. They were the most pleasant to deal with of all of the dealerships. Our salesman was very helpful especially in showing us exactly how to use the car spending about an hour and a half with us. Even the experience with the finance manager was quite good, Unlike the non Honda dealership that where we bought the other car. I would definitely go here in the future when I want to buy another Honda. They are highly recommended.

I had my first service at Honda of El Cerrito on Friday, Oct. 1st. I had Andrew Wong’s contact info from his card when I stopped by a few weeks ago with a question about tire pressure on my Honda Civic. I met Andrew during this drop in visit. Andrew was very professional and polite; he answered my questions about the low tire pressure and put more air in my tires.I emailed Andrew when the service notification popped on my dashboard. Andrew responded right away with an appointment booking.I arrived for my 7:30am appointment five minutes early. I was soon greeted and checked in by Andrew. Andrew said it would be about two hours to service my Honda. I went over to the Honda waiting area. Andrew came over to the waiting area to let me know when my Honda was ready which was less than two hours.Andrew went over my bill and the inspection report. I was very happy with my first appointment at this Honda dealer and the service from Andrew. I’ll be coming back again!

Besides taking care of my care problem (a warranty issue with a/c system that I was not aware of), I appreciate that there was no upselling on services... When asked about getting an oil change since I was already there, the service rep looked at my record and said that it was too early, (about half way through it). That was refreshing.. I thought that since I had last changed about 5 months ago, even with little driving, they would suggest it was due...it was a nice touch and I really appreciated it!

Earlier that week I received a letter stating that my car was under recall for for gas tank problem, the third mind you. Finally reaching an agent after 45 minute wait, I discussed my concern and I left my car. As I was standing on the Bart platform waiting for my train, I received a phone call from the agent I met with stating that that they didnt have the part.My beef is the agent I met with should have known that the part was not available, I thought the whole process was handled poorly, the agent was poorly informed, which means the whole business was unaware of the recall.Id would also like to add, I tried to carry out this process on line, the software was unable to proceed because the recall option was not available.I then tried by way of the chat, the receptionist was confused and didnt have a clue as to what I was requesting and after a long pause. the conversation ended abruptly with no recourse.This is a reflection of big disconnect within the Honda organization, the right hand not knowing what the left hand is doing, screw the customer.

Overall we had a good experience with our vehicle purchase. Our salesperson was out on the lot bright and early and ready to assist us with our vehicle interests. She was motivated, upfront, and honest throughout the entire process. However, the finance manager, who was responsible for negotiating and approving our sales purchase, was impersonal and never came out to meet us. That part of the process was we did not appreciate. Ultimately, it was because of our salespersons efforts that we completed our vehicle purchase. She did everything she needed to do and it was a pleasure to work with her.

I went to El Cerrito Honda to get a Honda that was perfect for me. Unfortunately, when I arrived someone had already made a offer. I had drove quite a distance and had been looking for a car for a long time so was pretty upset. However Jesus was so kind he turned my mood around. He was the most sincere Dealer that I ever dealt with. He assured me that I would get the car I needed and I did the next day!! Please go to Honda Ell Cerrito and ask for Jesus . You will not be sorry. He is sincere and so helpful. He was a bright spot when I had been dealing with the unexpected need to buy a car during these difficult times.

TLDR: Consistently delayed hours for routine maintenance due to staffing issues. Staff members are incredibly kind though.Ive used El Cerrito four times for routine maintenance - oil change and tire rotation. On my first appointment I waited 30 minutes to be checked in. After an hour and a half they had finished the service.On my second appointment I waited over an hour in line after my scheduled appointment time to be seen. I was told the service would be delayed - after four hours my car was finished.On my third appointment, after receiving numerous emails from the dealership requesting me to schedule a maintenance appointment, I was turned away and told to return two months later because I was too early.On my most recent appointment I was checked in thirty minutes after my appointment time. I was explicitly told that they were already running behind two hours after open due to short staffing issues. My oil change would take between 3 and 4 hours.Ive taken my car to a different Honda Dealership for the same routine maintenance which took thirty minutes. Theres a simple solution for El Cerrito - hire additional mechanics or stop scheduling so many people.That being said, I want to emphasize that the associates and mechanics themselves are incredibly friendly and apologetic about the delays. They always have done great work. This issue seems to be more systematic and rests on whoever manages the dealership.I value my time and will absolutely not be returning to El Cerrito.

I have been taking my Honda for maintenance service for 15 years since I bought it at El Cerrito Honda. I have always received excellent service at this location from the service advisors and technicians who are professional, personable and always friendly. This year my service advisor was Mel Santiago who was excellent. He was very professional, personable, friendly and took the time to explain and answer any questions I had. He made sure to inform me of any findings from the multi-point inspection as it progressed and allowed me to make the decision to resolve any issue without pressure. Mel was also considerate to the point he found me a cell phone charger when my phone battery went dead which I truly appreciated. I will definitely return to El Cerrito Honda the next time my vehicle requires service.

Mr. Don Saechao, my service manager, was simply the best. He took personal care of my bringing in my 2007 Accord, and carefully walked me through the required maintenance. Don ensured that all work was very necessary, and that all his recommendations were based on his years of experience, and he applied his top customer relation skills.I would also like to recognize Dons colleague, Mr. Mel (I regret I dont have Mels last name) who completed my close out, and pickup of the Accord. I drove all the way from Vacaville to see a vehicle, I initially spoke with a Bryan, but once I got there I was greeted by Sergio Fernandez. He made me feel extremely comfortable! He was so knowledgeable about not only the car I was interested in, but other various makes and models! He was very comfortable instructing and knowing the inner workings of the cars. He also addressed my concerns about “car health” offering/ notifying me of extra warranties available, especially since I was coming to see a used vehicle. I would love to work with him agian ! I worked with Kareem who was extremely patient, listened to what was important to me in a vehicle, and was able to quickly match me with a vehicle that fit my criteria. I initially went to explore my options, I had no idea what I wanted. I didn’t feel pressured in the least bit. The process went rather smoothly. He assisted with getting my vehicles(old and new) home, also checked to see how things were going a few days after and found a remedy to my only quip (having an open/viewable trunk area). I would recommend this dealership but most notably Kareem. Dealerships can be intimidating but he made the experience seamless and easy.

I really want to appreciate Freddie the Assistant Manager in the Service department for helping me figure out my car battery issue. I bought a brand new CRV in April and the Honda dealership that I purchased the car from was trying to convince me that the bad battery wasnt covered under warranty. Freddie was able to diagnose my car, and took care of the issue within an hour. He was extremely transparent about the warranty coverage that I should have had (it seems like the other Honda dealership was trying to lie to me) and gave me the best customer service. Ive used Honda Services exclusively for 20 years and always had a stellar experience, until I started using this location.Its been shockingly awful.Their staff are dismissive and callous.Their Appointments are meaningless, youll be waiting for 2 hours to even talk to someone, then get shuffled into another line to wait just as long.

I worked with Mohommed- very friendly, polite, professional, patient, good humor. Service always takes longer than I plan for, but they have a clean, bright spacious area to wait, with wifi and tables, so Im able to be productive while I service my car. Everything is explained along the way with updates (Mohommed actually comes to find me and tell me whats going on), and I get a well tuned, clean car at the end of the morning. All good!

My wife and I were looking for a car for our son and came across a listing at the El Cerrito Honda dealership. We had gone to other dealers and test drove other cars, so our expectation was a hard sell approach like we experienced previously. Ashton called me back and we set up a time to test drive the car. Unlike any other experience at a car dealership, very genuine and eager to meet our needs. Ashton was a complete no pressure sales person, her demeanor was very patient and she put up with my scrutinizing every aspect of the Honda CRV we went to see.When we test drove the car, she allowed us to drive it on the freeway for a few miles to get the feel of the car, and provided easy directions to follow navigating our way back to the dealership. When it came time to talk numbers, she was very informative of all options we could choose and we settled on a 36 month powertrain warranty since the car we were purchasing had a good amount of miles. Rick, the sales manager, also explained that their warranty covers seals and gaskets, which is what can be a concern with the amount of miles the vehicle had. Frankly we didn’t consider the warranty until it was explained in detail. Rick also provided a discount on our warranty which was gratefully appreciated. Rick was also able to beat the interest rate we were pre-qualified for saving us substantial cost over the loan term. All options were explained by the finance manager, and the whole process went smoothly. My wife and I can’t say enough good things about our experience, and we will be recommending Hendrick El Cerrito Honda to our friends and family. Ask for Ashton, she is a real gem.
