Thought I needed new brakes, but after the inspection they said I did not need them yet. They were able to getting in immediately. It takes at least two weeks to get a vehicle in other shops In the area. . As I have a warranty on the vehicle I wanted the rule out any problems that arent covered. They told me what was actually wrong (covered) without charging a diagnostic fee that many other places charge. Got an oil change and air filter for just $9 more than my usual oil change place charges for just the oil change. If you are not sure about you brake go there and they will tell you, and the price is not bad if you actually do need them replaced.

Lewis the owner at Merlin was great polite courtesy knowledgeable assistant manager was fantastic he was doing the guy that worked on my car was great if its not broken they dont fix it and the fair with their price and their friendly and I recommend going to there Ive been going to Merlin with Luis for years and years and years never had a bad experience I recommend him very highly

Very trustworthy - hard to find that these days. Had a manifold leak. They gave a good price to fix - better than other places that I received an estimate from. Also when on lift they showed where the leak was and after fixing showed me the damaged old manifold. They also showed me the new manifold after it was installed. Great work and 24,000 miles warranty. Fantastic. Service manager Joe goes out of his way for you and to explain, etc.

Kudos to Joe for giving us only what we needed. Did not try and make us buy a whole new muffler when a weld and bracket got the job done! It would have been a very expensive fix otherwise! I will recommend Merlin in South Elgin to anyone needing a fair and honest place!!

I went in for tires and had no issues gathering quotes on tires. However, I was disappointed days later when I made an appointment to have my car aligned and have the coolant flushed. I was unable to get either performed due to the incompatibly of the tools and my vehicle.

We had an immediate need to get a used car inspection for a car we wanted to purchase and Merlin got us in within minutes of arrival. Then, they diagnosed needed repairs that we wouldve never seen with an untrained eye. They were very thorough. It was a job well done. On top of it all, the inspection was free. I hit a curb on the way to work out there during a snow storm. Knew I at least needed an alignment. Went to another place near Merlins and was told I needed 2 tie rods too and the price would be $403. I stopped by this Merlins to price check. I told Ace, the owner, that I thought I was about to be raped by the first place with extra work. He said he knew that shop owner and they dont do that. That right there was great to hear someone not bash a competitor. He offered to do it for $260, told me it would be between 1.5 - 3 hours because he had to pick up the parts. It was done in 2hrs. I was extremely happy.... finally, he had this calmness about him the entire 2 hours I was in there. He just radiated peacefulness. If I am ever in the area again I will there for any work to be done on my veh.

Just replaced my ball joints, upper control arm, and tie rods... I needed an alignment and there were 3 places. I was able to just come in and within an hour they were done. Very helpful!! Thanks guys!

I have been taking my Subaru to this shop since Summer of 2013. I have nothing but positive experience with Ace (owner) and the entire staff at this Merlins location. I would highly recommend this shop because I trust them with my car and they provide the best services at great prices.

I love this place. Ive only had minor preventive maintenance done (oil change and tire rotation), but the service is always fast, friendly and efficient. No upsells, no gotchas, and the prices are fantastic.

This place is easily the cheapest in term of most auto repairs. Theyll do free inspections which is awesome. However, I think their service is really crappy. I had my lower intake manifold gasket replaced which cost several hundred bucks and I just replaced it myself the other day because another shop found it was leaking. How they messed it up is beyond me.I also got my spark plugs changed here since it was the lowest price. One of the spark plugs somehow came defective and I had to pay around $100 to get that issue fixed. Ace seems to be a smart and cool guy, but I doubt Ill be taking my car back. Once they replaced my oil, without even telling me, when I just put in fully synthetic oil two months before that. What the hell?!The place is OK. They have great deals for their 200,000 mile service packs, but its likely to be really crappy products.

Having had my share of varying experiences with auto repair shops, Im happy to say that this was a very enjoyable experience! I found the manger and mechanics here to be very friendly and helpful! They even took the extra time to show me what needed repair as well as being very up front and honest throughout the process with the estimated time needed and costs. I would highly recommend this shop if you are looking for a reliable place to take your car.

Ace is a great guy, very friendly and doesnt try to oversell me on anything. Ive been taking my Maxima in for years now, and have always been pleased with the service and his integrity.Im taking my wifes Honda Pilot in for new tires. I called around to get the best out the door cost, and Ace once again, had the best price for the same tires.

Upfront about pricing, timely repairs, affable dude at the front desk. Resonator repaired, car has gone from a vicious growl to an almost invisible purr.

This place is full of it. Had muffler done there last year. Issue with pipe going into muffler and it need to be replaced. Quoted me $317. Took it to Cats auto in Schaumburg $129. Plus had oil change done there told me needed suspension work but already had it done at Cats took it to third party to be sure and it was fine. These guys are a scam. Its farther to Cats but well worth it.

Had multiple experiences where I was not a 100% satisfied with the service and was convinced into paying that this was the best fix. One such instance was AC repair where I was charged a lot and then later told that it was just a test if u had a leak. If you want that leak fixed, now you have to pay more.

Owner is super cool and well knowledgeable. I would recommend this place to everyone!

Good shop to get your vehicle fixed.

Horrible experience. I went for an oil change. The mechanic said he was struggling with the hood, I went to help him open it. Within a couple minutes the owner came out and said that he didnt want to deal with this, because he wasnt going to work for free and he was sure I wasnt going to pay for 100dollars an hour while they opened it. The only reason I can think of that caused him to be rude is that he was worried that he could be liable if his mechanic had done something to it. I was able to open the hood myself shortly after leaving. I do not recommend this place!!

I was put off by my experience with another repair shop in south Elgin xxxxxx wrench,I took my vehicle to merlin for some work I though it needed Ace the owner called me and he didnt sell me on unnecessary repairs or parts I needed,they fixed my problem and the price was better than I thought,thanks for a honest and professional repair shop that gets it right the first time
