Not sure about the negative reviews because this place was banging. The beers (IPA & coffee stout) were delicious and so was my spud. The service was fantastic. Before I took my last sip, my waitress was already on her way over to ask if she could get me anything else. I will definitely be coming back to this cozy place. Thanks!
Good beer, great atmosphere but wish the space was bigger. Definitely gave us that UK feeling. Food was awesome. Fresh made, had the sausage roll dinner. Even ran into customers from our home state who were also vacationing. Meal prep is on the slower side so sit back and sip your beer then order another for your meal definitely worth the wait.
One of the best breweries we have ever been too, and we go to a lot of them. Food was outstanding. Best food at a brewery Ive ever had and the drinks were phenomenal. Bought a few canned after tasting their flight. Wish their beer made its way too Connecticut so we can have some more around the area.
Christina is a wonderful hostess, bartender, barback, waitress, mixologist and food runner. Awesome, happy energy emanates from her and is infectious making it a good time at Airline. The food is delicious! Clam chowder is the best Ive had. I like that its got body and not super thick with flour. Its wonderfully seasoned with herbs and not overly salted. Beers are fantastic. They have 12 beers on draft and 4 on hand pumps. We ordered the Cornish Pasties and it moved the Earth. The pastry was flaky and filled with tender chunks of flavorful beef. On the side were fresh peas that popped in your mouth and fresh mashed potatoes. Definitely drop by this gem of a pub.
Great little English pub. The clam chowder was among the best I’ve ever had. Nicely appointed.
I hate to write this. I really do. I did not expect this at all, especially with these reviews. Three years of good service and this was the worst I can remember having. Our server (blonde) was absent for literally 45 minutes. The waitress with the brown hair was sweet and apologized for the wait when she handed me my food. But I had to flag my waitress down once for a drink after she walked by two times once the first time I came in. She walked by us a total of four times after we got our food and didn’t acknowledge us to ask about our burger I paid for, but didn’t get bacon on. I fully understand a shortage of food, of servers, or everything, but she had two other tables to care for. My girlfriend’s soup was cold, and the only time the waitress came to acknowledge me was when our food was done. She apologized for the wait and gave me a discount on the food, which I respect, but didn’t acknowledge me once other than to give me my check and to greet me. Don’t come here for good food or good service, but try the oatmeal stout! It’s fantastic.
Had a great meal here recently. The staff worked their butts off to wait on a full house the entire time we were there. Still, the waits werent very long and the food was well worth it. They do not have a full bar and there are very few options for dietary restrictions. (I was able to remove items from my dish to accommodate.) We definitely would visit again.
Very cute little pub that is family friendly. The bartender/hostess was very nice and the food was great. My husband tried 2 of their beers. I dont usually like beer, but my husband got the pub ale and I actually liked the taste of it. We would love to stop in here again on our next trip to Maine.
Awesome little place, serving some traditional English dishes and beer. Seating is limited, so make sure you plan ahead. We found it on our trip to New England while driving in to the Bar Harbor area. Glad we found a unique and memorable place!
Great pet friendly place with good beer selection. Wood fired pizza is good too. Wish they had more options in pizza(cuz their pizza is good) but I was glad that even had something to eat, not every brewery does.
We stopped in here after a day of driving and loved the relaxed cozy atmosphere. The waitress was also hostess and bartender, but she was attentive and very friendly. We ordered the beer cheese dip with our entrees which was so delicious. Great way to start our time in the area!
This is a cute pub nestled in on Main Street. It gives you the feel of an English pub. The atmosphere is wonderful. The booth we were in was a bit uncomfortable. The main meal was a bit bland but the appetizers were very good.I will definitely go back and try another meal. Any style of potato was delicious and the stuffed mushrooms were wonderful too.It was full when we arrived and we were simply told there were no tables. My name was not taken and we left. Luckily we went outside and just waited. Within a minute a couple left and we went inside. Perhaps a slightly inexperienced crew was working that day.All in all I am looking forward to giving this lovely pub another visit.
Went for the peanut butter stout and a quick bite. Was told the peanut butter stout is only sold to go. Considering it is fall, I’m not a genius but it should probably be on tap and at the very least sold to someone asking for it regardless, unless you’d like to skip the point of owning a business which is profit/revenue. Table was sticky (was told to reiterate how sticky the entire table was, maybe it is a special wood that produces sap once turned into furniture). Bangers and mash crossed off menu, although ingredients were seemingly there or should not be difficult to have consistently unless the inventory manager cannot count. Food was pretty good, music was nice. Given it is supposed to be a brewery and being told a specific beer is to go only warrants the two star.
Got our drinks quickly, and they were good, but thats the end of the good experience. When server came to drop our drinks he didnt ask if we were ready to order (we were). He never came back so we finally ordered at the counter. Food took a little long to come, mine was very underwhelming. I got the classic baked potato, and though it was what was described on the menu, it was very disappointing. Just a baked potato, sliced in half, with melted cheese dropped on it. Potato not fluffed, cheese not flavorful, no salt or seasoning to speak of(had to ask for salt at the bar). I expected something better for $10. My partner got the steak pie and his was well made and good. The main problem here is that we were never checked on, no asking if it was ok, no offer of another drink (ours were empty with our first bite), absolutely nothing. There were 2-3 servers/bartenders behind the bar the whole time we were there, more then enough for there to be some customer service. When the check came it was dropped and server left, even though our wallet was out and we were pulling out a card. Beer was good, looked like if you sat at the bar you got constant service.
Not a great experience. The pub was pleasant enough, but from start to finish the meal was disappointing. Middle of the afternoon. Not busy, 2-4 tables with customers, a couple at the bar. Two servers and a bartender. We got seated at a table that needed to be wiped down. Two quick swipes and we were left with a sticky table. I used my napkin to finish the job. The beer was pricey. It cost me $6 for 10 oz. The beer was insipid. Watery and not appealing. Ordered nachos. Other than the sliced peppers and the corn chips it had no connection to Mexican food. It seemed more like poutine, just a mild white cheese sauce. Oh well.
Beer was good as well as friendly staff (she was managing a packed bar and dining space)! We enjoyed our flight and even bought some to go. Will be back for the drinks and atmosphere.
Casual local brewery; tasty & respectable brews. I had the Peanutbutter Stout, and it was wonderful! The brew pub is a one-woman operation, so be patient; you will be served.
Cottage Pie and Red Ale. What a great combination. A return trip guaranteed try try the rest of the menu. A small but homey place. Go early, it fills up quickly.
Ordered 2 half pints, one was a peanut butter stout which smelled delicious and tasted even better, highly recommend! Then I was going to get a blackberry cider but was recommended by the bar tender to get a penitentiary butter stout with a splash of the blackberry cider to make a PB&J anda guess what, it was freaking delicious and really did tasted like a PB&J! Also highly recommend this combo. The bartender and the vibe of the place was very friendly and welcoming. Will look forward to coming back here if I’m ever back in town!
Food good. Atmosphere good. Beer good. Service SUCKED. my hubby had to go up to bar to get things we ordered but never received 4 times. Like silverware! Waitress seemed annoyed by us for asking.
Logan ran the entire pub alone then 1 cook delivered the food he made for about 30 people constantly rotating. We bought a 4pack of their peanut butter stout but their oatmeal and coffee stouts were delicious! They also had 4 delicious ciders on tap. Maniac og and their original blend ciders were out favorites.
Hello Mike Towne, Alaina Towne, David Aguilar, Susan Markus. I just want to respond to your 1 star reviews of our home town pub. You can clearly see by this picture that they DO seat parties of 5. It’s pretty sad that you felt the need to be so petty and hurt their excellent ratings because your feelings got hurt.Occasionally, there are people “from away” that don’t appreciate the local Maine way of life. We get up early, work hard, and when it’s close to closing time, we might get a little cranky. That being said, I HIGHLY doubt the bartender slammed the door in your face. I think you guys are just a bit touchy, and I really hope your attitude changes while you are here visiting....cause the locals can only take so much of that nonsense.....Relax, enjoy your trip, and show up a little earlier next time. We go to bed early around here.
Faced with few options during the later hours of a long day of travel towards Acadia, this place warmed our spirits with great beer, satiating food options, and generous hospitality. Might I suggest the Chocolate cherry stout and beer cheese, phenomenal is an understatement!
Fun pub full of character. Sandwiches were tasty and sister also enjoyed a stout. Server was friendly and the vibe was super chill :)
This place is an absolute hidden treasure. Our second day in this part of Maine, staying just outside of Acadia, we decided to look for a restaurant outside of tourist-land in the hopes of finding a spot that the locals respect, and frequent.Walking into Airline Brewing, you immediately feel its authenticity, rich wood paneling, hand pumped beer taps and a full room sporting smiles and laugher, the atmosphere was contagious. As we sat down, we knew this was a special kind of spot to stumble upon.Being big fans of traditional UK fare, my fiance and I picked our favorites, Bangers & mash, and a Steak & Ale pie. The food was flat out incredible. I cant think of a better pub than this one.For any and all future visitors. Dont think...just eat here
Looking forward to trying this place out. Unfortunately, we werent able to try the food. Small, cramped, enough seating for a half dozen, not much more. This would be fine before covid, but during doesnt make sense. More so where most restaurants have gone to outside seating when able. Could care less what your thoughts are on this whole covid mess. But if you have a family member (child) that is immune compromised. Youll understand not wanting to dine here, even if its just you and your spouse.
We came here on a Monday night. They were fairly busy and had run out of many staple foods like the shepherds pie. We ordered a couple of pub burgers, clam chowder, and the steak ale pie.Its very typical of British pub food without much flavor with inconsistency of the food temperature. I felt like I was actually in England. The beer was pretty good. The service was rushed, but I wont hold that against them because they were busy.
Quesadillia was served on a bed of soggy/browning Romain lettuce. Had to ask for sour cream that it was supposed to come with. Quesadillia tasted like a child made it.Good beer and cute place though. Just dont eat here.
Very friendly place. The Cornish Pasty was excellent. The drink collection was very good. We surely enjoyed our dinner there.
If want a nice meal at a fair price with a good microbrew? This place is hard to beat. Small building but worth the wait to get in. Irish themed room was excellent and the waitress was friendly.
It would be difficult to know what their food or drinks are like because as soon as we walked in the server told us they are not serving a group of 5 and then turned around and sat 3. I then asked again if we could wait for a table to open for 5 and she told us the kitchen was not taking groups of 5 . Right behind me there was a table of 5 sitting down. Place looked nice but first impression of service was rude.
Beer was delicious but food was sub par. Ambience is great and places to sit are minimal but perfect for the British pub feel. Only place open on a Monday evening.
Great crafted beer. Amazing dinner. Shepards pie fabulous also steak pasty dinner.
We were lucky enough to happen upon this littleEnglish Pub, the food was delicious. From the moment we were met at the door we felt like we were treated as old friends, the staff is great. I only wish this pub was located a half hour west of Boston.
Imo, an excellent wee pub with great beers! They have a selection of cask ales, including a Scottish Export, which literally no one brews. Its a proper Scottish beer, light and malty and no peak smoke as many attribute to a Scotch Ale. They also offer food. We only tried the pub pretzels, but they were very nice. It was wonderful to find a brewpub serving proper British style ales. If something stronger is what you require, they have a fine selection of Scotch to please the Scotch heads among you. If youre in the area; its a must see.
The toasties are amazing!could eat a dozen of those in one go. The donut cider was my favorite
Went there once for drinks. Had the nachos. These are by far the best nachos Ive had in the entire state of Maine and Ive traveled most of it! Great quick and amazing customer service. The bartender was amazing both times. Coming around at the right times for updates on drinks. Alcoholic drinks there are fantastic! These nachos top my list easy! Well done!
The atmosphere was quaint and cozy. The food, beer, and service were all excellent. Thanks Christina!
The atmosphere is awesome. You can feel the old world pub vibe. Partly because of beer and food selection, and partly because its in an old pub.The food: the managing partner (my wife) had the steak and ale pie. Her exact words were its soooo good. Way better than yours. So kudos you have beaten me. LolI had the sausage roll. The sausage was a nice British style. It was fantastic. The mash was delicious and the peas were good. The beers were beautiful. My favorite was their pub ale which was a mild bitter. If you are in Ba Habah, take the drive to Ellsworth. Stop in here for a bite and pint and than thank me.
Cute little bar, okay beer and good selection. Typical bar food slightly UK style
Great beer! GOOD service! Excellent food! Small and busy place get there early.
Loved the small, intimate environment. Had a great beer selection of many different varieties.
Wanted a farmstand salad to go but that was not available. Instead got a garden salad which for nine bucks was not up to par. When arrived at the hotel there was no salad dressing and no dinnerware. Called the restaurant and the receptionist seemed not too enthusiastic to correct the problem. I would have had to drive back to the restaurant to get a credit or salad dressing or what she called a free desert. Was not worth the drive. Won’t do that again
Nice little bar my Reuben was great and they had a nice variety of drinks
Great food, great atmosphere. Will be back again
Really nice small, emphasize small, brewpub. Good pub fair and good beers.
Great pumpkin cider. My friend like booth beers he tried.
Went in looking for a nice meal with my family. Right away we turned away and told they wouldn’t serve us. Shortly after a family of 5 was seated, so we asked if they would be able to serve us, a table of 5 too. Once again we were turned away.
Great food and great beer. Staff is friendly. Lost the 5th star on seating. Not much seating so there’s a good chance on waiting to seat.
A small brewery with a good beer list. We had already had dinner so we only had dessert which was yummy. Their NEIPA was pretty good, not as hazy as some but full of flavor.
Superman behind the bar handles the whole place Nd never missed a beat. Loved it.
Excellent chicken ceaser salad and burgers! I get takeout often from here.
Very short staffed. Taking that into account, it was 1 hour plus to get a roast beef panini and a cup of soup. The panini was burnt and beer, while satisfactory, could not carry the experience.
Small, cozy, and delicious. If youre going to eat anywhere in Ellsworth then eat here. There can be a wait to get in sometimes, but its worth being patient.
Really great beer. The ambiance is fun. Wood molding on the walls that flows into red leather topped benches gives it a cozy, pub feel. My husband and I love coming here for dinner and a beer.
Cute little pub. Good British food and beer. Blueberry cider was amazing too.
Amazing crew at Airline Brewing. We had a great time!
Very small seating area and bar that can reach capacity very quickly. On tap beers were very good.
Hubby and I stopped by there for lunch and had their potato skins, chili, hamburger and steak pie. The blueberry cider I ordered was beyond delicious! And their chili was to die for! The steak pie was great but I was at a point in which I was way too full to enjoy it. Nonetheless, the service was very great, friendly staff, clean place and superb food. I highly recommend it.
The beer was fantastic... ALL of it, and that rarely happens. A tad overpriced and the only server was clearly overwhelmed. Would go back though.
Great brewpub! The beer is excellent, broad selection and always at least one cask conditioned beer available. But one would expect as much from a brewpub. What makes this place special is top notch and unusual pub fare... Traditional and healthy choices too, with some great unique features, such as the new grilled Reuben wrap which is to die for. Amy, our server could not have been more pleasant or more helpful. This is a great stop that will not disappoint!
Great craft beer - I love to visit with my friend John from Liverpool. Food is great - a good time was had by all.
We stopped off here for lunch and a drink on our way out of Ellsworth, the atmosphere and the people were awesome. It was a great time and a lot of fun. Great selection of beers and ales and even ciders. Worth stopping for sure if youre in the area.
Friendly service, cozy pub atmosphere and great down-home food. Loved the chili.
Really loved the atmosphere. The staff were friendly and helpful. The beer and food were excellent. Im quite picky and they nailed every dish. Sticky toffee pudding anyone?
Excellent spot. Great service, lots of great beers and the sausage roll was very tasty!
This place is a hidden gem. The pub ale is the quintessential beer and they have a lot of other great options. The food was very good, and the service was great.
Their stout is some of the tastiest Ive ever had. Also, super cool bar tender working on Fridays when we stopped by.
It was the only place open on a Monday evening after hiking in Acadia all day. Food was great, beer was cold, and I loved the quaint setting.
Great chili and tortilla chips. Friendly crowd.
We did not have a good experience. The 15 minute wait we were told turned into 45. Once seated, my family ordered a salad, nachos, a cheese quesadilla and a Reuben quesadilla... And it took almost 55 minutes to get our food. I had the Reuben quesadilla and while it was tasty, there was hardly anything inside of the tortillas. One of the quarters of my daughters cheese quesadilla had only a few shreds of unmelted cheese in it. I was not impressed. When the bill came we were charged for a beer and a dessert that we didnt have. Our waitress did correct the duration and offer her apologies.
Great selection of beers in an authentic UK pub atmosphere, but surprisingly small.
Walked in and the bartender was immediately rude. She said “We’re full.” She said it in a very rude manner, as I’m get out. So we left and went to “86 This” where the burrito was delicious. So skip this place and visit 86 This.
Cute place, was very busy, waiter was very attentive. Good vibe, good food, good beer
Great food and even better service. That poor bartender was taking care of the entire place and doing it very well.
Phenomenal atmosphere and delicious food! Highly recommend the steak and ale pie. Thanks to Roman for the stellar service!
Good food, good beer, and great service for one night in Maine.
Great food. Comfortable accommodations. Can be very noisy. Excellent small bar.
The food was really good and the blue berry cider is even better
Very uncomfortable dinning area extremely small. Did not even stay for food.
We came into a warm comfortable pub. The waitress/barkeep was helpful and attentive. We enjoyed an amazing chocolate stout and dinner of Steak and Ale Pie as well as another meat and potato’s dish and the shared a yummy blueberry dessert. This was the best meal I have had on our trip. Really relaxed enjoyable restaurant. This is pub food done right!!
Went in to get a table for 5 and was immediately told that they would not serve us in a incredibly rude manner. The bar tender seems irritable and unfriendly. Very bad experience I would skip this if you are looking for a place to eat later in the evening.
Don’t waste your time, rude hostess. Told us that they don’t take reservations & it was first come first serve, so we waited outside & when we saw another couple go inside, went in and questioned them & she was very rude.
We were told to wait for a table to sit our party of 5 and ended up waiting for at least 45 minutes. They sat smaller parties because of limited seating and we were told a larger party would be leaving. However another party of 4 went in and was sat in our spot. They offered an apology but nothing else they could do. They stated they did not take names for waiting and as it ended up someone else gave our table away.
Cozy pub with local craft beer & good sandwiches
Avoid Wednesday evening the bartender isnt very nice. Other than that the food and the beer is good.
Different and great! Great staff!!
I would skip this place late at night. My family was looking for a nice place to sit down and eat with the 5 of us and the second we walked in they turned us away in a rude manner but then proceeded to sit a family of 4 as we walked out, to follow that, as we walked out the bar tender shut the door ON MY FACE. SKIP THIS PLACE
Great service, the bartender was really nice and helpful! Food was great too and theres a lot of different beers available.
Good array of beer, great food, recommend. They don’t specialize in IPAs which is a nice break from the mainstream IPA’Holics. They make a nice red ale, a bomb imperial stout, good white stout and other good beers and they offer flights and 5oz which is huge for me. Their pastry pies are really good as well as their sandwich toastys. They also sell growlers. Definitely worth a visit.
