I called up asking for a Hobie Lynx with color papyas, Dale didnt have that but worked out a deal where he was able to swap some colors with others so I didnt have to wait for a new order that would have stretch it out by months. I was able to pick it up within a few weeks. Dale also gave me some credit back for some discoloration which was a great bonus. Thank you for the smooth transaction.
Ordered a canoe from these people in March of 2021. They took a $150 dollar deposit. The woman I talked to said I would have it by May I had a trip planned for the beginning of June, so I was looking forward to doing it it a new canoe. It didnt arrive on time. Each time I called to check I was given an excuse (lie) about shipping problems. It was always apparently coming on the next shipment. First it was supposed to be June 1st. Then it was June 10th. I called again towards the end of July and Dale called me back and informed me I could cancel my order but would not be getting my deposit back. He actually said that my canoe was to come in July. I was almost certain that was a lie as it was almost the end of July. I was right, he was lying. It is now October and have yet hear from them. I was only informed that my deposit was non-refundable in the email I received after my phone call. At first I was fine with that as I assumed my order would be fulfilled within a few weeks as I was told when I placed my order. Ill be calling again soon to get the runaround again.
Lots of stuff. Reasonable prices and a nice helpful staff
Great people! This is one of the best experiences I have had purchasing a product. Everyone was helpful and knowledgeable and treated me with respect and kept me informed. I ordered a trailer and Old Town AP which took 6 months to get, but they kept me informed the entire time. And the delivery went better than I could expect. I will be a repeat customer!
Best boat store on the east coast. My third kayak/canoe, thanks folks.Jeff Holt🛶
Dwayne was wonderful in helping me find the right kayak. At 64 / 250 lbs, I am not a one size fits all kind of guy. I got a Necky 14 with a rudder and cannot be happier. The kayak is super fast (especially for a sit on top) and the rudder makes it fun to twist through low hanging tree limbs. Thanks for helping me find a way to really enjoy being on the water.
After doing tons of research, test paddles, talking to people, I went into Lancaster Marine to buy a pretty high end fishing kayak. I wanted to buy from them because I live very local. The only employees I saw in the hour I spent playing with their kayaks avoided eye contact lime I had the plague.I left, drove to the land of tax free shopping, and bought my cool new kayak. That was two weeks ago, and now I need a trailer or roof rack. I thought there was just no way I’d get ignored again. I was wrong. After being ignored again, I got in an employees face, and asked if there was anyone who could answer questions about a Yakima. He sighed, said he guessed that was him, and started to walk over to show me.He actually then ignored me to talk to a customer that came in after me.The Yakima won’t work, and I really want the trailer I was ready to buy if the rack wasn’t an option, but I guess I’ll have to drive again. Fascinating business model.
Phenomenal service, extensive knowledge, very patient, very friendly, overall I wouldn’t go anywhere else for my Boston whaler/Mercury motor!
I ordered my kayak march 17th. Its august 13 an still no Kayak. The customer service from Dale and the rest of staff has been neglegent and Disrespectful at best! Promises to communicate or call back never fulfilled. Only offerd a kayak if I paid an xtra 400to upgrade and shipping went from under 300 to over 550 closer to 600. Refusing a refund. Im currently fighting to get my money back through the bank but initial results may not be in my favor. DO NOT BUY HERE! CURRENTLY IM OUT 2199$ WILL UPDATE AGAIN!
This is a family run business when I was there they had four generations on site working. They are extremely knowledgeable about their products, and serve the boating community from cradle to grave for material and servce.... overall a great place to work with.
After waiting what seemed like forever for a boat trailer, it was finally ready today. Isaiah and the the entire Team at Lancaster Marine were very apologetic for the delay explaining that due to Covid-19, everything was delayed. The entire staff are extremely helpful. Despite how busy Lancaster Marine is, today my wife and I felt like their only customer! Thank you for the excellent service!
Great family run business. Everyone is friendly and very knowledgeable. Did I mention extremely patient too when I was selecting a kayak where there was so many choices. I think with their help I picked the best yak for my needs and skill level. Thanks
I ordered a Hobie PA14 360 and a trailblazer trailer! I was told that I was going to receive my items early April! That never happened, the timeline continued to get pushed back.Dale could never give me any kind of date after missing the original timeline, I called hobie direct and got information that it was gong to be late june in April. I found another dealer with hobies on stock! I called Dale offered to buy the trailer which was around 4k with add ons told him they could keep the 400.00 deposit for the. Kayak. He refused stating non sales can be canceled and no refunds on deposits. I was left opening a dispute through my bank and I believe they purposely rode the dispute out to the maximum of 45 days, and never sold me anything. Thank God I won my dispute! Cant believe they refused to sell me a 4,000 dollar trailer.Bought both trailer and kayak at delware paddle sports in a matter of days. Awesome customer service glad they got my 9,000 dollars
If you like spending more than an hour waiting and never getting waited on, this is your place!I have been there twice. First time was pre-pandemic on a Saturday and they were busy, so I wrote it off as just them being really busy. Never got waited on.But today it was a Friday afternoon and only one other customer in the store. The salesman went in the office and kicked back on the phone instead of waiting on us. I will spend my money somewhere else.
Dont have boats any more just have kiaks
Great selection knowledgeable staff great overall experience.
Good place with alot of inventory. We were able to find a boat we didnt know existed but fit our needs perfectly. With the pandemic there were ordering delays but the level of communication and professionalism made the experience stress free.
I wrote a review a few months ago when we purchased our kayaks in May that I was a little worried about their stance towards wearing masks in the store....maybe I just wanted them to take the virus a little more seriously. We went to pick up our kayaks today and they all wore their masks and made a really nice effort to make us feel comfortable. I totally appreciated that... Dale, Isaiah and Sara were great....wonderful customer service, great knowledge of the kayaks. All around great experience.
Inventory is good but not willing to deal. All about supporting local but they are overpriced. Pushy snobby family business. Wouldn’t buy save your money and go elsewhere.
Purchased hobie kayak about 7 months ago. Used once and bolt fell out of mirrage drive. Took awhile to hear back but finally did
NO RETURNS for a refund, including in stock items. They offer STORE CREDIT ONLY. They have good salesmen, so be sure to do your research before making a purchase.
Bought two kayaks here two years ago, great service, taught us how to out them on our car. Used to have a great selection of lake kayaks and Old Towns. Took a friend today to buy a kayak (he was really ready to buy one). NO practical lake boats, hardly any Old Town lake/river boats. What is worse is no one even acknowledged we were there, no one came to answer our questions. I am stunned with the 180 degree turn in customer service and selection. They lost a sale and two life ling boating customers.
I recently purchased a kayak trailer for a Bicycle for my son’s 14th birthday which cost $350 when I got it home and put it together the trailer was very flimsy and of poor quality. I had to reinforce the cross member that holds the wheels on as they were designed very poorly and my main concern is safety . My son was very excited to get out and ride to the river and launch his new kayak but not even one mile from the house the part that connects the trailer to the bike had broken while he was riding down the street, the trailer does have a safety strap and it was being used but still the kayak had received some scratches. My son called me up and told me what happened and luckily he did not get hurt, I’m in California for work and was unable to help him but he found a friend with a truck to get him home . The trailer I purchased was a joke let alone dangerous and for $350 I totally feel robbed .
Dale, Sara, and the rest of the family are awesome We bought our first kayak a few weeks ago and went back a week later and grabbed another one for the wife. Everyone was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Even though its a 2 hour drive for me, Id definitely go back.
Just stopped in for two tires for a boat trailer.
First and foremost, I have never went out of my way to leave a review in my entire life, positive or negative. My experience at Lancaster county marine was the worst retail/customer service experience I have ever experienced, or even witnessed for that matter. I had spoken to them on the phone earlier today to get a price for a new propeller on my boat, and was given a completely different price when I got there. I am new to boating and was asking for them to educate me on propeller pitches and what pitch would be best for me. I was then told that he knows what he is doing from his 42 years of experience, and it wasnt important as to what propeller he was installing on my boat. This was extremely shady. He said I needed to pay before they would do any work and I would find out what propeller was on my boat when I saw it after they replaced it. When I questioned this, and again what propeller they were using, he claimed I was using him to obtain information. This is absurd, I drove 45 minutes, towing my boat to get this installed. It is 2020, If I wanted information, I would have used google and saved myself an hour and a half of towing a boat, and dealing with an extremely shady business.
Great service. They even stayed open late for me to pick up a kayak before a last minute fishing trip. Would definitely buy from them again.
Dwayne was very informative and enthusiastic about our purchase last week. We spent more than planned on a kayak but its perfect and we have no regrets! Sarah was also great with handling the paperwork and making us feel important even though they were very busy and the phone rang every 2 seconds. She works amazing under pressure. We will be purchasing again!! Jennifer and Sean Yost Lititz PA
What an amazing experience! From the moment I walked in the door until I drove off with my new Hurricane Kayak everything from selection, service, advice, quality and value was way above expectations. I asked dozens of questions and Dale and staff were patient, very knowledgeable, and extremely accommodating. I asked them to install a custom rod holder system and they had it installed within 24 hours! Prices were reasonable and online from my research online and they even have a loyalty program that netted my hundreds in savings. The advice and guidance is worth a trip to this place alone. Couldnt be happier!
I bought a used boat from here about 2 weeks ago. I love the boat, just disappointed in the service. I was told that my boat had a tune up, it was ready to hit the water and that it was a very reliable boat. I had it on the water twice so far and had trouble with the engine randomly shutting off and puttering. I called to speak to Duane on Saturday and was told he was busy and would call me back. I still havent gotten a call back (today is Wednesday). So I took the hood off over the weekend and figured out the problem was my fuel filter and in line filter. When taking my fuel filter out it was black and I was scraping chunks of algea out, when I changed my in line filter same thing its filled with dirt. So this just disappoints me that I didnt get a call back and I had to spend another $30 on top of price of boat and change these parts myself even though they claimed it had a tune up. Definitely wont be going back for anything.
Have recently been using these guys for boat parts and boating advice, staff has been very friendly and helpful not sure what the bad reviews are about. Try them out for yourself.
Lots of boats to choose from. Friendly and helpful staff. Well worth the trip.
If we could give you a zero we would..... Listen up everyone....If you want good customer service, follow up and feel like you are important to them...GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. complete lack of any type of courtesy when it comes to sales... well maybe if i was buying a Kayak instead of a $50,000 boat i would of had more attention.... think about that!
One year on from the purchase of the boat (Hobie Adventure Island) and trailer. Both are going strong. Based on my purchase and subsequent interactions with LCM I would recommend them to anyone looking to buy a boat and/or trailer regardless of the type and style. Everyone here really knows what they are talking about and are a pleasure to work with. We ourselves will be definitely going back here in the future. Thanks for everything and keep up the great work!
I should have called ahead of time 😆 I just drove 2 hours from maryland 🤷🏼♂️
Great people quick service
Just purchased a new Old Town kayak from Dale and family. Great to deal with!
Friendly and helpful - big in there so you have to look for someone for a minite
Horrible customer service!! I have been waiting for weeks for my parts. I have to call every week to get an update. Then this past monday Dale told me they will be in Wednesday and I will call you with your total amount due. Havent heard anything!! Its now Saturday and my boat isnt running for 4th of july weekend because of a horrible company that I wouldnt recommend if its the last boat store on earth. They are very ignorant and think they know it all. The old man seemed to be very friendly but the 2 sons are stuck up and need to pick up the phone and communicate with there customers.
What a great place. The wife and i went looking at kayaks. The man there explained everything about the 2 we looked at expertly. Would mostdefently buy from them. Thank you all for the great atmosphere also.
They messed up my trailer order and offered to resolve the issue by selling me very expensive parts. Unfair! They could not help when I had trouble with screws falling out of the things they assembled, or with tech help. They always said the right things, but never lived up to promises. Dishonest, unfair bullies. No one wears a mask.
I can not express how impressed and happy I am with my purchase experience with LCM! When my initial purchase didn’t work out, Dale (the owner) was diligent and thoughtful in making sure I was satisfied and they made things right. You just don’t find this kind of thoughtful customer service anymore. I am a lifetime customer- they’ve earned my biz!
Bought the Railblaza C-Tug SandTrakz cart. $250.00 Amazon, and Ack have it for $170.00 total price gouge.
Not the kind of place or people that I like to do business with! Just look at all the reviews and you will see why. Go somewhere else there are alot of marines.
Service was good getting my couple of parts. Nice place . prices are in high dollar catagory. Not a place for bargains. They are knowledgeable and friendly.
Upon arrival at the store, I intended to browse around. I got to the upper level only to have one of their female representative yell up to ask what I was looking for. I let her know I was hoping to find replacement throttle cables. She came back and said I had to come down to another area to talk to a guy who said he could help me out. I then had to go down to the area in the showroom where this guy was just hanging out. By the looks of it, he was just shooting the breeze. I let him know I was hoping to find a set of replacement cables. He asked if I had the current ones with me. I let him know I didnt, and was about to tell him I had my engine serial number, knew the type of throttle I had, as well as exact measurements of the cables and detailed pictures. He interrupted me and said he wasnt willing to even attempt looking for them without the old ones present. He gave me a business card and asked me to come back when I had the cables. --- I came home, found a the cables online, and installed them in my boat, with no issues, within a week. Im not planning to return to this store.
Bought a Hobie kayak on 9-26-20. I had been looking for a Hobie for several months but they were sold out everywhere near me. My husband and I drove 1 & 1/2 hours one way to get one. Isaiah (also a Hobie owner) went above and beyond going over every spec and detail of the kayak with me. Thanks!
Ended up buying a kayak because we needed it. Like one of the other contributors said its unfortunate they have great inventory because their customer relations are abrupt. Its a great place to learn about kayaks. They are very knowledgeable but dont come here if you want any kind of discount or a good deal. Its a great place to come and test drive and then buy elsewhere. Usually when buying something I need I have a good feeling about it and I just feel like Ive been put through the wringer buying at this place.
I wanted to get my stingray boat winterized for winter. It has always been garage kept, I like keeping it out of the weather!! I called and was told to bring it in. I did and when I got there I was told that they are 1 to 1.5 weeks out in work and they are responsible for freezing once the boat is on their property. Thats fine and understandable, so I said ok, lets make an appointment that in 2 weeks or so I can drop it off so it wouldnt be sitting outside for over a week. The lady at the desk said that they do not do scheduling and I couldnt make an appointment to wait on it either. They fit them in when they can. I told her, well my boat is not sitting outside if it doesnt have to and I will find somewhere that will winterize while I wait. After posting this review, I got a call from Dale. He apologized for the misunderstanding and asked for another opportunity to service me. I gave them the opportunity and i was really impressed. I dropped my boat off and two days later it was winterized and ready to pick up. They really did a good check over on it and found some things wrong that I knew needed attention, and fixed it for me. They did a great job, I will be using therm in the future!!
Very well stocked. Friendly and helpful family run business.
Charged me $184 for the same brand and part number that has a list price of $121 and costs them less than $69.They are a complete rip-off and very rude to their customers
I had a Yakima roof rack put on my truck, they ordered the parts that were needed and did the job in a timely fashion. They are very knowledgeable about the products they sell and explained how everything adjusted on the rack upon picking it up. Lancaster Marine was very helpful through the whole process.
Friendly and knowledgeable. Outstanding customer service!
Huge selection, great service and friendly family business
Bought a trailer here last year in a pinch and the service and turnaround time was excellent. Dale set me up and kept me in the loop. Everythings better on the water!
Should have listened to numerous people who told us to stay away from this place. Poor customer service, said they would look at our boat within a week, which they didn’t. Went to pick up our boat to take elsewhere and they charged us $15 dollars. When asked what the fee was for they couldn’t give us a clear answer stating it was in the fine print... The only paperwork we signed was to authorize them to work on it and no where did it say we would be charged $15. The fact that they never touched our boat and still charged us a fee that was not listed on the paperwork is pathetic. A money hungry company, will not be coming back and will never recommend this place to anyone.
Dale and the staff went out of their way to make sure I was happy with my new Necky Vector 14!Worth the drive!Amazing collection of kayaks!
Great sales and service. Got two kayaks here.
I have been going to Lancaster Mirena for many years to pick up odds and ends. Their help is friendly personable and knowledgeable. I just got my first book from them, not my only boat Ive had some before and I expect the best I no doubt I will not be disappointed
Very pleasant and knowledgeable people. Will go there again
I am a lil late on this review but better late than never. First and foremost, why would you want to shop anywhere else!?!?! Dale and the whole staff are out of the ordinary because ya just dont find GREAT personalitys and the most OUTSTANDING customer service anywhere like this anymore. I cant thank Dale and the crew enough for being very helpful, knowledgeable, and understanding!! I shopped around, priced and just could not find better prices and stock like Lancaster Co Marine. After my wife and I first visited I did not even have to think about any other options. I could go on and on..... 100% satisfaction guaranteed!!!!! Thank you so much to all at Lancaster Co Marine!!A very satisfied Adam n Carol Young
Its nice to see a small business still out there going strong. Their retail store is huge, I know a number of other people who have used this place and had really good experiences.
Have purchased from LCM on several occasions and used them for service work as well. Always happy with the work and their expertise. Most recently bought a trailer for a 1950s Larson and they went the extra mile to fine tune some adjustments.
Terrible Experience!!! I have the held off writing this review because of ongoing issues with Lancaster County Marine. I will have to say that my experience with this company has been the worst retail experience I have ever been through. I ordered a custom made boat trailer for my bass boat in April 2015. I did my research and found that the company that was manufacturing the trailer, Tennessee trailers looked like they built a nice product. Their distribution dealer was Lancaster county marine in this area. I dealt with Dale Hartman, the owner. Upon ordering the trailer I was asked by Dale Hartman to furnish them with measurements of my old trailer. He sent me a template that was titled by Tennessee trailers. I had the old boat removed from the trailer and had a local dealer measure all of the bunks from the old trailer and add the measurements to the template. I furnished Lancaster county marine with these measurements. I also ordered custom wheels and a folding tongue. I paid almost $7000 for this trailer. When I received the trailer in early June I picked it up from Lancaster County Marine on June 5, 2015 and took the trailer home A couple of days after I received the trailer I noticed a few things that I didnt like. First there were some paint runs on the trailer, the tires were manufactured in 2012, and the wheels, although similar design were not of the quality of the picture I was given to choose from. I contacted Lancaster county marine and let Dale Hartman know of these issues. He said he would look into it. In the next few weeks things turned from bad to worse. When we tried to put the boat on the new trailer we found that none of the measurements were correct and the boat would not fit. When I say none of the measurements I mean none of the measurements. in addition to this the folding tongue would not fold without assistance of a large mallet. It was rusted and you physically cannot bend it by yourself. As if all of these things were not bad enough Lancaster county marine refused to let me return the trailer. They offered to repair it/fix it but would not let me return it. first, I did not want the trailer temporarily repaired like they offered and I certainly did not want it permanently repaired by cutting off the supports and re-welding them and repainting the trailer which is what they would have to do to permanently repair it. I did not order a repaired trailer I also no longer trusted Lancaster county marine and Tennessee Trailers, as they Denied that the tires were three years old and they both denied that the wheels were incorrect. I spent over 30 years in the tire business so I know tires and wheels and I know these tires are three years old. The wheels are a cheap imitation of the picture they sent me. The quality of the trailer, the non-folding tongue, the runs in the paint, and the fact that they not only made it to the incorrect specifications but they wanted to do a repair I did not want to be done. The last straw was the fact that Tennessee trailers, who offered to do the repairs, would not have done the repairs correctly after all as they do not agree that all of the measurements are incorrect. Dale Hartman asked me, what am I going to do with a custom made trailer, I cant sell it? First of all that is not my problem. I did not take money from him and give him something he didnt order. Second of all he could return the trailer to Tennessee trailers and they could have resold it. I have kept this trailer in my garage since I bought it so it would not deteriorate in the weather so that when I returned it they could resell it. I have had to pay storage for my old boat and trailer and have not been able to use my garage for almost a year. I cannot Imagine anywhere else where you would buy something whether it be custom ordered or not and not receive what you bought and them not let you return it. Absolutely terrible experience I would never use them for anything. Look at other reviews and you will see the same thing.
Crooks. Take your business somewhere else.
My wife and I are new to boating and we decided to check out our local, family owned dealer to shop for a used boat to get started. We found a super clean 1 owner 1988 Dynasty Apollo 190 at Lancaster County Marine......a perfect family starter boat. We couldnt be more pleased with the service we received here,Dale was extremely attentive and helpful to all our questions,Sarah provided us with expert financing and Dwayne was just awesome at delivery covering every detail of our boat from bow to stern. We tested our boat at Blue Marsh this morning and it operated flawlessly and drew quite a bit of attention because of its perfect condition.Thank You very much and we look forward to a long business relationship with Lancaster County Marine,we will recommend your dealer highly to anybody we meet!
NOT COMPETITIVE PRICING!!! $962 for winterization, engine/lower unit oil change and trailer inspection. I called 5 dealers in PA and all were $200 to $300 less. charged me over $90 for a 8 LED light bar on trailer. Sadly, a family owned business that has resorted to fleecing customers to stay afloat.
👍I enjoyed working with them!
I took my 5hp Nissan outboard to Lancaster Marine to fix the water pump, which they repaired (new impeller) for $313. I thought this was rather steep, considering the impeller for my 23hp Yanmar only cost me $40 and about an hour to replace. But, Im not opposed to paying a premium for a job well done. Problem was, it wasnt! The motor only pumped water for about 100yards, then quit. I returned to the shop and was told that a stray piece inside the engine may be the problem and that it would cost a minimum of $200 more to check it out. Kinda thought that should have been included in the original $313. I also was told that a striped clamp screw on the stern bracket would cost $400 to replace, which I later purchased for $45 and change. The replacement took me 30 minutes. Seems like these folks have a skewed vision of customer service and an outrageous pricing policy. I would not recommend Lancaster Marine to my boating friends.
These are the most genuine people you will find in business. We are a small boat manufacturer located in Vancouver Washington and we had shipped a boat to a customer in the area. Upon delivery, we found ourselves with a damaged trailer and a very frustrated customer. Dale at Lancaster County Marine was able to help us get set up with a new trailer and the correct set up to accommodate the boat which they did not have in their possession. They went well above and beyond what most companies would do to help us in our time of need. Dale stuck to his word and made sure that everything was done right. Hands down the best supplier we have ever worked with! Thanks again LCM!
Did a great job servicing my boat. Customer service was great, everything was explained very well. Price was a little high, but its worth it!
I havent seen any good reviews yet. I was quoted a price for a repair manual over the phone & when I got there it was a higher price. This was yrs ago but I still remember it. Needless to say, I wasnt happy about it.. When someone quotes me a price, I expect them to stand by it.Its ashame that Conestoga Marine closed up. They had better prices & service.
Lets start off with saying that they have a great selection of kayaks and accessories, which is why I visited them in the first place. I found there prices to be fair on the kayaks as well, at least what I saw. I own a Necky Manitou 14 that they were selling for 1100 I believe, which is what it is sold for almost everywhere that Ive seen. Long story short, I was under the impression that they were fair priced so I went and bought an Accent Select Kauai paddle for $243 after tax. When I got home I wanted to search it to check out my purchase. I found out it retails for $150 on Accents website. I found it for as low as $130 plus shipping elsewhere. I found it nowhere for more than $170. I am going to try to return it this coming week or at least get some money back. The pricing stickers on the paddles are handmade so hopefully there was just a mistake made. I understand overhead and I want to support locally but thats too much of a markup. I will update this once I visit them.
Great People always willing to help when you call or stop in. They have a very large inventory of parts and if not they will get it for you! You may find better prices online if you shop hard but the knowledge, experience and help is well worth the difference.
The experience I had with lancaster marine was great .excellent and knowledgeable staff.I purchased a 2018 Hobie outback and I love it . Thanks to the entire Hartman family.
Terrible company. Cost me $580 to simply put two 2x4 boards on my boat trailer. No new brackets or anything. Just normal treated boards wrapped in carpet. I recommend any other company for boat work before this one.I have a friend with a boat that has also been ripped off here. Also they have terrible customer service on the phone. If you scroll down through through the reviews youll see that this a company NOT worth dealing with!!
I hate writing this about a family-run business, but I will not go back to Lancaster County Marine. I purchased a new trailer from them, and I never received the PA registration before the temporary tag expired. When I called to ask if they could look into it, the young lady on the phone stated I waited too long to call and that I would have to call Harrisburg myself. I needed to use the trailer, so I simply went to a tag agency and purchased another tag. This tag agencys system is tied directly to Harrisburg, so they looked into the old tag application. Harrisburg apparently never received my application. I hope this feedback helps.
Great service.
We recently purchased a Trailblazer kayak trailer from Lancaster County Marine, Inc. In my opinion this is a very high pressure dealership. Beware of their deposit and return policy!!! The trailer we purchased was an in stock item. We offered to put 50% down without ever noticing their policy of no deposit returns. Since we did not yet have a hitch on our car we did not immediately take possession of the trailer and instead agreed to get the hitch installed and contact them when we were ready for the trailer. After much thought we decided a trailer was not the ideal solution for us and immediately contacted one of the owners, Dale Hartman to let him know about our possible change of heart. Initially Mr. Hartman seemed agreeable and asked that we let him know as soon as we made a final decision. Once we decided we did not want to go with the trailer, which we still had not yet picked up, Mr. Hartman completely changed his tune. He said he would have to do some figuring to determine how much of our deposit he intended to keep to cover the cost of prepping the trailer. We agreed to wait and see what he felt we owed. After not hearing from him we called him and now he said he was inclined to keep all of our deposit ($1,100.00)!!! After much back and forth we did not want to lose that amount of money and agreed to take the trailer. Mr. Hartman contends this was, in fact, a custom built trailer. Very disingenuous!!! This trailer is NOT custom built unless adding the kayak supports, the spare tire and the locks constitute custom built. When we first met with Dale he indicated they had stacks of these trailers on their back lot. Having said that, we were willing to cover the cost associated with the time spent adding these accessories but that was not good enough he insisted on keeping the entire deposit of $1,100!!! Who does that? Certainly not my idea of a fair business transaction. After feeling forced to go through with this purchase, after having the hitch installed on our vehicle by someone else, the ball mount was then installed by Dales brother, Duane, also at LCM. When we got home we found it had scratched our bumper where it was rubbing. This after voicing our concern with Duane about whether it was too close to the bumper while he was doing the install. He said it was at least a 1/4 inch from the bumper and would be fine. In fact, it was completely flush against the bumper, scraping the paint off where it rubbed and certainly nowhere near a 1/4 inch out. We called as soon as we got home and told Dale what happened and he assured us they would take care of it. They would pursue getting another ball mount and that it would be an even swap, his EXACT words!!! Once again, we drove almost an hour out to their place to get this piece replaced. End of story? Oh no!!! Dale calls us a couple of weeks later under the pretense of asking how we are doing with the trailer and then asks us to pay the difference for the replaced part!!! Seriously!!!??? Only when we reminded him of the damage the first ball mount caused and suggesting we would send him an estimate for the repair of the bumper did he say you would not pursue the additional cost. To say we were absolutely blown away by that call does not even come close to how we felt! . In my opinion, this is not the place I would do business with. There are other excellent and highly reputable kayak dealers in the area.
Very nice place. Friendly staff. Super helpful.
Service was good. People were friendly and knowledgable. Helped us pick out two kayaks that fit our needs and budget, a year or 2 ago. So Im puzzled by all the bad reviews. They do close early though, so we dont get there often, because we have day jobs, and we are usually too busy on weekends. Prices on paddle-sport accessories are extremely high. So we usually end up looking at stuff there and buying it online.
Great family business. A lot of very knowledgeable people willing to help with whatever you may need.
Poor customer service. High priced and they would not give me a refund for a life jacket that I had bought a few weeks before, even though I brought the reciept and it still had all the tags and was in perfect condition. Would not recommend or go back.
They always do a great job winterizing our boat for us
Incredible selection of even discontinued models of kayaks... I drove 3 hours to get mine here.
A little expensive but very knowledgeable staff. Also had EVERYTHING I needed for my outboard maintenance. Also very helpful and friendly staff.
These guys know their stuff!
Very friendly and knowledge staff.
They had the parts I needed and helped me to find them nice prices too
Knowledgeable guides, the expertise to discover the best fit, and service for long term success. LCM is worth any extra miles you take to get there.
Not sure what the deal with some of these reviews, I had an absolutely great experience with LCM. I had recently reached out to and visited several large paddling stores, as well as big box shops looking at a few specific kayaks. About 30 minutes after my random email, Duane Jr. called me, asked if I had a few moments to talk about my boats. After being the first and ONLY retailer to discuss the pros and cons of the final two boats (Wilderness systems pungo 120 vs Old Town Camden 120), he gave me price quotes for a prior model year Camden, and a new one, then told me that I can try any boat they have in the store to ensure i was happy. I did some more digging and tried the pungo, then went out to the LCM store. The whole family that was there were nothing but polite, friendly, and accommodating. Dale and Duane both also ensured that the boat was secure on my vehicle before leaving, and they offered to field any questions i might have with my boat, or any other related items. The cost of gas and tolls might have nearly equaled out the cost of shipping, however i would not have been able to accurately compare all the different boats, and I am glad to support a family business where they know what they are talking about, and actually take the time to ensure that there was a comfort with the information. WILL be shopping there again, especially after being blown off on a non busy day at Jersey Paddler. I do feel i got a better deal on a boat I absolutely love.
Great customer service from a local family owned business.
The reviews were very helpful in deciding weather to business with Lancaster Marine.
Very helpful and they know what theyre talking about. I trust the people here.
Recently Purchased a 12 foot used boat from them. I understand the boat is used, Im new to the boating world and didnt know to much about them. i received a boat and trailer and trolling motor 30 # thrust and a outboard 4 hp . the trailer is missing parts the wheel bearings covers did not come with it. Need to replace the wooden transom! the seats very uncomfortable. i paid almost 2 grand for the complete kit not worth the price for what i could of collected in the newspapers and internet . they seem to be great people but i expected a lot more out of them, and a boat that was properly look over !! . I could of bought a boat brand new for the price i paid for the one i got and a trolling motor UPDATE :::: although not happy with the results above finally got to try the outboard out and im very pleased with outcome hence the better rating .
Fast turn around with reliable work.
I SPOKE OVER THE PHONE WITH DALE ABOUT THE EXACT TYPE/ MODEL/COLOR OF KAYAK I WANTED. I WAS QUOTED A PRICE OF $1399. I HAD BOUGHT 2 KAYAKS FOR MY SON AND I IN THE PAST FROM THEM, TOTAL OUT THE DOOR FOR THE PAIR WAS VERY CLOSE TO $3000 JUST ABOUT A YEAR AGO. SO NOW, I WAS GOING TO SPEND ABOUT $1500 ON ANOTHER SIMILAR KAYAK AND PADDLE TO THE ONES I HAD BOUGHT BEFORE. I CLOSED UP SHOP, DROVE ABOUT 45 MINUTES TO THE STORE TO FIND THE PRICE NOT $1399, BUT EITHER $1443 OR $1499 FOR THE EXACT MODEL AND COLOR I HAD DISCUSSED WITH DALE. HE WOULD NOT SELL EITHER FOR THE PRICE HE QUOTED ME. I OWN MY OWN BUSINESS AND WOULD NEVER TREAT MY CUSTOMER WITH THE INDIFFERENCE DALE SHOWED A REPEAT CUSTOMER WITH CASH IN HAND. ALL OVER A MEASLY $44. I SEE THE AWFUL REVIEWS THEY HAVE, AND NOW I KNOW WHY. I AM SURE IF ENOUGH PEOPLE READ THIS, IT WILL HAVE COST THEM WAY MORE THAN $44. IT IS A SHAME, BECAUSE THE SELECTION IS GOOD. UPDATE AS OF 6/01/14. DALE CALLED TO APOLOGIZE REGARDING THE BAD EXPERIENCE I HAD WITH HIM. HE OFFERED TO HONOR THE PRICE HE HAD QUOTED ME, AND EVEN PERSONALLY DELIVER THE KAYAK TO ME. I HAPPILY AGREED, AND THANKED HIM FOR CALLING ME TO MAKE AMENDS.I OFFERED TO SAVE HIM THE TRIP, AND HE OPENED THE STORE ON SUNDAY SO I COULD TAKE MY GIRLFRIEND IN AND CHECK OUT THE KAYAK (WHICH WAS TO BE A SURPRISE GIFT) AND MAKE SURE IT SUITED HER NEEDS. I THOUGHT THAT WAS VERY BIG OF HIM, AND I WILL SHOP THERE AGAIN IN THE FUTURE!
The best customer service hands down!!!
Lots of kayaks to choose from and very knowledgeable service
