Another part of what makes Eugene. Im a very amateur musician, but what I have has been fueled by instruments from Buy & Sell. Ive followed them through three different locations in Eugene. I picked up the ukulele over the pandemic. Someone gave one of my kids a cheap uke and I gave it a try. For my birthday, I wanted to get a concert size. They were really helpful letting me try out their assortment and I could really tell the difference in the more expensive ones. I ended up getting the cheapest one (still a great instrument for a beginner) because I felt that was what I could afford. Then I got home and remembered that I could trade in the saxophone I got there years ago when they were on 5th Street. I called them and they said come on in. I was able to upgrade to a much nicer ukulele.
Another Eugene institution. I have always appreciated the knowledgeable and laid back staff, unique selection, and competitive prices. This is a great local shop and a MUST SHOP if you want to support your neighborhood music shop.
I went in looking for a new acoustic guitar. I found the perfect one! They have a great inventory, a lot of options which makes purchasing better finding a product just for you! Great customer service ✌️❤️
Nice collection of acoustic and folk instruments, they pay well on trade ins as well
Knowledge able staff. Peruse and you will see
Great selection of notated music and method books of music from a variety of world traditions. They also have a number of instruments from around the world from multiple traditions.
Vast selection in a small shop. Worked out a deal for a trade-in, came out a happy buyer. The owner and staff seem pretty knowledgeable about what they sell.
Kyle helped me buy a violin for my grandaughter, he was knowledgeable, super helpful and patient with my eight year old grandaughter who was curious about all the instruments. Will always shop here, they are fabulous.
The best place to sell old instruments, got exactly what I wanted for what I sold. Also a great place to pick music and various instruments from
Used to love this place but the last couple times I went one employee was wearing his mask below his nose and another one wasn’t wearing a mask at all
These guys know instruments! I bought a Mandolin here, it had one minor problem after I took it on the road and they fixed it. Very happy, They stand behind their products, would recommend to anyone!
Helpful staff, have never felt rushed. the staff are comfortable with you playing all instruments.
My go to store for anything guitar. They have a good selection of new and used instruments and the owner is a genuinely cool dude with a wealth of knowledge hes more than willing to share. Ive always felt really comfortable here and look forward to going back!
Great shop but the customer service...not the best. They were pleasant enough but not willing to help me find what I needed. It took another customer helping me. That gentleman did more for me than the staff member I asked. Another staff member rang me up & he was helpful & pleasant.
Friendly, great and honest customer service
Super knowledgeable and friendly staff, good selection and good prices! Definitely will be coming back.
Man behind the counter was extremely rude. Kept questioning my judgment on music as if I were a novice when I was asking for help. Thankful I didn’t spend my money there.
I bought my very first guitar here. I asked for their recommendations and they pointed out a handful of beginner guitars in varying price ranges and invited me to try out as many as I wanted. When I finally picked my guitar, they gave me a basic strap for free and helped me attach it and adjust it to my size. They found a case that fit and gave me a discount since I was buying a guitar with it. They showed me the different options they had for tuners and metronomes and gave recommendations for both. They even threw in a free set of guitar strings and let me pick 6 guitar picks for free too. They told me about services that they offer if I needed to come back in for something. They were super sweet, helpful, informative, and patient with me the entire time. I really appreciate the time they took with me. Id feel really comfortable going back with questions and Id definitely buy an instrument from them again.
Other reviews are still true, owner is a bit snobby and elitist, but the other employees are kind and helpful. If you like bluegrass and know a hell of a lot about music, you’ll be fine. Otherwise, guitar center is a much better price with more equipment and more helpful staff.
Dan and his Son are great people to deal with always a smile.. I have been going into THEIR shop for 30yrs now.. If you want/need expert repairs or New or Slightly used gear Go See Them.. Home grown Family Music store !!! KK
Limited selection (especially on lower end) and mediocre service. One staff was disinterested, would barely answer our questions, and seemed like he didnt know guitars. He kept giving vague answers like, Um, you just have to try it and see... Finally I pressed him to play us a couple of chords on each guitar so we could compare since we dont know how to play yet and he said, Oh... Im havent played guitar in a few months. A few months and he cant even strum a couple chords up and down?? He directed us to his co-worker finally (the man with the fabulous beard) who REALLY helped us. He played a cool little thing on each so we could compare the sound and he even gave my friend advice on which guitar would be best for a snippet of music she shared with him. We took his card because we would take lessons from him!! I personally would have walked out without a purchase due to the service of the first guy and then just taken lessons with the second guy, but my friend ended up buying the guitar in gratitude for the second guys help. I wish she was into ukuleles... Pacific Winds has such better service.
One of my favorite music shops!
Overall: Great selection of instruments of every sort, quality and quantity for such a small store. The owner is knowledgable and seems to enjoy a healthy conversation about all music related topics.Atmosphere: mildly lit with enough walking space for most people. The shopkeeper and his assistant seemed a bit curt and not entirely friendly; however, I was coming in right as they opened asking for a specific piece and waited for a while in the store to get a call back about it. I can understand the irk. Despite this we talked for the better part of 15 minutes about different guitars, saxophones, accordions, etc... and just for a bit oglf chin wag picked up some very useful information.Price: The prices are reasonable but I noticed a lean towards more expensive instruments. When I talked with the owner he mentioned a problem with his suppliers, so that could explain the eclectic stock. When asked the owner was firm on credit card or cash in hand payments. Any chance for payment plans had apparently been shot down by some dip years ago.
This shop is my go-to for violins, guitars and accessories. Ive been doing business here for over 30 years and Ive always been treated fairly. I recommend the Buy & Sell Center to everyone I know who is looking for any instrument, new or used. Look here first!
I get great customer service here. I bought a guitar here after coming in for a year and trying them out without buying. They never hassled me or tried to give me a hard sell. Ive bought lots of accessories and really enjoy going in. They are patient with my newbie questions and seem to enjoy working there. The prices are competitive and they arent corporate, which I love!
Its a second hand music store which has been in business for over 30 years. The staff is friendly and helpful. The best thing about it is the selection of instruments. They not only have traditional American instruments and electric guitars, but also instruments from Asia, India, South America, Russia, Africa, and the Middle East. They also have a wide selection of music books a few amps and a few stompboxes. Even if you dont buy anything, its worth going there just to look.
Great prices very knowledgeable
Warm, friendly and knowledgeable staff. I felt no pressure what so ever. And they have an amazing stock of instruments. Theres a lot to choose from for both the novice and the professional.
Love this place! People are knowlegable and welcoming. If you like music, then you have to go.
Have traded with Buy & Sell for 20+ years. Sometimes I make an offer for an instrument and they are loathe to negotiate. Conversely, I have been reluctant to part with an instrument for what they offer me. But I like trading with them nonetheless. Because they handle a lot of instruments and nobody cares if I sit down and play. Sometimes I will get to handle a really fascinating instrument with extraordinary energy poured into it. And mostly they seem sensitive to, you know, that weird adventure by which musicians and instruments get together to make music.
Great people
The best place ever for instrument and help
Extremely rude and unhelpful staff. I came in looking for music lessons for a 9 year old and instead of simply replying with a no and offering recommendations, they told me to look in the Eugene Weekly and do my own research. You should be encouraging people to learn music not sticking your nose in the air like complete SNOBS. Shame on you, I hope you go out of business. You lost a customer for life, and little did you know I was going to purchase 2 guitar straps and a tuner. Shame shame shame. Typical Eugene business, typical Eugene snobby musicians.
Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Lots of instruments to choose from. A good variety of sheet music. One of my favorite places in Eugene.
They was so helpful and such a wide range of instruments to explore! Thank you for my new beautiful mandolin :-)
Love this store! I always go here to get my music. Theyve got a great selection of instruments too.
Very informative. Good conversation about music and instruments.
Ive been going to the Buy & Sell Center for as long as I can remember-- theyve got an amazing and varied selection of all kinds of musical instruments, always at fair and reasonable prices. Lots of fond memories here!
Largest selection of sheet music and music books in the area. They’re also great at budget repairs. I brought a five-string banjo in to have a tuning peg replaced. They did it in one day at a very reasonable price.
I got low key, competent advice and left with exactly the instrument I wanted.
Able to get what I needed and then some.
The workers are very educated about nearly everthing. A bit pricey but everything is wonderful quality, they even have instructors for lessons.
Very nice guys that were willing to answer my many questions. Will go again!!
I just left with a 2006 Schecter Gryphon. The guitar itself is amazing for the price, and the staff was knowledgeable, helpful and reasonable. They came down on the ticket price for the guitar and threw in a set of strings. I couldnt be happier!
Good deals for musical instruments, you can haggle a little bit but this store is hard to find because it doesnt stand out, but you can also sell your musical instruments
Guitars have excellent neck setups!
Owner was rude and condescending while discussing the sale of an instrument. The price he offered was probably fair but the experience was so unpleasant that I was happy to leave with my instrument. I would never recommend this establishment.
Very helpful and friendly. fair
This place has a wonderfully eclectic variety of musical instruments. I stop in here every time Im in Eugene.
Great local resource for sheet music and basic supplies. A fun place to peruse. :)
Slightly harder to spot caffe Yum is across the street however it seem that business is sparce
It was OK but the staff sometimes couldnt be bothered. At least they didnt have the Portland Music-2502 Broadway location attitude where the guys that work there, and cant get a gig to save their lives, act like theyre Leo Kottke, while teaching people who dont know the difference.Too many music store employees think theyre John McLaughlin calibre but in their formative days.My friends, you cant play worth a hoot and you never will..lol...lmao
The employee there was super nice and welcoming, the owner, not so much.
Nice collection of folk-style instruments, very eclectic in their sheet music selection
The owner was not a people person. I did get a small amount of money for 2 instruments but would have rather donated them to a school because the experience and money received were not good. But we were moving and schools were closed.
The coolest music shop. So many different instruments
Bought an expensive amp that was supposed to come with a cover. They didnt have it on hand that day but promised to look for it and contact me. Never called me. I called back several times and finally went in but got nothing but excuses and shrugs. I wont go back, ever.
One of the most unique selection of instruments Ive ever seen! Knowledgeable and kind staff.
The first tIm I went here, the staff was very helpful and nice. I came back about a year later to sell some instruments because I was in the area and the man working the counter, was not only rude, but judged me and my instruments. Anyone wishing to sell their instruments or music item will have bether luck on ebay or Craigslist than coming here
Found just what we needed. Good service.
Great store, friendly and helpful staff. Check in often if you are looking for something in particular.
This is the best music store ever!!!
Been going here for years, since they were still on 8th street. They always have some cool stuff, and the staff are knowledgeable about a wide variety of instruments and accoutrements.
I wanted to like this place, but unfortunately the owner was rude and impatient with me every time that I went there. One time I asked for advice about guitar strings and was hastily sold the wrong ones since it was 15 minutes until closing. When I went to return them (unopened), the man gave me a bad attitute, huffed and puffed and threw my credit card back at me. Friends have had similar experiences. I dont recommend it - save yourself the negative energy.
Good selection of instruments for all levels
I agree with other comments about rude and indifferent staff. Id advise buying off ebay, craigslist, or another source before going here. Same with selling your item.
Knowledgeable staff, great second hand selection
Nice and knowledgeable staff, loads of interesting instruments. We felt good about our purchase and will go back.
Great place with very nice people.
Found what I was looking for and its not Guitar Center.
Excellent place for budget minded musicians
Killer selection of used music and games. The place is like a treasure chest. Support your locals and check this place out.
Bought a trumpet for a hundred dollars, found out it was worth about twenty, and they refused to buy it back. Owner was also rude.
Great choices of used musical instruments
Not helpful and argumentative. Customer service can use much improvement.
I thought the guy in the store was a real jerk I think theyve been in business so long they dont think they have to do customer service Im not a big fan
Pricey on their used items..
Lots of cool music books
Great store!
Been going here for a long time, these guys rock!
Different stuff
What an amazing selection

They have some old instruments and its the most striking
Excellent products, excellent attention.
