I ran in after not being there for quite a few years and was shocked at the lack of food options now. The Lack of Appeal of the food there. And the unfriendly sterile look of the Evanston store which I went in. And the Lake Forest store which I walked by this summer. There used to be such variety. Loads of interesting foods that compelled you to just try them. The warmth of baskets, kitchenware, towels and design. That inspired you to cook. Every section of the stores used to be a wonder of exploration. You used to be able to look in the window and be pulled in by the inviting warmth that came from the stores. They are quite different now, and they look more like a hospital setting. I just couldnt believe it. I have been tempted to go see Dave at the seafood counter in Glencoe. Because I trust him. But wont step into that place, because of owner management in that store....sigh.
So happy to see this place open. For college students without a car and need to do general shopping, this the best thing to happen. Low prices with huge selection. Now dont have to order everything off amazon.
It used to be a pretty decent place to buy all kinds of food. Now, the employees have no clue on what theyre doing and no class.
Its a grocery store. Every thing is clean and organized. People are nice and quick.
I would love to come back here but unfortunately I live in fear of getting food poisoning again. The last time I came I got it because I had one of their BYO salads. Besides that they have really good desserts and soups. Decent place to come in for a quick lunch. But very hesitant to go back. In fact many people on social media have commented that they got food poisoning coming here or their other locations as well
I was so disappointed with the management, I got sick from there Tuna and when I reached out to the manager he hung up the phone. I hope they make management changes right away.
Adore this place. Their poke bowls are awesome!
Foodstuffs was a good deli experience so many different selections, a good concept store. Looking forward to going back when visiting Evanston.
Love the wide variety of flavors and different brands of coffee. You can always find good prices and sales.
Excellent carry-out food: sandwiches, salads, soups, veggies, fish, and desserts. Multiple Chicago north suburban locations.
The best shopping store in the area. Very clean, super nice staff and a good selection of products. Very fair and affordable prices. Highly recommended!
I wish this place was better.
Ive been here several times. The other day I walked in and didnt realize they werent officially open for the day yet, and the manager was nice about it (sorry). Its a gourmet food store with prices to match, but the food is good. The customer service is not straightforward-friendly that youd find in other places. I dont know if theyre unhappy or stressed because of how theyre being managed, or if the customers are high-maintenance enough to negatively affect their demeanor. One exception is a cashier whos been friendly for years, who seems to be enjoying her job. Other than that, I go there for the food, not the overall experience as at other places.
The most delightful place youll ever go for food and stuffs. Everything is delicious.
Great lunch options and dinner options, be it eat-in or take-away (whether its a solo meal or a meal for two or more). High quality. All fresh / freshly made. Clean. Decent prices. Two thumbs up.
Great food and delicious sweets, just dont look at the price.
Any place that makes Whole Foods look cheap is a no go. I understand its gourmet, but the prices are ridiculous! Customer service is good, but some of the employees seem a little overworked or jaded at times. If you are looking for baked goods, Tags Bakery is right up the street and has reasonable prices. For other stuff, just go to Marianos, Jewel, or even Whole Foods and save yourself some money.
Great brand and better execution. Recently worked with catering crew and loved the experience. Professional, positive, and passionate
Great Sandwiches, Salads, Food Bar and snacks!
Very nice people, the store was clean and the food was fresh! Excellent experience.......
Foodstuffs is really nice in a pinch when you dont have time for a full grocery shopping trip. They always have yummy foods but you do pay for the convenience.
Went with a friend for lunch. Tried to order a sandwich, but the employee acted like I was not there. I explained it was my first time ordering a sandwich. They didnt care. My order was ready and it was Burnt to a crisp and black on one side. Why would an employee serve a burnt sandwich? Female manager looked at it and right away apologized. They remade the sandwich and the new one looked 10 times better then the first. I remember the old days of foodstuffs when everything they made was perfection the first time around. The staff was brilliant and your experience was extraordinary. Unfortunately that was not the case today.
This is a gem of a store in Chicago! Always great selection of prepared and specialty foods! A great place to pick up a quick dinner or food for Ravinia!
Fantastic environment with a wonderful staff and incredible selection. Strongly recommend!
They are so rude to the kids who come into shop! They swipe the free samples from right under them, and not because they take to many. The kids there grab one, buy something, then leave. How does that justify their rude behavior? Do not shop at a store that mistreats their most loyal customers.
Not sure what to call this smorgasbord of foodie deliciousness but its definitely worth a visit. The sandwiches are really well-made and theres a ton of choices to pick from. The deli section is pretty good as well. Its a nice place to go if youre in the neighborhood and cant decide what you want. Theres a ton of choices thatll make you want to try each and every one out!
Im going to preface this review with the fact this isnt your bargain grocery store, instead expect to pay a little more. To me the place still is an excellent value because all of what they offer is really good. And based on the size of the store they are able to squeeze quite a few options. Some of my personal favorites are the soups and breads. Honestly Im not sure how you could go wrong. They also provide a decent amount samples, which allows you to try before you buy.
Great tasty food options and healthy choices. Friendly and helpful. Very efficient this Thanksgiving holiday and everyday!
Cool selections, great fresh food, friendly knowledgeable people working there, it was a good experience.
Great specialty food store with sandwiches & salads made to order, soup, cheese, prepared dishes, meats, bread, pastries . . . Somewhat pricy but a good place to pick up lunch or dinner. Mostly takeout but there are tables if you want to eat in.
Great sandwiches that they can custom make for you. Make sure to always get a Chocolate Chip cookie from the pastry bar. You will not regret it.
This worker named stephanie working at the salad bar gave me the most holy salad she really squirted that light mayo real good and gave me her number afterwards for some reason and winked at me after I left
Gourmet foodstore (I wouldnt call it a grocery store) with a great deli and sandwich counters. The prepared food is a bit pricey ($9 for a sandwich), but its really tasty. Add to that a great selection of gourmet snacks, and this is a good place for a quick lunch thats beyond fast food.
Didnt have anything to eat other than some samples but what i had was excellent and loved the atmosphere.
I visited this seemingly ordinary establishment to purchase a gift for my darling grand daughter. As soon as I walked in the door, I noticed something was off. The color of the doors was light green, contrary to the photo showing them to be matte silver. Lack of fashion sense aside, the sandwiches were moldy and the desserts were overly sweetened. My grand daughter was quite disappointed with her gift. Do not go here if you want your grandchildren to be happy.
I love Foodstuffs! They have the BEST salads, soups, deli counter, & desserts. Highly recommended.
Great sandwiches
Workers are really nice and make sure you get every thing u need
I stopped by for a nutella blondie brownie, which was quite good! Thick and rich. Perusing the aisles, this seems like a really cool store with quality goods - at a price. I hope to make it back soon, in any case!
Always good food and polite service. Also convenient for quick grocery stops and specialty items.
I strongly dislike this place! Ive shopped there plenty in the past, and I have not had anything close to a pleasant experience. I witnessed atrocious customer service, disappointingly bitter food, and items that were extraordinarily overpriced. Do not go here if you want your life to continue swimmingly.
The employee named Stephanie cele is Ight I guess she’s chill
I agree with everyone who has said the workers there aren’t to friendly, and the experience isn’t to great. Aside from a few workers, the majority of the staff there is rude to not only kids who shop there, but adults to.
Wide selection of savory & sweet. Little pricey, but good splurge.
I have ordered 2 sandwiches here and both didnt taste great. The first was the Vias Paninis and after eating half of it my stomach was upset. I ended up throwing the other half away. The next visit I ordered the chicken Little and not only was is just chicken pieces in mayo, but the bread gave a bitter taste. I only ate because I was hungry. My advice is if you want a great sandwich, go to Great Harvest Bread.
They do make food for the gringos alright like their salads but they also make food for picky people like me like delicious cooked salmon fillet mignon, great beef Strogonoff and pot roast. Made to order salad is not my stuff. I dont care for their 3 thick sandwiches where they put everything but the kitchen sink -I like thin British sandwiches. Their pastries are still subpar except for their exceptional brownies (Best left at room temperature. The chocolate place on Central is incapable of making decent brownies or chocolate cakes by comparison). They put Whole Food hot bar to shame although everything they have have to be heated. Their house Foodstuff branded ratatouille sort of is very good too.
Nice selection of various items.
Fun environment..great food
Good place to find local goodies!
The finest chopped salads in the world deliciousness as well as the panini sandwich
Great selection. Great service
Amazing shop. Everything is delicious
