Eylander Electric was the only local place I could find with the expertise and willingness to work on our old oil furnace with a gas conversion unit. Id tried to source a replacement gas valve online with no luck. They were able to find a replacement part and installed it in a timely manner at a fair price. Everyone I dealt with at Eylander was helpful and polite.
Both times I called with baseboard issues, they came RIGHT out. I didnt have to wait more than an hour. Problem fixed right away. Prices were discussed over the phone, and there were no surprises.Very happy.
I really like this place because they specialize in repair of electric motors, which is becoming a lost art. They are very skilled. They also repair heating systems, but I do not know to what degree.
I really like this company. They had exactly what I needed for a emergency repair for a bathroom fan motor that saved me time and money. I highly recommend
The owner is awesome.
Review of Eylander ElectricThe service for which Eylander was hired was a very simple one for a home – patch up a nicked wire, and install a new outlet on our front porch. After two visits by their electrician and five visits by the rather rude supervisor, and a visit to their business to talk with the owner... the new outlet still does not work. The supervisor is also refusing to come back out to our house to complete the job. They charged $600 for this disservice, $100 of which the supervisor dodged answering for in the invoice – overcharge!!Personalities of the supervisor and owner are disgraceful. In our experience, Jim Eylander (the owner) and John Eylander (his son, the supervisor) are clearly classic males – thinking that women can have no brains, and that customers do not know anything about being an electrician. Jim talks down to customers and does not listen to customers (not because he cant with his age, but because he wont... he ignores what you say and interrupts to continue his own talking.)After their electrician installed the outlet and left, we nudged it (it looked a little crooked) and IT SPARKED AND SMOKED!! Clearly something wrong, and not safe! Immediately called the supervisor and had him send the electrician back. Supposedly, fixing that part of the problem. When we tried actually using the outlet the next day, it was dead. Another visit by the (now angry) supervisor), with no resolution from it. The only outcome was the supervisor saying very angrily that our house was the problem and not his workers job.My wife pointed out where the problem may come from (short answer – they tapped into the wrong wire … the middle of a three-way circuit), but John the supervisor completely ignored her. He does NOT like being told his work is wrong. Same results from talking to Jim the owner. “Youre not an electrician! You dont know what youre talking about!” and interrupting us, the customers, constantly. Half hour conversation with him got absolutely nowhere. (Note: We have installed a dozen programmable thermostats in the house, replaced countless outlets and switches, rewired antique light fixtures, moved high voltage heaters...all by ourselves. We know some things about moving electrons around!)I could go on for 15 more pages (thats how much I wrote for my own records)! But, too many details to be interesting for a review. So, bottom line - $600 for a non-working outlet, and being talked down to almost every step of the way. Zero customer service, 100% customer DISservice.
I had these guys come out in December 2015 and install a 50 amp RV receptacle and sub panel for my RV. I spoke with John and he informed me over the phone that it would be $800.00. I thought great, sounds good. They came out later in the week and preformed the work. They did a great job with everything. My credit card was charged for the agreed upon amount of $800.00. Mid March 2016 I get a bill from them for an additional $300+ in labor and supplies. Not cool.
I have been exclusively using Eylander for my Old Projects, such as new 40 year old breaker styles that were on mobile and manufactured home poles, replacement of said poles and updates needed to for codes of today. The customer service is great for those who are patient and not in a hurry!
I love these guys, Steve does great work, staff is friendly, and they consistently do what they say they will do, (2 other companies called failed to call back or show up), at fair cost. We will upgrade our furnace through this company when it is time.
They used to be great but theyve really gone downhill the last few years. We called them several times last winter for our generator repair, they charged me for every visit and never fixed the problem. We asked what was wrong and the fellow just said something about go-go juice which is not helpful at all. They wanted us to replace the entire generator and the woman answering the phone was very curt when I would call. They literally said what do you want me to do about it? We just had a different company come out to look at it and the guy fixed it in 30 seconds by reattaching a hose. The new repair company explained everything to us and said that it didnt look like any maintenance had been done on it for years. Shame on you Eylander.
I have an old furnace that had a part burn out during the recent cold snap. Armed with the manufacturer and model number of the part, I called all around the Seattle area looking for someone with the part so that I could replace it quickly (and avoid resorting to the internet, shipping something from across the country, and being without heat for more than a day or two).Towards the end of the day searching, I finally found Eylander Electric, and was directed to the owner Jim Eylander who claimed to have the exact part but said he was closing for the day.Looking forward to getting the heat back on ASAP, I took the next day off of work and drove all the way up to the shop in north Everett. Unfortunately, when I showed Jim the broken part (which he had claimed over the phone the day before that he had a replacement for) he stated he had never seen one of those in his life.He then told me if I went down the street to his wholesaler, they could likely source the part from somewhere else in the country in a couple weeks (for a pretty penny). Well no kidding. I told him I also know how to use the internet. This experience was a waste of time.In the end, I got the part off of Amazon in a couple days and had the heat back on for a fraction of what Jim would have charged me for the part.
Ann B.10/15/2015Eylander installed a new furnace, which included a drain to the outside of the house. That pipe was left short, draining under our house. We extended the pipe out of the house through the hole they tried to place the pipe, but it didnt flow down which caused water to backup and rust our the secondary heat pump. When we saw water coming our of our furnace not only did they not diagnose the problem correctly, they didnt show up on the day scheduled for the repair. They are incompetent not only at their work, the communication is horrible. I would run away from the company as fast as you can.
Called them about a run capacitor, told the specs, they said they had it in stock, drove 1 hour to get their from Camano Island, come to find out they didnt have it all. And the Manager and owner of that store were very rude. And said thats the way it is. Well @#$& that sh$thole of a place. Im 62 they kiss my you know what.
Terrible experience on a simple house re-wiring job. Terrible work, slow response, and in the end-way more than what they quoted. Other electricians have told us this should have cost about $6-7k. Eylander charged $16k for poor quality work. Never again.
Stay Away!!OK first off I dont normally write many reviews...But I had to say something here and hopefully save someone from getting ripped off....I wish I would have seen these Googles reviews instead of Yelps before I hired these guys.So here goes I called 3 different companys One told me I was out of their area, one did not return my call and Eylander sounded like they wanted the work so I chose them and only them to get a bid from.John came out and seemed personal enough and we agreed on a price of 4000.00 to change out two complete service panels and also agreed to go T&M on any other work I had them do in regards to adding new circuits for my kitchen remodel. So far so good and the work they did on the first panel was very good and took Erik a day and a half to accomplish. On day two he brought some help to run wires and drill holes and rough in our new pantry area and leave 3 or 4 new wire runs in the attic for future tie in The second Guy was here for 5 hours doing all of that so at 120 per hour the math is easy to figure out right. Erick had maybe 3 hours installing the GFI breakers for those circuits in the panel. So were maybe up to a grand plus parts right? WRONG I got a bill for 2906.00.When I squealed John wasnt phased..he spouted off legalitys for paying for travel time and time spent loading and unloading and even cleaning their van before and after work. Total BSIm self employed and run heavy equipment..My customers are not going to agree to pay me 150.00 per hour to clean my machine or 150.00 PH to stop and buy and load up some pipe on the way to their job.I paid their bill but I fired them and hired a referred electrical contractor from a friend of mine to complete the remainder of the job and I even now have way more for them besides that ..I had to pay 350.00 or a new electrical permit but that was money well spent, as who knows what these shysters would have continued to charge me...Nobody gets into me like that and can expect to retain a working relationship. I want people to make money just like I want to make money, but I dont agree with making a killing off one job. They had 1/4 of the amount of material bill in the extra work they did then what they bid for changing out both panels...So how on earth can they come up with 3/4 of the value of that original bid in half the time spent?.. Well here is one way they try to stick you... All their materials on my T&M billing are also marked up 100% thats right 100% They charged me 85.00 for breakers you or I can buy for 42.00 at Home Depot or lowes. Now wait a minuet...You mean to tell me I have to pay you to stop and buy the stuff at 120.00 per hour and then pay you twice as much for it above what I can buy it for at retail cost myself too boot! HIGHWAY ROBBERY!!Stay away from these guys!!.. They may do good work but so does every other electrician I have ever worked around for a much fairer price.PS: My new guys...Zero Travel Time!!...The law my arss.
Very poor customer service and communication skills from John. Tries to create issues with PUD that engineers already have approved. Would never recomend!!
Avoid this business like the plague and dont ever give them your credit card number under any circumstances. I made this mistake and without telling me upfront about any changes, they charged me a $250.00 deposit and for 15 - 20 minute trip from Everett Have. to Fire trail Rd. a 170.00 trip fee without doing any work. I dont mind paying them a reasonable trip fee of maybe $50.00, but $170.00, I consider highway robbery. After contacting the owner Jim, who was extremely rude and unaccommodating he hung up on me with out budging. So, I was forced to call my credit card company and dispute the charges. He also hung up on them. What a business man he is??? So, do yourself a favor and stay away from this business and also warn others. Who knows how many other people they have scammed who did not bother to write a review.
Ridiculous markup on material costs. Get ready to overpay!
Tested a capacitor on the spot and had replacement available.
