Really good experience over several visits to Dominion Camera. The team, especially Gary, are really knowledgeable and helpful. Some highlights:- Fixed my film camera for free after taking it in- Good film development and quick turnaround- Spent several days and hours going over a new camera to purchase. They were helpful and patient to make sure I got what would fit my needs.Highly recommend.

This store is staffed by knowledgable photographers and is very helpful. It is dense with products and can draw on more from a sister store nearby. It may seem inaccessible but there is plenty of parking in the rear, and a front and rear entrance. It is right on Rt 7 in Falls Church. Products are enthusiast and pro quality, not just P&S. Processing is also available.

Im not a camera guy, nor am I that much of a tech guy in general. All I know is that I had a giant bag of film that I inherited from my late mother who never got around to developing it. Dominion Camera was the only place I found to help me develop/scan all of it, and their customer service and staff won me over the whole time. As simple as each transaction was, they made me enjoy stopping in and took care of me the whole way through (and made sure I didnt get charged for scans on blank film!). My bag of film is now empty and I wish I had a reason to continue giving this hometown shop my money; I really appreciate them.

Ive been here a few times, out of all of the camera stores Ive been at so far. These have been the nicest people. That may not be shocking but if you visit some camera stores in DC, the staff arent so nice over there. But these people here at Dominion camera so really kind and helped me select which lenses to purchase for my cameraI highly recommend this shop! My favorite camera shop :)

Me and my boyfriend went in looking for a film camera and we picked one out for a fair price! But when we left we noticed it was broken :( but we went back in asking what we could do, he said fix which would take a week, refund or exchange for a different camera for same price! I was so pleased with the professionalism this place had! He helped put the new film in and showed us how to use it! Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for cameras and film!He felt awful about giving us a defective camera but he was very nice about the whole situation. Thank you Dominion Camera!

I’ve been meaning to write this review for a while now. I love supporting small businesses, and this one is one of my favorites. It is right near my office and taking my film to get developed and print is so nice. I appreciate that unlike the big corporations (CVS, Walmart, etc) they only make you pay for the photos that they found, so if a piece of film was bad, they don’t charge you for a print of that. I also enjoy that it is so quickly done! Unlike the big corporations that take up to like 2 weeks, they took only a fraction of that time. The quality of the picture paper was nice too- I always go with a matte finish. Nicest people ever work there, and overall I would highly recommend! I know this sounds like a fake review, but I promise this is 100% legit. I can’t wait to take more of my film to get developed.

Yesterday I talked to Gary at Dominion Camera to ask if they repaired Kodak slide projectors. He said no they didn’t and didn’t carry replacement parts but that he was very familiar with slide projectors and would be happy to look at it. I carried it to their store where Gary quickly diagnosed and fixed the problem. Before I left the store he made sure I understood how to avoid such a problem in the future. He couldn’t have been nicer and now my husband has no excuse for not sorting through all the old family slides. Highly recommend this establishment.

Outstanding film processing, much better than any pharmacy service, and theyre capable of same day service if you drop off your film by 10 am on the days they process. Definitely the highest quality prints and scans Ive ever gotten and for the same price as the pharmacy locations who take two weeks and never return your negatives. With that said I interacted very sparingly with the staff and have not used any other services/purchased any other equipment from them, so I have no perspective in that regard. But I can safely and highly recommend them for film processing.

I was interested in a compact camera with a large sensor, and initially inquired about a specific model, which they did have in stock and at a good price. But I was then informed that their policy is that they wont put a battery in so that you can turn the camera on and get a sense of things like how menus are set up, how responsive the autofocusing is, etc. I also mentioned another similar line of cameras I was interested in, and didnt really get any kind of response from the sales clerk. It struck me as a strange way to run a shopβ€”if I didnt want to interact with the products or staff members, I would just shop online.I had a much better experience at District Camera, where I got to try out the cameras and the staff recommended similar models I hadnt considered. They even suggested I come back with an SD card so I could snap some pictures and check out the image quality when I got home.

This little radiant gem is tucked away next to Browns hardware. When you first walk in the smell of high school darkrooms permeates the air and creates a wonderful nostalgia. There is always plenty of staff to help you with your photography needs be it digital or analog. They have a wonderful variety of both used and new gear. In fact, I bought my favorite camera there at a very reasonable price, my Nikon F3, which I love and use to this day. And the best part is they have the best price in town on processing your film and scanning. If your passion is photography or youre excited about trying it, this is your first must stop!

I was going on a trip and so I wanted my camera clean. I tried to clean the sensor myself, the night before with special swabs, but I left smudges. I called Dominion in the morning and explained that I needed it quickly before my flight. Now, I dont think they can guarantee this for every customer, every time, but they cleaned my lens in under 4 hour turnaround. Great customer service. Even took before and after photos to show how dirty my lens was and how clean they got it.

I was having trouble with my old digital camcorder and brought it to Dominion Camera in Falls Church to see if it could be repaired. They said it would cost me $35 to have them look at it and give me an idea of what it would cost to fix. The zoom was intermittently going to full zoom all by itself and sometimes the tape would not load. I decided to invest the $35. After about a month, they told me that it would cost another $140 to fix it. I could have bought a used one for about $175, but I already had $35 invested in this one and a used one had no guarantee that it may not work. So, I decided it was better to have a newly repaired one than buy a used one and had Dominion go ahead with the repair. After about 5 or 6 weeks I called to find out the status of the repair. They could not find anything and said they would call me back. They never did. Their records are a total mess. After many more calls and visits to the store to try and find out what happened to my camera, they finally, after 3 months called and told me my camera was ready. I went to the store and loaded in a tape, which loaded OK and looked through the viewfinder and the zoom seemed to be steady. I paid them and took the camera home. They have a limited warranty period for repairs. I put the camera into the case and put it in the closet as I don’t really use it much. When I finally took it out to use it, it was past the warranty period. I was filming for about 5 minutes and then the zoom started doing the same thing it did before it was β€œrepaired”. I went back to Dominion a few days later and told them that the camera had not been fixed. I explained to them that I never had used the camera from the time I picked it up until a few days prior to going back to complain about the faulty repair. They said that it was past the warranty and they could do nothing about it. After I complained repeatedly about their lousy customer service, the guy their finally said he would look at it again to see if they did something wrong, but would not guarantee that he would β€œfix” it without further payment. Since I had nothing to lose at this point, I told him that it was a step in the right direction and to go ahead and look at it. Then this total thief had the nerve to insist that I pay him another $35 FOR A DIAGNOSTIC FEE!!! I could not believe it!!! I told him that the problem was the same as it was the last time that they did not fix so why in the world would I ever pay another $35 so they could look at it again!!! THIS IS TOTAL B-S!!!THESE GUYS ARE TOTAL THIEVES AND I RECOMMEND THAT EVERYONE STAY AS FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE AS POSSIBLE.THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT CUSTOMERS AND ONLY ABOUT HOW MUCH OF YOUR MONEY THE CAN STEAL.

Arguably one of the worst places in the City of Falls Church. I purchase a GoPro from there, they gave me the incorrect advice on what was compatible with it and what wasnt. They wanted to charge me a re stoking fee then said if the package was broken, then they couldnt re stock it. They had no response or no enthusiasm to even try and rectify what was their lack of knowledge and incorrect advice and guidance when purchasing the product. Might as well have gone on Amazon. Would have got it cheaper as well.

My daughter is using my old Nikon F and F2; they use a proprietary cable release that can only be gotten (usually) from eBay. I was visiting for the 4th of July; daughter wanted to take fireworks pictures. Getting a tripod was easy, but the cable release?I told my Ex, wed need a camera store that looks like a Hoarders episode. (I mean that in the nicest possible way)She said I know just the place. She was right - they scrounged around in the back, and they had one. They have tons of other cool-ass vintage gear, too, so I also bought a pre-AI Nikkor 50mm 1.4. It was all I could do to not to buy myself a Canon-made Leica clone - I really need one, and if youre passionate about photography, you need one too.Service was 1st rate. Many camera stores sell cheap tripods at huge markups; that wasnt the case here, either.Highly recommended. Next visit, Ill go there for the weird Nikon F-style proprietary hot shoe adapter. I bet theyll have it.

Not sure why some of these commentors are down on DC. It is a bit of a throwback to the days of Dektol and wooden tongs, but thats the beauty of the place. If all you care about is maxing your megapixels and using absurd and dorky digital effects, go to Best Buy. Analog is still alive and this is one of the best places to find it. Customers are welcome to look through cardboard boxes of random camera parts in search of the right shutter release button for their Leica M4 or a lens shade for a Rokkor 90mm lens. And if you find it, theyll sell it to you for a buck. One of the best things they do is develop good ol film and scan your images to a CD so you can manipulate the photo to your little hearts desire. Go there before its gone for good.
