It’s a diner. And then so much more! Grew up going here but the changes to the menu are so welcomed. I can’t believe I had a Vegan Eggs Benedict that was GOOD! If I had to compare the menu, I’d rank it with Busboys and Poets: a solid mix of familiar items with enough of a switch-up to keep you trying new things for a while. Service is delightful. We had the Just Eggs Benedict, my sister had the fried chicken sandwich and a side waffle. Simple and filling! Can’t wait to bring the rest of the fam here for a casual meal that’s bound to impress them!
Atmosphere was fun and comfortable. Service was friendly, but waitress (Helen) never came back to check on me at all and when she eventually brought the check a while after I finished eating, I was finally able to ask for a refill on coffee for the first time. She was super-friendly so it almost makes up for the lack of attention. The eggs Benedict were very good once I pulled the tomato off the muffin from under the ham--I know chefs like to put their own spin on things, but this was not a good combo--Hollandaise was also a bit too lemony for my taste, but all-in-all, not the very best Ive had, but far from the worst. I would order again.
This Silver Diner never fails to impress me. The staff is quick and efficient, always friendly, and generous. The inside of the restaurant has that 50s diner vibe; its really colorful and clean.I always get the Ancient Grain Shrimp Bowl from here. The salad is so good, I have to get it AT LEAST one a week! I also got the Brownie Decadence for dessert. Generous portions and tasty. I always walk out as a happy and very satisfied customer.
The server was very rude to my friend mainly because she is a female single mother. On top of that was disrespectful to us as well. Besides that messed up some of our food. Now that being said, the food was pretty decent it was the best part about it. It is not worth 20$ dollars though so way to over priced.
This place is located in the same parking lot as my hotel, so we decided to walk across the street bc we hear the music loud and clear daily. The vibe seems inviting. Entering the venue, youre quickly greeted. There is outdoor seating under the tents. There are lots of options on the menu to include classic shakes. The best feature was the personal jukebox at every table. Although there is a flow of music, my choices never played. Its a family friendly atmosphere. Come get you some ice cream and bring your quarters for the jukebox
The food here was fantastic. I had 3 egg omelette, daughter had Atlanta flounder tacos, and husband had Bar Harbor fish and chips.
I have very different memories of this place. I used to live across the street and would frequent the diner on weekends and after work. Food was always innovative, fresh, and delicious. After I moved out of state and had a kid, we would visit Silver Diner whenever were in town, and my daughter would get so excited. Its a slice of Americana, and the staff used to be so kid friendly. Shed get crayons, balloons and a great meal. We just visited this week after being away for about a year and a half, and it is different. Its not the happy place we remember it to be. Just a regular old diner with decent food.
Great food, and fresh coffee! I was surprised that they have many different menus to choose from.
It was great..The food was fantastic but also the staff(at least the server that served us)did a fantastic job.Nice experience
Had the medallions with garlic spinach and substituted the fries for mash. Everything was seasoned perfectly and so flavorful. The wait staff was friendly, attentive and the atmosphere was great. I highly recommend this place
So I found this place randomly on Google. We were looking for somewhere casual to eat and I was drawn to their menu because it denotes what is gluten free, vegan, vegetarian, etc. I appreciate that because my son has a gluten intolerance so it took the guess work out of finding a meal for him.We got there around 6pm and were seated right away. Ordered our drinks and looked through the menu. So. Many. Options! But they were good options! Breakfast or dinner? Healthy or a heart attack. There is something for everyone! Our food came quickly. Can I just say how much I love their fries? Oh man. So good. My husband had a burger and inhaled it. Our waitress refilled our drinks, but wasnt dropping by our table every 5 seconds. Thats a good thing. She let us have a family meal. Also, they ACTUALLY had sweet tea. It wasnt too sweet either. My hats off to their tea person.I so wish we had time to stay for a milkshake. They sounded DELICIOUS. The service was great and the food was good. I got the coconut pancakes and they hit the spot for breakfast for dinner. As we were walking out, more people were walking in. Its clear that they have a good following. And bonus: theyre open late.We fully intend on bringing our friends and family here. The atmosphere was very welcoming and relaxing. It truly felt like a throwback diner. If you havent been, go. Go check it out.
DO NOT waste your time trying to eat at this location. My girlfriend and I sat down to eat dinner at 5:40 and didn’t leave until 7:40. The restaurant wasn’t that busy at all. There was a couple that sat down 10 minutes after us and they were waited on & served first and were able to eat there food and eat and leave way before us. We waited forever for them to bring out our food and my girlfriend only got chicken tenders. My meal was the surf and turf. My food came out cold like it had been sitting there for 30 minutes. The Portion sizes are ridiculously small, if you like having your stomach full do not eat here. Overall .5 out of 10 experience at this restaurant.
The food was good, the price was okay. I got a good milkshake. The bathroom was clean. My waiter kept my drink full.
A pocket of relaxation and respite from the craziness of the world, Silver Diner has come a long way from the years past. A thoughtful menu backed by local ingredients, friendly staff, and a nice decor. My visit was all smiles and Ill be sure to be back. I ate the eggs Benedict and drank a nice hot chocolate. I cant think of a better way to end a long day.
Very impressed with their menu! Vegan tacos! Quinoa in many of their plates. Attentive servers came to check on us regularly.
The food was good but the customer service was horrible. I recently had lunch at this location with a friend. After leaving the restaurant we went shopping next door at H-Mart, and I realized my wallet was missing. Panicked, I immediately called the restaurant and was told no wallet had been found. Still not satisfied, my friend also called and asked the person who answered the phone to please check around the table where we had been sitting. Again we were told there was no wallet. Since I still didnt trust the staffs competence we decided to walk back over. To my relief, as I approached the outdoor table where we had been sitting, I saw my wallet under the chair. I couldnt believe that even after two phone calls the staff was too lazy to check on a customers very important lost item. It also surprised me that the table hadnt even been bussed yet and we left a good 15 -20 minutes earlier. Being busy is no excuse. We were there in early afternoon after the breakfast / lunch rush. The restaurant was empty inside and had only a few outdoor diners. This incident infuriates me because I wasnt calling about some lost sunglasses or something minor. Losing a wallet is a big deal and major hassle. Having worked in customer service myself, I find this unacceptable. This incident indicates an overall lack of concern for customers and reflects poorly on the staff and management.Beyond the incident with the wallet, I wasnt particularly thrilled with the service even while dining. I found the server to be less than interested in waiting on our table and actually seemed annoyed to have to come outside on a beautiful spring day. Despite the food being tasty I would not recommend this location due to very substandard customer service.
Great place to have a nice breakfast with family.
Everything is good, but especially their burgers.
This was one of the best Silver Diners Ive been to. I ate outside under their tent (they have a couple,.which are.in the front and back parking lots. The service was amazing, the food was delicious. The staff was extremely friendly. The restroom was clean and well-stocked. Definitely worth the visit!!!
My wife and daughters love coming to silver diner we are always treated with joy. We have been customers for over 10 years.we have had bad service a few times but managers have always listened to our complaints.management have always offered us to not charge us or offered us coupons for next visit we have always refused free meals as we would never put a complaint just to get a free meal. every time we have had an issue management on duty have always stepped up. Thanks
Silver Diner is the quintessential upscale neighborhood diner with every classic all American diner menu staple to new and progressive organic, healthy concepts to boot. All food is locally sourced and served in a clean, friendly 1950s themed setting. You always know what youre going to get in quality quickly delivered meals by a friendly staff. I frequently see local neighbors meeting friends and family for a great meal.. Their menu is diverse and vast. I highly recommend it as I look forward to visiting them again soon myslef.
MY first time at this Silver Diner. Service was great! The waitress was very attentive and professional.
Eclectic menu, healthy ingredients. First class!
Love, love, love this place. The food and service are consistently very good.
The food is always fantastic here, definitely recommend it. The service is great too with friendly servers and not a long wait.
Awesome menu- anyone can eat well here! Vegetarian, Vegan, GF. Selection is great for kids and farm fresh
Food was good- my boy thinks they were light on his milkshake. Good spot
Great diner atmosphere with a broader menu than most. Food and service was excellent. Loved the nostalgic juke box choices.
This place has come a long way. I must say the waffles and eggs are tasty and my family enjoyed the pastrami.
Great place for brunch with an atmosphere I havent experienced since the 70s. Loved the food and the ambiance.
Nice clean atmosphere. Food and service were both good.
This is my groups favorite place to eat. Any meal is fabulous.
The meals are good. And friendly staff
Their vegan options are so darn delicious! I had their veggs Benedict 2 days in a row and almost went for a 3rd! I’ve waiting a week so I’m ready for that 3rd now… 😋
Super disappointing chicken “country” fried steak. Terrible sausage gravy (like really bad), under seasoned, and hardly crispy. The toast was good at least, so it gets 2 stars.
Food at Silver Diner is always good, they have a good variety and also some healthy stuff (if thats your thing, I prefer the grasy burgers xD).The staff is always friendly and welcoming. Well be back for sure. 100% recommended
Clean and great food and service at reasonable prices.
Very good meals overall. It was fast, warm and decent sized portions. The soups and salads were significantly different in size, but both were tasty. The main courses were very good. From a breakfast to a steak and meatloaf dinner the portions were ample to knock down a decent sized hunger. The main meals, one bottle beer, a hot coccoa and a soda came to 60.00 before tip. Pretty reasonable.
Ankit was amazing. Excellent customer service. Excellent vegan options. Just get vegan butter.
Perfectly fine for a diner, but nothing special.
Had a late lunch with my son, service was fast and friendly, love their sandwiches and the fact they also serve brunch all day! Food was excellent.
If you want a homey environment, this silver diner is where you want to visit. The menu has so many options that makes it hard to decide what to get, but thats first world problems. I got the kickin short rib burger, fries and a mojito. It was so good and juicy. The servers are hilarious. They either know how to put on a good show or theyve been around a while. It was packed even at 2pm on a Friday, but they were fun. Kudos to Helen and Sirgut for brightening up my Friday even when they were busy! Definitely will be back!
Good place, friendly staff, new menu selections, friendly atmosphere, simply a good place to go.Bring a friend, bring a small group, bring the family, it is worth the visit.Oh, the prices are good too.
Excellent blueberry pancakes! Surprisingly progressive menu with gluten free options, cage free eggs, nitrate free bacon.
Every time I go to silver diner its consistently really good.Period!I wanted one of the smoothies without the ice cream and they did it for me - no questions asked. I later found out that they didnt even know how to do it without the Frozen component and they tried it anyway just because I asked. Thats amazing service. Thats really what going out for a meal should be about - the service and the quality of the food.I also like that the dishes are customizable. If you want something more of something or something else in combination with hyphen hell make it for you. This is what diner is all about! Growing up in New York and eating in the tri-state up there ya know that when you walk into a diner you going to get a good meal. Thats the same story for Silver Diner.
Great food! And service was wonderful!!
Food was good as usual, but our service was bad. Our waiter constantly forgot about the items that we requested and I had to continue to remind him to bring things. Also he acted like the restaurant was busy or that he had something better to do. I should mention that there were a handful of us in there. However, my wife and I still love the many options of the silver diner and will be back.
The staff is great, the food less desired.
Excellent spinach, feta, and cremini mushroom omelette. Healthy yet yummy. I especially liked the touch of big slices of quality tomatoes on tops.
Menu selection is super great and loved the service.
Just ok. Prices are a bit higher than Id like to see, even for DC. Plus, it looks like a classic diner, but all the food seems like its trying to be fancy. Can I just get some scrambled eggs and bacon without breaking the bank?Food was tasty and service was good, though, so I guess theres that.
Adequate but generic, bland food. Typical of taking a diner theme corporate.
Love Silver Diner clean, good food friendly service.
Had brunch there, everything was delicious. I had the eggs Benedict, and I definitely recommend.
I love Silver Diner at Merrifield. I always ask for Jon as the server for the table. He has been the best! Remembers my favorite meals, including details like sauce on the side, bison beef, and double order of white toast for eggs. More importantly Jon is fantastic with my disabled adult son, always striking up a conversation and remembering to bring two orders of coleslaw. We even had a birthday party there before corona with our son’s friends and Jon was just fantastic!! We love SD for breakfast and for our Tuesday night hang out. A family tradition that we started over 25 years ago when are almost 30 year old daughter was just 2 at the Arlington Wilson Blvd location. But now Merrifield is our home. Thanks SD and Jon for the fantastic service and food.
Good food, itty bitty seating space.
Great diner with great food and drinks. We got two orders of eggs with the tempeh bacon (great smoky flavor but off-putting texture) and the veggie sausage (amazing but a little tough), and one order of the vegan mac and cheese (DELICIOUS with the most amazing vegan meatballs). The space was super retro and cute, too. Would definitely recommend!
Our orders took a while but good food
One my fev place for weekend brunch and late nite dinner.
It was great. We will visit again.
I had the worst experience in this silver diner I was served by Anna microwaved eggs never will I come here again
Always a great place with an extensive menu of excellently prepared food. They are very busy at times so service can be a bit slow but they are busy for a reason.
Brunch was great. Was seated almost immediately.
I ordered $15 Vegan stir fry to go (pick up). For $15 I expect a bit more food. It was Barely enough for me and I don’t eat much.. especially since this plate didn’t have meat it should be a bit more. I don’t mind the price for a meatless dish but giving me so little food?.. ridiculous
Quick service, fresh food. Try the shrimp and grits for brunch. Delicious and filling!
Best.food and service, it became to my favorite restaurant
The menu has lots of options...even healthy choices. wait staff was super helpful.
If you havent tried silver diner you should. The menu is inspired and definitely something for everyone. Its unexpected and beyond diner food
The sign at the back says wait for someone... 10 minutes later, the waiter that was watching us all this time said, “the entrance is the other way”. I asked why does this sign say wait? No answer. The arrogance! Visited this location after 3 years... won’t visit again...
Great service from Strawberry!
The food is always good and good for you.
2020 update.. I go here almost weekly so I have to say 5 stars. I always get the bruschetta toast now. Ive had every vegetarian meal here and thats my favorite. The impossible burger isnt bad here too.. The bun is pretty good. My husband likes the bison huevos and its shown in the pics provided. As you can see there can sometimes be too much sauce on the bruschetta toast, or too many tomatoes, but usually its pretty on point. Eggs Benedict is so good here, maybe the best in town. The shakes are so good, and the hot cocoa is great.. The pancakes are usually OK, but can be hit or miss. The service is great in the mornings typically and there are 4 people who have been here so long I know to expect good food and service when theyre here. Sirgut is one of them, always great service with her.
Great food and service!
Food was delicious first time I had a plant-based dinner. I will definitely try it again.
Delicious breakfast! Excellent, friendly service.
We enjoyed our meal and the staff was friendly. The restaurant was clean and we felt comfortable relaxing without our masks.
We usually love the family dinner at Silver Diner, but tonight was different. They served us raw chicken tenders - completely raw. They did comp us dinner, but now I have to worry about food poisoning. Just a terrible experience.
