From start to finish this was such a super easy and enjoyable process. The owner is hands on and personally reached out to me witch was a really nice touch. I live in Seattle and they handled the shipping and packaging like real professionals. Great experience buying my first brand-new road bike, which was a very specific model I had a very hard time finding. They even helped me finish assembling my bike rack and installed my bottle cage. Will do business with them again, despite living 3 hours away. Still totally worth it.

Was on a long bike ride and stopped in here to check it out. Great solid store they dont have a massive show room of bikes, but they have a great selection of bike accessories. Definitely coming back to pick up a few big budgets items I saw. For today I just Purchased a State Park Biking permit, which if youre biking in Madison long distance it is worth it. Overall this bike shop is solid. Good customer service and good prices.

I was having trouble with my brakes so I went in and the service staff was great. They looked at my bike and were able to find the problem and fix it super quickly. They even helped me load the bike back into my car. Would definitely go there again!

We just went five minutes ago, it was a long two hours drive to get a $4k bicycle that you have online, we look for the bicycle and we found it, we ask to try it, so we did it, and when we decided that we want the bicycle, first we ask about to different prices (same bike different size) the guy that “help us” says he doesn’t know anything about different prices but he can call the manager to get the approval, then we asked about paying with a credit that you have in your website and he says he doesn’t know anything about it, that’s better that we get the bike online, are you kidding? That’s the reason that we drove 2 hours!! He says his computer doesn’t work to get credits and he doesn’t know anything about it, man if you really doesn’t want to sell bikes just put a sign outside saying that!! Honestly he was really condescending and unhelpful with us, a really bad experience.

After a long weekend of research online, I finally decided to spend a good chunk of change on a new bike. Unfortunately, the model that I wanted is scarce worldwide due to covid-19 and all that has gone with it in the bike industry. Strangely, a deep google search led me to Fitchburg Cycles webstore which listed the exact model that I wanted. Amazingly, this place was only 85 miles from my house. I immediately bought the bike, sight unseen, and wrote a small note in the notes field at online checkout that I wanted to test it out for proper fit, since I never had actually seen the item in person. This was Sunday night at 7:30. About 20 minutes later, my phone rang, and the guy on the other line was the shop owner, Edwin, who was working late and received my order and wanted to touch base about my purchase. He helped assure me - after getting some info about the reasoning behind my purchase - that my choice was indeed a good one for what I was after. This was, mind you, after I had already paid for the bike. You just dont get customer service like that much anymore.Two days later, I picked up the bike at the shop - an hour and a half away from my house. The staff was courteous and helpful and allowed me to ride on the bike path behind the shop to be sure I felt comfortable with my new ride.Though the shop is a decent drive away from my house, I will be back, and my wife will likely purchase her next bike from the folks at Fitchburg Cycles. I highly recommend them

Horrible customer service, absolutely horrible. I called the store regrading a minor repair issue for tire inflation and they suggested instead of making an appointment that I just bring the bike in for a quick repair. I brought the bike in and stood at the customer service desk behind another person. She was talking with the service person for about 10 minutes and I waited patiently. At about that time, another couple came in looking for service, was greeted by the salesperson, and waited in line several feet behind me. Within 30 seconds of their arrival, another service person walked around the desk and began assisting them rather than me even though I was clearly the next person in line. I could not believe what just happened as now the person in front of me and the person behind me were both getting service and I continued to stand there. Shocked by what had just transpired, I immediately made my way out the door. A salesperson attempted to convince me to return to the store and I abruptly told him absolutely not and that I was done with their store. I bought my first bike here and it is now the last bike I will ever buy here, or any other purchase for that matter. In this time of businesses shutting down and everybody encouraging to help local business, you try to do the right thing. Unfortunately Fitchburg Cycles has found a way to do the wrong thing.

The line for service today was stretching out the door and nobody in the store would even talk to me. I ended up putting my bike back in my car and driving over to Budget Bicycles on Regent Street 5 minutes away and someone was able to talk to me right away. What a mess, not going back.

My husband and I have tricycles, One of them had a flat front tire and needed a new brake cable. Eric at the shop couldnt have been more helpful in taking care of our needs. We are an elderly couple and apprfeciated him taking care of us efficiently. We will be repeat customers.

My rear derailer bracket snapped so I took it into the shop and was told 2 weeks to get it fixed up. 3 weeks in I called about it and was told, we call when its done. 5 weeks I call and was told by the employee who answered let me talk to the owner, ill call you back never got a call. I call back again to check up and was told should be done by the 7th. I call today, (Oct 16) 2 months later, to check up once again. Was told ( oh ya, your bikes done.). The kid behind the counter tried to charge me full price and labor until I told him to keep the bike and have the owner call me. The business itself is good im sure, but the service dept is a joke, go somewhere else.

No-nonsense shop. Did great work on our bike and helped pick out replacement parts. Bike functions great now! Would rate it as 5 stars but I asked if they could hang on to the brake caliper they replaced, but when I picked up the bike they couldn’t find it and haven’t followed up in a week. Not a big deal because everything else went smoothly.

I stopped in with a friend to browse a few weeks ago and the store seemed well-varied - but what this review is really about is the staff/owner.My wife and I were out exploring the local trails and got fairly far from home before noticed her tires were getting very low on air - we pulled over by Fitchburg Cycles to try our luck at finding assistance. As one might expect on a Monday after 6pm, the store was closed.We were going to turn back, then as luck would have it, a Fitchburg Cycles company truck pulled up right in front of us before we departed. I am not quite sure if the gentleman driving was an owner or employee, but he had keys to the shop and noticed our predicament as he unlocked the door. He then took it upon himself to fill up our tires and offered to refill our water bottles with cold water before we got on with our ride, all after store hours.That kindness saved our evening and allowed us to continue our long ride and get home alright that night. Its an enormous green flag for a business to have this sort of attitude towards folks in the biking community, and I will definitively be stopping back in a few months when I am ready for an upgrade.Their values are there, and so should your business!

Visited the shop because I had a tire that was sticking and dragging. Turned out to be a simple issue with a brake line being out of place. They had it fixed in seconds(no charge) and me on my way.Knowledgeable staff also recommended that I store my bike lock differently to prevent the issue in the future.Great service! Just an update four years later ... continues to be one of my favorite bike shops in town. They almost always have the parts I need, and that convenience is huge. All the other stuff below is still true!These guys are friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable - excellent mechanics. They have done very minor things for free, and have been very reasonable for paid repairs, and have very prompt turnaround. Prices in the shop are very reasonable, and better than some of the other local options.

First time visiting and will definitely be a returning customer. The folks there are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about specific technical details of the bicycles in stock, but at the same time are approachable and willing to help out as best as they can. In summary, this is what a bicycle shop should be.

Have to change my old review after being told they wanted to charge me over 3 times more then other local shops to assemble a new bike. I understand shops want you to buy through them but 3 times is ridiculous. 250 for less then a hours work was just silly also considering I was going to buy a bunch of stuff in the store as well, another shop is doing it for 75 dollars. How is that kind of difference even possible. If you dont want to assemble new bikes then dont, ripping people off is not nice. I and my family had used them before, bought a bike and got some service, felt great about them an. Bike tech was also kind of rude and very short about the whole thing.Edit: was told by the bike shop that assembled my bike they called the owner, Edwin, because they were as surprised as I was at what they were charging. He told them he just doesnt want to assemble new bikes bought online. Then just dont, politely tell people that instead of robbing people that are not that savvy. Just not the way to be a good shop. I would have happily left and used them again if they had just said we do not work on new bikes bought online, because I truly do understand the difficulty of brick and mortar shops have. No one in town carried the bike I bought/wanted. Just dont understand this guy.

Fitchburg Cycles always has excellent customer service, especially in the service department. The mechanics have talked me out of expensive fixes that werent needed to guide me to just what was. When fix times are long they find time to fit my fix into down times so my bike is ready to ride faster.

1 stars is not low enough. Tried to order a part for my Cannonade mountain bike, gave description of the part I needed over the phone. They had to order the part from Cannonade and when I went to pick it up they had ordered the wrong part. They made me pay 50% of the cost of the part because they could not return it. Mechanic looked at my bike and placed an order for the correct part. When I came back next week, they had ordered a different wrong part. I called back and told them they still havent given me the right part and they blamed it on me. Will never go back.

I went into the shop to check out their selection of Cannondale Mountain Bikes, and Edwin the owner showed me the new Beast of the East. The store is light and Airy and the staff is exceptionally knowledgable. I wasnt ready to make a purchase, but they will be my go to when I do.There is tons of amazing paintings and cool custom fixtures that make the store perfect for all types of riders.

These guys are great if you dont know much about bikes and want to have all the details of your repairs mansplained to you. It will take way more time than youd expect and cost twice as much as the competitors, but to be fair, they will be very thorough and will explain things to you very, very, very thoroughly. If you actually do know a thing or two, just want the basics done and dont need a long tutorial about everything youve ever done wrong with your bike in the past. (or in my case, everything your friend whose bike you were kind enough to take into service did wrong that you had nothing to do with... and you had explained that up front to the staff... ), then there are cheaper, faster places you can go. This is the right place for some, not for all.

The most unprofessional staff I have ever had the misfortune to encounter. I literally got told off and yelled at by a bike technician for not knowing the appropriate name for gear shift housing. After being belittled and lectured about the struggles of providing for a family on his bike technician salary, he sold me the wrong length of housing. Manager sorted things out but I am never going to this shop again.

Brought in my bike to get a new tire, was sold one that didnt fit. Brought it back the next day the owner told me it wasnt their fault and charged me to fix it.
