We did a Groupon for my daughter so she could be “ scuba certified” no one told us she had to go to a lake to have it done after and it would cost more money which isn’t the issue the issue was the fact it was cold out so they was supposed to call us back to set it up never did. So I’m unsure if she ever got certified or not. But I’m thinking I wasted the $300 for nothing and the lady there was rude from the min we walked in. She was to worried about her friends and her phone and yes she was a adult not a kid.
Awesome staff and awesome instructor.
Scuba Shack made getting Open Water certified very straightforward and fun. Because I knew I wanted all of my own equipment, the most stressful part for me was the buying decisions. Matt could not have been a bigger help in this department. He was extremely patient, knowledgeable and answered all of my questions (sometimes more than once). Scuba gear can be pricey (buying it all is NOT required) but I found Scuba Shacks prices to be comparable to online prices. Not only that but they add extra value if you pay for all of your gear right away. My dad and I were both able to get wetsuits, hoods, gloves and flashlights for FREE. Thats a $500 value! Another thing they offer is pool time for life, let me assure you this is no small feature. My dad and I practiced many times before certification and thus, felt very prepared and comfortable. We continue to go back to practice before dive trips. I know it probably sounds like I work for them or something but I just feel good service is so rare these days that when I experience it I should share the love. Scuba Shack did a great job preparing me for my open water exam and I am excited to continue with my scuba certifications.
This is a great spot for anyone who is interested in scuba diving training. The staff members are wonderful people. Very flexible to your needs. Glad I came here to get my certification. Made new friends as well.
Karl and Tony were our instructors for our ope water certification. They made us feel comfortable through out the process. They are all very knowledgeable and helpful! They werent pushy on selling us high dollar gear. Great experience and we look forward to diving with them in the future!
I was just certified last year. My instructor made class fun and the dive cons were very nice. I really enjoyed my certification weekend at Gilboa Quarry, everyone was helpful and caring. I had to call my last dive due to the fact I couldnt get equalized. The instructors were understanding and supportive. In fact, the following weekend an instructor and dive con met me at a different quarry to get me certified. The Scuba Shack is truly a place to learn to dive.
Love the Scuba Shack and the people. The staff are so incredibly knowledgeable and supportive. Change your world and dive with the best. Ask about Club Narcosis.
Friendly staff. Great experience with the dive instructors. Always willing to give advice on the best places to dive and the time of year. Cant wait until I can get back in the water!
Great dive shop and all the employees and super friendly I would highly recommend doing dive training here.
The staff at the Scuba Shack is fantastic. My 16 year old and 10 year old daughters were both certified through the Shack. I wouldnt have even considered doing that if I didnt have complete trust in the entire Shack family. Thanks for being our dive shop.Mark J.Cincinnati
Signed up for private lessons and bought equipment to the tune of $1k. After a month they still hadnt scheduled my private lessons. I had given them the days of Mon, Wed, Fri evenings, before 7:30pm on Tue or Thurs or anytime on Sat-Sun. They never even reached out to me. The two times I called I was told someone was calling me the next day which ended up being lies. When I bought all the equipment back they tried to schedule for weekday mornings, sorry, I work, hence the private lessons. Saving grace is that they didnt put up a fight on a full refund. I am not pleased with having a month of my time wasted waiting around for them though.
I took my lessons here at the Scuba Shack in 2008. I had a great time in class and my open water certification was out standing. After a couple of years of diving with the staff and fun divers I wanted to become part of the staff and to be able to pass along to others, the joy of diving that I learned through my experiences here. I became an instructor in 2012 mainly due to the experiences I had at the Scuba Shack.
The scuba shack is a great place to discover the fun of diving.they teach you theskills you need for open water and continuing education.the staff are helpful, knowledgeable and above all friendly.their dive trips are well organized andpriced reasonably there is always a shack diver at a local dive site during dive seasonready to dive with you.give them a call and get started become a diver!!!!!
Super friendly atmosphere and very knowledgeable staff and instructors! Highly recommend them to all my family and friends!!
Matt and the instructors were super with our students. They loved the experience. Matt even talked to our group about careers after certification.
I hate even giving a one star review but can’t post unless I do. Took my tank in for a hydro and stuff and was told 2-3 weeks and now after a month of them having it i still don’t have it back . All because the guy forgot to send it out
Spent a lot of $$$, wasted a lot of time in the end. The indoor pool instruction went great with Jeff (who was a great instructor!). Jeff was patient, understanding, and great at explaining things. My diving certification experience at Gilboa was not so great. The staff that showed up were not-so-friendly Dive Leaders. They behaved as though they didnt actually want to be there. They made comments like Well, I wasnt even suppose to work today. They didnt safety check our equipment setup (we were still students) before we went diving that day. My husband jumped in with his dive gear on and a weight belt and his O2 OFF. Hes lucky he didnt sink to the bottom with no air. He called me over and asked me to turn it on - a lady that wasnt with the school was more concerned about than the Dive leaders from the Scuba Shack. No one acknowledged the fact the he and I were having a difficult time with our dive gear once we were in the water. (The gear THEY provided.) Those students that bought gear from the shop were treated much better during dive certification. My husband and I struggled and grew very anxious because of the malfunctioning equipment while we were in the water and it seemed a big bother to the Dive Leader. Theres more but to make a long story short:By the end of the day, I left Gilboa Quary with severe baro-trauma to both ears (Ruptured Eardrums) and No dive certification. If you use this dive shop, make sure you get a GOOD and PATIENT instructor (like Jeff) and that HE or SHE is the one that does your dive certification.AND mind the high-pressure sales. Make sure you actually NEED what they are pushing... you can pour a TON of $ into diving...just dont do it until you are absolutely POSITIVE you can dive and get your certification.I spoke to several Professional Divers who told me I should have never spent 30 minutes trying to go down to 20 feet... that the dive leader should have put a stop to it after a few attempts or 10 minutes. And that they should have not encouraged me to dive AGAIN (when the ruptures happened) in the same day. The pain and suffering I went through started about 2 hours after we left for the day and it is some of the worst pain Ive ever felt in my life.I was told by the ENT specialist I went to (who was also specialized in Baro-Trauma), that I should never dive again. There is too much of a risk that I will lose the healthy tissue left in my eardrums if I have another accident. This killed our diving plans in Belize.I received one phone call from the Scuba Shack after the whole incident. I have not heard another word from them, it was very expensive for all this and it was ALL money down the drain. The Scuba Shack made $ and provided me with a diving bag, snorkel gear, boots and fins. But I went there for DIVE CERTIFICATION - and didnt get it, and havent heard from them since.
Went to The Shack to try scuba before I decided to sign up for lessons. First thing they tried to do, was sell me a set of mask, flippers, and a snorkel. I HADNT EVEN BEEN IN THE WATER YET! When I did get to see the poor excuse for a pool, it was dark and dank in there. It smells of mildew and the water in the pool didnt look much better. I wouldnt wash my neighbors dog in that pool and I dont like the dog. I decided not to get my lessons from the aptly named Shack! What a dump!
Great dive Shop and people
