We found out about this place on our latest visit to Lauderdale by the sea and were very happy we did! Great selection of fresh seafood and friendly staff. We tried the crab legs and they were excellent on the BBQ. Well be back again soon!

9/25:2020-Picked a a grouper filet and a flounder filet. Plus one Florida lobster tail, all so fresh. Can’t go wrong.lots of help. Don’t forget to take a number on right like publix.5/7/2020- stone crab season coming to a end 5/15/- so we got 6 large @ $49.00lb, plus seafood salad, seaweed salad, fried grouper pieces, a chunk of smoked grouper plus the best honey mustard.Wow they have it all . Take a number like publxs . You want fresh fish anything in season anything. Stone crabs, little neck clams larger clans, squint, while Red Snapper, or filet . If you dont see it ask for it always a lemon or lime free with order You get what you pay for . If they crack your fish, steam it, it would be nice if you leave a tip .To busy ordering for pic’s . Have yourself plenty of time I don’t care what time you get there it’s always busy .

Best quality of seafood in the area.

Being out of my local area on New Years eve we googled fresh fish markets. Went to 2 places before we stopped in here. No dead fish smell here, very clean social distancing limits on entry. Wide selection of fresh fish and shellfish. I settled on some large shrimp old bay steamed, 2 Maine lobsters stuffed with crab meat and 2 Imperial Crabs each in a scallop shell. We had a great dinner at home and no cooking except to put the lobster and Imperial crab in the oven for 45 mins. Highly recommend. If you tip them they ring a bell and the staff cheers. Made for a festive atmosphere.

We went to the Fish Peddler for lobsters for Thanksgiving. The store and the staff were really wonderful. We ordered the lobsters and picked them up a few days later without even going into the store. Everyone was helpful and pleasant and the lobsters were fresh and delicious. Already planning to go back to The Fish Peddler for Christmas.

Just tried the stone crabs! They’re amazing! So fresh. Great experience at the market! The staff helped me figure out how much to buy and were incredibly kind and accommodating. Will go back.

Had a great customer service experience with this merchant. Ordered some stone crabs for shipping to my nieces in Ohio and the order went badly. They took total responsibility and made everything good. Will keep going back. If there were 10 stars I would give it to them.

We’re down in Fort Lauderdale from New York and was recommended to shop at this fish market. So happy we did. We ordered red snapper and cooked it oreganata. It was the freshest fish, I’ve ever cooked. So glad we found it!

Too crowded during covid. I am editing this review to respond to the owner. There were more then 10+ people in your store when I was there and no way to be 6 feet apart. It may have been just bad timing on a Friday afternoon. I do believe everyone was wearing a mask as you stated but when you are so close to each other I am still uncomfortable. That being said I will also say that we did buy some Cod while we were there and it was wonderful and fresh

I just purchased Manhattan clam chowder $5.99 a pint and I was very disappointed because there was barely one clam cut up in this soup. I wil never buy this again. 6/16/2021

Some of the freshest yellow tail snapper I have ever bought at a fish market. Made some amazing ceviche with it. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommend.

The BEST place for fresh seafood. They carry local catches as well as speciality seafood when you want to get your gourmet cooking thing on!

All their products are good. Price is a little high, but you can count on it to be fresh. Wasnt a fan of their homemade smoked wahoo dip. First of all why was it pink. And not sure but think they used cream cheese. The halibut was awesome.

This seafood market prices their food way too high to begin with for nothing more than average quality seafood and inept service! We recently purchased a 2 1/2 pound lobster for a birthday dinner which they ruined. We spoke to a woman with a southern accent and gave her specific instructions to split and clean the lobster ONLY! She even asked me if we wanted them to cut the lobster in half, which I replied no, because the lobster needed to be stuffed for broiled stuffed lobster. After we returned home and opened the metal tray, we immediately noticed the lobster was cut completely in half and separated in the tray. They were already closed when we called so we had to cook it as is and waste the stuffing. They ruined a birthday surprise :( When we called the following day, all they said was Im sorry. We were going to order 2 more lobsters for another birthday, but after that lack of consideration for ruining a $43 birthday meal, we chose other dining options. 0 star rating for sure. Extremely disappointed and will definitely tell all friends and business associates.

I recently took the 45 minute drive up to Fort Lauderdale after hearing The Fish Peddler mentioned in one of Chef John Pierres cooking videos and I have to say I was not disappointed. The quality and variety of the seafood coupled with the friendly and helpful service was amazing. The best part is that they will cook pretty much anything there in the counter for you on the spot(if its not too busy) otherwise you would have to phone ahead. They have clams casino oysters Rockefeller and seafood gratins just to name a few. I asked for a half pound of Diver scallops and a the chef in the back (John I believe) seared them to literal perfection. I paired that with some clams casino a homemade clam chowder and an order of stone crabs and I was in heaven. Im a very simple person to please and I would have to say Id prefer to come have lunch here 9/10 times if I was in the mood for seafood rather than an overpriced restaurant that doesnt even come close to the quality of seafood provided here. If I could offer some constructive criticism or maybe more of a request would be to perhaps contract some local fisherman to provide a small variety of fish slaughtered jn accordance with the Japanese technique of ikejime. Even if its a small section of one two fish at a time you will attract a new base of clients because the fish slaughtered in this method are far superior for sushi than fish that suffocate to death in a cooler(you can also charge far more and sushi chefs look for this). The other thing would be more variety of live seafood, I only saw Maine lobster available live. Florida Lobster or perhaps live scallops would be great too because again they could be used for sashimi.

Ive recently started shopping here and have very happy with how fresh the fish is. Even the kids were gobbling this stuff up and commenting on how good it was without knowing I was buying from a new place. I think prices are fair for fresh locally caught fish. While prices are probably more than you would pay for frozen fish in a grocery store, there’s definitely a quality difference. In a time crunch I bought frozen fish filets and didn’t tell the family ... it didn’t go over well.I’ve also been very happy with how knowledgeable the team is with fish and whatever my requested fish prep ... deboned, skinned, descaled, and fileted. Until this shop, I had resigned myself to having to do the prep work at home because other fish places wouldn’t fully descale or cut out so much meat in deboning or skinning or whatever.

I go there at least once a week. What a great crew!!!! The sea food is spot on and very fresh. Keep up the good work.Again your crew at the counter is awesome,they call you by name just super. Thanks guys see you next week.

They have the freshest seafood compared to the big retail grocery stores where most of their fish is farm raised not fresh.

Would be a 5 except they are pricey side of area seafood purveyors. They are truly full service and only stock non-colored, sustainably sources fish and crustaceans. Call ahead for larger orders or for fresh cooked lobster, crab, mussels, oysters or clams. Always busy, but never a more than 5 minute wait. Great location. Owners will accommodate any reasonable request.

Its one of the coolest little seafood markets I have ever seen! The best and freshest anywhere. They will even season and cook your lobsters for only a dollar extra. The stone crab claws were awesome. The best flavor, light, no stink, soft flavor and texture. Was like eating candy. Amazing collection of fresh and freezers full of frozen prepared stuff to heat and eat. The seafood salad and fish dips are amazing too. This place is a must to experience Fort Lauderdale at its finest!

Youre welcome for my and my neighbors supporting this place for 20 years before the Internet was a thing, long enough for you to google fresh fish and be led here.Enjoy.

My mother-in-law looked up fresh sea food markets and this one caught our eye after researching several we settled on going to this one! It is a nice medium sized fresh sea food market! It has a huge selection of sea food, many types of fish, and shrimp, and scallops! They was friendly but not the kind of friendly that shoves their products down your throat! They did not rush us, but they did make sure we knew they was there if we was ready! After a good 10-15 minutes of me browsing any taking it all in, we ordered (probably more then we should have) but it all looked so good! If I didnt know the price of sea food and I didnt buy it regularly I would say it was a little pricey, but it really isnt at all! Its rates are market value, and some things probably a little cheaper,! They had an array of frozen things and spices and sides to make with whatever you are buying! And on pretty sure they all was smiling the whole time!

FRESHEST EVER!The helpful crew running the counter know enough about seafood to get your lagniappe, banquet, or seafood buffet going perfectly. Making that perfect bouillabaisse? They have everything, fresh mussels, clams, lobsters, scallops and fish stock(s). This sounds like an ad but its all from my experience.

Excellent fish market. All the employees are professional and courteous and the food is spectacular. I love that they fry up my fish and shrimp and I have never had such delicious fried seafood from anywhere else. I used to love Red Lobster and now I cannot eat that frozen seafood for my life. The Peddler has really spoiled me. I do find their prices fair for the quality I receive and would never go anywhere else for my seafood. I try and at least go a couple times a week. I highly recommend The Fish Peddler to anyone looking for excellent quality seafood. I have yet to ever be disappointed.

This place was so good!! Unfortunately, I didnt stop to take pictures because we were so hungry. The person behind the counter was very helpful and patient with us out of towners. We got the stone crab, wahoo spread, shrimp lunch boat and a baguette. All was very fresh and tasty. I thought the cost was reasonable. Im sure it would have been more expensive in a restaurant. I would definitely recommend you try this place if you are nearby.
