I have always wanted to try Kiteboarding and XL Kites made it possible. I stopped in and spoke with Tyler who was more than happy to share some of his knowledge and pointed me to watching some YouTube videos before my first lesson which proved to be helpful. The next day Conner called me and I returned to the shop where we talked about what I hoped to get out of the lesson, looked at the winds, watched a video, talked about the safety systems, and looked at the winds one more time before heading out. The first practical lesson I got was that a wide brimmed hat is very beneficial for this sport. Conner was prepared and had one he let me borrow. When we got out by the water, Conner taught me how to, determine wind direction, inflate the kite, set the lines up, take extra time to be sure the lines aren’t twisted and we reviewed the safety systems again. Next, Conner gave me direction to help him launch the kite. He demonstrated flying the kite before we walked down the beach away from everyone to avoid any incidents with others. For the next few hours, Conner worked with me on flying the kite with control, he taught me about what was necessary to get up on the board, and body dragging. Conner was a great instructor and was able to transfer the information to me so I could practically apply what he wanted me to do. It wasn’t for very long but I was able to get up on the board briefly. The lesson was great and I was inspired enough that I want to keep trying to learn to kiteboard. I’d recommend XL Kites 9 hour package if you have the time. The following week I took my second lesson in Maui. I can’t wait until the next time.

I love these guys. Traveled from coastal MS to get a lesson over a weekend vacation in Pensacola Beach. Having a background in boardsports and a little experience flying small 2-line kites, I had been wanting lessons to get into Kiteboarding for years. I stopped by the store on the way into town and was greeted by Michael, who was very kind, knowledgeable, and brilliant at explaining and teaching windsport theory and application. He helped me understand the difference between foiling, twintip boards, handheld wings, and 4-line kites and what kind of experience to expect before getting out on the water. Connor met me at the shop before my lesson and we rode out to a local public beach that was fantastic for learning how to kiteboard. He was an excellent teacher, a great person, and a pleasure to learn from. He showed me the basics on how to rig and launch a kite, safety measures to follow and quickly got me comfortable flying a kite. He offered to refund a generous amount of the cost of the lesson since conditions were not flyable if I wanted to end the lesson there. Instead, I chose to come back the next day to try and give it another go. We were able to talk shop and he told me about the kind of gear I should buy for my local beach, he was very knowledgeable. The next morning we got in the water, the wind was still light, but he quickly was able to coach me to getting up on the board by my second waterstart which took no time at all. He knew all the right things to say, showed me what I needed to do, made me feel comfortable, and had a great attitude. I highly recommend Connor and Michael at XL Kites, these guys really went above and beyond, we’re great teachers, and I can’t wait to go back and take another lesson after I purchase my first kite.

Michael is the best. He is extremely patient and cares about helping his customers feel comfortable. He really wants you to have fun and will go the extra mile. I bought an efoil from him. Since the new battery was being shipped, he let me use one of his for a week. Super nice guy and very knowledgeable.

Michael was incredibly knowledgeable, personal, and was a great instructor. I can’t recommend XL Kites enough for anyone looking to learn water / air sports. They have a great gear selection in the shop - chocked full of fun toys. Definitely check out XL Kites next time you’re in the area!

Michael was SO amazing! My kiteboarding lesson was incredible and he’s so encouraging! He also got me set up with wonderful gear that I am very happy with. He really went above and beyond. He even met with me after store hours and was always super flexible. Can’t say enough amazing things about XL Kites!!!

Yeah, lost my sunglasses kiteboarding on the bay Saturday. So I stopped by to get another pair. Roger, is always great to work with.

Was told for$850 I would be fully trained to become a Powered Paragliding Pilot... Make a long story short.. after the many weeks practicing my kiting on the beach, it was time for my 1st flight. After hours in the shop, I was told that I had to supply my own paramotor and wing!!! Really? This info would have been useful BEFORE I committed my hard earned time and money with them..Bottom line. They will ONLY show you how to ground kite your wing. Thats it. Of course it will cost you$850 for the privilege to stand on the beach flying a big kite..Run as far away from XL KITES as you can. You will learn nothing, get zero flight time and be put 100% of your hard earned money..If I could only give XL Kites zero stars then I would. But since I cant, they get a huge F-..

We went Efoiling with Mike and had a blast! He was super laid back which made it comfortable to go at our own pace. Hes out there with you just in case you need anything. Super friendly staff. Great experience!

INTEGRITY! Ive been been buying kites/boards from XL and getting gear advice from Roger since 2015 and its always been great. Helpful, informative, experienced, quality service, and fair prices (dont forget they have overhead costs and have to make a living). You cant go wrong with XL Kites.

Great people. I had a great two days of lessons. Very patient . Shop is clean and cool. Plus, get discount if taking lessons. Roger, Mike, And instructor Phillip were all very easy to work with. I highly recommend. The lesson spot is 5 minutes from the shop which is also great.

Yea I gave them 5 stars! Just walked into the store one day on vacation with the family and checked out the store and what all they had! Roger was willing to take the time to explain everything with me! I was able to meet up later on in the day and got an hour lesson from one of the instructors and loved it! I had a board that I just baught from somewhere else that wasn’t quite right for me and Roger went above and beyond to take it off my hands and gave me a full store credit! It was a few months later that I used that store credit to buy a kite because the hurricane season was bad this year! But the fact that 4 months had gone by and they didn’t say no we don’t know you and you don’t have a store credit with us told me that they are honest guys! Roger actually called me to remind me about it! They called when the kite arrived and it was shipped to my door 2 days later! I live in Kansas and could order a lot of this stuff somewhere else but I won’t because I know they will back up any issues I may have or just take the time to make sure I know how to use my gear! If you want to learn how to kite board go to these guys! They will take care of ya!

These guyz are top notch! From the moment I first walked in Roger was very friendly & helpful! He did not try to sell me anything but was very informative which led to me buying everything I needed! The lessons are very helpful & I would highly recommend taking lessons because there are many details that you will not know unless you have experience! Very competitive pricing on equipment as well so support the local guyz. The support they offer is priceless!

Be verry careful when buying a kite at xlkites, they sold me a kite that was supposed to hold air, 4 hours later the kite was flat and they wanted nothing to do with it, worst experiance ever!, i will never deal with them again and would never recomend them to anyoneplease stay away from these guys they are scam artist!
