Never been there. I would imagine they are good folks, but I dont know.
Its great service as usual!
Great service, courteous and gave me a quality product.
Needed a catalytic converter replaced on an old Silverado. Quoted between $815 and $1900 (and told I needed other work I didnt need) at other shops in town. Xtra Automotive did it for $318. Seriously. Less than 1/2 the price quoted anywhere else. He got it done fast, and the truck - which was not drivable before - ran like new again.A few weeks later, the truck died while I was driving it. Had it towed to Xtra Automotive. James told the tow driver to put it right into the shop. He immediately got to work on it. In less than 2 hours, hed diagnosed the issue (a faulty relay), replaced it, charged less than $120 and I was on my way.My experience at Xtra Automotive is that James is honest, fast, thorough charges far less than anyone else Ive found in town. He is quiet, so he obviously isnt trying to sell me anything. After issues with price gouging and selling me on stuff I didnt need at other mechanics in Fort Walton, I plan to go to Xtra Automotive for all my car mechanic needs here from now on.
Brought the truck to him because I couldnt get the power steering pully on properly, also while there I asked him to fix a headlight issue. He priced things fairly but when I got my truck back, the power steering was leaking fluid, my lights did not work properly still, and he doesnt take card which i quickly was threatened with a claim to my credit score, threatened a $25 a day late fee. I paid him cash the same day he asked for it, and the fact he demanded pay for something he didnt fix lead me to file a complaint with the BBB. I was completely applauded. Just because someone is quiet doesnt mean theyre not rude.edit: also I cannot find him on sunbiz.org by name or address so it looks like a complaint to the county will need to be made also.
Took our car here 3 months ago after a referral from our tire place. Mechanic had no idea what was wrong, husband and I thought a caliber, mechanic thought it was a wheel bearing. Mechanic changed out wheel bearing, we were charged $266.XX...and the car still sounded the same. Mechanic spoke about Jesus, church, and had a trailer full of bikes supposedly to donate to kids. He ripped us off plain and simple...in the name of Jesus. Will never go back or refer anyone here. Very disappointed.
Good quality work performed here! Called at 4:10 got of work early asked if theyd connect 3pipe to muffler. They said well bring it on in the next ten minutes. Went from thunder loud to medium rumble I love it thanks again!
James is a detailed and thorough mechanic, also he has integrity which is hard to find these days in the automotive world. Hes worked on several of my vehicles and saved me hundreds of dollars. I have several mechanics that I use and hes at the top of the list when Im having work done in FWB.
Best most awesome and honest mechanic Ive ever met. Even in all the states Ive lived in no one tops his expertise and kindness.
My daughter and her boyfriend were headed over for Christmas dinner and had a flat. They called and were charged $200 for a tow. The man said he only took cash. Driver gets out of the truck with a Jesus shirt on. Thanks for the help...When we asked if he could come down on the price he replied “it’s all about the timing”I don’t even have words right now.
Quoted 30/40$ charged $84.50I thought I was saving money going to him but he ended up charging 30 more then the highest competition.I thought it was an honest shop but I was extremely let down.Might as well go to a nice clean shop instead of this.
First off the name of the owner has slipped my mind, will update once I get his name. After discovering my muffler need to be replaced at a different shop in town I was quoted $500 for a new muffler and installation. Thinking to myself that this was way to much I started to call around and discovered Xtrautomotive. After talking with the owner for about 10 min while telling him what I was quoted elsewhere he started to laugh, saying that was wayyy to much to pay. So I decided to take my truck to him and get it checked out...he crawled under the truck and knew the muffler I had just from the part number. After telling him what I wanted as far as sound...he suggested a muffler he had in the shop. Dropped off the truck the next day at 8am and picked it up at lunch. Truck sounded exactly as he described the previous day. Overall I was very satisfied with my experience at xtrautomotive. The owner was very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful...plus he saved me over $300!!
The owner is a long time, old school mechanic. Knows his stuff.
Fair prices and a great mechanic.
