Doc is a master luthier and I am grateful he is still doing his guitar magic!
My guitar was in Guitar Tech hell at Sam Ash on Beach, I ended up with a super high action and major fret buzz and the tech kept it for 2.5 weeks over 2 different set ups, so I was frustrated with Sam Ash. I brought it over to the Guitar Doctor here in Fountain Valley and its playing beautifully, no fret buzz, great action set up. I wouldve saved so much time had I brought it here first instead of taking a promotional deal at Sam Ash. The doc finds your guitars sweet spot, I would highly recommend!
I took my most prized guitar to Doc as a last ditch effort to get it to play decently. It had been in lesser qualified hands in the past and I honestly thought it was past saving. What I got in return was a professional grade road worthy instrument that is beyond amazing. This man gave me an instrument that is professional grade and is beyond anything I could have hoped for. Quit trying to take the cheap way out and get your instrument in the hands of this incredibly talented man. He and his wife are awesome people and I am beyond thankful for them.
I bought a Martin 12 years ago that I played the heck out of but didn’t necessarily take care of. The trim started falling off, the electronics were falling apart, and the whole thing was starting to bow. Doc brought that thing to life. It feels, sounds and plays better than it did when I had first bought it. He also gave me a few tips to make sure I didn’t have to come back in a few months. Now I know my Martin is going to need some TCL every few years to keep it in good shape, and doc has earned my business for life.
I’ve heard nothing but the greatest things about this guy yet no matter how I try I can’t get a return call, email, text I’ve left voicemails and get nothing. I’d love to have my guitar set up by him but don’t see it happening.
This is hands down the most professional, knowledgeable, and helpful shop Ive ever been to!The quality and care they have for customers is insane! I came for in a quote and left with more knowledge than I could live asked for.Do yourself a favor and check these guys out for any repairs or setups! They do lessons as well, I will be back for that when this virus nonsense ends! They are offering curbside 05/2020.
Doc has an incredible knowledge of guitars. I was so impressed with his services, and his passion for the craft is not matchable at a GC or anything like that. Would recommend his work to anyone!
Doc had put in a couple Switchcraft jacks for me a while back while I screwed around in GC for 30 minutes. Good price, no lame jack issues on two guitars, nice! That was a walk in and luckily he wasnt too busy. This time I had him do a stage ready setup on a brand new $200 Jackson 7 string. It plays remarkably well now for such an inexpensive guitar. The setup was somewhat cheaper than the guitar. ;)But for a new 7 player like me I wanted it done right the first time.Doc does not disappoint his patients, but a case like this submitted right before the new year took a couple weeks as I expected.
I dropped my martin on the hardwood floor and it received substantial damage. The top, binding and side crumpled like cardboard where it hit the ground. The internal bracing was also jarred loose by the impact. I was really worried that it was possibly damaged beyond repair. Fortunately I found the Guitar Doctor. The Doc was able to repair the damaged area and re glue the internal bracing. It looks great, sounds great and is now set up better than ever. The Doc is a miracle worker. I am very happy.
Doc is a rare breed, I wont trust anyone else to touch my instruments.
I have had doc pitillo set up the action on several guitars. He does an amazing job !!Be prepared to wait a bit. He does a lot of guitars 😊
The best guitar setups ever by a large margin.
Set up my mandolin so it plays significantly better, and explained the whole process
Doc is the sweetest and so GOOD AT WHAT HE DOES!! He helped me fix a minor problem and taught me more about my guitar in the process!! I am literally so happy I stopped. Ive passed this shop every time I go by guitar center or costco lol. Im bringing my guitar in again so Doc can givr me guitat some TLC!! 💞 THANKS DOC ✨
I have an Ibanez Mandolin that I brought in to the doctor to have a set up and string change done. The Doc took a look and repaired a lot of imperfections.....my mandolin sounds and plays amazing!!!! I am planning to bring in my telecaster to have him do the same things he did with my mandolin. If you’re looking for an amazing job and a beautiful sounding instrument this is definitely the place to be!
I have taken many instruments to Doc for tune-ups and repairs... Instruments with replacement costs ranging anywhere from $85.00 to $5,000.00. Each one has ALWAYS been handled and treated with the same level of care. Doc loves what he does and is the BEST in the business. He cares for every instrument the same way and brings the Best out of every one he touches. You will Never find a better place to seek help. Doc & Pavel ARE THE BEST!
Doc is very knowledgeable about all things related to the guitar, and transformed my sons fret-stressed, wobbly pick-up, intonation hell Ibanez S Series into a sweet sounding awesome feeling better-than-new rocking bliss machine! You should have seen the size of the grin on my kids face when he played his properly set up guitar. We will definitely be returning customers. 😀
Friendly staff and great quality work! They dont call it Guitar Doctor for no reason. They recently set me up on a bass that was a decade overdue for serious maintenance. Highly recommend!
Guitar Doctor is greatly experienced and highly recommended.
Awesome service! Awesome staff! Great quality work! My 2 Jacksons are ready to rock! Thank you Doc & Happy Holidays
They are the guitar gods of repairs hands down without a doubt !!! SIMPLY AWESOME
I like the Doc. Reminds me of Brian Wilson (similar look). Ive brought 4-5 guitars in and hes been good. I am about to have him fix a short on the connector of my electric bass.
Fixed and set up my Martin . Damn good.
Cool repair shop. Doc knows his stuff. Friendly and fun to chat with.
We didnt get the name of the gentleman that refurbished our Fender bass guitar, but the restoration is beautiful. Looks like new!!
Outstanding service. Doc is an expert, and a guitar set up by him is like an entirely different instrument.
Doc has worked on a bunch of my axes, and he kills it every time. From set ups on high end Fenders to taking a $150 Indo Squire and getting it to sound and play like a high end Fender, he always gets it right. The only downside is when he plugs in your ax when you go in to pick it up and his playing puts you to shame because he can friggin rock! But that only inspires me to work harder, which cant hurt!
Very happy with the work he did on a Telecaster I brought to him. Very knowledgeable and friendly guy.
One of the best luthiers in OC. Also a nice guy.
Great guy, even better work. He has worked on all my vintage guitars, from kays to Gibson and Gretsch. Couldnt recommend him enough!!
Doc and Tommy make you feel right at home and patiently make certain all your questions get answered.Despite the relaxed atmosphere, Docs work is superb and his skills areextremely professional.

Wish they would answer the phone. Every time I call I get a fax machine tone set or no answer whatsoever.
Best Luthier alive!
Good quality and fair on prices !
Doc is simply the Best
I dont know much about them.
Very good job, I will say a little bit over priced and tooj them an extra week to finish the job, overall: good job!
Best ever.
The best
Someone very ignorant called Doc a master luthier. The word luthier gets thrown out a lot. Doc is not a luthier. Luthiers go to school, study, have apprenticeship, become journeymen, study under a master etc. Doc is not a luthier. Ive hired Doc many times and Ive hired real luthiers many times. Doc would be the first to agree with me. So stop throwing around this term so loosely. Doc is not a master luthier. Doc is the guy who stole parts off customers guitars and never made amends to these people. He just blows it off. Yet he runs his mouth about what a great guy he is and how flawed everyone else is. Hmmmm.Doc hasnt made any amends. Doc owes amends to a lot of people. Were waiting, Doc. This includes spiritual and emotional harm, as mentioned in the 8th step, not that youve ever read it. Lets not even bring up the financial..... Cmon man. Time to man up. Time to walk the walk, sonny boy. Stole parts off my vintage 60s Gibson SG guitar in the late 90s. I wonder how many hundreds of other people he did the same to?
