Great place, very helpful staff, and they have everything you need. I went in today to ask for advice. Bill was very helpful and spent twenty minutes answering my questions. These guys love raising bees, and you can tell. Ive been beekeeping for over four years and most of my knowledge on how to do it has come from the guys here (Bill, Bruce, Rob, and Tom).

For many years, I have wanted to become a beekeeper. This year, I did it! All thanks to Bill! Bill went over all the equipment, how to care for the bees and answered all my questions. I felt well prepared and supported when I left. Bill is friendly, professional and genuinely cares that all new Beekeepers are successful.

Hi fellow beekeepers, I’m a retired Physician wanting to get back into beekeeping. I’ve maintained over a hundred colonies a year. The first time in the store I purchased a Dadant smoker and frames.The second time in I was desiring to purchase some beeswax. He had the beeswax I wanted in a 50 lb block, but was unwilling to cut off a pound and sell it to me. He explained for 5 minutes about his other investors and his desire to process the block and sell it at a premium.Caution, the smile wears thin quickly, and watch your wallet and order from Dadant or Langston directly.PS. I don’t think Bill is a beekeeper, I think he’s a middleman.

Great ! I am an international student, I dont have any US citizenship and I dont have a permanent resident card yet. I really like beekeeping. I have my own house and want to raise bees for entertainment, am I allowed to raise bee in my garden?

I found the staff to be very friendly and informative. Like they say on their website, they carry the fundamentals that you need for beekeeping. Actually, it’s very impressive how you can walk into the place and leave with everything you need to establish a hive. They even sell the hive bodies pre-assembled. They even have suppliers that sell nucleus colonies year round, for $250 per nuc, which seems to be the going rate that I’ve noticed in Southern California. I really appreciate how willing they were to share their own personnel experience when it comes to treating bees for mites. For example, how to use different treatments to treat for mites, depending on the time of the year. Oh, lest I forget, their prices are very good.

Wanted to leave a good review because I saw Mark Carozzo leave a negative review just because the owners suggested plastic frames for a super. Plastic frames have not been shown to be dangerous or have any effect on honey production that might be harmful to humans, are more resilient than traditional frames, and can prevent beetle burrowing. Of course there are other downsides, but every material has a trade off. In any case, Rob and Tom are super knowledgeable and helpful when it comes to what you might need as a beekeeper, and I always ask them for advice when Im in the shop. Been going here for a few years and ill continue to come back for beekeeping supplies.

UPDATE #2:So this is year 2 of my Beekeeping. Bill (owner) advised me to get a nuc over a package for my second hive. It was a little more money, but he assured me it was worth it. I got my nuc from him towards the end of April and have already extracted almost 50 lbs of honey from it alone! Its only mid-July! Its producing 4X what my hive that is now over a year old is producing. Bill is a bee wizard! So grateful to have found him and his shop... Id be lost without him. My advice, take Bills advice... You wont regret it!UPDATE: Beekeeping is amazing, but not always easy! Each hive seems to be a little different and require special techniques that are only learned from years of experience. Thats what OC Beekeeping Supply (and the Amazing Bill and Tom!) offer. Ive ran into several hiccups with my hive, and would have been completely lost without their support. Ive scoured the internet, but our region is unique and local knowledge is required.So grateful for them, and especially Bill that is always eager to help. Their prices are great and they always seem well stocked with the seasonal essentials and tools of the trade. I remain grateful and would give 6 stars if I could!!Original: They dont just supply products, but invaluable knowledge and experience. I couldnt have a successful hive without them. Genuinely grateful for this business. If youre interested in Beekeeping, dont bother looking anywhere else or on the internet. There are some things that still require a human, and this is one of them. If youre an experienced beekeeper, Im confident you already know.

This place gets quite the buzz. Bee puns aside, the folks at OC Beekeeping have been very helpful, as a new beekeeper who picked up a bee package from them and has called a few times with questions I’m happy to give them my business.

Formerly Pierce, now OC Beekeeping Supply is owned by Rob and Tom — two of the most experienced, trustworthy, even-keeled, science-based beekeepers around. Supporting this small, family-run shop just feels good because it’s NOT a big box or web store, and my money isn’t going to Jeff Bezos.Everything is reasonably-priced and well-stocked and the best part about the novel experience of actually finding a Beekeeping supply store and being able to walk in and touch and see things? You get to discover new items that you didn’t know existed. Sure I find pages of stuff I’ve never seen online, but most of it is unnecessary, so it’s great to know Rob and Tom wouldn’t be carrying nonsense, and also are right there in person, to answer questions, and are actually experienced beekeepers (unlike the phone people on beek supply websites).Some OC my all-time favorite products (some you CANT get anywhere else!):1.The hand-strung, wax-wire frames with organic wax from Canada2.The italian hive tool (you will never want to work with another after you try it)3.The triple-wax foundation frames4.The wrought- iron hive stands for inspection5.The division boardRob and Tom are also THE best at connecting you with other beekeepers for queens/saving shipping, and turning me onto new products just entering the market and totally under the radar — like the DefyAnt Stand which is totally worthy. My husband was looking for a bee box. We decided to come here and were surprised that they went out of their way to speak to us in Spanish. They helped us choose the perfect box and explained more about transferring bees to a box and what to do next step by step. I recommend this place to buy the necessary tool and at reasonable prices. The Hispanic community will be very well received. It doesnt make them not speak English. We will be back in a month for our second purchase.
